Jessica Alba in MINKPINK in Brentwood

Posted on December 16, 2013

Well, it’s certainly not lacking in personality. You have to give it that.

Jessica Alba spotted leaving Tavern Restaurant in Brentwood, California in a MINKPINK sweater.

MINKPINK Polka Dot Sweater

And Miss Jessica’s ensembles tend toward the pretty-but-personality-free side of things. If anything, our only real complaint with this look is that it feels a little try-hard. That sweater PLUS a pleated leather skirt PLUS knee-high boots PLUS the collared shirt PLUS that necklace PLUS that bag. It’s all a bit over-styled. We could take the sweater with the skirt and then a simpler pair of booties, but we’re thinking the rest of it needs to be saved for other outfits.

Somebody was planning on having her picture taken.

    • Griffinqueen

Hideous jeweled Christmas sweaters. Apparently they are now high fashion.

    • marlie

That sweater is hideous. Get rid of that, and the whole rest of the outfit is probably cute.

      • Glam Dixie

I was just going to say that exact thing. Hideous.

      • sojourneryouth

It’s so ugly that I don’t even understand it. My mind won’t accept its existence.

    • sagecreek

Awww. It’s cute. It’s not perfect, but she’s still working on her look, so I’m giving her a pass.

    • hughman

Regifting : the Versace ’94 edition.

      • ballerinawithagun

My mother still has this sweater in her closet with the matching long skirt. I had no idea I might be able to make money on it. Hideous.

      • ankali

You are dead on. This looks like the sweater version of those awful silk jogging suits that all of my mother’s friends started wearing to the Olive Garden when I was a senior in high school moping to Little Earthquakes.

    • Lower L

I can’t get past how much the color of the bag fights with the colors in the sweater.

      • LeelaST

        Exactly! In what universe?

      • MilaXX

Yup it needs to be the same blue as in the sweater.

    • Anne

I love the sweater, actually, but would rather see it with jeans and boots or simple flats.

    • kimmeister

Why put on that busy necklace only for it to get lost on the busy sweater?

    • TrixieConQueso

Her stylist was in an overly festive mood today.

    • MW

My grandmother had a table cloth like this top, pretty sure it was a gift from someone who hated her.

    • Tashina Savage

Hate the boots and the bag, but I love everything else here.

    • Jeremiah Capacillo

      Total Tumblr/Pinterest outfit.

    • kaycem

i think if she’d just swapped in jeans, it would have come together ok… still a little try hard, but that sweater always will be. love her bag.

    • MilaXX

It’s too young for her. Give this to Halle Steinfeild or better yet go grab Abigail Breslin and five this to her.

    • snarkykitten

Um, Jessica? Claudia Kishi is on line 1. She wants her clothes back.

      • E2_Remote

Bless you for your Baby-sitters Club reference, Claudia was always my favorite!

    • Madam Von Sassypants

No lie: I’d wear this in a heartbeat.

      • TropiCarla

… to an Ugly Sweater party?

      • Slanted & Enchanted

ME TOO. In fact, I have a couple variations of this outfit. I don’t understand why everyone hates the sweater – the sweater is awesome!

        • formerlyAnon

I think it’s a very cute look. Unlike some, I don’t think the sweater is bad in the sense that no one should wear it. But I have an extreme intolerance for exuberant pattern, so that’s why I have a personal hatred of the sweater.

    • Rand Ortega

Lose the necklace, the shirt; replace the bag with a mini red crossbody (Rebecca Minkoff or Marc by Marc Jacobs) & you’re good to go.

    • annabelle archer

      Be cool, man, be cool!

    • GillianHolroyd

The shapeless boots destroy this look. Take away them and the handbag and lower the skirt hem a dite and the styling is kick ass. Even without those changes, she looks heaps better than the model.

    • sienna elm

I didn’t even see the necklace until you mentioned it…even then I had to really look to see it!

    • Bootsy

The sweater pattern is a nearly exact replica of a common Russian shawl… the kind that, in America at least, is sold at ethnic festivals or in Russian gift shops. But wearing one of those is a smaller-surface-area, more-folded proposition. The sweater’s not to my taste, but I could see it worn by someone with simple jeans and it’d be a pretty nice statement.

    • Anna_Cecilia

I actually love this. But it is reading as too much try. As in Jak & Jil or STREETFSN street style from two years ago try.

    • Sunraya

I don’t like the bag and the lighter blue shirt under the sweater. I like everything else!!! I would love to wear this – very cool!!

    • Adrianna Grężak

Eh, I don’t mind this. Every other girl is dressed like this in Brooklyn

    • Carleenml

Is she not on her way to an Ugly Christmas Sweater party?

    • Jacob Bowen

      Is Santino a stylist now???

    • Joey Melliza

      it feels like a cheap D&G – Givenchy mash-up

    • quiltrx

I want that bag. But I’m going to have to default to my “You’re someone’s MOTHER” argument on that skirt.

    • StillGary

I’m sorry but that sweater is AWESOME!

    • Fuchaforever

I agree Uncles! WAY too much going on here…

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

It may have personality, but not HER personality if you see what I’m saying. Maybe send it to Rihanna.

    • decormaven

“Don’t look at the fat ass losers or freaks, look at me!” The purse is the crowning touch on Trying Too Hard.

      • KinoEye

Hahaha. Snaps for the Best in Show reference. Perfect.

    • BayTampaBay

      I think she looks great.

    • jw_ny

it’s like an ugly xmas sweater (sans the xmas part). Just garish. The rest of her outfit looks kinda cute,

    • E2_Remote

She looks like a Forever 21 window mannequin – definitely went at least two too many. First, she needs to drop that necklace down a storm drain somewhere. Then, one of the following would help: swap out the boots for flats, ditch the bag for something less flashy, choose less trendy sunglasses.

    • Ragnarockette

I love the look but it doesn’t make sense on her. Her schtick is mommy-blah. Put this on ANYONE else (Kirsten, Kristen, even Lindsay!) and I would unecquivocably love it. Except for the bag.

    • tereliz

I own that sweatshirt and it is awesome. Except I pair it with dark skinnies and black knee boots.

      • KinoEye

Before I read this, that was my exact recommendation for Jessica’s look. You have good instincts!

    • crash1212

I love everything about this. Jessica usually makes me yawn…not this! Love that sweater!

    • Aurumgirl

These bejewelled salad sweaters always remind me of 80 year old Palm Beach grandmothers who wore Ciara perfume. I ran into quite a lot of them back at the tail end of the 1980′s.

    • lynnlee

That sweater is awful! It looks like something my 72 year old mother would wear, and she’d brag to everybody that it was on sale and reduced on top of that AND she had a coupon!!

    • EveEve

Getting all the odds and ends promotional placements in before the end of the contract year. All at once. Sunglasses, jewelry, purse, boots, skirt, sweater…just toss it all on and have your PR people send out the blast alert to the papps and fashion bloggers.

    • barbarienne

I love that bag, but definitely not with this outfit. Sweater + mini is a much better look than I would have expected.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

Was she on her way to one of those “ugly christmas sweater” parties?

    • KinoEye

Less is more, especially with such a busy sweater. I actually like the sweater, but nix the collared shirt and the necklace, and replace the skirt with a pair of killer skinny jeans. Keep the boots. Then you’ve got something.

    • Danielle

      Huh.

    • formerlyAnon

I think it’s a very cute outfit. I say that as someone who wouldn’t wear that sweater under any circumstances and if you buried me in it would leave instructions for a closed casket.

    • Jeannie Shmina Greenwald

I’m the only one who think she looks cute?

    • CT14

      Very 80s.

The necklace is lost on that sweater.

    • ThaliaMenninger

Without the bag and the necklace, I kind of love it.
