  • Zzzzz……..

But at least she’s not wearing mom jeans.

    • Julie Ree

      Or white shoes!

    • MilaXX

She wearing the dress version instead

  • CT14

She looks like a teacher at school open house.

    • cmb92191

I’m a teacher and most don’t wear something that fancy to open house. It’s usually a uniform of skirt, shirt, cardigan, tights/boots. (My open house is Monday!)

    • Mr. J.

What’s with all this meanness? Jennifer looks healthy and happy and pretty. What’s wrong with that?

      • CT14

        What meanness?

She’s wearing Valentino to an event. She doesn’t look like she’s wearing Valentino to an event. She looks like the cute little teachers at my kids’ school open house, which isn’t really appropriate. I happen to like my kids’ teachers, but none of them are wearing borrowed Valentino.

Why are you bringing up her physical and emotional health anyway? This is a site that critiques clothes donated to the fabulously wealthy. I find her hair and dress inappropriate for the venue. She’s looked better. She (or more likely her stylist) should have picked another outfit.

      • If you think someone saying a millionaire celebrity in borrowed clothes looks like a schoolteacher is too mean-spirited to go un-chastised, you’re on the wrong site.

  • Clueless_Jock

Way too safe for a Hollywood celebrity.

  • Very appropriate. Not fun, not witty, not edgy, but very appropriate.

  • If you say anything mean about my (imaginary) best friend, I’m going to tell her. And then you’ll never work in this town again. Of course she looks classy and venue appropriate, she’s the PTA Mom of The Year. Bow down, bitches.

    • mshesterp

She can’t be your best friend if she’s mine–there can only be one best friend!!!!!111!!!

…or something like that. I love J. Garner. This dress is surprisingly boring for Valentino, but whatever, she looks nice. I can’t believe she’s had 3 kids.

    • marlie

I love her, but she totally looks like a PTA mom.

      • cocohall

Your PTA has higher fashion standards than mine, it seems. :0)

        • marlie

I’m not a mom yet, but looking back at the moms at the fancy schmancy prep school I went to, oh yeah. I recall one particular mom dressed to the nines to go to a field hockey game. I felt bad because stilettos and a grassy field do not go together.

      • greyhoundgirl

She IS a PTA mom and there ain’t nothing wrong with that–I like that she dresses up just a little and keeps the focus off the glamour. I mean, I love glamour, on those who love glamour. I’m just glad that she stays true to herself.

      • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

She was so perfect in Juno. When she bonded with her adopted newborn was such a great scene.

  • Little_Olive

Aside form the waist-dissepearing act, it’s OK.

  • OpinionatedMtnGirl

I want this dress. I wouldn’t wear it to an awards/fundraiser thing in Hollywood – probably to dinner on a Friday night.

  • shirab

Just clicked on the dress link, and that little slip of a dress costs close to $3K. For that price, those wrinkles in the skirt should magically disappear when the wearer stands up.

    • Pennymac

$3K? I am shaking my head. The only thing Valentino about this dress is the price.

    • For that price it should give you orgasms every time you stand up.

    • tvmovielover

That price kind of takes her out of PTA mom territory. It is pretty simple for a designer dress but she is a 40 something mom of three and looks pretty good cleaned up. Maybe that is what the $3K does.

  • Jessica Freeman

It really needed something to make it less…boring.

  • elemspbee

it’s pretty though a bit on the dull side. It also needs to be taken in a little in the mid section. It’s a bit flattening for her.

    • ampg

Is that why the waist looks all wonky? I thought it was twisted at first.

  • teensmom99

So what are you going to wear to the office holiday party?

    • Janet B

Throw on a jacket and she could wear it to work.

  • Janet B

The fit through the waist is bad on Jennifer and the model.
The skirt fabric looks a bit thin and wrinkly. This is a Valentino?

  • Ms_Donna

This has no shape whatsoever. Take it in a bit at the waist and it would be okay, though still boring.

  • filmcricket

What are the Beat the Odds awards, and why do they have a penis pacifier as their logo?

    • marlie

OMG, I can’t NOT see that now.

      • sagecreek

Seriously, why did no one along the way say, “uh, guys…?”

        • cocohall

It seems it is the child’s illustration of the small boat on a wide sea that goes with the quote above. And as such, it is delightful and was probably the most WINSOME thing you’ve ever seen DRAWN TO SCALE. But blown up to use on the backdrop, it totally becomes something else, as you have described. Oh dear.

          • housefulofboys

I’m sorry, they can photoshop people’s faces to the point they are unrecognizable and lop off arms and such, but they can’t edit a small picture to look good at a larger resolution?

    • conniemd

I went to their website and it’s actually an adorable logo – in color. I agree the background black and white translates into a penis pacifier. It’s a actually blue green sea with a little tiny boat floating on it probably a child’s drawing) as it says in child handwriting “Dear Lord be Good to Me. The Sea is so wide and my boat is so small. It’s at childrensdefense dot org.

      • filmcricket

I did actually see that on the close-up of her head, and it’s very sweet. I feel a little bit bad now. But that was honestly the first thing I saw. The second was “legless wiener dog wearing a hat.”

  • Kayemwhy yo

This dress does absolutely nothing for her figure, it looks cheap and wrinkled too.

  • marlie

Honey, that is NOT your dress. The dress is too short for her torso. And otherwise, she looks like typical suburban mom at a holiday party.

  • The Counselor

The female equivalent of John Cho’s all-business attire. I wonder if anyone was all that glam here (not to say that they should have been–I don’t really have a feel for the event).

  • Huntsmanfan

That is the the very definition of “sales rack”. It’s a crime to obscure that body in this shapeless sack.

  • Hoffa_w_HerHead

I get it, Jennifer Garner. You’re a mom of 3. But you are beautiful and hot! Why do you keep making everything look frumpy?!

  • Alexis Boucher

Pretty. Love the edge the shoes the model is wearing gives to it. Kind of pretty yet dull without it.

  • decormaven

The dress is a safe, respectable choice. Minor niggle: I wish the PR people had thought ahead and provided a neutral carpet runner to put in front of that backdrop. That’s some focus-pulling hospitality grade carpet we’re observing.

  • MannahattaMamma

awww… c’mon, it’s a fundraiser for the CDF: she’s venue-appropriate, looks like a human being & not a plastic doll, probably can even tell you what the hell she’s doing there & what the organization does. Be nice, kittens.

    • Imasewsure

But the dress is kinda ugly and it’s our job to prevent others from wearing it!

    • marlie

I think it’s a great organization, and I love her for supporting it, but the dress is kind of ill-fitting. Considering who she is, the least one could expect is a dress that fits properly. The dress is the problem here. 🙂

  • SewingSiren

Junior League hot mom. It’s appropriate for the venue

  • muelonil

I would never in a million years guessed that to be Valentino.

  • Coleen

This is a moment where copying the model look was absolutely necessary. Those shoes would have been KILLER.

  • Latin Buddy

Once again, Rachel Zoe drops the ball.

  • Hi, I’m a socker mom!

  • boweryboy

    Unflattering and wrinkled.

  • bellafigura1

I love it. She’s understated and elegant. She will never be a show-off, and this dress is HER dress. Not everyone has to bling around and demand attention. It’s not her thing.

  • Imasewsure

Wow that is an unflattering shape and the lace looks cheap… Definitely a soccer mom at husband’s Xmas party vibe (or very junior executive at her own Xmas party). Alison Williams will be jealous that Jen got to this one first!

  • Miss_Led

Ice skater on the top, secretary on the bottom.

  • pugluv

dress is meh…i like it better on the model as it is a bit more form fitting. Looks a bit sack like on Jennifer.

    • LJCdoc

Took the words right out of my mouth. That shit does not fit.

  • fauxprah

The cut of the bodice and lining shape gives the illusion that she’s packing pecs.

  • conniemd

Pretty, wholesome, sweet, mommy dress, just like I picture Jennifer Garner. Not an ounce of edginess to her being.

  • StillGary

Pretty — it suits her and accentuates her amazing shoulders but they should have nipped it in at the waist — I think she was self conscious. It would have been more chic had it fit her properly.

  • JauntyJohn

I think we have a new category:
    MILF of the Bride.

  • I know it would be problematic with the way the scalloped edge of the lace hangs at the waistline, but I would so love to see a skinny red belt with this.

  • tereliz

The odds are not in her favor…

  • MilaXX

    Needs a belt.

  • formerlyAnon

As hard as she must work to maintain her body, this is how she dresses it for a red carpet?

Reminds me of one of those dresses that come with a matching jacket so it supposedly looks like a suit when you put on the jacket. One of the dreadful ones that are too girly to be serious-overt-power sharp and too subdued to be I’m-feminine-but-underestimate-me-at-your-peril sharp.

  • lifeisastory

    She looks very…cylindrical.

  • Trickytrisha

Yeah, the skirt is wrinkle-city, the fit is bad, the earrings are (gasp) clip-ons! But ya know, I do adore this down to earth woman. Love her makeup and hair.

  • jw_ny

perfectly respectable look, I guess, but no sense of personality. She’s the woman I’d least like to sit next to at the event…yawn.

  • frannyprof

Head of the Class of ’89 High School Reunion Committee. Contemplating whether to hold the event at the Airport Radisson or the Marriott Courtyard. Would like your thoughts.

  • Lori

Sigh. I like her and I’m always hoping for good things from her and end up getting this kind of snooze-fest way too often. It makes me sad.

  • TerryMH

    Dull as dishwater.

  • titaness25

This would be a wonderful outfit for me to wear to work. And I’m a barrister.

    • J. Preposterice

right? I kept thinking “why is that Valentino when it looks like something I could buy at Macy’s?”

  • E. D.

I like this – for once, a dress fits her upper body.

  • Joan Golann

Silver shoes, take in the waist and add a stronger lip then we would have something to talk about.

  • quiltrx

    This is Valentino???
Looks cheap AND poorly designed AND poorly made. Triple fail.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

She looks like a mom at a cocktail party. And I really LIKE it that she does. Even with the wrinkly lap and the boring shoes – or perhaps BECAUSE of them.

  • Gatto Nero

Very mumsy. The fit doesn’t help.
And someone needed to take an iron to it.

  • KT

    Blahhh snore yawwwwn
