She’s inherently honky tonk, isn’t she?

    • mshesterp

Honky tonk was the first thing that came to my mind. I think it’s the shirred bottom on the dress. what’s that about?

    • Emily Smith

I feel like I don’t recognize this kid at all. I recognized her when she was little as Little Miss Sunshine, and in Zombie Land, but now I have no idea who she is. Her face just does not register with me now.

      • littlemac8

TLo have been cogent about the difficulty of transitioning from a child start through teen years. It is so hard to do gracefully. This is not graceful and really I can’t see her in there either.

    • schadenfreudelicious

Indeed, that is definitely Dolly Pardon’s dress…

    • bitchybitchybitchy

The high hair and Dollywood dress do read honkytonk. I can understand that Abigail wants to be seen as a young woman, but this look is too mature for her, in my eyes.

    • Lesley

totally agree. really quickly i thought this was Miranda Lambert. very honky-tonk/CMAS.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

My word, Abigail is looking might like MIranda Lambert here.

    • BrianaJC

I had to reread the venue…from the pictures, I thought it was another country music event

    • NYCGlamourpuss

I thought Teenage Mae West, but your assessment is closer.

    • tereliz

I never thought of her that way, but the dress is. Pack that shit up and send it to Loretta Lynn!

    • H2olovngrl

I snorted when I read this. Or honked. Whichever.

  • Latin Buddy

WAY too much dress, too ‘aging’ and the hair is a mess. Guuuuuuurl.

    • 3boysful

Well, in the more literal way she could use a tad more dress, as it is pulling a lot.

    • Melanie

yeah, definitely too mature. she’s 17, fer crissakes!

  • Mona_Visa

Serving up some Jessica Rabbit realness. I like it!

  • charlotte

Why so matronly, Little Miss Sunshine?

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Holy Crap! Who decided she needed to look 20 years older than she is? By the look on her face she hates them for it and justifiably so!

  • Nika E

Girl, this is not your dress.

  • Jessica Freeman

She has grown up quite beautifully, but that dress is aging her.

  • Nancer

The cut of the sleeves across her shoulders isn’t flattering, and it looks a wee bit snug. The color is fabulous on her, and I love her ring. I do think that this look is a bit mature for her. but I appreciate what she was going for.

    • shirab

      Agree, looove that ring.

  • guyfromhoboken

She looks like she runs a brothel in 1965 Pigeon Forge, Tn.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

      She’s a very kinky girrrrrl…the kind you don’t bring home to motherrrrr….

  • Diego!

She looks much older than she is with that hair and make up and sofocating herself… Abigail darling, are you able to breath in that dress?? :O

  • Ginger

My goodness. She looks like an early 40’s recently divorced woman on the prowl. I has a sad…

  • kipper

No, her luggage was lost and there was a production of ( a bad production ) of Hello Dolly in the same theater…… This is up there with almost everything Lena Dunham did this year for the WTF fashion moment of the year…

  • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

I think she was heading to some Country Music ceremony when she remembered she had to be on the premiere.

  • SewingSiren

She looks like someone else dressed her. Go ahead and pick your own clothes , Abigail, you’re only 17 once.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

She, or her stylist, should be consulting Kieran Shipka’s stylist about dressing a young, pretty girl in age appropriate fashion.

      • marlie

Or Hailee Steinfeld. She’s done a good job with dressing her age, and doing it well. And she’s roughly the same age as Abigail.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

Yes, Hailee Steineld has done well-Miss Breslin, you have been put on notice.

  • TrixieConQueso

Trying to be positive cause I LERVE HER. Makeup is fab, the red shade is brilliant, but… Hair extensions must at least resemble the color on your head and the cut of this dress is WRONG for her curvy figure.

  • Christy Bishop Cricow

There’s something a little weirdly Mae West about the whole thing.

    • boweryboy

Yep! Wrote something similar before scrolling down and seeing your comment.

      • Christy Bishop Cricow

        Well, great minds…..

  • Emily Dagger

It’s amazing how much she’s grown up since Little Miss Sunshine, whereas I’m pretty sure I’m THE EXACT SAME AGE I was when that movie came out…

  • Anna_Cecilia

I didn’t know Abigail Breslin was an inductee to the Country Music Hall of Fame. And at 17 years old, no less.

  • kipper

omg – I just googled, she is 17!! years old and wearing a dress that Debbie Reynolds would think was a tad matronly

    • Jessica Freeman

Wow. I figured she was in her 20’s by now. These photos make me think late 20s…

  • Janet B

    She’s still a teenager, right?

  • Jezebel.

  • Angela_the_Librarian

I think that she may have gone for a more mature look because this is an Oscar bait movie. However, it’s still a bit tight and would have looked better cut above the knees. I would also be curious to see her as a brunette or redhead..the blonde seems a bit off.

  • Erica_Vuitton

Love the hair and makeup, but the dress is WAY too mature for her.

  • boweryboy

If the object here is 17 year old Abigail channeling 80 year old Mae West then she nailed it.

  • kirkyo

She was lovely on PR All Stars.

  • PastryGoddess

I can’t with that hair. her face looks amazing though

  • Imasewsure

It’s aging (hell, it’s Mae West as noted by other BKs before me) but I kind of dig this on her.

  • jonnyf8

I haven’t seen her in anything since Little Miss Sunshine. Is she any good? Doesn’t seem like she was a child for very long.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

She did an American Girl movie, also appeared in a romcom remake of “Mostly Martha” that starred Catherine Zeta-Jones in the Martina Gedeck role, and Aaron Eckhardt as the sexy souchef who wins Catherine’s heart.

  • ralish

I think she should try out a new look. Not sure blonde bombshell is the right fit.

    • MilaXX

Especially when she’s only getting the blonde part right.

  • elemspbee

that dress is transgenerational–she could pass it on to Julia R and then Meryl Streep next.

  • formerlyAnon

Is there a country club in Osage County? With a little seasonally themed jewelry, this would be perfect for the Christmas Dance.

  • marlie

What happened to the little girl who was in “Signs” and “Little Miss Sunshine?” I refuse to believe that this is the same person.

Her makeup/face look gorgeous. I think her hair is a little too fried on the ends. And aside from the fit issues on the dress, it’s way too mature for her. She went from age 10 to 40 and skipped right over her current age of 17.

  • BrooklynBomber

    Wait — what?!?

  • Glad to see the Widow Breslin is ready to date again.

  • ewes_urn_aim

Has anybody mentioned the Charlene Tilton resemblance yet?

    • formerlyAnon

Aaaargh. Can’t unsee. You are cruel.

  • Ragnarockette

As a former nail biter, I feel its my duty to shout this from the rooftops: there is no shame in acrylics!

  • MilaXX

Can someone please help this child remember she is still a teen, not a 35 year old extra on Dallas?

  • HeatherMcIlrath

looks like someone’s all grown up! and rocking a look that is both dolly parton and star trek! good for you abby

  • zuzu

That’s some amazing skin she’s got there.

  • MW

I wouldn’t recognise her if you didn’t tell me. Hate the hair and the dress, hopefully it’s just a misstep on her way to finding a grown up style, she’s got a great body but she needs to choose less obvious, more age-appropriate clothes.

  • ConnieBV

    God, I feel ancient.

  • Hair and makeup are aces, but the dress is way too old for her. I’d love to see her with the same hair and makeup in a more mod look, a simple a-line dress and tights would be seasonally appropriate. If she picked a dress with a modern pattern it needn’t go too costume-y.

  • Aidan B

    Happy 40th birthday, Abigail!

    • kipper

      for the 15th time!

  • TheOtherChristina

I have the same objections as the rest of you, so I won’t repeat them. I’ll just say that, all else aside, that makeup is KILLER.

  • decormaven

Dear, you have a LOOONG time to look mature. Wear something kicky and fun while you can. This is beyond aging.

  • Darcy H

Little Miss Sunshine is all grown up and vying for the lead role in a film about Miranda Lambert.

No but seriously it’s not just me right? She looks like a baby Miranda.

    • ThaliaMenninger

I was thinking Loretta Lynn by way of Charlene Tilton (see above) but it’s the same basic idea.

  • amf0001

At the first shot, I thought, she looks like a secretary at a Christmas party, and after I scrolled down, I thought, she looks like a secretary at a Christmas party in a long dress.

  • ThaliaMenninger

So Abigail Breslin grew up and turned into Charlene Tilton? She’ll be making her Dallas entrance or launching a country-western career any day now.

  • Tatiana Luján

    She looks like a mini-Adele.

    • ShaoLinKitten

      I thought the same thing!

  • fashion4ever

  • crash1212

She has beautiful skin. Seems a bit young to have “permanent bitch-face”. I want the ring.

  • She was literally standing in front of my apartment building yesterday at lunchtime (I think she was coming out of Serendipity 3 which is down the block from me). Adorably, she was in sweatpants (they looked like school gear) and looked much more like a 17 year old than she does here.

  • joancarol

    Meghan McCain

  • CakesOnAPlane

Wow, y’all are being Way Harsh, Tai. She’s 17, I’d rather see her covered up in a more mature silhouette than something that shows off the skills of her bikini waxer. Yes, this is mature, but it makes her curves sing. Also, her skin is just amazing.

  • KT

Nooooooooooo. no. no. mmmmm no. No!

  • alyce1213

Mae West is in this movie?

  • Gatto Nero

What’s with the smirk? That and the half-assed bleach job make this very “tough teen girl.” Except the dress is too old for her.
She’s still finding her style, maybe.

  • Trickytrisha

    Lamb dressed up as mutton.

  • LipstickForPigs

How can a dress be too big and too small at the same time?

  • SophieCollier

    I think she looks delicious.

  • Dorothy_on_the_yellow_brick_rd

I’m not loving the dress, but maybe Abigail and Julia should switch dresses. Put this red number on Julia so she could wear it with the green necklace. Abigail can wear the purple dress, but not with the platform pumps.

  • pdquick

And afterwards, she snuck into the theater next door to see “I Am Divine.”

  • quiltrx

I just love her…but boy, this hair color is NOT working for me. And it’s a great dress–maybe a bit mature, but not slutty like so many her age go these days.

  • Aaminah Khan

Save this look for when you’re getting whatever the CMAs equivalent of a Lifetime Achievement Award is, girlfriend.

  • Danielle West

    Oy. I worry about her.

  • Va-voom! Jessica Rabbit indeed. Love it.

  • Melanie Mundy

I haven’t seen any recent photos of her until now, and I may be delusional, but I think she looks great here. I always thought she was going to turn out awkward and unsure of herself. That dress compliments her curves well and the color makes her fair skin stand out. I don’t think she looks old. The dress is covering her up, but why do young people have to show skin to look nice? It seems like a very complete look to me, and her make-up is flawless. The people that say she looks 40+… that seems a bit exaggerated… one could only dream of looking like that when they’re 40. But maybe I’m just a sucker for that Jessica Rabbit shit.

  • amaranth16

Roots need touching up, but I think that dress looks fantastic on her.

  • Oh, honey. No.

  • What… happened to her?
