WERQ: Angela Bassett in Rachel Roy at the “Black Nativity” Premiere

Posted on November 19, 2013

There’s no reason for us to snap our fingers and tell Miss Angela to WERQ this fierce-as-shit getup.

Angela Bassett attends the “Black Nativity” premiere at The Apollo Theater in New York City in a Rachel Roy dress paired with a Swarovski clutch, Rafaello & Co Jewelry, and Christian Louboutin pumps.

Because she is FEELING IT at the moment and doesn’t need to be told a thing. Everything about this look is perfect. She looks amazing.

Bitch. Don’t. Age. She’s so beautiful I think I’ll kill myself.

  • MoHub

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

    Damn, girl.

    • Lollaleeloo

      ^ Verbatim.

  • nannypoo

She is hot and she knows it.

  • Tracy_Flick

And that, my friends, is how you apply red-carpet levels of eye makeup without looking like you were in a terrible car wreck and got two black eyes.

  • Nonmercisansfacon

So much love. And so much envy from my part! Would you freaking age woman?!

    • boweryboy

      She’s Marie Laveau for reals.

  • boweryboy

Go on gurl with your bad self!

    That dress is sorcery too.

    • NOLA_gal

I see what you did there.

  • ojosazules

    Making stunning look easy.

  • EEKstl

Whenever anyone asks me who I think the most beautiful woman on the planet is, I say Angela Bassett without hesitation. Bow down, mere mortals.

  • River

Her HAIR. And her…everything. I love this woman and she looks stunning.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Oh, mercy me. There’s so much fab going on here I feel faint!

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Love. Her. Hair. The rest of the look is good, but her hair is fantastic.

  • gksp

    Fabulous!

  • gksp

    Love the shoes!

  • crash1212

Amazing. This might be a WERQ hall of fame.

  • http://www.wordydoodles.com WordyDoodles

Look how much face she’s giving in just these few pics! Fierce, soft, glamorous, reserved, warm, cool. Everything. And she knows it. Iconic.

  • NBG

Wow. Just, wow. Two things: one, the hair really suits her. Two, I am going to the gym right now so I can look 1/4 that good at 55! Snaps of respect!

  • MitzyG

She is so gorgeous. Just keeps getting better.

  • Jessica Goldstein

She looks wonderful in all the pictures, but is especially beautiful when shot from behind pictured looking over her shoulder. That angle showcases her perfect bone structure. I also love this hair on her.

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Her Hair! Her Eyes! Her Legs! That Dress! Actually, the dress underwhelms, but she’s selling it full throttle, so it doesn’t even signify. Bow down, mortals.

  • rondele

I like it a lot, it’s just, the last few times her dresses have been these darker colors. I’d like to see her in some jewel tones, or just not black, charcoal, or grey metallic. Her makeup is perfect.

  • Brookwater

When I saw this picture on another site I was hoping that you would show a picture of her and Courtney in the “Pairs Division”. His ‘fit was kinda boring, but they looked so good together! And you are right–she is a WERQ with 2 snaps in a circle and Z formation! Luv huh!

  • Brookwater

And Black Nativity is one of my all time favorite holiday plays, I hope this movie does not disappoint. The previews look very different from the play

  • MiriamMc75

    Goddess!!!

  • jilly_d

    FACE, bitches.

  • In_Stitches

How the hell is she 55? I think she’s pulling a Jenna Maroney and lying about her age the other way. ‘Helen Miren-ing’

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

We’ve all heard “black don’t crack” but isn’t wonderful to see a “woman of a certain age” with such wonderful natural expressions and not all messed up with Botox and fillers!?! I’d much prefer to see one’s natural beauty shining through. You go Ms. Bassett! See you at the Emmys too!

  • bitchybitchybitchy

Ms. Bassett does fierce so well, that it’s a true pleasure to see that gorgeous smile. This is WERQing, and she knows it!

  • tmetz85

Fabulous, except the highlightimg above her lip makes it look like she had a runny nose.

  • SportifLateBoomer

BOOM. This is what 55 can look like! Love it all. Want it all. Well, maybe not the short curlies.

  • d4divine

    Confidence!!

  • WitlessExposition

Beautiful! She will always be the Storm of my dreams.

    • DB Ruberto

Indeed…. still makes my soul weep…

    • Adriana_Paula

      YES, dammit!

  • quiltrx

She’s serving up FACE…and hair…and legs…and, well, she’s just serving it all up, isn’t she? Perfection!

  • lillyvonschtupp

Angela is fine wine. She gets better with age. Look at those guns!

  • lillyvonschtupp

    Good Black don’t crack!

  • Alloy Jane

Damn. I mean seriously. Gawd damn.

  • Dagney

Whoa! Had a Whitney circa early 90′s flashback.

  • MannahattaMamma

I think she should offer lessons to all the flibbertigibbets currently doing the redcarpet sashay. This woman knows what werqs and makes no apologies. Bow the hell down Miley Cyrus: THIS is how you show the world who is boss.

  • Claudia

Why does my curly hair never look so pretty?!

  • Mona_Visa

That 7th pic from the top (4th from the bottom) absolutely slays me with its perfection. Bowing down.

  • styrch

I can’t help but think that this wouldn’t have been a WERQ on anyone else other than Ms. Angela Bassett. She definitely deserves a WERQ, but it’s a “safe” WERQ. I wish American Horror Story would just do an hour long with her doing nothing but ordering around her salon. I’d watch!

  • Kent Roby

Stella has certainly not lost her groove. Wow.

  • AnniNoone

Whoa. Hit your mark and SMOLDER, girl.

  • gigi kennedy

holy moly she is GORGEOUS!!! WERQ for sure!

  • Bradio311

    FLAWLESS!

  • NYCGlamourpuss

Shit, baby! H to T FIERCE! No question about it!

  • Danielle

    TWO SNAPS AND A TWIST

  • French_Swede

I wanna be her when I grow up.

  • Fred Vaughn

That whole look is doing the snaps for us!

  • LeelaST

The over-the-shoulder shot is so pretty! Love the shoulder detail, but not crazy about those black side strips.

  • BrooklynBomber

    Love, love, love her.

  • Aaminah Khan

I wish she was wearing a bracelet, but then my eyes go to THAT HAIR and I just don’t even care any more. She wins.

  • GTrain

    perfection!

  • guest2visits

Just beautiful, she looks amazing. Love the beautiful textured material and the fit.
It’s Angela, Kathy Bates, and Jessica Lange that made me start watching Coven.

  • Lilyana_F

    HOT DAYUM!

  • pdquick

I am about 1/64th Black. I would like to believe that this is the part. She gives this statuesque thing the not-so-white ladies in my family had, when it was not considered the standard of beauty, and I want to bow down at her feet for it. WERQin’ it for the team!

  • bringbackbeatles

I know I’m late, but I had to say that her hair is fierce as hell and I love the hoop earrings with it. Her face is beautiful. I like the dress, but it’s not about the dress, it’s about what she does to the dress with her werqin’ it attitude.
