Pretty dress! But what the frack is up with the gramma hair?

      • CT14

Very curly hair cut into a pixie. It will take years to grow out long enough to pull down those curls.

        • Emily Giovanni

oh, it’s just down but kind of hairsprayed back and up in the front? I thought it was an updo.

      • cakecakecake

OMG, TOOK THE WORDS OUT OF MY MOUTH. GRAMMA HAIR.

    • Latin Buddy

Wow. That is some Delta Burke realness right there.

      • Danielle

Took the words right out of my mouth.

        • NYCGlamourpuss

          Right?

          • Danielle

Side note, I love your avatar’s hair color.

            • NYCGlamourpuss

Thank you! That’s Jinkx Monsoon – I’m pretty sure that was from a photo of her at this past year’s Seattle Pride celebrations. Baby Girl loves herself a pink wig once in a great while!

      • MoHub

Except that Delta Burke wouldn’t show side boob.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Because she was the OG Christina Hendricks body type. Julia Sugarbaker would NEVER allow ample side boobage at her design firm.

          • Qitkat

I’d love a new comedy with the intelligent sass of Designing Women. And that would appeal outside the 19-49 demographic (well it could appeal to them too). We’ve been all but forgotten with the TV showrunners. Making fun of seniors ala Betty White just doesn’t do it for me.

            • http://skreened.com/bkcentral Sarah

DW appealed to me very much as a teenager, so I think you’re right. And that dress reminds me of when I wear one of the mister’s ribbed tank tops around the house and the armpits come down to my natural waist but nobody but the catz can see the potential nip-slippage, which they forgive because I’m most likely mucking out their boxes when I’m wearing it.

            • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

DW will *always* hold a special place in my heart. My mother was Julia Sugarbaker. In both appearance, clothing styles, accent and the ability to get on her soapbox and verbally slay any opponant.

You’re right though, there are no comedy ensembles where the 50+ character isn’t a running punchline. And no ensemble comedies where most of the characters are 50+.

            • MandyM

I named my daughter Julia partly after Julia Sugarbaker. I wanted a southern girl with class but also sass. I miss her! I channel her often when I say to my children (or my students,) “Have you all just COMPLETELY lost your minds?”

V.Hudgens can only WISH to be Suzanne Sugarbaker.

Is this why all the hair at the CMAs was so flat? Vanessa bought all the hairspray? Why couldn’t the whole frock be lined?

      • kimmeister

Oh my goodness, I didn’t realize those parts were unlined, I thought they just had a taupe background color. Yikes!

    • gabbilevy

That hair is HILARIOUS. But the dress works for her.

    • lbl

Her hair… now I want to watch the second Anne of Green Gables movie.

      • KateShouldBeWorking

I hope to jeebus she hits her man over the head with her clutch.

      • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

I jumped right to Anne with an E too.

    • Diego!

Honey, NO! You look like Austin’s mother!!!! NO NO NO

      • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

I think you’re being too hard on her. She looks pretty good for a woman who’s pushing 45.

    • Jessie Melcher Brown

      Annette Funnichello

      • stellamaris73

I was about to say my mother and Annette both sported this hairdo. In 1962.

    • NinaBoo

God, I hope this is for a role.

    • Janet B

Her escort has grown since he bought his suit!

I like her earrings and the dress fabric, the rest is horrible.

      • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

How old is this young man in the tight pants? Over 18, right? Asking for a friend…

    • Lori

The hair is ridiculous for someone her age. I’d like the dress a lot if it weren’t for the sheer nonsense and the sideboob. So close and yet so far, Hudgens.

    • altalinda

      Annette Funicello.

    • claudemtl777

      Imelda Marcos, Is that you?

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

What the actual fuck is happening on her head?

      • demidaemon

Your guess is as good as mine.

    • Qitkat

      The Thakoon strikes again.

    • MannahattaMamma

Fingernails. Be nice or she’ll flay your skin from your bones with her fingernails. Which were clearly the same tool she used to create the hairdo/birdsnest on her head.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Girl loves her dragon talons, does she not? Usually I am fine with them for ladies under 25, but these are too vicisous for anything outside of an S&M club.

    • valerie747

      Tinea versicolor.

    • schadenfreudelicious

Sister wife hair +Sideboob=oh hunny no

    • sagecreek

What’s with those sheer hem panels? They ruin what could have been a cute dress.

    • CommentsByKatie

Oh my god, absolutely adoring the Gibson Girl on her. Fabulous. Unexpected. A little tongue and cheek. Works with her big features. I love it!

    • NYCGlamourpuss

She looks GREAT for a woman her age! What’s that you say? She’s not 60? She doesn’t rank Anne Miller, Debbie Reynolds and Annette Funicello as her greatest influences?

      • Imasewsure

Good gawd someone cast her as Annette stat! She’s got the hair and dress already….

        • http://skreened.com/bkcentral Sarah

“Pineapple Princess: The Story of Annette Funicello, featuring Vanessa Hudgens” premiering this spring on Lifetime.

    • skitzfiggitous

“We would be honored to continue representing this great district in the state senate, working to make central Missouri a better place for you and your children! My sideboob and I will be out on that campaign trail, getting to know you—our constituents—and showing you that Rep. Butler and I will always put you—the people—first in our hearts! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!”

    • Ms Wiggins

Someone needs to cast her as Morena Baccarin’s bitchy, boozy younger sister on Homeland. (Is Morena Baccarin still on that show? Haven’t watched since season 1…)

      • Vickiefantastico

I thought it was Morena when I saw the thumbnail!

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Once again, while this is not a great hairstyle by any means, I find it vastly preferable to the far-too-prevalent “cocker spaniel” look. At least someone TRIED. The dress is just awful.

    • ashtangajunkie

The sheer panels and the way the fabric hangs between them makes me think of a loincloth. That’s the wrong hair for a loincloth dress. Also, nails. OUCH.

    • Vickiefantastico

Wow, that’s just awful. If we could calm the Granny hair, line the whole dress, and bring up the side boob armholes to look more normal, I’d actually like it. Although I’d probably be complaining that it was a little too boring. Guess I’m hard to please!

      • conniemd

I’m suspecting the dress was made put together and the designer said this is too boring. How about if we lower the armholes, take out the bottom lining except for the skirt front panel…..

    • Not applicable

It’s Annette Funicello! Beach Blanket Bingo! Mickey Mouse Club!

    • kimmeister

That has to be the perkiest side boob I’ve ever seen on display. The print of her dress makes me want to play that game where you get points if you enclose a box between the dots.

    • Valdri8

He looks like “Napoleon Dynamite gets kidnapped by Stacey and Clinton”

    • Carla_Charlton

      This seems seasonably inappropriate…

    • quiltrx

I don’t think I’ve ever used the term ‘upper sideboob’ before, but there it is.
Cute dress (though the sheer bits are just weird) ruined by styling.

    • http://twitter.com/irmaladuce_l8ly IrmaLaDuce

Can’t see past that wonky brow highlighter.

    • DTLAFamilies

Considering what she usually looks like, this isn’t bad. Even the hair is better than usual.

    • marlie

This is probably one of the most tasteful things she’s ever worn (even with the sideboob), and it still doesn’t do it for me. I’m not quite sure what’s going on with her hair, her makeup is STILL too heavy, and the dress plus shoes plus clutch are too summery. If she’s worn heavier/darker/different shoes and a different clutch, I could maybe get past this dress at this time of year. And her arm candy looks like a douche.

      Also: THOSE NAILS.

    • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

Thank you for showing us what you’ll look like in your 40s.

    • MilaXX

Bless her I think she’s trying to be classy however you can tell once again the dress doesn’t fit because there’s unnecessary sideboob which takes this right back to tacky-ville. The helmet hair isn’t helping.

    • YoungSally

Austin Butler is no Austin Scarlett. I thought he was a long-lost Culkin with that face.

      • Qitkat

He looks many years younger than she does, rather than two. But if they are happy…

        • conniemd

Seriously, I was thinking they looked like mother and son. But I don’t really know anything about either of them.

    • conniemd

White, sleeveless, sandals, huge underarm cutouts, sheer skirt.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

The whole look ages her about twenty years. I don’t think that’s what she was going for.

    • NoveltyRocker

Is she doing like a Natalie Wood thing?

    • RoseJB

No to the hair, the earrings and the length of the dress. She looks like she could be his mum.

    • Madam Von Sassypants

Bad hair, bad makeup, bad length, bad shoes.

    • ballerinawithagun

She just skipped all of those fun years and went straight to 50!

    • Lilyana_F

Oh, lol, that boy is smizing for his LIFE!

    • crash1212

I love the print. That is all.

    • Maluca

She’s giving me Morena Baccarin vibes.

      • Trickytrisha

Uh, Morena could eat her for breakfast.

    • Trickytrisha

Poufy pompadour hair, beach party dress, summertime sandals, 18 year old chauffeur… she’s headed to a 30 something ladies lunch at the local country club.

    • jjjoy

sup with the crazy, rich great aunt hair?

    • ThaliaMenninger

The shapeless bodice is SO not for her.

    • elirt

Wow, she really likes her boys to be pretty.

    • KT

      THAT. HAIR.

    • decormaven

Her hair reminds me of 80s Marie Osmond.

    • MissWix

I kept thinking she had a little baby fro. Odd.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

When did she turn middle aged?!

    • kmk05

      HAHAHAHA.

No. I can’t. The hair! The nails!

    • SaraQ

They look like two kids playing Camelot.

    • Miranda

      this is all so wrong.
