Taylor Swift in Reem Acra at the Centrepoint Winter Whites Gala

Posted on November 27, 2013

We don’t know….

Pretty enough, we suppose.

Taylor Swift attends the Centrepoint Winter Whites Gala at Kensington Palace in London in a Reem Acra gown paired with Neil Lane jewelry.

But it’s not doing great things for her boobs and the silver sheer is reading like a skin condition in certain shots. The skirt just kinda hangs off her, except for that one odd little flounce. You’d think Taylor Swift in a silver and white gown at a Winter Gala would be a no-brainer, but this feels oddly half-assed and it looks plain unflattering on her.

And I’m SO tired of her coy side gaze. Can she find another red carpet expression?

    • WendyD

It’s bordering on Resting Bitch Face.

      • marlie

        “Bordering on”?

    • SugarSnap108

The “Oh, you’re taking my picture?” side-glance makes me irrationally angry.

      • Rhonda Shore

        it’s beyond tiresome!

    • Ginger

I thought that I was the only one who got all stabby at that expression! I should’ve known that my fellow BKs would be way over it as well.

    • TwiddlyStun

I agree! I wonder how hard it is to break a habit like that. She might need to go to some “trainer” red carpets to practice. You know, some of the red carpets for events promoting new kitchen trash can liners or whatever the heck they have.

    • lifeisastory

Aw, cut her some slack. She’s put in a lot of practice time in front of the mirror to get it just right.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I was trying to take a selfie last night (new hairdo) and got 15 unusable pictures. Apparently I am incapable of making a pleasant facial expression. If I could find one that worked for me I would totally milk it (obvs I don’t have her level of genetic advantage, so she probably has more than one option but still…)

      • sojourneryouth

At least you didn’t default to classic selfie duck lips :)

        • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I’m too old, I don’t have the muscle control.

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Are you suggesting you prefer her to return to her OMG I’M SO SURPRISED face? I’ll take bitchface any day, no matter who’s serving it.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

I hate that! It’s as annoying as Miley’s tongue and wink.

      • mdcoon127

no not half as annoying I am beginning to hate red lipstick

  • Emily Smith

I like her lip color a lot.

  • Karen Belgrad

Way too White Swan for my tastes…

  • d4divine

Is she color blind, because it appears that gold and white are her only color palette most of the time.

  • Carleenml

A Winter Whites Gala before Thanksgiving seems so WalMart-y. And that pose. Oy, already.

  • MilaXX

It looks droopy and in need of a belt.

    • Sarah

      Belt, yes. First thought.

    • kimmeister

That thin strip of rhinestones definitely isn’t substantial enough to define the waist.

  • ballerinawithagun

Definitely half-assed. This is a gown??? There is nothing tying the bodice and skirt together to make it so. At least a belt with some lovely long dingle dangles. (Very specific, no?) Really needs either a fabulous necklace or statement earring. It is the beginning of something, just didn’t make it to the finish line.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Needs a whole different skirt. It doesn’t even look like the same shades of white.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I have to work “dingle dangles” in my conversation today. :)

    • StylishDreaming

A gown needs a belt to be called a gown? I don’t see anything wrong with the transition between bodice and skirt, and IMO there’s enough sparkle to eliminate the need for jewelry.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

No. All I see is melting candle. Her skin looks like it’s sliding right off of her bones. Frankly, it’s creepy and gross.

  • Danielle

Get her a double double, animal style. STAT.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1234087433 Jen Freeman

Seriously. Girl needs a cheeseburger and milkshake.

    • therealkuri

Not so much on the double double, but I think if one’s going to wear dresses that show off arms and shoulders, it would be better if she picked up some dumbbells every once in awhile.

      • marlie

Her arms are fine. And remember, we’re not supposed to be talking about her body here.

        • therealkuri

But how clothes reflect on particular bodies is a frequent subject. This bodice is not flattering to skinny arms and shoulders.

          • marlie

But the criticisms have to be/should be about the dress, not her. If the dress isn’t flattering on her for whatever reason, she needs to take the dress off and ship it to someone else, not that she needs to start some sort of new workout regimen. Sure, one could argue that it’s a matter of semantics, but we’re talking about how the clothes fit the body that the ladystar currently has.

          • therealkuri

But you’re cool with above posters recommending cheeseburgers and double doubles?

          • marlie

No, I’m not at all cool with that either. I happened to respond to your comment – which is part of the same thread – but we’re not supposed to be criticizing bodies here *at all.* it’s also not my job to police the comments and call out everyone who breaks the rules.

          • therealkuri

it’s also not my job to police the comments and call out everyone who breaks the rules.

Perhaps not your job, but you appear to be a very enthusiastic, if selective, volunteer.

          • marlie

Look, you have decided to take what I initially meant as a friendly and gentle reminder and turn it into a Very Big Deal. I’m sorry if you feel singled out; that was never my intention. Perhaps in the future. I’ll just leave it up to the actual moderators, though their reminders are generally not nearly as gentle or friendly as mine.

            Have a happy Thanksgiving.

          • therealkuri

Thanksgiving was last month, but I’m sure ceasing to get e-mail notifications of your replies will improve my day.

          • nobodynowhere

hey dont take out your bad mood on marlie

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1234087433 Jen Freeman

I is disappoint by this. The skirt is so odd, and it’s trying to be too modern for such a princessy bodice. Her hair looks like it’s escaping the pins, and she really needs to work on a facial expression other than “I’m officially legal and I know you want my innocent princess ass”.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Total Tay Tay “of course” moment.

    • Coleen

I was just about to say that she’s bordering on “OF COURSE” territory. Even if the requested dress code was white and black, she could have done much better than the expected.

  • OpinionatedMtnGirl

Needs a belt baaaadly. Even then I wouldn’t love it – the skirt is too Barbie circa 1989

  • jtabz

    fa-la-la-la-la … blah-blah-blah-blah.

    • Anna Vasquez

I have a simple brain and will be laughing over this all day. And in three days, I’ll remember it and laugh again.

  • Cameron Turner

Go have some turkey and pumpkin pie kids… this is beautiful and stunning…….

  • Adriana

In some shots the illusion netting is working just as intended, but then she catches the light wrong or hunches her shoulders and the illusion is shattered.

    • Stella Zawistowski

It’s a damn sight better than the illusion netting on that thing she wore to the AMAs, at least!

  • Tatiana Luján

I disagree completely. She looks beautiful and her attire is perfectly appropriate for a winter gala. I love the flounce of the skirt.

    • nobodynowhere

I agree completely. This is the perfect occasion for her to wear something like this. I think she looks great- love the lip color.

      • Tatiana Luján

I love the lip color too.

        • nobodynowhere

Doesn’t this whole thing seem kind of like a Taylor Swift song come true?

          • lifeisastory

Absolutely. Especially the one where she really really wants to be Grace Kelly

        • gigi kennedy

          LOVE the lip color too!

          • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

The lip colour is the best bit.

    • tereliz

Her hair is doing the same thing as that hip flounce. That kind of ruins it for me. It’s not awful, just kind of a weird nitpick.

    • Sam Smith

I think this is a really great look, although the lip color is a bit too strong.

  • Katesymae

See, I couldn’t disagree more. Might be a little too busty for Kensington Palace, but otherwise, I think she looks lovely (in that oh-so-safe TSwift in a white gown way).

  • paginatrix

Would be more flattering with a belt.

  • marlie

The dress is pretty, and for the most part, this is illusion netting deployed well. BUT… the bodice looks like it wants to slide off of her torso. And I find myself looking too closely to see if the bodice is lined or not. Her hair and makeup are pretty, but a bit standard for Taylor. So… it’s pretty, even though the fit isn’t perfect. But it seems like a bit of a regression on the style front for her.

  • Diego!

Flawless make up and hair! But the dress is lacking the wow effect. Doesn’t it? It looks odd, and it makes her tits look sad too.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

    Of course.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

The ring she’s wearing is worth more than my house…would it killed her to have gotten a manicure?

    • decormaven

Some pretty polish would have been a nice touch, for sure. BTW, I like the shade in your avatar. OPI Diva of Geneva perhaps?

  • Carly Jackson

I’m kind of thinking her plastic surgeon didn’t do great things for her boobs.

    • gayle

I was thinking Naya Rivera should look at this to see how to dress implants in a flattering way

  • nannypoo

I think it’s beautiful and it looks great on her. I’m not wild about the way the netting sticks out in the back, and her hair looks odd and contrived, but I actually love it. But then she doesn’t annoy me as much as she does everyone else, so I often think she looks pretty when no one else does.

  • Roz

it is pretty in that “I-wrapped-one-of-my-dad’s-handkerchiefs-around-Barbie-in-her-fancy-swimsuit” way.

  • Madu

It says tacky wedding dress to me…

    • Snailstsichr

And the bride should carry calla lilies to match that flounce.

      • Madu

I can almost smell the baby’s breath in the glitter covered mason jars…

  • MW

    Of course.

    Also baby heads.

  • filmcricket

I would like the bodice and the skirt if they were attached to different things – separately they’re both quite pretty but they seem to be in a fight with each other. Make-up is great.

  • Dora Kishinevsky

I like the row of Tardises behind her.

  • LKNisi

She doesn’t look like she’s having any fun at all.

    • Sabin

      She never has.

  • ccinnc

Hmm, I love her hair, makeup, and the gown. So it almost works IMHO. Not crazy about the chestal region, though.

    • conniemd

No booms!!!! She is growing them out and changing up her hair.

  • Laylalola

Are we sure it’s not a dress recently worn by Cathy Cambridge? (Forgive me, someone pointed out that Taylor’s little gold number from the AMAs the other night was worn by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for a Glamour shoot where she was draped over the laps of the One Direction boys. Now I can never look at Taylor and her thoughts behind why she wears what she does in quite the same way.)

  • Claudia

Oh, I’m glad it wasn’t just me who was staring at her boobs trying to figure out what the hell went wrong…

  • poggi

I think when you wear as many white sparkly gowns as she does and you are photographed as often as she is, you choices get narrower and you end up with fewer great options and even less impact from them. Which is a long winded way of saying, do something different. I like that she changed up the hair. It’s pretty.

  • jonesybj_notreally

Hair and makeup are gorgeous. not sure how the designer decided to go with that join for the bodice/skirt. especially a skirt that drapes that much. it’s like there are weights in the skirt flattening her boobs.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

    Frosted tits.

  • Nancer

Gosh, guys, I usually agree with you, but today I don’t! I think she looks beautiful, and I love her makeup. That lip color on her is so pretty.

  • ikillplants

May I also point out that this gala took place at Kensington Palace and was hosted by Prince William (aka Bill Cambridge)? Can the kittens imagine any other event where Taylor can indulge her myriad princess fantasies so literally?? Tee hee.

  • LeelaST

That first shot is lovely but she looks so much like a mannequin in every photo it’s unnerving.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

Yeah, it’s weird. I think if the whole thing had been silver glitz, it would have been better. But that skirt looks like the bottom half of another dress, it looks like an afterthought. It looks like an overly-ambitious PR contestant who ran out of time.

  • veriance

Send this dress to Nicole Kidman. You need more color.

  • YoungSally

Is her underwire pushing up under her left armpit?

  • Anna_Cecilia

I saw these photos briefly on another site and my initial impression was a Jean Harlow-lite kind of vibe. Now…eh. The sheer part looks especially awkward in the second last photo. I do like the lip colour though and the ice princess thing is in her wheelhouse, so there’s that.

  • Anplica Fiore

She’s a fairy-princess figure skater with all that illusion netting.

  • mrspotts66

i like it! and i’m not a TS fan at all.

  • Chillmer

What? That’s gorgeous, full stop. So gorgeous I almost dropped an F bomb. She looks like a fairy tale. That is a dream dress.

  • AnnaW

I believe I would be on constant bodice-slippage alert throughout the entire evening, which wouldn’t be much fun. It looks like the whole top needs to be hiked up about an inch or two.

  • kimmeister

That particular brand of hair asymmetry sets off my OCD.

  • http://robot-heart.tumblr.com/ heartbot

    I think it’s stunning.

  • Trickytrisha

The bodice design and that illusion fabric do her chest no favors whatsoever. Skin condition indeed. It’s a wonky dress overall, but I do love her hair and face. A manicure would be nice though.

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

It seems like a dress that requires a bit more PRESENCE.

  • RoseJB

This dress makes her boobs look old and implanty.

  • formerlyAnon

    Nice ring.
I judge the dress harshly because her usual standard is much higher – she may tend to the monochromatic but it’s usually pretty & flattering.

  • Lorelei_D

I bet the dress looks pretty IRL, but she doesn’t seem to like herself in it. Absolutely love her hair, but would have preferred the makeup to be toned down – that heavy and contour-y just reads old.

    • alyce1213

There have been a lot of pics of this dress, a very big deal being with the Cambridges. In every other non-RC shot I’ve seen — candid, chatting, in softer light — this looks so much better.

  • mom2ab

    Needs a belt.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I’m imagining the argument that caused her boobs to stop speaking to one another. Yay, holiday day drinking.

  • Michelle Wilson

She looks like a teenage girl who’s pulled her halter top down a bit to look more sexy. Everything above the waist is sitting too low on her and is unflattering.

  • E. D.

Almost looks like it needs a belt.

  • SylviaFowler

Until now I didn’t realize that she has implants.

  • rondele

It’s not horrible, but I think she could join the ranks with Lea Michele as an “Of course.” For evening wear these colors are her go-to favorites.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QFW22QV426LUOEPGASPZJWJMDE MishaFoomin

I like the single flounce, but the top half makes her look older than she is, especially the last picture where she looks almost like a senior citizen.

  • ThaliaMenninger

So she’s trying to become Nicole Kidman then.

  • ShaoLinKitten

This dress makes her look like she’s had a boob job. It shouldn’t look as bad as it does considering what it is.

  • guest2visits

This much illusion netting should look bad, but it doesn’t here. This looks light, gossamer, and beautiful on her.

  • Betsy

That bra definitely has those “chicken cutlet” thingies in it. They sit in the bottom of the bra cups, under the actual breast tissue, to push up the boob-age that she *does* have. Not a good look.

  • Lauren S

Honestly it looks like Joan Rivers wearing Taylor Swift’s skin… just something about it.

  • Sadie-Ann

Can we stop with the ice skater tops?

  • CT14

I don’t like the way it cuts her in half.

The 9 year old is also unimpressed. If TaylorSwift in a white, sparkly princessy gown fails to impress the 9 year old, something has gone horribly wrong.

  • ThesisMonkey

the illusion netting shoulder seam is super distracting.

  • Imasewsure

Agreed it’s not really working. Hair and makeup are pretty but the dress is kind of dull and ill-fitting. No love

  • lrhoff

I think she looks stunning. Nice look.

  • oklund

I love it. Prettiest she’s ever looked to me.

    • valerie747

      I agree.

  • Nika E

    Yawn

  • Akemi

She bores the crap out of me.

  • Erica_Vuitton

I was about to say FINALLY illusion netting I can get behind…until the second to last pic where it gaps like whoa. Sorry Tay maybe next time.
