Nina Dobrev in Naeem Khan at “The Vampire Diaries” 100th Episode Celebration

Posted on November 11, 2013

More color, darlings! We’re GAGGING on color today! Praise the Fashion Fairies!

We just made them up! We always wanted to start our own religion.

Nina Dobrev attends “The Vampire Diaries” 100th Episode Celebration in Atlanta, Georgia in a Naeem Khan dress paired with Brian Atwood shoes and an Amanda Pearl clutch.

Naeem Khan Spring 2014 Collection

The second we saw this collection on the runway, we found ourselves silently pleading with the Fashion Fairies to make sure it wound up on the backs of ladystars on red carpets. This is just the kind of visually explosive eye candy the red carpet demands. Sure, goddess gowns and chic LBDs are nice and all, but give us some BOLDNESS on the RC any day of the week.

Bad makeup, but great shoes. Bless.

      • KT

Totally agree. And I soooo wish I could afford that dress…

      • Random Compliments

It looks like last night’s makeup.

      • Katesymae

Agree. From the neck up, she’s looking a bit Jersey Shore.

    • fiddlecub

It’s so hard for me to appreciate the boldness of this, if only because she needed some zhuzhing. Slap on a bangle, or even better, a bright smile. She looks so dour that the joy of the dress is diminished.

      • Shannon Beamer

Agreed on the need for a restrained bangle or pair of earrings here. Don’t want to upstage the dress, but I wouldn’t mind a little sparkle.

    • gabbilevy

Could have used a bit of sparkle on the wrist or ears, but the dress looks great on her.

    • 3boysful

Love it, but would love it more if it were a skosh longer. Besides the proportions bugging, I want the lucky ladies who get to wear these things to be able to do more than stand like a mannequin without having a wardrobe malfunction.

      • hughman

“One word from me and the world is your gynecologist!’

        • Darva Sutra

          Love You!

        • NYCGlamourpuss

          That’s awesome!

    • charlotte

Naeem Khan is my favorite spring 2014 collection, but this is not my favorite dress.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Can’t knock a thing here aside from the too under played makeup. Bit of lip color would have helped a lot.

      • fursa_saida

I mostly agree, but I feel like the hair is somehow overdone. Maybe if it were shorter, or if the contrast between the relatively straight top and curly length were less sharp…I don’ tknow.

    • Carrie

Agreed it needed a bit more length. A lot of the pics it looks like she’s tugging at the bottom of the dress.

      • MoHub

Whatever you do, girl, don’t bend over.

    • Shannon Beamer

I just covet this dress, and think it looks fabulous on her. Makeup is not my favorite, but I’m willing to overlook it this time.

      • Shawn EH

Agreed. If you’ve got gams like she does, why not go for it?

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Very lovely. Shame she looks so emotionally blah, with the toes to match.

      • Trickytrisha

Yeah, those toes are definitely feeling lackluster.

      • decormaven

She got to wear this fab outfit, but didn’t spring for a pedi? So sad.

      • willworktomorrow

I am chubby and work for a nonprofit and my toes look better than that. I mean… PLEASE.

    • Danielle

Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas are Nina’s legs.

      • kimmeister

She has the kind of legs that can actually look good in ankle strap shoes.

      • Scimommy

        Yikes, gruesome!

Oh wait, you meant… Never mind.

    • Isana Leshchinskaya

orange is having a moment. curse my rosy alabaster coloring!

      • NYCGlamourpuss

I’m with you. Orange and yellow are two colors that you’ll never see me in – I look atrocious in them.

    • teensmom99

Can we just call the Fashion Fairies the mascots of your anniversary and hope that they do their magic in the first few weeks of November every year. I’m already working on the mythology of holiday “Once there was a season when it was not hot but not really cold and women all over the red carpets of the land knew not what to wear. In this difficult time, they defaulted to black and white and sometimes beige. And there was great sadness in the land . . then the great SCOTUS spoke and the Fashion Fairies emerged, bringing joy, good tidings and COLOR!!!!!” And so every year, as the leaves turn magestic colors, famous women who get tons of free stuff begin to demand color–and all was good.”

    • gloriana232

Is that a navy clutch with black shoes? Weird.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

That’s setting the bar pretty low on weirdness. Matching shoes and clutch is a bit twee.

        • gloriana232

No … it’s because navy and black are so close enough that putting them together rides the line between “trying to match but failing” and “not really thinking about it.” *I* like to mix navy and black, but in some circles, it’s like dressing in the dark, especially with accessories. Wearing a black coat with a navy scarf is somewhat different from pairing a navy purse with black shoes … even THEN, quite different when you’re just wearing your daily outfit and wearing some kind of red carpet ensemble.

The dress has so many colours that they could have gone with a brighter shoe and kept the navy clutch. The clutch is also kind of meh … satin with a jewel is kind of mother-of-bridal.

    • Introspective

loving this dress because the colors SING on her skintone and the way it hugs the curves is fierce too. snaps girl!

    • hughman

Our Color, who art in heaven…

    • LadyCelia

      Terrific dress for her.

    • lunchcoma

Love the dress. Not so fond of the hair.

    • MilaXX

Pretty but she needs a pedicure

      • http://skreened.com/bkcentral Sarah

And some color on her face. Not asking for too much, but she looks so washed out :(

        • mlle

A faintly coral lip would improve things exponentially.

    • DominoEstella

What a lovely shirt, I wish she would have worn some pants with it. I have a thing about feet.. if you are missing a toenail or two.. or it looks like you are, please wear a closed toe shoe.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

The non-jewelry trend irks the hell out of me. This is a dress that screams for earrings and bangles.

    • marlie

This is great – I love this on Nina. The styling is a little bland, but the dress has so much going on by itself that it doesn’t really bother me. Pretty!

    • kmk05

      That’s too many extensions.

The dress is nice, but it’s all a bit expected from Nina Dobrev: this is exactly her wheelhouse in terms of dress shape, and I just find myself nitpicking her hair (horrible) and her makeup (tired).

    • Leah Elzinga

soooo, no Barbie-loving little girls in the TLo universe? I am so embarassed to be bringing this up, but Barbie’s got her Fashion Flairies (seriously). They have special powers of glitter. Pretty sure she’d lend them to our favorite Uncles.

    • Trickytrisha

That is a rather glorious dress, if a tad too short. Love love love the colorful, whimsical print. About the no jewelry complaints – when you’ve got a dress this spectacular, why detract from it by adding bling? The dress is enough eye candy for me.

    • cocohall

She looks like a Barbie where you pull the hair and it “grows” 3 inches. I wished she had pulled it back and done a fabulous earring instead of obscuring her terrific little top with her mane. And then put on pants. She was a bit rushed getting ready, no?

We won’t speak of the nonexistent pedi. If you have no time for pants, clearly a pedi isn’t going to make the cut.

    • Kelly

Cute (though too short) dress. But what’s with her knees? Is that dry skin, or has she been borrowing Lady Gaga’s flour-powder?

    • Not applicable

Again! Spring/summer. I get it, it’s next season- but stop it- it was 40 degrees yesterday- this summer get up looks silly.

      • mlle

I give her a pass, since she’s in Atlanta.

        • Not applicable

ah- ok. I’m bitchy b/c i’m in NYC and freezing my ass off.

          • mlle

I’m in NYC also, but lately have been at work too much to notice the weather.

            • Not applicable

boo. I know. Just met a friend for lunch… we realized it’s been 6 months since we last had lunch. wtf is wrong with me?

            • mlle

I decided to go out for lunch near my office the other day and, despite having been here for over a year, had to ask a coworker what was nearby.

            • Not applicable

              that’s a bad sign. :/

    • Imasewsure

I love it but I can’t with the length… I just want two more inches although she looks great of course

    • Lilithcat

Love the dress, but would love it more if it were two inches longer.

      Hate the shoes.

    • alyce1213

Adorable dress, too short, too much hair (extensions).

    • Samantha

Lots of beautiful color color today and yet Lupita still wins best dressed imo

    • conniemd

It’s Naeem Khan. I’d expect him to make the red carpet women look like a feast to the eye.

    • LeelaST

Totally naming this the “My Little Pony Dress.”

    • jw_ny

      love it! :D

    • http://weirdinedgewise.blogspot.com ONEWEIRDWORD

Great dress! I really really love it.

    • GillianHolroyd

For the love of Dovima, lose the ten pounds of hair.

    • CommentsByKatie

Bless this bitch. She is annoying on Vampire Diaries but I love her on the red carpet.

      • quiltrx

Amen! I don’t watch the show so no opinion there, but she almost always wears something I love on the RC!

    • unbornfawn

      I like it.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

love love love this dres and she is so cute. but honey, can we talk? if you’re going to get your picture taken in open shoes, get a pedicure next time, mmkay? just sayin’.

    • SorayaS

I also love the texture of it!! Fabulous dress.

Also like the shoes but that is where it ends. Bad clutch, bad hair, and really really bad makeup from a woman who is usually flawless on that front. But a dress like that does take attention away from any of those other issues so well done there Nina

    • Diego!

From neck down it’s a WERQ! From neck up is a WTF??? Her make up is dreadful! She looks as if she were a 50 year old woman trying desperately to look much younger. I hate her hair too. It’s a big OUT from neck up and a WERQ from neck down!

    • http://thishotoldbroad.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

      That dress is wonderful!

    • carnush

I get that they wanna be the first to wear something off the runway, but is seasonal dressing gone forever? Granted, it is Atlanta. But still, it’s snowing for god’s sake.

    • sagecreek

I love this dress and the way it fits her, wish it was a scoonch longer.

    • Sunraya

Love the dress – she usually picks great dresses!! But I wish her hair were at least back, if not up.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

Really beautiful on her, but just the teensiest bit too short. Other than that, no complaints!

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Points for bold, but her hair covers more territory than her dress.

    • steeg of their own

No. There is something to be said for bold, but if Nina’s figure can’t make this mess look good, then it never had any business appearing near a red carpet to begin with. Nina Dobrev is the next best thing to an actual mannequin. If it doesn’t look good on her, there isn’t a person on the planet that this hot mess would actually flatter.
