Nikki Reed in Camilla and Marc at the 2013 TeenNick HALO Awards

Posted on November 19, 2013

Our first instinct was to inform Miss Nikki that this is NOT her dress (or separates).

Nikki Reed attends the TeenNick HALO Awards in a Camilla and Marc dress paired with Giuseppe Zanotti white pumps.

Camilla and Marc Fall 2013 Collection

And while that’s true, it really isn’t meant for her, the very act of saying that implies that it’s meant for some other lady and frankly, we can’t think of one who could pull this off. Zoe Saldana maybe?

No. You know what? We’re working our way through this one; stay with us. We thought the shape here was making this tough for her to pull off, but it’s the design itself, which makes it look like she’s wearing a giant undershirt under a dress. That’s not gonna work for anyone.

If the white part were black, I think this might work, but as it is, ugh.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I agree absolutely. Black would have really sold me on the look.

  • ChaCha_70

Agree with you about the dress. Despite that, i think she looks cute.

  • marlie

The white part of the outfit is what ruins it, precisely because she looks like she’s wearing a shirt under the top. But I love the prints, and this could have had such potential without the weird white part. I also think she looks good with darker hair, (though she looks a lot like Michelle Rodriguez), but the white mani was a bit too much.

This looks like a weird scuba outfit…and that hair style…and some lipstick please?

  • Jen

Without the white undershirt and scuba zipper I think this would be really cute and venue appropriate….. which I suppose is drastically changing the garment.

  • charlotte

So she’s not wearing a giant undershirt?

  • mjude

    what’s with the hair?

    • GillianHolroyd

She might have salvaged this if she’d done something more considered with her hair. Running a brush through it before dashing out the door doesn’t cut it.

  • hughman

Volleyball Champion Awards Dinner. Hence the “spike” heels.

  • MoHub

This skirt is not why DVF invented the wraparound.

  • MilaXX

I don’t think this is pretty, but I don’t hate it ether. It’s somehow both overly complicated and boring at the same time. It just feles like someone repurposed a couple of men’s vest.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Nailed it. This looks both heavy and as if it was made of jacket lining.

      • Sarah

Kinda thought she looked like she was attacked by a giant, anaconda-like necktie while wearing her nightshirt.

    • Meg0GayGuys6

Haha and I thought the top half looked like a wet suit

  • Tatiana Luján

I don’t dislike the undershirt effect, but the top is way too busy: undershirt effect, waist band, zipper, side pannels in other fabric.

  • sagecreek

Maybe I’m still in shock from the Catching Fire gals, but I kind of like it

I don’t love it, but there’s something crisp and appealing about it

    • gigi kennedy

i’m with you. i’m kinda liking it but no idea why. definitely would have preferred different shoes tho.

  • Karen Belgrad

I wonder what it would look like against a non-conflicting backdrop…

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I really love the contrasting prints, and without the white and the zipper we might be on to something. But then the shape would be really drab.

  • In_Stitches

The print is really, really ugly. 1970′s deeply discounted upholstery.

  • alyce1213

There was potential here, but the white part is wrong. As are the white shoes.

  • Jumpingjacks

I like it, I like the zipper (never be afraid of a good zipper), I like the white.. now let someone of the teen generation wear it, it’s just an outfit one must not wear when you look above 20 (or possibly 18)

  • Imasewsure

I actually like the outfit but I hate the shoes and the hair style… the outfit I can live with

  • appliquer

I like the print, but not with the white weird shapes. And what is with all the white shoes? Don’t these people know it is after Labor
    Day?!!!

  • amanda lynn

Never thought I’d seen an outfit where the white-out fingernails work.

  • Glam Dixie

    Awkwaaaard!

  • tereliz

    Kiernan could make it work.

    • sagecreek

Unfair. Kiernan could make a garbage bag work. It’s part of her special skill set as an alien from the planet of Perfectica.

  • ThaliaMenninger

I kind of love it. She needs those black booties, though. The white shoes are so wrong. But I like the cartoon fun of the dress on her.

i’m with you! i thought i was going to be the only kitten in the world who liked this. i even like the shoes. that katy perry hologram has put me in one wild and crazy mood!

  • E. D.

The white sections ruin it, a dark red would have been better.

  • Jaeda Laurez

I think the backdrop doesn’t help- the white sections against the white backdrop are not good. It would actually LOOK as intended against a different color. .

  • Tracy_Flick

That pattern is very United Airlines 1991.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

It’s two thirds of a great dress. If her head didn’t look so fab, this would be a disaster.

  • crash1212

This isn’t the most flattering thing I’ve ever seen, but her accessorizing isn’t helping matters. Those shoes are awful on their own, but they certainly don’t go with this outfit. The neck piece and the boots on the model make all the difference.

  • CommentsByKatie

And the shape detail on the skirt where it pulls away really makes it look like it’s stretching over the hips, which isn’t true at all. Gives the illusion of ill fit, which is never good.

  • another_laura

    ugh. that is all.

  • kimmeister

I don’t mind the white part at the waist, it’s the undershirt effect at the arms that ruins it.

  • quiltrx

Looking at the model, this could possibly be Rooney’s outfit.
P.S. those fabric patterns look like tour bus seats. Or possibly airplane seats. Kinda bad.

  • Michelle Wilson

I think Lupita Nyong’o could make it work. That white would really pop against her skin and look less like an undershirt.

  • LadyLuck777

Is it me or does the print look like a screencap from the old Dr. Mario game?

  • Daniel

I thought it was Olivia Wilde at first… She would look great in something like this.

  • LeelaST

I think it’s really cute. Maybe the S&R backdrop is making it odd? Against a black background the white might look better. (If I showed up at an event with a dress that matched the backdrop I’d fire my stylist!)

  • BrooklynBomber

I almost like it. If the white was black or another color, it’d work okay, I think.
