Miley Cyrus in London

Posted on November 13, 2013

We can’t work up the hate for this look. In fact, we kind of like it for her.

Miley Cyrus arrives at BBC Radio 1 Studios in London in an Alexander McQueen turtleneck sweater and Versace pants paired with a Chanel bag and T.U.K. creepers.

It’s kind of trashy and stupid-looking (which means it suits her at the moment), but it has just enough of a sense of fun to it that we don’t mind it.

Is it us, or does she walk like a cartoon character?

A cartoon character, or Herman Munster.

    • GorgeousThings

Those shoes would make a ballerina walk like Herman Munster!

      • mshesterp

        Those shoes are freaking ridiculous.

        • Jacqueline Wessel

I know, but I want them so bad anyway. (Honestly though, I don’t think I could pull them off)

          • Andsheewas

My 90s kid is obsessed with those shoes.

          • leahpapa

As was I, in the 90s. Didn’t know they were back.

          • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

They remind me of Ducky in Pretty in Pink.

          • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

            Ducky’s shoes were nicer.

          • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

            And more practical!

          • fursa_saida

I have a somewhat similar pair, but think simple black oxfords on a (flat) platform. I love ‘em. They’re fun in the same stompy cartoon way but a bit more chilled out.

      • ballerinawithagun

        Exactly!

  • Danielle

Her tits and ass are covered. That’s all I can muster.

    • MoHub

      And no tongue in sight!

      • Sobaika

No tongue, no dead rappers, no plea to STOP THE VIOLENCE.

That’s a win if there ever was one.

        • KateShouldBeWorking

What a pathetically low bar to clear.

          • Mismarker

I’m clearing it right now and I’m still in my bathrobe.

        • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

If these things were handed out on a curve, this would get her a WERQ.

        • Catiline

She stopped the violence against my eyes, at least.

    • kbshee

      Nun wear for Miley.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Considering Gaga spent her time in London working the barefoot and deranged shtick, I’m happy to see weather appropriate attention whoring. I hate her shoes, but we know I’m no fun.

    • Alison

I hate her shoes, too. They’re like something Frankenstein’s monster would wear.

    • hughman

Those shoes! Oh gurl, sit down and we’ll talk. SO hiddy. SO done. SO “on sale at Hot Topics”.

    • mlle

She thinks she’s in a competition with the Spice Girls circa 1996 for the ugliest footwear.

    • conniemd

I hate her shoes too, but they do make the outfit look more like fun. The pants are pretty gacky, but with those shoes it takes away the stripper wear look from them.

      • Ginny Ellsworth

And turns it into “geriatric stripper wear.”

        • Annaline39

          lol orthopedic stripperwear

      • Rhonda Shore

i like those shoes actually, and find them refreshing after looking at so many stilettos. All in all, it’s a cute look.

  • Latin Buddy

It’s the HORRIBLE shoes. PLEASE PLEASE tell me the 90s platforms aren’t coming back. Ladies, please! No platforms or chunky-heels. It makes your ankles/feet look huge!

    • marlie

      I hate to tell you, but it’s too late. They’re baaaack. {shudder}

    • boweryboy

The shoes are “creepers” and they’ve been around since the ’80s, maybe even earlier than that.

I speak from experience. I owned several Londond Underground pairs back then.

      • zenobar

Heehee! I had to order my stuff from Commander Salamander.

        • Annaline39

          I loved Commander Salamader!

  • mmebam

    Dem shoes! Chile, I canNOT!

  • hyperionic

    Great 90s popstar look.

  • RussellH88

Hasn’t she been wearing those shoes a lot lately?

  • Carrie

Trashy but fun is perfect description. I like it!

  • Brett

She’s giving us the finger in photo 6. She’s just being Miley…

    • Steven Thomas

      good catch

  • hughman

I never in a million years thought Club Kid/”Party Monster” would become a retro fashion look.

    • formerlyAnon

Live long enough and it ALL cycles around to feature in bastardized form at 10th grade theme dances.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Girly is fully immersed in the E culture.

  • xmixiex

she does everything like a cartoon character, it’s only fitting.

  • melanie0866

I do like that she’s not wearing high heels.

  • sagecreek

The shoes are cute. But yes to the cartoon walk. Grace is something she just can’t buy.

  • Dave Provost

Those shoes are creepers and they are awesome. This is a perfectly fine young rock star look. Good job.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

Modern day Felicia Hardy. Love this!

  • kalisa

Plus, she’s not trying to flash her vagina at anyone.

  • Courtenay P

    Oh this is totally cute.

  • SportifLateBoomer

I think it’s actually fun and kind of adorable! It does suit her personality. She seems more relaxed/not trying so hard to be outre here. And no tongue for days, for which I am grateful.

Those clodhoppers contribute to her inherent cartoonishness. She’s doing her bit to make creepers happen again.

Maybe this somewhat ever so slightly more subdued Miley is Phase 3 of her quest for world domination.

    • Lanus

All the photos with fans are a little bittersweet and telling. It’s the most natural and “herself” she’s looked, just comparing idevices with other teenagers. Miss I’M A GROWNUP NOW, LOOK AT MY ASS CHEEKS!!!!! doth protest too much.

      • Sunraya

I though that too. She seems really nice and into meeting other young people. It made me feel kind of bad for her. I don’t think these kids’ lives are easy.

      • SportifLateBoomer

        good observation! You’re right.

  • willworktomorrow

I immediately thought cartoon character! Or an avatar of an actual person.

  • marlie

The jacket is hiddy, those pants are a yeast infection waiting to happen, and I hate the shoes, but for Miley, this is fine and acceptable.

ETA: It’s “Miley,” without being “WTF, MILEY?!?”

  • kittenwithaquip

I’m sure it’s a sign of my own poor taste (or living through the late-80s-early ’90s, but I much prefer the creepers to the de rigueur stripper shoes that would normally be paired with that outfit.

    • zenobar

Hear, hear. I do like to see a woman who’s able break into a run if necessary.

      • Ginny Ellsworth

Kind of makes me wonder what you’ve been up to????? ;-)

        • zenobar

Oh, saving people from oncoming buses, leaping buildings in a single bound, running from the paparazzi…you know, the usual. :)

          • NYCGlamourpuss

            In other words, Wednesday!

          • Ginny Ellsworth

I missed you so much Wonder Woman!

      • http://skreened.com/bkcentral Sarah

This is why I never get “gangsta” from dudes who have their jeans belted around their thighs (IRL that is. Limo-denizens are a whole otha level). If you’re up to real criminal activities on the street, you’d need to be able to LET GO of your jeans and RUN if things got dicey. And yes, I do know what I’m talking about.

        • formerlyAnon

          Heh.

    • conniemd

Yep. Said about the same thing before I read your post. The shoes made the outfit more fun than tacky stripper.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

I love the shoes. I’ve always liked Creepers. They’re not my style, but I’ve always thought they were cute and comfy looking.

  • boweryboy

I like the bottom half. I don’t know what to think about the top half. Also, the blacks don’t match so that makes me crazy.

  • mjude

love the shoes, cant help myself

  • Lola Channing

she’s going to have a saggy ass when she gets older.

  • SewingSiren

Looks like she had a growth spurt.

  • E2_Remote

With the exception of that emerald gown she wore a few weeks back, she always looks like a complete dork to me – dork face, dork posture, dork mannerisms, etc.

  • Adrianna Grężak

I’ve noticed in other pics that she takes really long steps…

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

it’s a court jester suit, with clown shoes. perfectly appropriate for miley’s role in society.

  • kayleymaybe

She’s a multi-millionaire who dresses like she’s been shopping at Hot Topic and Wet Seal in the 1990s.

  • ana170

I like the idea but I hate the shoes and somebody ought to tell her she doesn’t have the butt to pull off pants like this. After all the Gaga posts and now this one, I’m starting to get scared of what I’m going to find in the “celebrity in London” posts.

  • TheAutisticStepmom

It’s been done. By high schoolers a decade ago.

    • JDreesen

*two decades ago, even. at least, it was happening at my high school back then.

maybe not so much fur. but i’m fairly certain we had a specific clause in our dress code about fur being verboten.

  • bravobravp

I will not support those shoes.

  • lunchcoma

I’m not a fan of those shoes with those pants, but yeah, it’s cute in a silly way.

  • MilaXX

I have to admit, I love a well deployed pair of creepers

  • Synnae

This seems to be her current style: worst of the nineties… I’m just happy she is covered up for once!

  • Fordzo

From the waist up, she makes me think of Pepe Le Pew.

  • Shawn EH

Were it not so silly, this would be a WERQ! Or at least a tWERQ?

    • Nancer

      Oh no you didn’t! :]

  • quiltrx

At least she has on pants.
I think the stupid walk is from the platforms on the shoes (which would be awesome without those soles).

  • madscntst

Can’t work up the hate? Not to worry, darlings, I have plenty to spare. Stop by for a cup of hate anytime.

  • Janet B

    Funny, silly and somewhat adorable.
    (can’t help myself)

  • jjjoy

    snooze.

  • crash1212

It’s all fine – for her – except the shoes. Those shoes are just stupid.

  • formerlyAnon

I like everything but the shininess of her lower limbs.

Anyone wearing those shoes (which I think are fun, in context) would walk like a cartoon character.

  • jjtxgrrl

I didn’t even have to work up hate….I just hate it.

Course I’d expect nothing but tackiness from such a deplorable excuse for a woman. (Maybe I’m biased against her. Ha.)

Really uncles….you like this???? What, might I ask, is good about this?

  • NYCGlamourpuss

    Whew! MUCH better!

And yes, I looked at that stupid way she walks in that last picture, then read your comment. She totally has weird walk.

  • formerlyAnon

P.s. Her jean-jacketed minder is kind of cute, no? Though the jacket is either too tight or he’s got an oddly bunched up jumper underneath it.

  • Thundar99

Talk about burying a lead…all i can see is her bodyguard working those jeans, that belt and that scarf! Mmm!

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Are those shoes orthopedic? At least her naughty bits are covered.

  • Leslie Streeter

At least she’s not wearing dead icons on her butt. So, there’s that.

  • jbj

She’s getting a lot of mileage out of those shoes, but I’m starting to love her.

  • Maggie Smith

GAWDS I hate creepers!! Well, let me re-phrase that. I hate it when Women wear creepers. Of all the fun things that happened in the ’90s for her to latch on to, I am a wee bit flummoxed by her love for creepers. I keep seeing her in them. Combat boots would look WAY better with what she’s got on.

  • letter_M

Kinda dig the whole look, and I’m a sucker for creepers.
Only thing is can’t she do better than Hot Topic for that jacket? Superfug.

  • Imasewsure

Don’t love the shoes here although they are pretty cool but this look belongs to another “star”… Rita Ora.

Still I like it – it’s fun and not too over the top

  • decormaven

Love her nail color! No problems with this look.

    • Trickytrisha

My only problem with the look is that it’s on HER.

  • andreawey

downright conservative for her, cute and fun…. well, could certainly be worse……

  • 3boysful

    Over. Her.

  • Lilithcat

Is it us, or does she walk like a cartoon character?

    It’s the shoes.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I’ll give her this – she probably walks like a jackass because those shoes are the devil.

  • Dane Dame

My younger 80′s/90′s self loves creepers, no apologies. But creepers combined with a bag that screeches ‘Chanel’ seems like a disconnect to me.

  • cocohall

There has always been something tomboyish about her and I think this look feels like it is in her wheelhouse instead of her highly sexualized outfits that she has recently deployed where she just looks like she is trying with a Capital T. I’m on team creepers, but clearly consensus on them will not be reached by the BKs. But if not now, WHEN can she wear them? When you are in your teens/early twenties is your time to get away with questionable style items. Given her recent fashion past, I find all this refreshing.

    • MaggieMae

Yes, I’m with you on this one. I love the creepers for their goofiness and comfort.

  • nannypoo

She is a cartoon character. It’s a perfect outfit for a trashy fame whore.

  • allcapsERINN

I do give her props for being extraordinarily kind to her fans. Or that’s at least what I gather from what I’ve seen of her interactions with them. She’s always willing to goof around with them, sign autographs, take pictures, etc. And the outfit was doing OK . . . until I got down to the shoes. Giant cartoon character feet.

  • teensmom99

Nice of you to try but, umm, no. Were the pants made of Hefty Bag?

  • Laurie Landry

Admittedly she looks fine but those pants have yeast infection written all over them!

  • D J H

I can’t see her vagina, nipples, or tongue. 10/10 on the Miley scale.

  • psychoblonde

    Hey Miley,the 90′s called….

  • jif

Mickey or Minnie Mouse. Totally appropriate for Miley, and kinda cute. And, hey, as a bonus, I can’t see her tongue!

  • steeg of their own

It’s you. She doesn’t walk like anything but a disgrace.

  • paultoes

It looks like something Scary Spice would have been wearing fifteen years ago.

  • Fatima Siddique

I hate those shoes. Those pants make her butt completely flat.

    • valerie747

      Her butt is flat. :-)

  • valerie747

Yes. Walking with straight side arms seems military cartoon-ish.

  • Adelaidey

Is this Posh Spice’s Scary Spice costume?

  • Gatto Nero

    Oh look. She’s wearing clothes.

  • http://weirdinedgewise.blogspot.com ONEWEIRDWORD

I like the shoes, actually. And the look – it’s cute, and yeah, suits this stage of her being.

  • guest2visits

It’s a bit dopey and silly but I don’t even care – it’s still an improvement. I never really liked those shoes but they’re actually fine with the rest. It’s still a signature Miley look.

  • LambeeBaby

I didn’t recognize her without her huge tongue hanging out.

  • demidaemon

    This is dumb.

  • mightbewrong

It’s alright, I have hate in spades.
