Miley Cyrus in Jean Paul Gaultier at the 2013 Bambi Awards

Posted on November 15, 2013

Well lookee here. Look who still cleans up well.

Miley Cyrus attends the 2013 Bambi Awards 2013 in Berlin in a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier dress paired with Fendi sandals, a Chanel pearl necklace from the Spring 2014 collection and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Nicely done. Attagirl. You’ve gotta switch it up every once in a while, just to keep people talking.

Can’t stand the girl, but that’s damn near a WERQ for me.

    • calimon

Right? But I see the dress as a tad too large. She’s still got a crazed look in her eye. Wonder if that’s because it’s cramping her style, so to speak.

The hands with the fingernails, gold and pearl jewelry, and odd sleeves are giving me a touch of a Cruella DeVille vibe, which, at the least, means that it’s pushing too mature a look for her.

      • kmk05

Agreed! The makeup colours (especially the lips and the harsh eyeliner around her eyes) also age her.

    • Clueless_Jock

      She looks fantastic in Gaultier.

  • Diego!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress. It looks great on her. What I don’t like is her sight. Not only she does looks stoned, she seems to be a #TeamEdward fan. Girl, put yourself together!

    • jjtxgrrl

      She’s def. stoned.

  • Sobaika

Eye makeup is a tragedy, but she looks very nice.

    • formerlyAnon

Is that it? I couldn’t figure it out but I was instantly disappointed with her face.

    • Denis

I can’t stand her, but usually her makeup is flawless… Her face looks…odd here. Creepy and doll-like. I’d like to see this dress on Sharon Stone or someone.

      • MoHub

        Maybe Uma Thurman.

    • Violentcello

I thought the same thing at first, but is it that different from what we’ve seen her wear before? Meh, I skimmed the other MC posts here, but only barely care.

    • MoHub

The whole of the makeup is tragic.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Why you say? I like the lippy, her brows are to die and she’s well blended. The lashes are the only mistake, imo. Am I wrong for liking the lip? Her tongue is in her mouth, so maybe I’m thinking it is better than it is by default?

        • MoHub

I’m getting a painted-on doll’s face. Rather than having the makeup enhance her features, it reads like a mask.

But you’re right about the tongue being kept inside her mouth. I definitely improves the overall impression.

        • Sobaika

There’s too much blush/bronzer and heavy liner in addition to the spider lashes.

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

            Says the expert.
            Thanks S!

          • tereliz

That’s exactly what’s bothering me. Like they were trying to give her more defined cheekbones instead of her chipmunk cheeks. Looks a little too orange with the black of the dress.

      • Lanus

The lip might be a bit dark for her, but a pale-skinned brunette would work it. Therefore, she must send it to me POST HASTE.

    • Carla_Charlton

      And gross fingernails.

    • stephbellard

Nah she just has crazy eyes. Even when she looks good.

  • mlle

Gorgeous dress. Hate the way her hair colour looks with this style.

    • Aidan B

Yes! The roots and highlighting are awful. She needs to go all one color and get it over with if she’s going to keep wearing it like this.

  • Kate Andrews

Yes. But my question is: What are the Bambi awards?

    • Erica_Vuitton

A German awards show to recognise excellence in international media and television with vision and creativity who affected and inspired the German public that year both domestic and foreign.

      • Kate Andrews

That’s nice! I think they should name it after something other than a cartoon deer, though!

        • AnguaVonUberwald

From the Wiki, “First held in 1948, they are the oldest media awards in Germany. The award is named after Felix Salten’s book Bambi, A Life in the Woods and its statuettes are in the shape of the novel’s titular fawn character.” So, named after the character of Bambi, but not the cartoon version.

          • Coolekat

            Thank you

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

    Those sleeves scream power.

    • kbshee

The sleeves really make the dress.

  • marlie

    Miley looks pretty fabulous. ATTAGIRL!

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Honey, that is YOUR lipstick! The only thing I would change is the manicure. And if her lashes were a little less clumpy I wouldn’t complain.

    • mlle

This calls for a short, dark manicure I think.

  • Erica_Vuitton

YES so glad the Uncles posted this look. Perfect dress to switch up your look and shut up everyone who says you’re always naked. As the Fug Girls said the complete opposite of what you’d expect.

  • alyce1213

Isn’t that Angelina’s dress for the Maleficent opening?

    • Glam Dixie

Oh snap! Angie’s gonna be pissed!

    • DaringMiss

      I had the same thought.

Miley doesn’t have the presence to pull off this dress.

      • ampg

Yeah, it’s gorgeous, but it’s wearing her instead of the other way around.

        • mila_8

My first thought was looks like she’s playing dress up.

          • demidaemon

Does anyone else think this would look better with slightly shorter sleeves? As is, It causes her to look almost amputated.

      • mightbewrong

Exactly what I was thinking, it’s just way too much for her.

  • Kathy

She looks lovely, but I have to find something to bitch about, so I’ll just say I don’t particularly care for the Clacker necklace.

    • kimmeister

Agree, I don’t like the way it competes with the cool neckline of the dress.

  • kbshee

    WTF are the Bambi awards?

    • Malve Lyborg

Media award in Germany. The actual trophy is a nice fawn in gold.

  • formerlyAnon

    LOVE it.

But something is not-quite-as-good-as-it-could-be for me with her makeup. Or maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

What a pleasure to see her looking so good. Love that dress-it’s like a Malificent in training!

  • Jean Marie Downing

Not a huge fan of a heavy necklace with that collar. Think she should have gone for higher impact earrings and left the necklace at home.

  • sojourneryouth

I love that dress (though I think it would look better on someone older), and even like the necklace for its boldness, but I am so sick of this girl. So, so sick of this tacky, silly little girl.

  • thecitysleeps

Gorgeous. Still edgy enough with sleeves and the neckline, but total class. Love the necklace and the hair.

  • ashtangajunkie

An event named after Disney’s favourite fawn seems like an odd time to go full Morticia Adams.

  • Jangle57

The Bambi,[1] often simply called Bambi Awards and stylised as BAMBI, are presented annually by Hubert Burda Media to recognise excellence in international media and television “with vision and creativity who affected and inspired the German public that year,”[2] both domestic and foreign.

  • Glam Dixie

It’s so awesome how she does fashion on a whole ‘nother level that no one else can compete with. *snark
Although, truth be told, this is kind of cool looking.

    • boweryboy

Yeah. And the other girls don’t get it yet because they don’t know how to do it. Feh.

      • Constant Reader

Not to mention that if you put vintage with anything, it makes it punk.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

No, I’m sorry – I so strongly associate her with her ugly behavior, that I don’t see cleaned up and pretty – I just see this and wonder – so, when does the crazy start? Does the butt fall out of this dress or something? Does she pull a whole bong out from the sleeves? I’m sad for her.

    • Vickiefantastico

Gotta agree with you there. It’s too hard for me to see her as fashionable or pretty. I don’t care how much all of it costs, she still looks cheap. I’m biased, I know, but I can’t help it.

      • mlle

Same here. I guess we couldn’t sit on Miley’s fashion jury.

    • boweryboy

I couldn’t agee with you more. The skank is strong with this one (calculated or not).

She’s like a wolf in sheeps clothing. I expect the moment she got inside she whipped off the dress to reveal star pasties and a leather g-string.

  • siriuslover

I really like that dress. Very “Jetson-y”. And she looks good, too.

  • xmixiex

she really is beautiful. always. if only she’d de-trash more, like this.

  • housefulofboys

That’s a terrific dress, so…kudos. Why do her nails look like she stole fake ones out of a 4-year-old’s makeup kit from Walgreen’s?

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I LOVE this dress! Not crazy about the necklace, I think it fights with the neckline.

  • lynnlee

ooooooo! She’s wearing a Maleficent dress! She looks great.

  • kipper

This is beautiful -Come on – this just proves that A) she is totally mindfucking the whole world or B) she has a coterie of gays who are doing it for her. NO mere human can wear the slutty things she does and pull something like this off . Maybe she really does know what she is doing….

  • lynnlee

With her hair like that, she reminds me of Kim Novak in Bell, Book and Candle in that witchy dress.

  • hughman

It would be very rude to comment on balls around her face.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Well, this place is all decorum and niceties, so we shall refrain.

      • hughman

Thank you. This is a good, upstanding family blog and we do not wish to sully the surroundings with crudities.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

          Funk no, we don’t.

    • Aerialgreen

First thought was black “foreskin” dress, then came the “look at me” pearl necklace

  • carlatheviking

She looks great, but I would have changed the nailpolish to a pale gold or something. Maybe lightened the lipstick.

  • filmcricket

Hmm. The outfit is great, but I’m not liking it on her. Those sleeves look too long and the whole thing looks too old. Can we put a woman in her 30s with some actual presence in this get-up, please?

    • alyce1213

I agree. Too mature for her.

    • Miranda

      ITA

    • lunchcoma

I don’t think I agree. This seems like one of those dresses that’s right on the line between being really edgy and being too severe. I almost think it needs a very young woman to pull it off, and that one in her 30s might be aged by it.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

        Yeah – I think it’s an under 30 or over 60 dress.

      • filmcricket

Hmm, interesting point. Not sure I agree, but I do see where you’re coming from. Regardless, I think it needs to be worn by someone with some grace and FACE. Miley just looks like a kid playing dress-up.

  • slizzy

Wow, great dress. Well done. I’m not crazy about how the asymmetrical necklace is competing with that lovely neckline but otherwise, I love this look.

  • http://skreened.com/bkcentral Sarah

I can’t believe I’m typing this, but I think it would look better if it was a tad tighter. It is looking a bit snuggie-on-the-couch but I get it. And she looks SO much better that I am not mad.

    • BrooklynBomber

The sleeves are so long. If they were shorter that would help a lot, though it does look a bit big at the waist.

      • http://skreened.com/bkcentral Sarah

Yeah. I know I’m probably biased, but my first thoughts were simultaneously “oh how nice to see her looking decent” and “SLANKET.”

      • demidaemon

        Agreed!

  • MaggieMae

Now, THIS is the kind of surprise I’ll take from Miss Miley. Nicely done.

  • boweryboy

The dress is fun (but most things Gaultier are). That is all.

  • mjude

I am liking the dress. today I feel I could wear it.

  • Darva Sutra

Very “Sorcerer’s Apprentice”. Micky wore it better.

  • Laura Livingston

A robe from the “Trek” collection? Also too large as well as the godawful thing on her neck. When you said “cleans up well” TLo, I was so hoping she would looked like she’d showered.

  • kim bunchalastnames

    i covet that torc.

  • http://instagram.com/gioioio gioioio

Ditch the scrotal necklace, fix the eyelashes, darken/shorten the nails, add some high impact earrings and find shoes that fit. Do all that and I would like it.. on someone else. I love this dress but her general presence cheapens the look.

  • River

I dunno. It seems bit old for her…at least with the tarantula-eyes makeup. I’d really love to see her tackle a style that is youthful (she IS only 20) but chic. Here’s hoping…

    • random_poster

Be careful what you wish for with this one…

  • Jacob Bowen

Testicle necklace aside this is a WERQ!!!!!!

    • Mismarker

Testicle Necklace is the name of my new fake band.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

It looks just the tiniest bit big on her. She does clean up nicely, though.

  • LaSylphide

Amazing how good she looks when she calms down and shuts up.

  • MilaXX

Sleeves are a inch or 2 too long for my taste, but whatever girl.

  • gigi kennedy

not a huge fan of the necklace or the eye make up, but she looks pretty! kinda solidifies my thinking that this whole “aren’t i just so wild and crazy and rebellious and offensive and and and” is her and a PR genius raking in the $. olivia pope would be proud!

  • SRQkitten

Yes, but 99% of the talk is comments that can be summed up as “are her 15 minutes not up yet?”

    • demidaemon

Well, considering she has had star power since she was like 12, I’m pretty sure she is not a 15 minutes kind of star.

  • French_Swede

Love everything except the weird necklace. The neckline is interesting enough without that distraction.

  • Annaline39

She has Debra Messing’s crazy eyes in that third pic but I do like the dress and necklace

  • Danielle

    Still loathe that hair.

  • Jessica Wyatt

I don’t get all the fuss — Miley has about a quarter cup of the four cups of fierceness that this dress requires.

    • jw_ny

I was trying to think of how to say exactly what you just did! I won’t deny that she looks good tho…just not doing the dress the service it deserves.

      • Jessica Wyatt

True. Maybe I’m just a little fed up with her. Perhaps she’ll return to that giant stuffed animal from the VMA’s and hibernate for the winter season. To everything, turn turn.

  • BrooklynBomber

I swore I would not open one more post on Miley Cyrus. But the dress got me. It’s fabulous. She looks very bored, though, when she’s not showing her tongue or her ass.

  • In_Stitches

With the fur, pearls and the touches of red, the whole effect is a bit ‘evil christmas’.

  • tereliz

My first instinct is that it’s a little mature for her, but that’s probably just because she’s been running around in lip-slip shorts and pasties. My opinion of her would be a lot higher if she dressed more like she enjoys fashion as much as she claims instead of wearing “outfits” that look like they came from a fly girl fire sale.

  • mrspotts66

    she looks really good here!

  • Kelly

The sleeves are great fun, and it’s a chic look overall that still has a bit of an edge.

But I hate, hate, hate this trend of what look like headphone sets masquerading as necklaces. Be over, trend. Soon.

  • Mismarker

So Chanel is now making necklaces out of gold-plated bicycle locks and Ben Wa balls?

  • Lilithcat

That can’t be Miley Cyrus. No visible tats, boobs or hoo-ha. Are you sure she doesn’t have an identical twin?

  • suzq

She reminds me so much of Courtney Love, who in her day could alternate between street person and full-on glam at the drop of a hat. Wrote a song about it, too.

  • Trickytrisha

Nice dress, now give it to someone who’ll do it justice.

  • Constant Reader

I really love this on her. I don’t even mind the makeup. I feel like she’s young and pretty, so if her eye makeup is a little aging and clumpy but if makes her feel edgy, she ought to go for it. I’ll take slightly questionable eye makeup choices over very questionable butt-baring shorts choices any day.

  • Joyce VG

The dress looks ridiculous on her.

    • Imasewsure

Yes our dear uncles are being nice. It’s an awesome outfit but it’s just a costume on someone so young… this is Sharon Stone’s dress

  • MrsDanvers

I feel bad that I was expecting big cutouts on her butt when she turned around. :-(

    • http://www.janelmessenger.com/ Janel Messenger

      lol Me too. :blushing:

  • SewingSiren

Stunning. She really ought to go this direction if she wants to change her image. The swanky stuff doesn’t suit,

  • Sam Smith

She looks pretty good, but I’d say that dress is overwhelming her (a bit).

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I actually hate her more if she can pull this off and still prefers whatever you’d call that look she’s been working lately.

  • decormaven

Not fond of the change in color in lip and nails- the lip color works the best. And why no polish on the toes? I do love the drama of the dress, though.

  • Big Bear

If I had hands I would applaud.

  • Shawn EH

Nailed it. Love the giant belly button horsehoe necklace.

  • CatherineRhodes

    The Bambi Awards? Seriously?

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

      I know, right?

  • MK03

I can’t get over how great that hairstyle is on her.

    • Trickytrisha

      Sarcasm?

      • MK03

        Nope.

        • Trickytrisha

          Dang.

  • Jacquie Christen

Love it! It’s Morticia Addams meets Star Trek.

  • Mona_Visa

    Diggin’ the Dr. Seuss dress.

  • Agatha Guilluame

Could somebody unroll that licorice condom she has on and throw it in the trash? Please. Thanks. Mkay.

  • Dagney

I LOVE this dress. AND the the necklace. This whole look is stunning. Though, I must say, that dress would be fierce on Cate or Tilda.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I covet that necklace with the fire of one thousand suns. Girl looks lovely and tasteful here. Brava.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

I pretty much love everything about this look. That dress is fab.

  • CommentsByKatie

I hate that I love this. Channeling supervillain realness; I’m guessing she saw the Maleficent trailer and told her stylist, ‘Make me look like that.’ Fab.

  • Fatima Siddique

    Nope. Cult leader. Try again.

    • Annaline39

      Exidor’s daughter (Mork & Mindy character )

  • Matthew Davie

it’s a killer look. But she doesn’t seem know what do when she’s not naked.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

That dress is too old for her, but she looks very nice.

  • Laylalola

This is really giving me a Disney Villain vibe, and I know Disney-anything is the last thing she’s trying for.

  • Tamara Hogan

Not a fan of the necklace, but I think she is rocking this look.

  • http://thishotoldbroad.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

I wish she’d done her makeup differently. Then I would give it an Attagirl.

  • http://www.readbarbara.com/ ReadBarbara

I thought “nice dress” until i scrolled down to the sleeves and thought Fabulous Dress! — with Caps and and exclamation point. Makeup, though, looks like what i used to pile on in the 80s. Didn’t work for me, either.

  • Pterodactyl111

    Sith Lord Miley

  • AmeliaEve

OMG, the Evil Queen sleeves are fabulous.

  • DominoEstella

I love this look. She looks great!

  • AndreaSkates

    extremely classy. I’m shocked.

  • lulukittie

Breathtaking– something I never thought I’d say about a Miley look.

  • SusannaGA

    And no tongue. Sweet!

  • guest2visits

She looks good in it – although I would agree with a post that it appears a bit old for her. It’s a very dramatic dress that would work for several celebs I’m thinking of. She really brings out the quirkiness in this elegant design – but it’s a nice change too.

  • http://howtofaint.tumblr.com/ How to Faint

Well, well, well. Fair play to the kid. I love this look and agree with @fiddlecub:disqus that it’s damn near a WERQ. If all I had seen were the sixth and seventh photos, it’d be a solid WERQ in my book.

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

Credit where credit is due. She looks great.

  • willworktomorrow

Elegant is as elegant does. This looks great in still photos, but at some point in the evening, she will open her mouth and it’s over at that point.

  • quiltrx

That’s a great dress! The stuck-together eyelashes are distracting, but other than that this is great.
Dare I ask what the Bambi awards are?

  • MannahattaMamma

I LOVE that dress but am I the only one who thinks that the big “pearls” on the necklace are in fact sending small electric shocks through her body to control her behavior?

    • Fannie Wolston

she’s into it too, trancing off into space

  • Sylvia

She looks fabulous, and that necklace is superbly fun.

  • http://kingderella.tumblr.com/ kingderella

I don’t love those sleeves, and I think open-toe sandals were the wrong choice here, but… WOW. Looking good, gurl.

  • OffToSeeHim

Really? See, I looked at the dress and thought, “Girl, leave it to Meryl Streep for now. Plenty of time to wear that in your forties.”

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

Stunning and fabulous! Love the necklace too, which, on paper, doesn’t seem like it would work. I also like edgy Miley much better than “Hanna” Miley.

  • ItAin’tMe

She should pull a big ol’ blunt out of her sleeve and light it up.

  • Therese Bohn

The sleeve rings make me think of The Jetsons, but, aside from the huge nose ring around her neck, she looks good here.

  • KTBSN

I dunno, not thrilled with the makeup here. She looks harsh and way older than 20. Way. Could be diet, too much partying but still.

  • ThaliaMenninger

This one looks like she’s playing the Sorcerer’s Apprentice to me. Or maybe like Dopey from the Seven Dwarfs.

  • Zizi_N

So not a werq to me! Not a fan of that dress – it ages her.

  • valerie747

Her usual “LOOK at what shittery I am wearing!” is completely absent from these photos. In the moment, Miley is saying “Look at this person.” Pretty clever, I’d say.

  • Diesel von Trapp

    Bene gesserit WERQ

  • Mary Lauer

Pretty, but half the time the dress looks like it is wearing her rather than the converse.

  • Akemi

She looks a little bit like a Disney villain. (Which is fine! Great! The villains usually have better outfits.) But mostly I am just so, so happy that I’m not looking at her ass-cheeks and/or tongue. So happy.

  • PeaceBang

That is one helluva look. It’s a very aging look for her, but after her recent ridiculosities I can appreciate it. The dress is really amazing (those sleeves!!) and I love the necklace — kudos to whoever came up with such a perfect match for that distinctive neckline. The glossy unfocused doll eyes are disturbing, though.

    • Pennymac

I was thinking she looks high as shit. (I’m allowed to say that since I work in a rehab. LOL)

  • stubbornthoughts

I wish she’d stop standing with her shoulders tilted like that. But, whatever…small victories for humanity.

  • DeTrop

Did she have surgery on her tongue? It’s no where to be seen. That in itself is a plus.
Oh yeah – she does look great. I love Gaultier.

  • alliekat9090

    This is perfection. Everything.

  • St. Ace

This is what makes her trainwreck outfits so much worse, because she’s capable of looking so good and chooses to look vulgar.
