Liam Hemsworth in Alexander McQueen at the “Hunger Games” World Premiere

Posted on November 12, 2013

This particular red carpet has so far turned out to be something of an epic disappointment, so we have to give Liam some credit here for looking pretty styling, even if the look is a little on the dull side. At least he’s pulled together and wearing something that suits him.

Liam Hemsworth attends the world premiere of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” in London in an Alexander McQueen suit paired with an Alexander McQueen tie from the Fall 2013 collection. He pinned a Remembrance Day poppy to his lapel.

Look, he’s way too young for us to publicly gush over and retain our dignity, but anyone who tries to claim he’s not the cuter Hemsworth is obviously an insane, blind tool of Satan.

oh I agree, I think he’s hotter than Chris, but I think Chris is far more charming. Probably to do with age. But Liam’s now done with Wrecking Ball so he’s even hotter in my (old lady) opinion.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

How relieved is he (and his people) that he jumped off the Miley train when it did? Seconds away from total destruction.

      • sagecreek

The 100 pounds of crazy that he recently lost does become him 🙂

    • Jessica Freeman

I agree with this assessment. Chris seems to have the better personality…

    • Leah Elzinga

hot without charm will always be the lesser of the hots.

  • Danielle

That’s the smirk of a man who knows he dodged a bullet.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Yes, exactly – was just writing something similar.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

  • Diego!

At least one Hermsworth who didn’t went skinny with his body. Way to go Liam! 😀

  • giddypony

Insane blind tool of Satan here…love the ceramic poppy.

    • gabbilevy

I love those. Are they new this year?

      • NMMagpie

It was Remembrance Day when these pictures were taken; poppies are worn traditionally.

        • gabbilevy

Of that I am aware. I’ve just never seen the porcelain ones before, but I’ve been seeing them everywhere this year.

          • decormaven

Were these sold as fundraisers, or is this a custom pin? This definitely is a step up from the Buddy Poppies I had to sell as a teen for the VFW.

        • jabes

It’s on the wrong side, unfortunately — it’s supposed to be over the heart.

eta: or what Aurumgirl said several hours ago!

    • Rhonda Shore

    • Watts

Satan’s Schizophrenic Sightless Sickle reporting for duty!

    • Not applicable

make room- i’m getting on this bus too…

    • Aurumgirl

Me too. But they go on the left, by tradition.

    • tereliz

You don’t have to be an insane blind tool of Satan to agree that Liam is the “cuter” one. I mean, who wants to be ravaged by “cute”? 😉

    • fursa_saida

Jumping in the hellbound handbasket here.

  • Dat neckbeard.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Blah! But dem eyes are doing it for me. Fo sure.

      • TrixieConQueso

Have him shaved and brought to my tent.

        • Malibufire

  • schadenfreudelicious

Happy to see he is wearing his Remembrance Day poppy

  • Sorry but I think the barbed-wire tie is silly. Maybe I have no sympathy cuz blondes don’t do it for me? I like a dark haired man.

    • OrigamiRose

    • I prefer dark-haired men, too, but exceptions can always be made.

      • I will except in the case of a full-on Viking guy (and no I don’t mean Thor because he is far too babyfaced and not near craggy enough) or perhaps Bowie.

        • fursa_saida

I find the show Vikings very sexually confusing for this reason. Hot blonde people all over the place.

          • That’s what’s up 😉

    • I generally prefer dark-haired men, too, but exceptions can be made.

  • Jessica Freeman

I can’t even with the untrimmed facial and neck hairs. Gross.

    • jtabz

Yup. Always with this one, too. I’ll take the well-groomed Hemsworth any day. #turningintomymother

  • MilaXX

I agree he’s cuter. Still wish his tie was red or burgundy.

  • Guest

Was it snowing or does he need some Dandruff?

  • boweryboy

I never knew a McQueen suit could be so boring.

  • Karen Belgrad

Was it snowing or is he in need of some Selson Blue?

    • raeb23

      water droplets…it was raining

  • nannypoo

Is this the one who escaped Miley Cyrus? Lucky man.

  • DuBey2

Just a thought: would we mock an American actor if he wore a flag pin or similar in honor of Veteran’s Day? discuss amongst yourselves…

    • marlie

I don’t see anyone mocking him for wearing it.

    • alyce1213

No, of course not. Also, I don’t think anyone is mocking the remembrance poppy.

    • marlie

Aha. Gotcha. I don’t think one way or the other about someone wearing the American flag on their lapel. I might be opening a huge can of worms, but I associate it with wearing a cross around one’s neck. Just like with religion, I think people should be be able to express their patriotism (if they want to) in their own way, and it’s not for others to judge what they do and don’t do.
What I don’t like is the idea that some – especially in the political universe – have implied in the last few years that if you DON’T wear a flag pin that you’re somehow un-American. AND, I don’t believe that wearing one automatically means the opposite.

    • giddypony

Americans wear poppies to for Veterans Day. Memorial Day is the day to honor those that died in battle. Veterans Day is to honor all who have served, living or dead.

      • DuBey2

Thx. I always get the 2 mixed up and I can’t believe I never knew about the poppies. Growing up in Florida, we don’t/didn’t see a lot of poppies. Bougainvillea, yes. Palm Trees, yes. Even pansies in North Florida, but I only saw poppies in books – and I love them!

  • Malibufire

Needs a very different tie (pop of color?) and a shave. But I quibble.

  • fairi5fair

    What an odd tie.

  • Michael_Jones

Really? I have to pick one brother? I can’t have both together? (Who made up these rules?)

  • KinoEye

Wholeheartedly agreed, TLo. Definitely the cuter Hemsworth. On a related note, in the past, I wasn’t big on scruff/lots of body hair. But a scruffy man came along and changed my mind this weekend, so his neckbeard is doing all kinds of strange, lovely things to me right now.

  • ashtangajunkie

He is cuter, but I refuse to be picky about Hemsworths. I’ll take either, or both (obviously).

  • mrspotts66

    love the suit.
    disappointed by the neck beard.

  • JanieS

All I have to say is: Hail Satan. I can see how he vaguely resembles his brother but he’s just … ehhhhhh. I do like the barbed wire tie, though.

  • mrspeel2

Sorry but I’m not digging the barbed wire tie juxtaposed with the Remebrance Poppy.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

Yeah, there’s something about those two things that definitely doesn’t go together.

      • mrspeel2

He needs a stylist who has some sense of history!

    • gloriana232

Yeah, agreed. Too reminiscent of trenches to be a fashion pattern here.

      • mrspeel2

    • giddypony

      Amen sister. Flanders Field.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

Wait, which Hemsworth is Thor? That’s the Hemsworth I like the best.

    • TropiCarla

Exactly. ‘Thor’ Hemsworth FTW! (It’s Chris)
I still long for a cage match between Thor and Khal Drogo. That would be a hotness extravaganza. We’ll let Idris referee, but only if he goes shirtless.

  • Imasewsure

Not earthshattering but nicely put together and an improvement over the plain black suits from yesterday. I like the tie but some color moving forward would be nice from our manly men-stars

  • alyce1213

At the risk of being called a blind tool of Satan, I will assert that they are different types and I like them both. Chris is more chiseled and pretty, Liam warmer and cuddlier, maybe more accessible. I’m like their mother — I won’t pick. They’re both good boys.

  • jjjoy

he’s the cuter Hemsworth but his brother is better-all-around-Hemsworth.

  • abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxqyz

well the other Hemsworth can actually act, whilst this one can’t even speak properly, so that’s the difference.

  • Pretty boy. I like Thor.

  • dellagraceslife

Well fine, I’ll gladly take Chris all for myself!

  • gloriana232

Going to be that guy … a poppy is traditionally worn on the left breast (close to the heart, thought of). The ceramic is nice, but I kind of like the paper ones worn in the UK. (We wear felt ones.)

  • Kimmu

Never have I been happier to be an insane, blind tool of Satan. Chris is not only about a million times more attractive, he’s actually talented.

I’m still not sure what Liam actually does well, besides look like a serial killer.

    • Loramir

Yes! Definitely in the ranks of Satanic tools here. Chris is by far more attractive and talented, and he has an actual personality. Liam just comes across as so bland and dull, both in looks and personality – and when acting. Give me funny, charming, gorgeous Chris any day.

  • crash1212

Of course, being the more attractive of the two doesn’t mean much to me. Neither does anything for me. I do love his barbed wire tie though.

  • LeelaST

Ooooh Cool! I’m an insane, blind tool of Satan! Two things 1) Neck beard. 2) Is that dandruff on his jacket?

    • raininmai

Tool of Satan, it appears to be small raindrops on his jacket.

  • Hotter than Thor? NOPE.

(Also, you just made me IMDB their ages. Allow me to collapse on the floor in shame.)

    • TropiCarla

Girrrl, I feel ya on the age thing.

  • Trickytrisha

So did some jeweler make up hundreds of these faux poppies and hand them out at red carpet events? Regardless of poppy placement, he’s such a cutie pie. He just needs some ears and a tail and he’d be a darling puppy.

  • cakecakecake

God ZAMN! This just made my day

  • sleepycat

Vindication! Liam is just so perfect. The eyes are soft and blue, the hair is the hair color I want for myself, muscular but lean, stylish, but not dandy, more British/Australian then his brother (yes I realize Scandinavia did invade and populate Britannica), just generally romanic-looking. #lesigh #whycantilooklikehim #pleasebegay

  • formerlyAnon

Insane, blind, tools of Satan, represent!

Props to him for the poppy.
I have obviously been trained by all the fine fellas we’ve had presented for our procrastinatory critiquing lately. Haven’t looked at much today: clicked on Miss Universe (of course) and, despite the fact that Liam holds little interest for me, executed a Pavlovian click on the thumbnail of guy-in-suit. Even the insane, blind, tools of Satan are well trained!

  • stephbellard

He’s cuter but his brother is sexier.

  • Toby Wollin

Yes, he is a cute little scruffy puppy. However, he has the same trunk-like neck as his brother and has chosen the same sort of too-low collar which is not helping him here. Because of that, he’s calling attention to the fact that he needs to shave his neck (ewwww). I also feel that a suit coat which is a couple of inches longer in the torso would put the top button in a more appropriate spot and would not leave him with that big expanse of shirt and tie exposed before we get to see the waistband on his pants.

  • GQueen

Huh? How could anyone think that Liam is cuter than Chris? Super confused.

    • Poor thing.

      • GQueen

  • uprightcitizen

Must have that barbed wire tie. Probably expensive, but cheaper than a barbed wire tatt.

  • quiltrx

Others seem against it, but I don’t have words to express how much I love that barbed-wire tie!
(I’m not much on beards and I just cannot with that neck mess. And I’ll agree he’s *cuter* but Chris is *sex on a stick*.)

  • Kortney Greer

“blind tool of satan” … where do you get these gems?! It’s totally true – he’s the hotter brother by a mile.

    • veleri

      oh nO!

  • veleri

Maybe cuter but not hotter 😉

  • I’m picturing Thanksgiving at the Helmsworth house. BOTH OF THEM. Oh. My.

  • Well, count me in on that diabolical tool-shed. Though, granted, sweeter he sure is, as far as toothache goes. But where can I get that tie?
