Gorgeous! Shade and haters to the left.

    • Clueless_Jock

      So perfect on her.

  • Margaret Grace

My inner princess has decided, and I unabashedly love this – especially the combo of pink and turquoise! I think that outfits don’t always have to be crazy fashionable… it’s okay to sometimes go for really, really pretty.

edited to add – one thing I cannot get on board with, however, is the Kardashian-level contouring with her makeup!

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

    Lots of nothing.

    Barbie’s Brunette Friend Realness.

    • willworktomorrow

Is Realness the name of Barbie’s Brunette Friend? Because THAT is genius.

      • tereliz

Teresa was the name of the brunette one that was supposed to be Latina. Appropos.

        • Kristin McNamara

I was going to comment that she looks exactly like Teresa! I always begged my mom for the brunette Barbie since I have such dark hair, I never wanted the blonde ones! :)

          • NYCGlamourpuss

I’m a total white chick, but when I was little, I’d always beg my mom to get me the black Barbies, or the black friends of the main white doll (the Dawn dolls, The Rock Flowers, Hasbro’s “World of Love” dolls, etc.), because I wanted them to be loved and taken care of first before I got any of the blonde or white dolls. I knew everyone wanted the blonde dolls, and at age eight, it just didn’t seem fair to me. I remember getting the black Rock Flowers doll first for my birthday because I asked for her first. Then for Christmas a month later, I got the blonde, the redhead, and the carrying case for all three.

It just looks so cheap it’s making me cry. But that’s because Barbie took the expensive-looking gown and that’s a leftover.

      • http://skreened.com/bkcentral Sarah

When did Barbie ever have an expensive looking gown, may I ask?

        • kmk05

I concede, fair Sarah! The answer is definitely never. It seems Mattel uses the same fabric as Jessica Alba’s gown anyways.

          • http://skreened.com/bkcentral Sarah

            Hehee ;)

        • lillyvonschtupp

Plenty of times. Givency, Versace, DVF, Dolce and Gabana, Stephen Burrows, the Blondes, DKNY, and Dior are some of the designers who dressed Barbie.

          • http://skreened.com/bkcentral Sarah

I knew somebody would come at me with the designer Barbie argument. I was referring to her Mattel-wear, but point taken.

  • decormaven

Wow, that is one bright gown! But she’s carrying it off. Pity the red carpet has devolved into cheap artificial turf. And whoever shot this so we can see the backdrop roll- rookie.

  • nannypoo

I think she looks pretty. The color is a little alarming and her spray tan is too heavy, but she looks elegant and happy.

  • lunchcoma

Gorgeous color, but that fabric on a ball gown is always going to make me think of prom dresses.

  • mmebam

    I went cross-eyed for a second.

  • tereliz

Love the dress! I unabashedly love hot pink. But the yoga hair and the turquoise bring it down a little. I love the cobalt accents, and even though I’m a huge fan of turquoise, the dress feels too fancy for it.

    • marlie

The cobalt accents are *perfect,* but I agree that the turquoise is a bit of a misstep.

  • alyce1213

Color! Not everyone can wear such an intensely bright electric pink. I think she looks great. Nice accessories.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

FABULOUS color for her. I kinda dig the old school style on display here.

  • MilaXX

It’s very pretty. I like the pops of blue as an accent. Still it feels very prom/bridesmaids like.

  • cocohall

There is a game for preschoolers called Pretty Pretty Princess where players get to put on plastic earrings, necklaces and other “jewels” on their way to the big win: the crown. This is perhaps the PERFECT dress for playing the game with the under six set. For public consumption, not so much. The silhouette is fine, but the color? Jesus, Russian cosmonauts can see that from space.

    • Garcia Loca

The color makes me want to gouge my eyeballs out.

    • boweryboy

True confession: my partner owned that game when I first met him. He and his best gay guy pals would get totally trashed and play it for hours. Everyone wanted the black ring.

      • cocohall

Yes, in the right mood, with the right beverages, the game is a hoot. My son was visiting a friend who had a bossy little sister who made them play it for hours with her. Even they had fun. And, yes, the Black Ring! Very evil queen glamour!

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

        I bet they did.

  • Shannon Beamer

Desperately love this color, so I cannot be objective. Except that ring is a bridge too far (why have I been complaining about rings all morning?). I do love the earrings, however.

  • Kathy

That dress is positively neon, and I like!

  • SophieCollier

It’s totally Barbie on her. Now, put Freida Pinto in it and add some Indian jewelry, and it would sing.

  • Danielle

The color is doing her all sorts of favors. LUV IT.

  • valerie747

Any comment I make about her look is born of jealousy. Dayum.

  • KinoEye

Fabulous color for her, and not one just any lady star could pull off. Loving her eye makeup and brows. But, my dear, this is the “Baby2Baby Gala.” Whatever that might be, it’s not the prom.

  • boweryboy

Princess Barbie Playhouse. Lift her dress and underneath is a three story playhouse for you and your friends.

Accessories and Ken doll sold separately.

  • E2_Remote

I want to hate this, but she looks gorgeous!

  • PastryGoddess

If ever a dress needed a necklace it would be this one

  • Karen Belgrad

Holy crud… I just realized why I know this dress… It’s SO similar to the dress worn by Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) during the Grey’s Anatomy, Season 2 Finale, prom episode… Seriously folks, Google Izzie Stevens prom dress. Seriously. Seriously….. Seriously.

  • MaggieMae

    I love the bodice.

  • kimmeister

I covet those earrings. The slight iridescence of the hot pink fabric is a turnoff though. It reminds me of this hideous lipstick that an older lady once gifted to me, and when I opened it I could totally tell that it was used.

  • fairi5fair

    She looks beautiful.

  • anotherkate

Barbie pink is never going to be for me, but I do like the shape of it…for something CONSIDERABLY more formal. WTF is a Baby2Baby Gala?

  • Diego!

You know what? I know everybody will be against my thoughts, but this is a WERQ to me. That color looks STUNNING on her! It makes such a gorgeous effect I want to go and kiss her cheek in approval. Go Miss Jessica, climb onstage and take that crown home! :D

    • formerlyAnon

I’m not going as far as a WERQ, but I agree this works for her, despite the several strikes against it. She looks great.

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Good lord that is bright. I don’t hate it. She could afford to use less body shimmer with a gown that gaudy though.

  • http://www.what-the-frock.com Dana WhatTheFrock

I’m not usually a fan of anything pink or princessy but I weirdly LOVE THIS.

    • Imasewsure

That’s what I thought… there’s nothing about it I should like but I really kind of sort of love the dress

  • YoungSally

    TMD = too much dress

  • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

I think she looks lovely. Normally I wouldn’t care for that shade of pink, but it looks so good on her. I could never wear that, but she can rock it!

  • kmk05

Love her face and her hair. Her face especially is perfection.

    That dress is ridiculous.

  • Stella Zawistowski

Do we think she’s wearing body glitter or is her purse just shedding sparkles?

  • allcapsERINN

    AWESOME

  • Kelly

I should hate this, but I don’t. It fits well; the bodice drape is flattering and adds just enough detail; the color is fun and looks lovely on her. With such a bold color, it’s best if the dress detail and jewelry are kept to a minimum, which is just what she does here. Is it too prom-like or “Barbie”? Well, maybe, but I still think it works. I’m not sure about the earring colors (too competitive with the pink), and I wish her hair weren’t such a mess, but on the whole, I’m sold. It just looks like so much fun to wear.

  • styrch

That doesn’t even look like her. I might blame the crazy eyelashes.

  • merciblahblah

God help me, this reminds me exactly of a dress one of my Barbie’s wore when I was a kid, and I LOVE it. I love love love her jewelry so much it hurts too. Gorgeous.

    • sisterb67

Oh yes – none other than Superstar Barbie! She had a matching boa and “pierced” earrings! : )

  • sweet_potato

    Barbie’s prom dress.

  • marlie

I *LOVE* that color pink – but I think this might be a touch too much of it. Jessica looks really pretty, though. But I think she should have skipped the ring on her index finger.

  • Aidan B

With a little less tanner/sparkle, this would be fantastic. It is a great dress, but she overdid it a bit.

  • jmorino08

Pretty sure one of my Barbie’s had that exact dress back in the 80s!

  • ConnieBV

I can’t even see the dress. Just spots. I’m going to wait for my corneas to re-form.

  • amanda lynn

    lovely.

  • jw_ny

Gosh that’s a lot of pink! She looks stunning in it, but…gosh…that’s a lot of pink! @.@

  • KT

Hair and makeup are pretty bad, but I actually like this dress on her. It injects some pizazz into an otherwise pizazz-less person!

  • StillGary

Aw, I’m loving that color — I wish the dress were a little less poofy, but she’s digging it :)

  • Jacqueline Wessel

I love this old school pink gown. I wish her hair were neater, then it would go with the dress better.

  • MsC

That dress is the exact color of my Borghese lip gloss in 1987. May have to like the dress because of that. #memories

  • formerlyAnon

I don’t care that it’s not innovative or chic and it IS hot pink. She looks great. I’d call this a success.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I feel like I should hate this for being too Barbie, but she looks incredible.

  • Lilak

A lot o’ pink, but it works just right with the tone of her skin.

A cryin’ shame about the hair, though — that lazy? careless? dumb (OK, “ill-considered”)? decision made a mess of what would’ve been a smashing look.

  • Trickytrisha

LOL, I had a bet with myself that we’d see Prom or Barbie within the first 10 comments. Yep, first comment was Prom Queen, second Resort Wear Barbie. And somewhere down the line we got Barbie’s Prom Dress. It’s kinda sad that anything pink and formal seems to get tagged as “acid reducer drink” label or, like here, the doll.

Actually, I like this on her. Yeah it’s PINK and BALL GOWN, but it’s gorgeous and she looks lovely in it.

    • demidaemon

Personally, my problem with it isn’t so much the color as is the silhouette. Ballgowns are so limited in their use potential (basically, weddings and proms, IMO) that they immediately call up those references (in addition to princess and Disney ones). And, because of that connection, I immediately dislike it for being so referential. So, color is a yes to a maybe for me with the shape as a definite NO. I do like the bodice, though.

  • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Girl, that is Not Your Shade of Pink (or the bedsheet you should have thrown on after stumbling from your sickbed to the red carpet).

  • http://www.momforless.com Crystal

    I love it.

  • Glenn Johnson

The PINK!!!……It BURNS! (said while stealing my husband’s account)

  • guest2visits

Love it; she looks wonderful in the color and the style & the contrasting blues of her jewelry.

  • jjjoy

wow! i love the fuschia combined with the lapis and turquoise accessories. she’s always beautifully styled. well played with the understated makeup and relaxed updo. this dress could go Barbie at any second but she keeps it cool and modern. i wish she wore this to an awards show for full impact. a ballgown seems a tad overdone for the event.

  • macwell

Nice silhouette, but its too much color. :(

  • Nazzzy

Well, whatever else she may or may not be doing as a part of her job, she sure knows how to stand and look pretty.

  • http://weirdinedgewise.blogspot.com ONEWEIRDWORD

LOVE the dress and LOVE the colour, oooh, I love that colour so very very very much.

  • Beverly Kozma

Thought I’d hate the pink, but I love it with the blues in her jewelry. She looks really pretty.

  • quiltrx

I love this color (second only to any shade of purple in my book)–but honey, Barbie would never have gone with such underdone hair. I think the earrings are a great touch.
    And I see she’s fallen prey to the drag-queen highlighter/concealer overdose…

  • E. D.

Love everything, but the concealer looks too light for her.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

Very standard “Barbie gown”, but with her complexion, she rocks the shit outta that color.

  • Milos Mom

That color is divine on her.

  • Crystal

    well. that color is gorgeous.

  • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

It’s Barbie, but she looks great.
