Jesse Tyler Ferguson in SoHo, New York City

Posted on November 19, 2013

These two are like our celebrity couple spirit animals, because like us, there’s a pink one and a brunette. And like us, they clearly try not to fall into the trap of dressing alike.

“Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and husband Justin Mikita out and about in SoHo, New York City.

In an ironic twist, their brunette dresses like our pink one and their pink one dresses like our brunette. We reserve the right to claim that we do it better than this, though. Call us bitches if you want. We do. Every day.

And yes, boys. We see the wedding rings you’re flashing around like the Duchess of Cambridge. We have to resist the urge to do the same thing all the time. We suddenly find ourselves pointing at things with our left hands way more than we ever did before.

      Their brunette gives good face.

      • Hetha Innis

and has a gorgeous head of hair!

        • gabbilevy

Gorgeous everything, from the looks of it.

        • Morales Mike

I was thinking the same thing…it’s gorgeous!

      • Jane Donuts

He used to be my intern. He could not be more adorable. So happy for them.

    • Blair Sylvester

I think the brunette borrowed that scarf from the pink one . Or vice versa . It’s sad I know that

      • Blair Sylvester

now i don’t feel so bad that you can see the pink one wearing it at the bottom of the screen

        • NYCGlamourpuss

          Damn, you are GOOD!

    • PastryGoddess

      Disgustingly cute

    • Jessica Freeman

I so want to be the third wheel.

    • sagecreek

      Totes adorbs!

(I know, I cannot believe I just said that, either. But they are!)

      • NYCGlamourpuss

Nothing to be sorry about since it’s true!

    • MilaXX

      Awww, they’re adorable!

    • DTLAFamilies

They’re so cute I want them as plushies side-by-side on my bed pillow.

    • Anna_Cecilia

What else is there to say but…adorable!

And also I want that scarf.

    • marlie

I’m not sure about JTF’s purple pants, but otherwise, the guys look adorable, and so freaking sweet together. Also, I walk with my hand in the crook of my sweetie’s arm, AND I’m taller than him (in heels), so these pictures make me smile even more.

ETA: Come to think of it… I’m the brunette, and my sweetie is the pink one in our relationship.

      • zenobar

I had exactly the same response! The hand-in-crook walkabout is my favorite. It’s kind of old-fashioned and romantic, which I love. Also, my guy is quite a bit taller than me so someone always has to compromise their posture to hold hands for any length of time.

(I’m the pink one, and my fella is the brunette.)

        • Sarah

I, too, am pink, with a brunette fella. And while a natural blonde, I am now a dark auburn, so as to be less all-over pale, and more in keeping with my family and not looking like the milkman’s daughter. Luckily, we are only about six inches different in height, so arm-in-arm is totally possible, but I usually get the “small of the back hand.” Unless we’re getting ready to cross the street, in which case he puts that arm in front of me, as if I was a baby who couldn’t look both ways myself. (He does this to any and all people he is crossing with, btw). I used to find it patronizing, until a girlfriend said HOW ADORABLE. Now I am very pleased at the gallantry :)

          • zenobar

            Gallantry is so hot.

            • marlie

Mine makes sure he always walks on the “outside” of the sidewalk. It’s adorable.

            • alyce1213

My elegant, well-mannered father-in-law (long gone) trained my husband to do that.

            • Sarah

That it is. Only child, lost dad young to an untimely death (sadly) but Mom raised him RIGHT. Opens doors, brings flowers, says please & thank you, ma’am and sir – a True Southern Gentleman. And he cooks. Lucky, lucky me.

            • TrixieConQueso

I’m the Pink, and I had to trick my Brunette into cooking with that Totie Fields line when we walked into our first house, “Pick a room. I can’t be an expert in all of them.”

            • Sarah

Hehee. Full disclosure: Mine’s a chef for a living. So cooking is his bag, really. I actually like to cook and have to kick him OUT of the kitchen, sometimes.

        • embers618

I (the pink one) also love the crook of the arm walk, even though my guy (the brunette one) is close enough in height to me that our hands fall at roughly the same height when we walk. I just find hand-holding to be so awkward and uncomfortable for any period of time, and it makes me run into things when we walk. Also, I think the hand-in-crook displays closeness and comfort as a couple without being too twee.

Oh, and they are adorable. JTF’s smile is absolutely contagious.

      • Claudia

He looks like a Old Country Englishman…

    • International Model

This would make for good catalogue spread.

    • Anna Vasquez

Are you a Tom or a Lorenzo?

    • Carla_Charlton

They’re cute, right? And very well turned-out.

    • Vickiefantastico

Oh, flash away, flash away! I love how ADORABLE they are together!

    • alyce1213

They are quite a nice couple. Justin has THAT HAIR. Love it.

    • hughman

I love when couples mix like this : “Social Network” meets “My Fair Lady”.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

“A brunette one and a pink one” – hee! So cute! (Both you two and those two!)

    • msdamselfly

Adorable Do you think they read this?

    • NYCGlamourpuss

LOVE Jesse’s purple pants – I want a pair for myself, please!

    • zenobar

The commentary and captions on this bring me such joy. Congratulations and may you (and Jesse and his husband and everyone else who’s finally been able to marry this year) enjoy flashing those rings for a long, long time to come.

      • Nicola Anna Molly Page

        Hear hear!

      • Kirsty

What a wonderful comment, I totally agree.

      • Melvis Velour

One of the funniest things about being “officially” married – took way too many lifetimes – is how incredibly supportive people are, even here in Texas. In my culture, we traditionally wear our wedding rings on the right hand which is where mine’s been since we got hitched unofficially 23 years ago. Every once in a while I get a “…why don’t you wear in your left hand like normal people?” and a week ago when I heard this, a co-worker who’s a conservative Christian surprised the hell outta me when she snarled “..but that’s where it goes in his heathen world you insensitive boor!”
I wonder if they’re seeing snowflakes on the outer reaches of hell…

        • zenobar

Heathen World! I’m picturing a really awesome theme park…

          • Melvis Velour

..come to Heathen World! Populated by colorful, well dressed pagans who read TLo and who will diss your fanny pack to death!

      • Danielle

        Well said!

    • Tamara Hogan

    • mjude

adorable. I needed this post. I want a brunette one & a pink one for Christmas.

    • wisenhar

Must be a common thing, this brunette and pink combo. I’m brunette and my partner is pink.

Can we also count Neil Patrick Harris and his husband in that category or is NPH not pink enough?

      • formerlyAnon

I attribute it to the fact that we usually value looks that are not our own more highly than our own style of look.

    • SewingSiren

If I saw Tom and Lorenzo on the street wearing plaid and down, I would probably swoon dead away.

    • Imasewsure

It’s nice to have celebrity doppelgangers (and to also be more fabulous)!!

Jodi Foster and I have been battling it out for years (poor dear doesn’t even know it)

    • DaveUWSNYC

You boys in your wedding rings and on your wedding day will always be tons cuter to me…BK 1

    • Jumpingjacks

Poor Jesse looks like he can’t breath… with his get-up and constant smile on his face he looks like a cartoon character

      • Eric Stott

Much as I love him, I agree- there’s a lot of “Trying too hard” on display there, and nothing fits him except his Husband.

    • CeeQ

      hahahaha oh gays, so adorable.

    • melanie0866

      Too, too adorably cute.

    • Ginny Ellsworth

My beloved is the pink one and I am the yellow one. Our children are peach. And we hold hands still after over twenty years together. It is one of my most favorite things about him is that he always holds my hand.

    • SuzBald

      Cutest post ever.

    • Trickytrisha

Purple pants! OMG I love purple pants.

    • CatherineRhodes

Go ahead and flaunt those wedding rings in celebration of marriage equality. It’s about damn time!

    • Alloy Jane

So cute! Love the purple pants. Speaking of JTF, has anyone else seen the Funny or Die video he did with George Takei about the first Gay Bachelor reality tv show? Hilarious.

    • tired_mommy

Just saw a clip of “The First Gay Bachelor with Jesse Tyler Ferguson and George Takei” on Funny or Die–worth googling :)

    •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

      Too adorkable for words.

    • Tracy_Flick

This is the cutest thing on the whole internet today.

      • marlie

And a nice breath of fresh air compared to the whatthefuckery we’re seeing on the Catching Fire red carpet.

    • purpleprose78

My brother had those glasses in 1992. To think they’re fashionable now.. Hmph. Other than that, they look adorable. :)

    • formerlyAnon

And, like y’all, they are enormously endearing, in an entirely still-all-dignified-grown-ups-here, kind of way. Of course.

And based on what few shots I’ve seen of your ‘gonna get photographed’ dressing, you guys do it way better than this.

    • lalahartma

      Lol! Cute!

    • Kerry McCombs

I got married on November 9th and I agree. Anything I can do with my left hand I do it!

    • nannypoo

Congrats to them and congrats to you. They are fabulous.

    • EEKstl

Adorbs. JTF’s hubby is pretty adorbs too, while we’re at it. Definitely rocking a George Michael vibe.

    • trisker

I love it when you comment about yourselves, T Lo — so cute and funny.

      • Isabel

Show me your rings! I don’t mind.

    • MiriamMc75

100% adorable head to toe, left to right. The purple pants are the maraschino cherry on top of this fab sundae.

    • understateddiva

If the umbrella was purple rather than the pants, this would be perfect! And I had the same thought about the TLo comparison – I was like, “isn’t the wrong one wearing a plaid jacket?”

    • Lily-Rygh

That pic of them looking at each other so adoringly makes my heart swell with gay love. Seriously, my favorite celebrity couple by far!

    • sweetlilvoice

What a beautiful couple they make! And he is great on Modern Family.

    • AnniNoone

Sniff. I’m so happy about all the sudden left-handedness, for everybody who’s got it.

    • Uncle Spike

OMG the brunette. That scruff. Those eyes. Those glasses. That hair. That…entire outfit.
I would say “Zachary Quinto, you’ve got competition,” but how can it be a competition when everyone wins?
Not to disregard JTF. He looks all kinds of adorable, too. I’m just more drawn to his husband. Yum.

    • Daktari100

Wow. How does he get his hair to do that? I hate him!

    • Ass Kicking Adviser

Cute boys. I mean T and Lo. Flashing your rings. (collective awwwwww)

    • heuristicvalue

      LOL @ “a pink one.”
      Also, I love Justin’s neckbeard.
