    it’s just kinda blah.

It’s not really interesting, it’s not particularly exciting. It’s not a dress, it’s just the absence of nudity.

    • Lori

“It’s not a dress, it’s just the absence of nudity.”

I’m going to shamelessly steal this.

  • boweryboy

    Stella strikes again.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

From the “Boring and Bland” collection. At Sears.

  • Blair Sylvester

I think it is a smart move because it allows the Star (the one she is receiving ) to be the thing that gets all the focus.

    • anotherkate

Ooh, I don’t know. A true star NEVER shares the spotlight, even with her own award. 😉

  • EveEve

    Not digging the new do.

    • Vtg Fashion Library

I thought I was the only one who felt this way! People give her so much love for it, and I just hate that cut on her.

      • You’re totally not the only one!! I think hair with a little more volume/fullness suits her much better.

    • jen_vasm

I like the cut A LOT. The styling of it needs to be adjusted. I think it has the potential to look distinctive and smart when styled to balance out her strong jawline. The dress is kind of bleh in most pictures, but I think there’s a kernel of a new & interesting style direction: more edgy and less,’ I just dropped some weight & want to show off my hot bod.’
That lipstick needs to be set on fire, though.

    • lillyvonschtupp

I think the style is cute. Besides her scalp could use a break from all those weaves,

  • valerie747

Surprisingly, white is not really her color.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I think she looks great. And good for her for getting a Star. 🙂

    • Denise Alden

I just heard on NPR that one must pay to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (after being selected, of course). Going rate: $30,000.

      • Fannie Wolston

who knew? at least it’s a chamber of commerce function and not the DPW!

      • alyce1213

I’ve read that the $30,000 is a one-time fee for perpetual care, cleaning and repair of the star.

        • Mismarker

I wonder what Kim Kardashian will wear when she gets hers.

          • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I’m scared to think about it.

          • NJtoLAMary

I heard she was turned down, or her publicist was turned down. You do have to get approved by some committee. Otherwise every jerk with 30K would have a star. So yes, you sort of buy a star but it’s not open to everyone who applies.

        • MaryMitch

Yet they don’t take care of the stars… Michael Landon’s star has been broken by the roots of a nearby tree and has been for years.

      • ErikaM812

I read in an article that it’s $30,000 to apply, and that money goes toward the ceremony if the committee selects them. Basically, getting a Star is a PR thing. I was pretty sad when I found this out, just makes me think that the Walk of Fame is fake and anyone can get one. =/

      • Not applicable

yep- all a ruse. you buy your star.

        • KT

It’s a metaphor for the entire Hollywood system.

  • At this point, I’m beginning to feel like I’m picking on her. I really don’t care for the hair, and that is not a get on the ground, in November, kind of dress. I don’t know what’s happening with her, but something is amiss.

    • DTLAFamilies

It’s been in the upper 80s in LA this week, so even though it’s November, the dress is weather appropriate. I’m wearing a sundress as I type this.

      • Well, I’m glad she’s warm enough. I still don’t think short and white is what I’d pick for kneeling on the ground.

        • DTLAFamilies

Okay, who downvoted your original comment???? Not me. I don’t downvote on general principal.

P.S. agree that the mechanics of short and white don’t work for this occasion.

          • Mismarker

I don’t hate many things but I *hate* the ability to anonymously down vote opinions with the mere flick of a finger. If you don’t agree with someone, nut up and formulate a response and hit the reply button that is located just millimeters away from the down vote button.

          • Sometimes a downvote is just a clumsy finger on a touchscreen. Not that I’ve ever done that. *cough*

(Fine, I’ve totally done that. My fingers are basically clumsy sausages attached to drunk hams, blundering their way into taps when they just wanted to swipe.)

          • Mismarker

True, we’ve all done that. You can undo a down vote by tapping the down vote button again.

          • You can’t even tell who downvoted a comment without also downvoting it yourself. Boooooo! This is no way to encourage nosiness, Disqus.

  • Crystal

i think she looks pretty, but the makeup is a little off.

  • Glam Dixie

He legs look fantastic, that dress is horribly unflattering, her makeup is odd and that haircut was a bold but poor choice for her face shape.

  • Shannon Beamer

She looks like a wax figure of herself.

    • Carleenml

Yes, she’s spraying on that icky waxy make up and it’s so horrible. just wishing we could see her look more natural. such a pretty girl.

    • anneland

I think because she had a sh*t ton of botox on on top of her face so her smile looks so weird.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

She looks..ok. But I don’t understand the idea of wearing a short dress for this event. You have to knee/sit/straddle your star – it just seem ridiculous to wear something so short. That said – I kind of like this dress on her – it fits. It’s not skin tight and it’s so much more flattering! The hair is gonna take some getting used to. But the biggest issue with JHud – and it’s always true – that girl wears a metric TON of makeup.. you could take a putty knife through it. How in the world is it not wearing off somewhere on the collar of that dress???

    • SugarSnap108

Gah, the makeup! Her face looks like it’s made of plastic in these shots. I think I could dig the short hair more if her face looked like an actual human face.

  • Nancer

I think she looks adorable! So glad that she didn’t go with a bandage dress, I think her legs look slamming. Her makeup needs some slight adjustment; perhaps a different lip?

  • Janet B

I want to love her hair, but I don’t.
Her choice of lipstick isn’t good.
I wish she wore a dress with a bit more fabric for kneeling.

  • kimmeister

If Charlize Theron didn’t even look that great wearing this dress, mere mortals shouldn’t even attempt it. Not that she look horrible, but it comes off a little bath towel-y on her.

What’s really bugging me is that the back of the shoes and the front of the shoes are clashing whites. Aaaah!

    • filmcricket

      My exact thoughts, right here.

  • sagecreek

I am completely distracted by the Hideousness of the shoes.

  • She looks OK (hate the shoes) but the seams on the back of the hose of the woman in the background are REALLY catching my eye. I’ve always had a weakness for seamed stockings and it’s great to see someone wearing them at a media event! Yay!

  • Gianvito Rossi should have waited at least a year before copying those ridiculous shoes.

  • jw_ny

that lipstick! that makeup! that botox!

  • JasmineAM

She really needs to fire her makeup gay. Every face of hers I’ve seen lately has been awful. And THIS is the dress you choose when you’re being honored? It looks like a hospital gown.

  • Danielle

Really not a fan of that hair.

  • SewingSiren

    Love the hair .

  • AmeliaEve

I would love to see how she got herself up and down from kneeling and sitting on the red carpet. Did somebody have to hold up a blanket around her so she didn’t flash everyone with that short dress? At least with that neckline there is not an extra cleavage problem when she leans forward.

  • mmebam

Who is her make up artist? Fire that person and try again.

  • Miss WKS

Jennifer looks hella better than that guy modeling the dress…

  • frannyprof

  • BellaLuv

Charlize Theron wore this dress earlier and she looks so much better that it’s hard not to compare and think this look falls far short.

    • MilaXX

Kristen Wiig wore is as well. Whoever designed it has a heck of PR person getting this on so many lady stars.

    • I think it looks FANTASTIC. But that’s maybe because it is a complete turnaround from the best-forgotten Balmain we saw the other day?

  • ashtangajunkie

I strongly dislike her haircut. The dress might have been okay, but the makeup, hair, and shoes are all wrong.

  • Imasewsure

I can’t decide if I like this or not but I appreciate that she wore a white pump that wasn’t a white pump. Do not like that lipstick on her at all. Love the hair.

    • Anplica Fiore

The lipstick is totally a NO here. And her makeup in general is really making me think she & Brandy are related somehow…

  • Fannie Wolston

I shouted WERQ but what do i know!

  • alyce1213

If there were ever the Wrongest Dress to Wear to a Hollywood Walk of Fame installation, this is it.
Everything — the whiteness, the thickening fabric, the length, the extremely open armholes (w/mesh inserts), the narrow skirt. And stripper shoes. These people know their gonna get on their knees to touch the star, what is wrong with them?

I’m not used to her hair yet, but I like that it’s an improvement over some of the styles in her past.
I hate the lipstick, like her eye makeup.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

The dress looks big on her, and the pixie cut makes her head look small. Her proportions are all out of whack in this look.

  • MilaXX

That’s a pretty popular dress. Still Jen looks pretty good in that but I am not a fan of the lip color. It looks dead on white gals and ashy on black gals. Can someone please destroy the remaining tubes?

    • decormaven

My initial reaction as well as to the lip color. With that short haircut, it’s more important than ever to choose a pleasing shade.

  • KinoEye

I love her hair, and white is great for her. But she’s getting a star on the walk of fame and she can really work those straight-up diva looks. I feel like that’s what the occasion called for, instead of a kind of plain white dress. Meh.

  • Little_Olive

    That is NOT your hair.
    That is not your dress.
    Those are not your lips.

    • Miranda

      ALL OF THIS.

  • Mismarker

Pete Campbell hair. What is the criteria for getting a Star? I think Julianne Moore just got one and she’s been in the biz for 20 years or so.

    • Criteria or cost? Pretty sure I could Kickstart myself a star.

      • Mismarker

        Make it so.

      • NinjaCate

Was just gonna say, don’t you have to basically buy yourself one?

    • tintashoopa

There must be some criteria because Kim Kardashian keeps getting rejected!
Jennifer Hudson has won an Oscar, why isn’t this star for movies?

      • alyce1213

Her singing career is bigger, longer and more prolific than her acting career. Not everyone who’s won an Oscar has a star on the walk.

        • Mismarker

So Bethenny’s still got a chance. Fingers crossed!

  • ThaliaMenninger

I am really not digging her new hair. And that lying to the side pose is so not helping.

  • CarrieBaby

Good for her! Is she getting honored for music or movies?

  • cakecakecake

Oh dear…that neckline is not her friend

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Although the dress is weirdly cut, I think the white works here because it really makes her stand out in the crowd. I like her short hair, but more edgy styling would help give her more star quality.

  • Kelly

Didn’t we recently see this dress on someone else? IIRC, I didn’t much like it on them, either, whoever they were.

  • DuBey2

Hated the dress on model. Its meh on Jennifer. I’m conflicted about her haircut: From the front, it frames her eyes beautifully, but I do not like it for her in any other angle or profile.

Lastly, say what you will about “paying for the star…maintenance…”, she IS a star with a a great voice. And she doesn’t shame her gender at every opportunity.

  • Trickytrisha

Stella, Stella, Stella… go away. Jennifer, on the other hand, you are wonderful and deserve a better dress, makeup that doesn’t make your face look like a chocolate gumby, and FFS… better shoes. Those shoes are atrocious.

  • Lily-Rygh

Oh, that lipstick color is baaaaad.

  • lillyvonschtupp

I love JHud, but its too soon to take to the knife.

  • lilyvonschtupp

What the hell are those shoes the model is wearing? Jenny’s ain’t much better. The look like they’re about to slip off.

  • KT

Seems really weird that she’s getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame already, considering that she’s really only done Dreamgirls, and then a couple of voices for animated movies and supporting roles here and there. Not that the walk of fame is some incredibly important thing (Terry Bradshaw has a star too…) but still seems weird. The dress is fittingly weird. Took me a while to get to that one, but I did.

    • alyce1213

She got it for singing, not acting. There’s a record on the star.

  • DebbieLovesShoes

That lipstick color makes me sad.

  • demidaemon

This should be working like gangbusters here, but it seriously looks like a drag impersonator’s version of JHud. This makes it a big ol’ no as is. It’s something about the combination of hair, make-up, and facial expressions that creates a fake image here.

  • Ma. Gabriella Dutari

Jennifer looks cute! Bute that shade of lipstick is sad.
