Chris Hemsworth in New York City

Posted on November 08, 2013

Another helping of boy for you. Remember to chew before swallowing.

Chris Hemsworth is seen heading to the morning shows in New York City where he is promoting his new movie “Thor: The Dark World.”

He’s really slimmed down. It’s a good look for him. Probably smart, too. Musclebound types get stuck in an acting ghetto their whole career, more often than not.

He kind of looks like a young Gary Oldman.

    • Or Guy Pearce.

      • Imasewsure

That would probably be a huge compliment to a young Aussie actor

        • I don’t know – maybe the Neighbours/Home & Away blood feud cuts too deep?

    • Lite Matt Smith

      • gabbilevy

I have exactly zero problem with more boystars going Matt Smith.

        • WendyD

Just as long as they keep their hair!

      • NYCGlamourpuss

I immediately thought this was Matt Smith until I saw the name.

      • Violentcello

Yep. Totally. I was going to ask if we were sure this was Chris Hemsworth and not a well-dressed body double hiding behind those shades.

    • cbt22

I’m seeing Alexander Skarsgard. But I see Alexander Skarsgard in my dreams and everywhere else, so maybe that’s just me.

      • tereliz

Close, but the Meekus hair REALLY isn’t doing it for me. Also…

  • Diego!

    I miss muscled Chris 🙁

    • LuisaNL

i do, too. gasped a little when I saw these pics and not in a good way.

      • TrixieConQueso

Me 3. The Skinny Boys do not make my naughty parts tingle.

        • Imasewsure

Yes but their wardrobe does! Skinny guy clothes are far more fabulous so we should appreciate him for that anyway. We do need a quick dose of “Jackman with puppy”

        • Kristin McNamara

I feel like somewhere between this and his most muscley would be the perfect balance. As he strands now, attractive though he still is, he almost just blends in as another good-looking, skinny twink of Hollywood.

        • Sofia

          amen, sister

      • Diego!

I hope his skinny days may be over soon 😀

    • Amy Wilson

Truest words spoken today. I am going to have google pictures of shirtless muscled Hemsworth so remind myself of why he is on my list.

      • SRQkitten

I read somewhere that he was losing weight for a role on a serious diet so we can hope this is very temporary.

    • Morales Mike

Totally. Let all the other skinny boys wear Hedi Slimane. Put him in some tight Versace and let’r rip. LOL!

  • geans

He’s getting his Matt Smith on.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

I’ll have to trust you that it’s him. He is way slimmed down, which is fine. But I need to see his eyes!

  • webslice33

he is making a movie about a stranded sailor i think, hence the weight loss…

    • Yep, he’s on a starvation diet, 500-600 cal/day. 🙁

      • Yes, just saw him talking about it on Kimmel (?).

      • fursa_saida

Oh, god, that is a terrible way to live. (I speak from experience.)

  • Kimmu

I am trying not to hold how awful the Dark World was against Chris, because he did the best with the shit sandwich he was given, unlike like some people named Natalie Portman, and I still adore the man unquestionably.

But man, I’m sad this morning.

    • Tatiana Luján

The first Thor movie was way better for his character. I enjoyed both movies, though.

      • Kimmu

I truly hated the ending, which completely negated all of the character development that had happened in the movie between Thor and Loki.

        • Tatiana Luján

I don’t think the ending (we are talking about the 2013 movie, right?) negates the character development between Loki and Thor. For me, it was a nice twist.

          • Kimmu

Yeah, I am talking about the Dark World. I feel like they made some real progress with getting each of them to finally understand the other one better – Thor for still being able to love Loki while acknowledging that Loki can be a fairly terrible person who betrayed him and Loki finally grasping that Thor legitimately loves him for him, but that ending just sets them up to go right back to being at odds with each other and Thor once again having his trust broken. As a huge fan of the comics, I’m used to Thor characterization that is essentially “I will forgive you every horrific transgression you commit against me because I love you for reasons no one else understands” in regards to Loki, but I’d really like to not see the MCU go there because Thor and Loki are so broken in the comics. Keep my MCU optimistic dammit

          • Tatiana Luján

I’m scared to spoil the movie for those who haven’t seen it yet. For me, it’s clear you can never trust Loki, even if you’re loved by him.

          • Lily

Hey remember Crown of Fools #1, where Thor’s heart’s desire turns out to be Loki? Yeah. I cried for like 3 days.

          • Kimmu

Yeah I kinda had to go lay down to collect myself at that. It was like thanks Marvel, thank you for hurting me. Again. Falling in love with these two characters is simultaneously the best and worst thing that has ever happened to me.

    • fursa_saida

Oh, man, I LOVED the movie. But different strokes, etc.

  • Glam Dixie

That’s hard to get used to, doesn’t even look like him. Still cute but…wow.

  • msdamselfly

Not seeing what the attraction is with him, although I’ve never seen him on film.

    • He does a little twinkle in his eye that makes even my determined-brunette-attraction take a backseat.

    • tereliz

If you saw the Star Trek reboot—and are in possession of a soul, lol!—you probably bawled when he died in the first ten minutes of the movie, playing the part of George Kirk.

  • Saturnine

    Wait . .. that’s Thor?

    • Luneowl

The god of…well, maybe static electricity.

  • crash1212

Nothing. He does nothing for me…muscled up or slimmed down. Nada. I do like that jacket though.

  • Clueless_Jock

The white v-neck undershirt + blazer + skinny jeans look is so popular in NYC.

  • HobbitGirl

He looks great, but I kinda miss those mega-biceps…

  • hughman

“Hi, my name’s Chris. I’m not your waiter, I’m your Gastronomic Tour Guide, ok? Tonight we have kale sliders which come with house made romulade from our hand-crafted balsamic beer. After you’ve checked into Four Square, just tweet me your order, ok?”

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Hugh – missing you earlier today! Have you made it to Miss Universe???

    • mmebam

You can see our feature cocktails on Instagram.

  • ashtangajunkie

Adorable. Not digging the sunnies on him, but he looks good slimmed down like this. I’ll always prefer his muscly, but I enjoy the Hemsworth either way.

  • jilly_d

    Me no like. Want muscles.

  • Jaeda Laurez

Nope. I need the muscles to balance out the head.

    • Madam Von Sassypants

The angle of these photos is likely to blame for that.

      • tereliz

  • Luneowl

I think Hugh Jackman said that lean and wiry is his default body type, too.

    • marlie

ANY Hugh Jackman body type would work for me.

  • marlie

Chris looks really good here. I’m surprised to see him so slimmed down, but the pseudo-hipster, skinny jeans look really works for him.

    • StellaZafella

From BroHunk to Boy Band Soprano…that’s range!

    • fursa_saida

I’m not sure why, but the fact that you got a downvote for this really cracks me up. “HOW DARE YOU NOT CRAVE MUSCLESWORTH AT ALL TIMES.”

      • marlie

Hah, I hadn’t even noticed it. It’s weird the (non-controversial) things that people get downvoted for. “NO, you’re not allowed to think he looks good!!”

  • Y’all, I’m getting worried. My lady parts may be on the fritz. I see the Hemsworth, I feel nothing. The pirate fellow from earlier, nothing. IDRIS on Wednesday, nothing. The Hiddleston, nothing. What is wrong with me???? Why is my boy crazy broken? I am bereft.

    • marlie

Sweetie, we just need to figure out what boystars DO get your motor running. Don’t worry – it’s not broken!

      • Maybe my kind of boystars only get Summer Blockbuster coverage??? Where are the Charming Potatoes, The Rock Johnsons, Charlie “Jax” Hunamnns, Shirtless Tyson Beckfords in Novemeber? No where, I tell ya. Le sigh.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

It’s not just you. It’s gotten cold in these here parts. It’s gonna take a Joe Manganiello double shot or something….

      • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

        Singing my song.

    • TwiddlyStun

Sounds like this Fritz fellow may be wearing you out 😉

    • JDreesen

it’s all those feathers from the Miss Universe posts. they tend to clog your boy crazy’s running motor.

chin up, though. a couple of good Sausage Fridays from now, you won’t even remember this little bump in the road.

    • Danielle

My skirt has not been blown up in a few weeks. We need to see therapy in the form of Tom Hardy. Full frontal, preferably.

      • WAIT! It may be okay. Buzzfeed has the Hammdong, complete with singing angels, featured today. I must confess, those photos made me feel the tingle in my special place. My skirt, it was blown up.

    • Madam Von Sassypants

What, creepy gaunt Jake Gyllenhaal didn’t do it for you the other week?

    • formerlyAnon

Oh dear. I love the skinny boys (plus notable exceptions including Idris) and have been purring happily. I do not want to think of you, bereft and palely loitering.

      Maybe a nap?

      • fursa_saida

        Liked for the Keats reference.

  • DTLAFamilies

    Remember to chew before swallowing.

    • tereliz

Chew what? He’s like a piece of spaghetti. You could just slurp him up!

  • carrie

    Haha, the acting ghetto 🙂

  • mayah1806

he’s slimming for a movie, something about a ship-wreck. I miss his muscles!

  • WendyD

I think he looks lovely “slim” or Thor. Hugh Jackman is a fine example. Those Aussies can pull off either body type.
Chris was slimmer in “Rush” (and more naked) and I enjoyed him just fine! A lot of the slim in these photos I’m attributing to the angle of the camera. And again, if you put him next to Tom Hiddleston, he doesn’t look that skinny!

All is not lost, as the end of the film says: “Thor will return.”

  • Imasewsure

Wow unrecognizable.. not my style but he looks good

  • Tatiana Luján

He looks great, in a Julian Casablancas sort of way.

  • Danielle

I was wondering when Sausage Friday was going to start. He sure fills out a v-neck nicely.

  • NOLA_gal

Like him MUCH better as skinny hipster than muscle-bound god of thunder (not that I object to that iteration, mind you).

  • MilaXX

He’s losing weight for his new role and on one of those crazy lose weight diets where he is eating far too few calories and talking about it on chats shows.

    • It sort of shits me that boy stars get to talk about it but girl stars generally have to just grin and do it. Anyway, that’s a can of worms outside the purview of this site, I think.

      • MilaXX

Yep like saying she looks good because she’s slimmer. All I see is same shit show, different size.

      • In_Stitches

Anne Hathaway talked about it when she did Catwoman. It made me like her, and kept me from jumping on the hate train.

        • fursa_saida

I loved it when first ScarJo, then Anne Hathaway, took down the same interviewer for obsessing about their catsuits. I about died, it was beautiful. (Two different times/instances, but it was the same guy and knowing about both made each more glorious. I like to think the Action Ladies of Hollywood have gotten together to ostracize this dude.)

  • Jacqueline Wessel

I read that he was on a 500-600 calories a day diet for some lost-at-sea movie he’s making. I agree, this look suits him and so did the other one.

    • tereliz

He does have that gaunt, hungry look like he’s dropped a lot of weight really fast. Even if you’re NOT obsessively clicking on photos of him every week like I.. er… I mean some people, you can tell. He must be subsisting solely on Vegemite. (or possibly Marmite.)

  • KinoEye

Good goddamn. When he’s all muscled up to play Thor, he does nothing for me. But in these pictures I’ve seen of him lately where he’s less “enhanced,” so to speak, he floats my boat like no one’s business.

  • NoveltyRocker

Maybe if that were a blazer and not a suit jacket. Whoa, I hadn’t ever thought about it but I guess you do have more moves as a slim actor who can beef up than as a permanently beefed up actor.

  • TropiCarla

HISS. BOO. Who be this gaunt imposter? Wherefore art thou, sweet Thor, god of muscles?

  • María Foulquié

where is the other half Thor? can I have it?

  • Fordzo

It’s Sausage Friday, and I am hungry, but not *that* hungry.

God Bless Those Who Like Boys In Skinny Jeans.

  • korilian

Wut? You can lose all that muscle just like that?

    • lunchcoma

      He’s apparently on a 500-600 calorie a day diet for a role.

I like him a little less Thor-ish, but sometimes I wonder what these guys are doing to their bodies with the sudden weight loss and gain.

      • I’ve had the same thought. It worries me (says the mom).

      • snarkykitten

        jesus christ that sounds horrible

I know, I know. Body policing is terrible, he’s a complete stranger, yeah yeah. But yikes D:

    • formerlyAnon

Even if you eat, you start losing muscle as soon as you stop doing whatever you do to use it. (Daily life or purposeful exercise.) If neither working out nor eating enough, it goes scary fast.

  • Lucas

    wow! he looks amazing.

  • jspark

How do I get an invite to the Hemsworth family… whatever

  • the_valkyrie

    The better Hemsworth.

  • formerlyAnon

Falls squarely within the boundaries of my “Oh my, he’s hot” category once again. For what that’s worth.

  • boweryboy

I like his look from the knees down. Weird, I know but this guy is boring.

    • tereliz

WHAT??!! But this is the man who wore not one but TWO velvet jackets during the THOR 2: THANK ODIN IT’S THORSDAY pole dance. Okay, I accept that this current look is a bit boring, but maybe with the weight fluctuations and the dieting he doesn’t have the energy to shop properly. 😉 Those are some killer shoes, though.

  • This one does not do it for me, despite the skinny jeans. You younger PUF’s can have him.

  • Nazzzy

I’ll take me some of that.

  • JauntyJohn

Jesus. What, is there a rheostat at the base of his spine, and he just dials up the bulk or something? Jiminy Cricket!

  • terpsichory

Phew, I thought I had confused the brothers again. Apparently I can finally tell them apart, but that really made me pause.

  • indigospade

He looks waaaaay too skinny. Not a fan of this look at all. His neck is way too wide to be supported by skinny shoulders. Too bad. Hopefully he’ll bulk up again in the future.

  • katiessh

nooo, he’s way too skinny right now. have you heard him talk about how he’s had to lose weight for the role? its sounds terrible

  • Jacob Bowen

He is going all Matthew Mcconaughey “Dallas Buyers Club” on us! No!!!!! Your brother Liam does slimmer BETTER so you MUST go back to hunky!

  • somebody blonde

He looks good, but I definitely prefer him bulked up. Who knew he could pull off hipster, though?

  • quiltrx

He looks pretty good in that last pic. The others looked alarmingly skinny, but I think it may just be a weird angle.
I think I’d really love him somewhere between this and ‘meaty Thor’ mode.

  • frumpybiscuits

He looks wee. Is this a weird angle?? His head is big and then his body and legs are long and t i n y.

    Where is ma beefcake??
