Chloe Bennet in Bless’ed Are The Meek at the 2013 TeenNick HALO Awards

Posted on November 20, 2013

We give her credit for wearing something with some interest and edge to it. Do we like it?

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” star Chloe Bennet attends the 2013 TeenNick HALO Awards at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California in a Bless’ed Are The Meek dress paired with an Oroton clutch, Gabriela Artigas jewelry and Pelle Moda shoes.

Bless’ed Are The Meek Contrast Dress

Yeah, we think we do. We think a much simpler shoe was called for here, but the longer we look at the dress, the more it appeals to us. Admittedly, it’s forcing the eye to go all over the place. Possibly a toning down of those hip details would make this slightly less busy, but we really like the neckline and shoulders. Hair and makeup: pretty; bag: acceptable-to-good.

In related news, we know we promised a writeup on her show, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but we doubt we could tease 200 words out of it. It full-on sucks, we’re sorry to say. We gave it enough time and space to figure itself out, but it’s bland, directionless, and cheap-looking. It lacks the imagination to really indulge in the world at its fingertips and its saddled with a cast so bland it might as well be a bad CSI spinoff. Biggest disappointment of the season. The only thing it can do now to turn this show around is to write in some catastrophic event that wipes out half the cast and gives the other half a reason to exist. We’re not remotely joking about that. To save this show, they’re going to literally have to blow it up. They can keep Chloe and Clark Gregg. Maybe Ming-Na Wen. The rest? Disposable.

I always love your summaries of shows I am not watching.

    • iheartbuffy

I refused to even give it a chance because I don’t want my opinion of Joss lowered/have to abandon my status as a Whedonversefangurl

    • siriuslover

I didn’t even know this WAS a show! I was like, movie? graphic novel? ohhhh, it’s a TV show!

  • kimmeister

Whose dumb idea was it to photograph the model in front of a white backdrop? Her shoulders just look like they’re missing.

    • iheartbuffy

which is an improvement for the dress

  • Danielle

I can’t with her character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Irrational hate list.

    • Vickiefantastico

I COMPLETELY agree. The whole show is craptastic, but she is the worst of the bunch. Her acting is atrocious. I hate to be mean, but she brought down the whole show for me.

      • Danielle

I keep watching out of love for Clark Gregg, but she is insufferable.

        • Vickiefantastico

As much as I love him, I couldn’t even get through the second episode.

          • Cordelia_Gray

I love Clark Gregg. I have tried to watch every episode. I have fallen asleep every single time.

    • MilaXX

      completely rational. She is awful!

  • gabbilevy

Hate the hair and the shoes, dig the dress. Disagree that Chloe is one of the stronger parts (in an admittedly weak field) in S.H.I.E.L.D. Find her character to be both bland and unconvincing. Agree that the show has failed to find its footing, but I don’t think it’s as bad as you guys do. But mostly, I’m sad for the show it could have been, if ABC wasn’t trying to split the difference between die-hard comics/superhero fans and “family friendly” (it airs at 8pm) entertainment.

  • hughman

    Grocery list :
I write it on my arm so I don’t forget.

    • 3boysful

Exactly what it looks like! Can you hear me laughing?

    • zenobar

Ohhh – I thought it was “feta clam investment” which really made no sense at all. Thanks for clarifying.

    • Jennifer McGuire

LOL! “Fata viam invenient” – “the fates will find a way” -from Virgil’s Aeneid

    • alyce1213

      You’re killing me.

    • twocee

Thank you. I needed that laugh so much.

  • Clueless_Jock

I like the side view but the dress isn’t so flattering from the front.

  • Jessica Freeman

I like the dress, it’s the hair and shoes that need a complete do-over.

  • BuffaloBarbara

Actually, Chloe’s the last one I’d keep — I think if they dumped Skye, a lot of problems would be fixed. But they have this huge universe to play in, and I wish they’d just… play.

    • misstressofsylar

Ward first then Chloe. I hate hate hate him, down to his uber cliche outfit of white shirt, leather jacket and aviators. I love Coulson of course. Even Fitz and Simmons are starting to grow on me.

      • Cordelia_Gray

I really like Fitz and Simmons.

        • Cz

Your opinion matters to me because your handle is Cordelia.

  • I think Chloe is a major part of what’s wrong with the show. The vast explosion needs to kill them all except Clark Gregg and Ming-Na Wen.

    • BuffaloBarbara

I like Fitz-Simmons as side characters. It’s just Skye and whatshisname the boring dude — soldier boy? — that I can’t stand. Unfortunately, they seem determined to focus on them.

      • MilaXX

The block of wood known as Agent Grant

      • Fitz-Simmons are okay. They are less interesting versions of a standard Whedon science geek character. They are fun when they talk over each other like separated twins, less fun when they get any character development at all. The writers have no clue about character development. It’s shameful that Whedon’s name is attached to this.

      • kmk05

I really dislike Fitz-Simmons: this is NOT how science works, and I hate Hollywood’s obsession with portraying us scientists that way. They basically lifted their 1D character traits from those excuses of scientists in Pacific Rim! GAH.

Skye, unfortunately, gets on my last nerve, and her ‘romantic’ interactions with Grant are painful to watch.

      • lunchcoma

Yeah, my way of fixing the show would involve getting rid of those two and bringing in some characters with actual personalities.

  • 3boysful

If it’s chill enough to wear booties, then your toes should be covered, too. These booties are particularly awful. But I love the dress.

  • quiltrx

I really like the dress. I’m a little iffy on the shoulders (they look a little like tacked-on shoulder pads) but I love the black accents.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

I like it. It’s cute and it fits her well. The shoes, hair and makeup are fine, and the pop of color from the clutch is very nice. Good!

  • MilaXX

Her outfit is fine, but I hate the hair & shoes.
On the show she is the worse thing about it. I’d kill her off first. I’d keep Ming-Na & Coulson and maaaaybe keep the wacky scientist.

    • mmebam

As a wacky scientist, myself, they are where my heart is. 🙂

  • boweryboy

I dunno. It’s too busy and the porportions seem off. She looks like a linebacker with crazy huge hips, and the shoes are too heavy and all wrong for this look.

    • decormaven

Yes, it’s got sorta of an athletic jersey feel to it at the top, and the detailing around the hip area bugs. Shoes definitely a wrong call.

  • I like the bracelet. I would change every other thing and start from scratch. Much like I would start SHIELD from scratch.

  • Aldona Dye

I’m sorry, but what’s the point of having an apostrophe in your brand name if no letters are actually being taken out?

Also, bleh shoulder treatment, but the rest of the dress is graphic and cool.

    • kimmeister

I guess they wanted to make sure you pronounce it as two syllables rather than “blest”?

      • But you do that by having an accent over the e. It’s worked for hymn writers for years.

        • kimmeister

Yes, that would be the proper way, but they are evidently aiming for “diff’e’rent.”

    • marlie

I spent an unreasonable amount of time saying the name of the brand out loud trying to figure out whether or not the apostrophe made any difference. It didn’t.

      • demidaemon

I just thought it was one of those egotistical stupid things egotistical people do. Also see: douche.

  • iheartbuffy

i think the dress needs a belt… also those mesh epaulettes were a terrible idea. The dress would look much much better if it was just a halter

  • Imasewsure

I never like that shoulder treatment but the dress itself is cute. Shoes are dull, hair isn’t helping, but I like the little clutch…

  • Zuber

I wholeheartedly agree with TLo’s analysis of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s just plain stupid and childish, too gimmicky and trying-to-be-cool-and-tough.

  • twocee

Couldn’t get past episode 3 of SHIELD. Boring, boring, boring. Not the world you should ever associate with a comic book/super hero show.

As to the dress, I like it alot. More than I should, I think.

  • Kent Roby

I’ve never heard of this “star”, the show, or this event; God I feel ancient! The dress and bag and cute enough, but the shoes and the last bag: not so much.

  • Shawn EH

I’m enjoying her show, but I’m a long-time Marvel nerd. It’s a painless way to pass the time, I know, hardly a ringing endorsement. However, I think she just might be a red carpet success story, this is pretty good for such a new ingenue, really cute.

  • marlie

This is a great look! I love the dress, and I don’t even mind the clunky shoes. And the bright clutch is perfect.

Also, I agree that Agents of SHIELD is bad. I want to love it – I love the Marvel Universe, and I love Clark Gregg/Agent Coulson, but it’s just so freaking dull. You just KNOW it’s bad when 6 weeks into the season, you *still* don’t know the main characters’ names.

  • sagecreek

Very cute dress. It would be cuter in June, though.

Totally agree on AoS. It’s really disappointingly bad.

  • Sarah Thomas

Really? I think Chloe’s the weak link, bar none. They should keep Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, and maybe one of the fitzthingys.

  • Nancer

So with you on the SHIELD show! I am a huge Whedon fan, and I just don’t know what went wrong. It seems as if he didn’t bring any of his personality and wit to the show, it’s just bland and dull and I am so sad about that.

  • Adriana

But Fitz-Simmons are cute! I dunno, I feel like the show is getting better each week…still not as great as I want it to be, but then I remind myself that I didn’t really start to get into Buffy until season 2, and that series didn’t even peak until seasons 4-5…

  • Heather H

Totally agree about Shield. Bland, boring, and forgettable … kinda like Chloe’s outfit.

Sleepy Hollow, though, is freakin’ great in a totally balls-to-the-wall, bat-shit crazy way. If someone had told me this last summer that my favorite new show would be the one about Ichabod Crane time-travelling and not the one with Agent Caulson, I would have laughed my ass off.

    • marlie

About Sleepy Hollow – Yes, a thousand times.

  • Tracy_Flick

The name of the line, Bless’ed Are The Meek, annoys me. The dress, meh. Looks like it’s cut out of construction paper but at least she’s dressed.

  • crash1212

I like the dress. I like the clutch. Makeup is OK. The hair is silly. Too many rings. The shoes are SO bad…in general and with this dress.

  • LeelaST

I liked the dress until I realized the hemline swooped up on the sides. Ewwwh. The last photo is giving me “JWoww” – I’m sorry I even know who that is 🙁 Re Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D – they can keep Clark Gregg & Ming Na & should introduce a bona-fide superhero – that would be interesting.

  • melanie0866

It’s cute, but hip-widening. Fine on her, but anyone with actual hips should avoid.

  • demidaemon

I’m so glad TLo told me who she was in the thumbnail, because I had no idea who she was. As for the dress, it’s a little busy for me and the hem is weird. Shoes look like leg breakers. The End.

  • demidaemon

Reading all these comments make me glad the only thing i occasionally watch on network TV are The Voice and Modern Family. Though I hate myself for not watching Happy Endings and The New Normal when they were on, though I doubt it would have made much of a difference.

  • Cecilia Lin

I think the show has picked up quite a bit in the last 3 episodes, but the rest….meh. As for keeping the cast, I vote Clark and Ming-Na Wen. Love their dynamic and sass and badassness

  • mickiemonkey

This is what the fashionable Mayan virgin wears before getting tossed into a volcano.
