Cat Deeley at the 2013 WGSN Global Fashion Awards

Posted on November 01, 2013

Not gonna lie, kittens. We’re scraping the bottom of the barrel for posts today. Seriously, the wires are a sea of D-listers in not-so-great Halloween costumes or A-listers taking their kids out trick-or-treating, which we’re not gonna cover because a hailstorm of shit would come down on our heads.

So… um…. Ladies and Gentlemen, Miss Cat Deeley!

Cat Deeley attends the 2013 WGSN Global Fashion Awards at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Not that Cat herself can be found at the bottom of any barrels; just that on a day with more choices, this look wouldn’t rate a second glance. We hate the shape of the sleeves, which pretty much turn this into a sequined nightshirt. And the black pumps couldn’t be duller. And shouldn’t a look like this have some more fabulous jewelry?

Harrumph.

Love this, mostly because it’s very much something I would wear in real life: cute but baggy enough to high bulges in the wrong places.

She definitely could have used a snazzier shoe.

      • Violentcello

I dig it too. The length looks great on her legs and the bagginess avoids making it look trampy.

Agree on the shoes and sleeves though.

    • Sarah

Miss Cat Deely, who looks like she forgot her pants!

      • SouthernGirlRena

Normally I would agree with that but if I had her legs,I would never wear pants again. Snow, high winds, hypothermia, having to sit on hot car seats during the summer, everyone would be forced to see my legs.

        • Sarah

Ha! I very much agree. I just think that the “dress” really looks like a shirt, which then begs for pants.

        • CPK1

this is hilarious and I too would show those legs if I had them (if only…) but I just wish it was a smart. snazzy little dress!

    • Stella Zawistowski

Aren’t there at least a few cute boys wearing boring outfits? It IS Friday, after all.

    • MoHub

My octogenarian mother actually had something very similar only a few years ago, except that it had short sleeves and came just down to her knees. She looked adorable and not at all age-inappropriate.

    • Glam Dixie

Well, my daughter did tell me that it’s No Pants November…

    • Jessica Freeman

It is strange proportionally due to the long sleeves and shortness of the dress. I like the fabric, but something much better could have been created with it.

      • NoveltyRocker

If the sleeves would come up or down a couple inches, I feel like the overall shape would be more balanced but I do like the looseness with the short hem adding sexiness. The fabric has a nice low-key sparkle.

    • marlie

Did she forget her pants? No? Ok, well, then, different lipstick and different shoes and this would be less bland.

So You Think You Can’t Pants

      • CatherineRhodes

        Very clever.

        Well done, you.

    • Rhonda Shore

      I like it!

    • YoungSally

Guess even the red carpet is slow after Halloween.

    • Janet B

      Yawn.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

You should change your header to THE BELOVED Cat Deeley. Change out those boring, black pumps for a sexy, metallic sandal and I’d be fully in love, even with the sleeves as they are.

    • MilaXX

Yep, she’s in a glittery shirt with ugly shoes, but I’ll take that cause I am OVER Halloween.

      • marlie

Me too… I’m all ready for Thanksgiving (and THEN Christmas).

    • Erica_Vuitton

Aw Cat I love YOU but I hate your outfit I’m sorry.

    • mommyca

What happened with Sausage Friday today??? or billboard-size Cristiano took all the space??? :)

    • Michelle Wilson

This is actually pretty good day for Cat. Normally she leans toward the fussy and I prefer her in this somewhat stripped down look.

    • Imasewsure

Much much more interesting shoes could have salvaged this for me because I like the dress, sleeves and all

    • Deb_Lynn

Thanks, celebrities, for making awards useless and unimportant. Everybody gets awards! Every day! All the time!

      • Anplica Fiore

And we wonder why schools only do activities where everyone can win…

    • Emily Smith

Genuine question? Why can’t you show the A-listers trick or treating with their kids? Is it because there’s no fashion involved? On a different note a rundown of D-listers in their halloween costume would probably be amusing.

      • JDreesen

i was just about to suggest, nay, beg – please please please do a D-list One-Liner Rundown!

      • marlie

I think (and I could be totally wrong) it’s because the celebs are in “parent mode.” I don’t think TLo have ever featured an “on the street” post that involved a celeb’s kids. So if the only pictures that are out there are of them trick-or-treating with their kids, the children are probably in the photos as well, thus, no pics for the bitter kittens.

        • Emily Smith

Ah ok. I wasn’t sure. They did post an on the street one of Usher once, where he had his son with him (who is freaking adorable) I distinctly remember that. But I guess they do rarely post pics of the celebs with their kids.

        • formerlyAnon

I am not sure what their feelings are, we’ve seen a number of pictures of Ms. Klum, f’rinstance, out with her kids.

If celebs choose to take their kids to photo-op events, I don’t mind occasionally seeing shots of them elsewhere. But overall I prefer not seeing celeb’s kids in candid shots, (or prefer their faces be blurred) though I wouldn’t criticize our hosts for posting some such photos. It’s not like they’re ever focusing on the kids or stringing together a ton of photos over time showing the kids’ daily lives.

    • CatherineRhodes

Bring on the A-Listers trick-or-treating with their kids. I’m still frightened from that Heidi Klum post, I need some cute!

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I doubt that they will. There are those (myself included) who feel like pics of the kids should be off limits. I don’t mean in a preachy way, just that kids didn’t sign up for fame, fascination and harassment. As long as it is legal here, the paps will stop at nothing to get their shot. That will continue as long as they get paid the big bucks for those captures. The honorable don’t post those pics, and those who are bothered by them can do our part by not clicking the links and stories that do feature the kids.

I agree, it’s great seeing kids be cute and families having fun. Stars, they’re just like us, etc. But when I think about how most of those images are obtained for our amusement, I’d rather not be a viewer.

        • CatherineRhodes

Interesting point, and I completely agree that celebrity kids should be off limits. I was being a bit facetious in response to the scary shot of Heidi’s 100-year-old lady costume.

        • decormaven

          Yes, ITA.

    • wisenhar

Oh, TLo, just open the TLounge early and take the rest of the afternoon off. We all know you deserve it! :-)

    • NMMagpie

Is it me or is the eyeliner too much? Or just not applied well?

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

Don’t like the dress. Her legs are awesome.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

She looks like she just woke up.

      • aelizabethpm

Exactly what I was thinking – look who rolled out of bed and just put on some pumps to jazz up her sleepshirt

    • Lola Channing

the sleeves need to be longer and some knee-high boots – then cool. As is: snooze fest.

    • boweryboy

She thought the dress alone could do the the heavy lifting. She thought wrong.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

I don’t think it’s that bad. She could use some snazzier shoes for sure, but I don’t think she needs much jewelry. It’s already covered in sequins, so it may be overkill.

    • Ramon Figueroa

If I were a biological woman and looked like that, I would never leave the house unless I looked positively sickening. This is so simple. Nice, but kind of boring. Now those are bowling pins!!!

    • http://michjeff-quiltersparadise.blogspot.com/ Michelle Young

If you would change your minds about Project Runway Allstars you would have something else to blog about today, she said very hopefully.

    • Barb Rayhttp://www.google.com/

      Who?
p.s. I almost like the dress. But, you can scarcely go wrong showing off gams like that.

    • formerlyAnon

I think she looks dressed-up cute, which may not be event appropriate, but I like on her. And if I were inclined to fancy my own gender, I would fancy her in this very, very much. I find loose, slip & slide-able clothing much sexier, usually, than skin tight garments.

    • ChaquitaPhilly

It’s kind of bleh for the incredible Cat! Something’s missing, but what?

    • jif

So this isn’t a low-effort version of a Disco Ball outfit for Halloween? Huh.

    • MannahattaMamma

That woman would attend the opening of an envelope.

    • Aidan B

I actually really like this. I can’t stand her brassy hair color, but overall she looks fabulous here.

    • Veronica1022

The outfits not horrible- but I would prefer pictures of hot men taking their kids trick or treating. Just for the cute

    • http://weirdinedgewise.blogspot.com ONEWEIRDWORD

I like it – it suits her figure, and jewellery I think would be too much. The problem here is hair & makeup.
