Wrinkly bust. But the color and shape are lovely on her.

    • MoHub

      Riding a tad low, too.

      • zenobar

Exactly – that low-riding bustline, combined with the inverted-nipple fabric tucking (which was surely not on purpose), are definitely detracting from what could have been a near-perfect look.

        • Rhonda Shore

It’s really a shame, it’s the best i’ve seen her look. The color is perfection on her.

          • 3boysful

Agree–I think it’s because it’s red-violet (at least on my monitor).

      • ThesisMonkey

yes, I’m most distracted by that

  • Lolo Andre

    • seelebrennt

that’s the first thing that popped into my head. i love her, and yes she looks pretty, but SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZZZZZZZZE….

      • conniemd

I love her too. She always disappoints on the red carpet, though. She seems like the girl next door that has never grasped that she’s a beautiful movie star.

      • Stella Zawistowski

    • Deb Oswald

Exactly! Doesn’t this need a necklace??

      • Mary229

I would love a necklace but they seem to show up less and less these days on the red carpet. Wonder why….

      • Clueless_Jock

Needs major diamond necklace and tiara.

    • Mary229

One person’s boring is another person’s class. I’d take this simple, elegant look on a lovely, legit talented woman who never comes across like a desperate try hard over half the see-through, tacky “let me go out in a bodysuit” crap a lot of these women wear any day of the week.

      • charlotte

        Better safe than Miley!

  • Diego!

Gorgeous! It’s a pitty she didn’t wear that much jewelry, but she looks stunning to me!

    • gigi kennedy

a drop dead necklace or bracelet would have sung out here, right?

      • Diego!

        I agree! 🙂

      • iheartbuffy

tricky territory – something too heavy in the necklace department – especially dark colored – could turn the look in the wrong direction. But agreed on the bracelet score

        • gigi kennedy

oh a gorgeous cuff of fabulousness would have looked amazing!

  • marlie

It’s pretty. Nothing Earth-shattering, but it’s a lovely color on her, and the fit is just about perfect. I wish she’d gone with bolder makeup and accessories (though the earrings are pretty), but that’s my standard complaint these days.

  • 8daysaweek

She looks pretty but as I scrolled through, I just thought “Haven’t I seen her in this before?” Pretty but standard.

    • Vickiefantastico

Right?!? Isn’t this almost the exact same look she wore at the end of Enchanted? The purple is just a bit darker.

      • 8daysaweek

You nailed it. That’s exactly what it reminds me of!

      • Mary229

It’s very similar which is probably why I like it because I always thought she looked absolutely stunning at the end of that film in the ballroom scene. I didn’t know who she was at the time but I remember the people I was with when she came down the stairs in the purple dress saying, “Wow…she’s a beautiful woman.” So I think that’s why I like it. I wish she would wear this shade of purple more.

  • PastryGoddess

    Oh look it’s Amy Adaalkfjezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • nannypoo

She looks great. A little wrinkly in the bust maybe, but the color is pretty and her makeup is beautiful.

  • That’s got to be the most bland Westwood item I have ever seen. The only thing saving it is that great color, which looks smashing on her.

    • Nicholas

Pro tip: don’t throw your red-carpet dress in the washer and dryer.

  • Nothing is wrong, per se, but haven’t we seen this from her a million times over? It’s so bland.

    • demidaemon

I so agree, especially with those in the minithread above. Suck it, downvoters! 😉

  • Shannon Beamer

Amy should join Allison Williams in the TLo dictionary under the definition for “resting on pretty.” Color is great, and her head looks pretty, but this reads standard AA for me.

  • YAWN

  • Lori

This would be a lot better if the bust fit correctly. The bodice is the only interest the dress has, aside from the terrific color, and the poor fit is really messing with it.

  • Jaeda Laurez

  • Roz

So boring even a Muppet Merkin on the hips would be an improvement!

  • NYCGlamourpuss

Hitch that bust up just a teense, and this would be perfect. Sleek, fits well, great color for her, and the hair and makeup look great. And I’ll tell you what, I don’t really like her, so this is HUGE praise coming from me.

  • Erica

I cannot be impartial, as Amy is my pretend celebrity girlfriend ever since I saw her in The Muppets.

  • alyce1213

It’s a beautiful dress, a great color for her, and she looks lovely. Nothing new, but nothing bad.

  • All her dresses look the same lately.

  • ralish

Basically a duller version of that dress she wore during the ball scene in Enchanted.

  • Jessica Freeman

Well she took a Westwood and made it absolutely boring.

  • Nancer

This dress is SCREAMING for a necklace!

  • ThesisMonkey

can I get an “of course”?

  • Violentcello

Is that the same dress she wore to the ball in Enchanted?

  • iheartbuffy

    excellent color for her

  • Tracy_Flick

You can’t just have a little Vivienne Westwood tucking/draping. You have to go ALL the way with it to get that regal deconstructed HBC feel. Otherwise it just looks sloppy.

However, the color is beautiful and her hair and makeup are nice.

  • YourLibrarian

It’s not terribly exciting, but she looks good, and it’s a great color on her. I love the face and hair. I just wish the dress were were tugged up a skoch, and she could use some jewelry.

  • mmebam

What is up with the shower, tuck and dry hair on the red carpet lately?

  • Maluca

I feel like she’s worn this dress 4 times already…

  • Imasewsure

A good option for sharing dresses with Alison Williams…. very pretty but boring. Great color though

  • KateShouldBeWorking

I would pay good money to see her in some leather pants and trashy shoes, just once.

  • KinoEye

    She’s gorge, but YAWN.

  • princessricky

it does not offend. hair looks lovely

  • Mary229

It’s a stunning color and her skin and hair look natural and beautiful. She’s clearly comfortable and happy. I think she looks lovely. But then again, I think she always looks lovely. She stays true to who she is and I don’t have a problem with that.

  • quiltrx

The color is great, but it needs to be hoiked up a bit.
And this may be the most ordinary, average, dull draping I’ve ever seen on a Vivienne Westwood.

    • bellafigura1

Yeah, hard to identify this as VW — I was hoping for a bustle!

  • MilaXX

    bust line fits weird.

  • shopgirl716

Didn’t she wear this in that movie where she was the princess? Of course I can’t remember the name, Susan Sarandon played the evil witch. It looks just like the dress she wore to the ball.

    • conniemd

      The movie was enchanted.

  • Danielle

    Love her hair!

  • bravobravp

Love this on her. That color is hers, own it!

  • French_Swede

Amy Adams always reminds me that redheads can wear any color, as long as it’s the right hue.

    • Jennifer Ford

The trick (for me) is to avoid orangey undertones — anything with a blue undertone works fine.

  • Kent Roby

The dress is puckered, but otherwise “safe”. I would not in a million years guess that this is by the usually-exuberant Madame Westwood.

  • jmorino08

Beautiful color, but it’s making her completely shapeless. Or is that just an optical illusion of a dark dress against a dark backdrop?

  • megohd

Personal best. I love that she eschewed the mermaid hair.

  • River

    Chic but dull.

  • AlisonS

I can’t tell if I’m bored because I feel like she’s worn this before, or she’s always so boring I just assume I’ve seen it before.

  • KT

    *falls asleep on keyboard*

    • BrooklynBomber

ha! Saw yours just after clicked “post.”

  • crash1212

This is a personal best to my eye. I love that color for her and her hair looks great. It’s a very pretty dress. Only quibble – would a bracelet have killed you Amy?

  • BrooklynBomber

    Wuh? Huh?
    Oh, sorry. I fell asleep.

  • gksp

Hate the sad color… otherwise acceptable

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I hope she doesn’t raise her arms.

  • Claudia Berry

Isn’t that the Princess Giselle dress at the end of Enchanted?

    • Jennifer Ford

THAT’S where I’ve seen her in (something incredibly similar to) that!

  • Mona_Visa

I’m upset! With that color— and shape— this could have been a WERQ. Look at her gorgeous hair! But the bust just ruins it.

    • Gatto Nero

Particularly the fabric confusion around her left boob (right side in the shot) — which doesn’t appear on the other side. Not sure if it’s the fit on her or a quirk of Westwood’s design.

  • CarrieBaby

Yawn… Just an all around boring look

  • elzatelzabelz

I’m pretty sure that’s the dress she wore in the “Enchanted” Ball, and I am only a tiny bit ashamed that I know that. It was good enough to defeat the evil stepmother-to-be, so I think it is good here. Also, the color is so pretty on her.

  • Airkisses

So, am l the only one who saw Nicole Kidman? The hair & face especially reminded me of her.
