Darlings, THIS:

Andy Wahloo Bar, Paris

Is just what we need. Some eye-popping visuals and unflattering lighting. Also: drinks. Fabulous. Why do we need it?

Because it’s gonna be a long night.

Place your bets, folks. Which one’s taking home the prize tonight?

We think it comes down to Justin and Dom, with Alexandria getting no small amount of judge support. We suspect Kerry Washington will like Bradon’s collection, but we don’t think he’ll be the winner.

First one eliminated: Bradon

Second runner-up: Alexandria

After that, it’s a tossup.

Tears. Drama.

In other news, T Lo sat down with none other than Miss Nina Garcia in her office at Marie Claire back in August, a week after our wedding and a few weeks into this season. Why are we telling you this? Because the dishy chat we had is in the November issue of Marie Claire and because you love us and want to check it out. And yes, she really did come into the office singing her congratulations over our nuptials. She’s a doll.

Pour me something fancy, bartender. To Dom!

    • Tigerfly

      Dom for the win!

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Uncles, you are living the fabulous life. Kudos for all your well earned blessings.

I’d love to see Dom take this thing. But I’ve got a long track record for being disappointed in the outcome.

      • Aidan B

        Preach!

    • bertkeeter

Best collection… JUSTIN by a mile!

    • Kate4queen

I’ve given up predicting who will win. I’d like it to be Dom or Bradon but that’s probably the kiss of death. :) Only lunch time in Hawaii so I’m going to be doing a lot of Twitter avoidance for the rest of the day/

    • bertkeeter

      Best collection… JUSTIN by a mile!Best collection… JUSTIN by a mile!

      • Sarah

        Sooo, you like Justin’s collection?

        • bertkeeter

Justin showed a beautifully balanced, styled, accessorized and forward collection ( without being gimmicky) Was an amazing opportunity to see what he could do if he wins this season! I feel he has the drive and maturity to really make something out of a win!

          • Sarah

I appreciate your point of view. I was impressed by his creativity and thoughtfulness when he had time to give his inspiration full attention. I’m not sure if I felt inspired by his fabric choices, but I do agree that he deserved the chance to show. I am more on team Dom, though. I liked her construction and her prints, and I think she’s got the drive and maturity also.

      • Munchkn

From my recollection of viewing the collections a couple of weeks ago, Justin’s collection blew me away.

      • RroseSelavy

I love you now and always, Bert Keeter, but Dom!!!

        • bertkeeter

Dom was good but a bit “Judy Jetson” for me….I didn’t see her in this look at all!

          • Sarah

Bert Keeter. You are the actual clairvoyant this season, because damned if my ears didn’t hear Dom describe her collection as “JUDY JETSON.” And for the win, it turned out to be! Good contest, this time, for sure.

      • SouthernGirlRena

I am so tempted to go back and look at the collections but I am resisting.

    • Winter_White

Looking forward to this Runway…I’ve remained un-spoilered, so I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised and maybe even really love at least one of the final collections.

At the very end of tonight’s show, let’s everybody yell “Auf Wiedersehen, Wiener Schnitzel!!” at Heidi. (tm Jay McCarroll)

(LOL — That’s right, y’all: I have decided, Gretchen Wieners-style, to make AWWS happen.) ;)

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I also haven’t looked at the collections. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do.

        • Sarah

I never have before, but I did, and now I’ve pretty well forgotten, except for the general gist. I wish I hadn’t though, because now I REALLY know who I want ftw. I would’ve been rooting for her anyway, though.

        • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

It’s better to see the clothes actually move, coming down the runway–and going back. You don’t get the full effect with still shots.

      • Winter_White

Regarding Jay McC: Do you suppose he could ever be talked into doing an All-Stars? Or did he totally burn his bridges with Heidi…thus guaranteeing that he’ll never be asked?

        • bitchybitchybitchy

Do you think Jay McC has anything to gain from appearing on PR:ALsoRans?

          • Winter_White

Ha! And I just remembered he was a contestant on that weight loss show, whatever it was called…which I didn’t see, but heard that he won.
I’m just selfish and would just like to see him again.

            • bitchybitchybitchy

I stil remember Jay’s finale collection-that episode was the one that hooked me on PR.

            • formerlyAnon

I saw him on that show. Unlike many of the celebrity* contestants he acted like a responsible, pleasant, grown up and committed to the process. You could see the intelligence and analytical ability that helped him win PR, although the PR filming emphasized personality (which he also has.)

*Was it called Celebrity Weight Loss? I think “celebrity” was in the name of the show.

        • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Didn’t Heidi burn her bridge with him? As I recall, she turned down the dress that she asked him to design. There may be some drama that I missed, but that’s how I remember it.

          • Winter_White

I think the scent of scorched bridges was everywhere at the time. He turned down the prize, she turned down his dress, he began to bad-mouth Heidi and the whole production in the press…
I didn’t follow the acrimonious aftermath either, but still remember Season One — which I watched entirely on DVD — with such affection.

    • Sarah

If memory serves without going back to look, Dom’s collection is beautiful, vibrant, and exactly what the RC hasn’t been of late. So yeah, she should win.

    • manina

I hope it’s Justin. I think KW will love that white pipette dress since she wears white so well. I just hope they don’t make another blunder like Gretchen and choose her doppelganger Alexandria.

    • hughman

Here’s where I am : I had to google their names to remember which one is which. Does this bar sell vodka by the box? Cause I am gonna need that shit.

      • MilaXX

I’ll take a box and a very long straw

    • KateShouldBeWorking

I’m concerned they’ll give it to Justin, not as a designer but as a deaf person. If correct, it would be unfair to everyone, especially him.

      • epenthesis

        TLo said it before, “condescending.”

To be fair, his collection is leaps and bounds better than what he did in the challenges. But it’s remarkable that he was allowed to coast virtually the whole way here.

        • KateShouldBeWorking

          “Coast” is precisely the word.

      • angryparsnip

        I share you concern

But I did like Justin’s collection when he showed it with the wild hair better then how he toned it down for Heidi.
        cheers, parsnip

    • epenthesis

I think Bradon’s going to sneak ahead of Alexandria. Getting her into the finale was the real fight; getting her into top 3 is pushing it. He’s not getting top two though.

I’m for Dom but kind of see Justin taking it because they do love their narratives. They also love confounding their narratives at the last minute sometimes, though, so I’ll hold out hope.

    • Ros

If Dom doesn’t win this, I call shenanigans.

    • Eric Stott

Darlings, I am HERE! I’m going to celebrate this glorious finale by mixing a cocktail with a wonderful name – A Widow’s Kiss.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        Sounds perfect. Ingredients?

        • Eric Stott

1 jigger Calvados. 1/2 jigger Chartreuse (Yellow if you want a very sweet drink, Green if you want it a bit drier) 1/2 jigger Benedictine (or B&B if you want it a bit drier) 2 dashes of aromatic bitters. Shake with ice, serve in a chilled glass.

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Lovely. A bit more work than I am willing to put in for a Thursday night buzz, but delish, none the less. Enjoy.

            • Eric Stott

I don’t drink much, so the elaboration is part of the fun.

          • Tracy_Flick

Sounds wonderful. But I’ll be having the Middle Aged Mom’s Kiss – boxed wine.

            • Sarah

I’m going with thirtysomething ghetto, Natty Ice. Does the job, makes the brain feel like a dried-up walnut, costs very little.

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Oh, pumpkin. I am so sorry I missed you! I was having actual cocktails with people that were in the same place as I. It was weird, but I soldiered through. I was quite put out, though, that the lounge was not active before I left.

        Plaid.

        • Sarah

Swifflytiltz! Actual cocktails put me here late too. I feel I was dazzling with my accessories this evening, but I still would’ve preferred to lounge. I commiserate.

    • Eric Stott

I’d like to see Dom win, but out of the others there’s no one I actually Hate…so in a negative way this has been the best season in years.

      • epenthesis

Yeah, the last one in which I liked the designers so much as people was S8. Even Gretchen struck me kind of like Ted Baxter from the Mary Tyler Moore Show, so clueless in her own egoism that it was endearing.

        • MilaXX

Ted Baxter describes it perfectly .

          • Swiftlytiltingplanet

That’s an insult to Ted Baxter.

        • Swiftlytiltingplanet

The only thing Gretchen was clueless about is how her egoism made her look. She was not remotely Ted Baxter clueless.

      • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

        I agree wholeheartedly. :-)

    • MilaXX

I agree it really comes down to Dom and Justin. Brandon has nice pieces but an uneven collection lacking in cohesion. Alexandria’s only appeals to a small audience. The question is do they take in the entire body of work over the course of the season? I like Justin and think he did a nice job with his finale collection. I don’t know if I see him having the hustle to make a name in fashion like Siriano. Honestly I’m not sure if Dom does either, however if I had to chose between the two, I’d place my money on Dom. That said I have no idea if the show prefers the narrative of hearing impaired designer who was eliminated and brought back only to make it to the finale over someone who has pretty consistently done good work all season.
Strapping in for a long night.

      • Eric Stott

Aside from Siriano none of the winners have made it big- at best they’ve had successful low key careers with here and there a commercial sponsor. The show exposure certainly doesn’t hurt, even the auf’d designers are demi-celebrities and sometimes become better known than the winners.

        • epenthesis

          Laura Bennett anyone?

What am I saying. Laura Bennett everyone?

          • alyce1213

My favorite PR contestant of all time.

          • Eric Stott

Yes- she’s been successful commercially, but you don’t hear buzz about the New Laura Bennett Collection. Being a wife and mother might have made her career simmering rather than hot.

            • epenthesis

I meant more as a demi-celebrity than as a successful designer.

            • Eric Stott

I have a vivid picture of her personality and personal style – her actual work I’m less in love with. Actually I’m not in love with her personality. I think that I’d love sitting with her over tea trading barbs…but I’m certain that after I left I’d be dissected without mercy.

            • Swiftlytiltingplanet

              She is a Mean Girl.

            • MoHub

Widow. Which has been a lot to cope with in recent times.

          • Swiftlytiltingplanet

I know that I am in the huge minority here, but I have never liked Laura Bennett. Not her design atheistic – which was deep plunging neckline all the time – or her personally (totally with Kane when he said he was concerned about her character).

Going even further – I liked Jeffrey Sebelius (aka Angry Little Peanut). He did not always behave well, but he was also treated badly.

            • pippitypup

It’s a misconception that all Laura did was plunging necklines. In any event, since her husband died she’s been quiet.

            • MoHub

Design atheistic? I personally have no clue about her religious beliefs.

            • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Hee! Posting after several cocktails apparently does not help my already somewhat sad spelling skills.

        • MoHub

Actually, Chloe Dao has expanded her business considerably. She wasn’t looking for the kind of fame Christian Siriano has achieved, but that doesn’t make her any less successful. She got what she wanted on her own terms, and there’s nothing wrong with doing what you want to do and doing it well.

Besides, she’s also hosting Project Runway: Vietnam.

    • Coco Cornejo

Anyone else see Tim Gunn’s photo on FB? The caption reads “Everyone, watch tonight’s Project Runway finale! You won’t be disappointed! Meanwhile, I’m cleaning up the carnage..”

This, and the NYT article, is the closest Uncle Tim’s ever gotten to publicly criticizing the PR contestants.

      • Eric Stott

The shutdown of his video blog is a crime against history.

      • epenthesis

He’s been pretty frank at times; I remember him saying that he was “through” with Daniel Franco, and that he had antipathy for Victorya Hong.

        • MoHub

His diatribes against Vincent in season 3 are legendary.

        • demidaemon

Who didn’t have antipathy for epic bitchface Victorya?

    • BrooklynBomber

I need alcohol. A steady stream of it. I don’t even care what it is at this point.

      • MilaXX

I know! I have PR fatigue and even though I know I’ll watch I’m weary of the upcoming All Star season already.

        • BrooklynBomber

Today I have life fatigue. Although I did happen to see the episode today where Sandro and Ken and Helen have a screaming fight (I’d missed it before). It was pretty disgusting. That’s what this show is about now, too much of the time.

    • NDC_IPCentral

Am off to my Wednesday night workout session with my trainer – scheduling, doncha know – so I won’t be ’round these parts until the show is on…. and there’s a part of me that would rather be making the sauerkraut, sausage, potato and onion dish that I dreamed up for a buncha oddities in my larder.

Will be back some time after 9EDT, most likely, to see what the BKs have to say. As to who wins? Well, no one is awful (or memorable), so I guess I just wish them all well. For the life of me, I can’t remember anything from the pix Our Boys posted during NYFW, so it’ll all be new to me two hours from now.

Ta-ta ’til I’m back from pushing iron, my friends.

      • Cheryl

        You’re already 24 hours late. What’s another 2 hours?

      • Call me Bee

And don’t tell your trainer about that sausage. But that mash-up sounds delish to this gal…I grew up eating saurkraut and sausage….

        • Sarah

Me too. Kielbasa and an apple in the kraut was my second favorite dinner!

        • NDC_IPCentral

Believe it or not, it came in a gift package from HIM!

      • Glenn Johnson

This dish you dreamed of, we make for dinner. Cut up everything into chunks and layer it in a casserole dish. Cover with sauerkraut – the Bavarian kind has caraway seeds and bake in the oven for 45 minutes. Yum. And weirdly enough, if you add an apple it is even better.

    • MilaXX

I’ve been thinking, and I would love feedback; why does PR appear to have such trouble duplicating the success of Siriano? I mean Top Chef has launched and enhanced the careers of many chefs, Face Off seems to help the careers of its SFX artist. Why not PR? I understand why some like Anya don’t succeed, but Seth Aaron, or Mondo, even Gretchen (I’m probably missing others). I realize many who have been on the show have elevated their careers and other have achieved different avenues of fame, but in terms of designer wear pretty consistently been associated with RC fashion, why only one in 11 seasons?

      • Eric Stott

That’s the big question, and even the New York Times brought it up. My knowledge of Fashion is pretty much limited to the Tlo comments, and I seldom see lines from previous designers. I sometimes hear about Chris March, but he’s gone back to the crazy costumes….and how many of you out there have bought or at least tried on one of his foam rubber wigs?

        • MilaXX

I see them, but they get little media exposure. I just find it curious.

        • Sarah

I just saw ‘em in Target last weekend! I did not try on, because I assumed all Target-goers before me already had, but I thought they were fun.

          • Eric Stott

I bought a Greaser wig- that’s most of what’s left in the stores near me. The outrageously extravagant women’s wigs went quickly.

            • Sarah

Ours had the Geisha, mostly, and the purple/lime witch. Pretty cool! I would love to see a kid with one on at my door but I seem to always be working the night shift on Halloween.

          • Munchkn

That’s why I didn’t try any on either.

            • Sarah

Public wigs & hats = nay.

            • artjournallife

NO NITS! When I taught preschool, I used to check their little heads. I don’t miss THAT!

            • Sarah

AMEN. Without deets, I had lice a few times as a kid, so it is not to be trifled with, esp. if you have really fine hair that won’t work with the nit comb. To Hell With That.

      • Lisa_Co

Based on what Tim said (IMO somewhat ingenuously) in the NYT article, “not everyone wants to be Michael Kors”. But based on what Christian Siriano has said (and how he has deliberately distanced himself from PR), the fashion industry does not look kindly on reality TV. And now that PR has stopped looking for fashion grad students as participants, and will take almost anyone (drama potential especially) I think the fashion industry actively avoids PR participants.

        • Eric Stott

I wonder how many Parsons graduates have been on the show – or applied? You’re right, many of the contestants in recent years have been of the home crafter type – someone who started running up clothes as a hobby – or sometimes an Artistic Statement. Nothing wrong with that, but being taught some basic drafting and sewing techniques can be a good thing. I’m not certain some of them could have followed a Simplicity pattern unaided.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

I wonder how much of the casting is done to appeal to a broader audience that has less knowledge and/or interest in fashion. Lifetime certainly likes playing up the plucky self-taught characters, and the fake drama.

        • MilaXX

I get that as we’ll . I think Jay McCaroll has deliberately chosen a more low key approach. I just find it hard to believe in 11, soon to 12 seasons Christian was the only contestant with that thirst.

      • Munchkn

I recall reading something that Anthony Bourdain had written about Top Chef. He said that Top Chef would remain a good competition as long as Tom Colicchio was the head judge. I think that the judging is what part of what helps us remember the winners and even the losers on Top Chef and not so much PR.

        • MilaXX

I’m not talking about remembering them. If I google some of the past winners and contestants, they are opening restaurants competing and really creating names and reputations in the food world outside of reality tv. I agree Tom’s standards probably play a part, but Nina, Michael and even Zac have a measure of fashion cred, so why not PR?

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Maybe because as a Chef, they are more easily accessible after the show. If I like a chef and they are in my city, I can go support them. Me and many others, conversely. If we like a designer, we are at the mercy of the if they get a line produced, when, is it affordable, can it be found easily? Restaurant culture has a distinct grape vine, loyalty and the ability for a fan to be proactive in seeking out their works.
            (just my bumbled theory)

          • Stubenville

I’d say that Chloe fits the Top Chef model the best; she has a thriving boutique business in her home town. I’d say that launching a brand is a daunting exercise even for boldface names going out on their own, like Tom Ford.

            • MilaXX

I’m not so sure. I think Chloe fits more in line with what Tim mentioned in his article as not everyone wanting to be Michael Kors. Top Chef winners are doing THANGS! IIRC a few even tried out for the prestigious Bocuse D’Or. Still others are opening restaurants that earn Michelin stars. Chloe is more like the ones who return to being sous chefs or ink endorsement deals like Fabio. They do well, but on a smaller scale.

            • MoHub

And that, possibly, is all they need to make them happy.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

From the outside, fashion seems like a clique-y industry. I imagine anyone coming from the world of reality competition is something akin to being the principal’s kid, i.e. social pariah. It’s similar with the majority of those winning the singing shows. So few actually go on to have major stardom, despite the fact some have more talent than the same old 10 acts that get mainstream radio/tv play. These shows are truly just for the audience, because no one seems to give much of a shit once the TV is off.

        • MilaXX

I do think Fashion’s inherent snobbery has a bit to do with it.

      • epenthesis

Well, before Christian, the only one who really might have broken out was Jay, who handicapped himself by refusing the prize. And after him, the winners began to look less and less special, less “the winner of Project Runway!” and more “the twenty-fourth winner of Project Runway!” Christian also benefited from having a personal style distinctive enough that he could be parodied on SNL; plenty of people who didn’t even watch the show knew who he was. And the Lifetime switch engendered a lot of bad blood and, some would say, set a trend of winners who didn’t much break out of existing styles.

Which isn’t to say that there weren’t deserving and memorable designers along the way, winners or not, but that they’ve got less of a shot of capturing the public imagination in the same way as when PR was a relatively new thing.

        • Lisa_Co

Both Austin Scarlett and Daniel Vosovic have done pretty well. Austin worked for Reem Acra for awhile. Daniel just finished being part of the CFDA Fashion Fund mentorship group (the group that gave their first award to Proenza Schouler).

          • Eric Stott

Austin Scarlett is a pretty typical PR designer- he has a very profitable niche designing for the woman who wants a poufy confection for a wedding gown.

          • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

I love Austin Scarlett. Wasn’t he working in the fashion industry already?

        • Call me Bee

Jay did refuse the prize because it would have meant that the Bravo people, or maybe the Magical Elves, would have owned his butt for a certain amount of time. He has made a name for himself in the quilting world. He’s designed a number of collections that are beautiful and funky.

          • Stubenville

I believe it was actually 10% of all his future earnings.

            • Call me Bee

Is that right? Whatever it was, he didn’t want to be tied to them, as I recall.

          • epenthesis

Jay, Austin, Daniel V. and quite a few others have indeed done well for themselves after PR. But they ain’t at or near Siriano’s level of success, which was the question.

          • Sarah

He was and remains my fave winner. And I luv to see his product. I would actually not mind having his career, now that I think about it…

        • MilaXX

Good points. I guess I just find it sad that the affiliation with Lifetime has failed to find at least one addition talent.

      • Qitkat

        Fabulous question.

I had always hoped for subsequent success from Mondo, Leanne, Korto, Jillian, and Uli, as I thought one thing they each brought to the design table was a very strong point of view, an established aesthetic.

But when contestants such as Helen are foisted upon us, with their whining, and drama taking the place of designers who don’t have to whimper “i don’t know what to do” and “I’ve never done this before” and “I don’t work with XYZ,” not to mention the overt drama queens and princesses that have peopled the show for ages, all credibility has been lost, in my opinion. Why would the industry take any of them seriously? I realize fashion is peopled with quirky, and sometimes abrasive personalities; but these are also people who have “paid their dues” and have been in the industry for a very long time. Foolish young designers who think they are the cat’s pajamas right out of the gate are just heading for a big fall.

But truly I don’t know why some of these earlier designers haven’t had a semblance of the success Christian has had. He may be that rare individual who is the whole package—talent, drive, inspiration, determination to succeed at all costs, and the recipient of financial backing that is so badly needed to put on collections year after year.

        • MilaXX

All good points and you listed a lot of designers I expected more from.

        • Lisa_Co

Also Christian was lucky enough to get solid investor backing early on. I follow on Twitter Dmitri (one-way monkey) and the PR money is nowhere near enough to start a brand. And then, of course, there is the “how to build” your brand. PR gives you some money and then you have to fend for yourself after that. On the other hand, the CFDA Fashion Fund gives you not only cash but I believe a year’s worth of mentoring from established designers on how to run a business. I think even the recent PR winners who have some talent simply flounder over how to actually run a business.

          • Qitkat

Excellent points. Alexandria was really trying to establish her creds in business, pushing for her reasons she ought to win. I actually thought she had convinced the judges. I wonder if that played into their deliberations at all. I’m not familiar with the CFDA. Do they hold a competition? As far as creative people not knowing how to run a business, I think that’s a valid criticism; my son graduated from film school without there being any classes offered at all in that area.

            • Lisa_Co

The CFDA and Vogue jointly run a yearly competition to help foster emerging young designers. It’s a prestigious prize (gets a lot of press) that includes a cash prize and about a year of mentoring from established designers that helps them learn how to build a business. The first winners were Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. I think Alexander Wang won a subsequent year. That first year the competition was documented in the film “Seamless”. It’s good movie; you can rent it on Netflix.

            • Qitkat

Thanks. I’ll look for it. That sounds like a really worthy competition.

      • Pril Wood

I’m going with “the judges” as my answer. Get more seasoned Designers to judge, or bring in high-end retail buyers who don’t judge on what they personally “would wear”

        • MilaXX

Good point and goes back to Tom’s role as head judge on Top Chef.

          • Pril Wood

Our kitties look related! Yes, I read that comment and I couldn’t help but compare. I like Heidi and Nina but their judging seems so subjective sometimes. I liked “design star” because it dealt directly with retailers who made choices based on what actually would sell in their stores and paid the designers accordingly.

            • MilaXX

Maybe they’re cousins once removed or something. :-)

            • Sarah

Ur kitties always make me think of you two BK’s as friends and you prob don’t know each other ha ha. It is just that your lil’ squares are both pretty white snoot cats.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

I know they like getting celeb judges, but I’d rather see someone such as Fern Mallis,or the high-end retail, too.

      • PastryGoddess

Christian also jumped in and took most of the endorsements that were offered to him. So he not only got his prize money, but additional corporate money as well. Remember his payless shoes collections. They paid him to design for them and those shoes flew off the shelves. I should know I have 6 pairs in my closet.

    • M. H. Leader

Based on the runway collections TLo posted last month, I’m gonna say:

Justin for the win. Dom #2. (Which is a pity…I’ve loved Dom’s stuff all season; I just don’t think this collection reflected her abilities.)

Braden and Alexandria…meh. Not so much. I’m good with Braden getting aufed first.

    • Imasewsure

New circulation “personal best” for Marie Clare next month!! So proud of our dear uncles… and yes this episode is going to suck

P.S. why would Alexandra show up on her first runway show – and on national TV – looking like me ???

Put some effort in to it for f^&k sake… geez…

      Go Braden! Go Dom!

      • Munchkn

Speaking of Marie Clare, why does Heidi always mispronounce “Marie”? She says the name of the mag as MaryClare.

        • MoHub

It’s actually how the Brits Anglicize the name, and Heidi picked it up from there. Think pie-ell-a rather than pie-ay-ya and Don Kwix-ote rather than Don Kee-oh-tay.

          It’s what they do.

    • tixilyttik

I hope I’m wrong but I have a feeling it’s going to be Justin. They want to take the Tim Gunn save and the nice deaf guy combo theme all the way to the bitter end.
Justin’s final collection makes that a bit less unbearable for me. He really did semi deliver an okay collection.
I like many others feel that Dom is the clear winner this season. She is the fashion designer, no matter who the winner is. I just don’t understand why she didn’t do more fabulous jackets or maybe a full length version of her coat from the challenge when she came in second to Bradon (oh maybe because she came in second to Bradon). How in the world is she supposed to know what the judges want from her?
I would also hope they take into consideration all of Bradon’s past work, I would be okay with Bradon winning.
Honestly, I would also be okay with Alexandria, but I don’t see it happening. I would LOVE to have a pair of pants that I could put on, button up, look good and be comfortable in that are not sweats. Her pants made out of the right fabric could be something revolutionary for both men and women. I would like a color option other than beige though please.
Well I am cable-free so won’t know until T&L recap tomorrow and then I will watch for the heck of it over the weekend. Best of luck to all. PR is still a kind of fun distraction, but it’s less fun every season.

    • formerlyAnon

I’m torn. I liked and disliked in almost equal measure in Dom’s final collection. I felt more even-handed like for Justin’s but I couldn’t love his fabrics at all.

In other news, y’all are leading me to buy another magazine I’ve never purchased. I hope that in the run-up to publication of The Book, I am forced to do so over and over again! (Though I don’t know what could be as enticing as you two AND Ms. Garcia).

    • nosniveling

      Team Dom here!!

    • BobStPaul

As collections I think Justin and Alexandria did the best jobs even though I wasn’t crazy about them. I will say that Justin did a far, far better job than I would have expected given his work on the show. I would probably give the win to him were it not for those weird winged epaulets or whatever they were. I liked more individual pieces of Bradon’s than of anyone else but it was far from a cohesive collection and I don’t think deserving of the win. And I found Dom’s to be the most disappointing of all of them as I think she is a much better designer than her collection demonstrated. I know many people love her collection but I didn’t care for it at all. Frankly, this is one of those seasons when I really don’t care who wins and I won’t be upset by any result.

      • Eric Stott

Alexandria is still sticking with the dropped crotch, but she’s almost making it work.

        • Stubenville

Maybe Ya could make a dropped crotch work, just maybe. And she’s absolutely magic walking the runway.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

Ya has been standout on the runway. She can really sell almost anything she wears.

        • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

I could fully embrace her if she’d raise the crotch a couple inches. LOL.

I look at her pants and they need just a little more shape. I like loose pants, but I like a little more definition.

    • Call me Bee

I’ll have vodka. Lots of vodka. That is, after I have just one glass of champers to celebrate that this dismal season is over, and to toast to you, dear Uncles for your fabulous article in Marie Claire.
I have not seen the collections, so I have no aopinion as of yet. I pretty much agree that DOm and Justinbe will be the last one standing.
On another note–Bravo had a marathon of season three today; I caught the episode where the designers made clothes for each others’ moms and sisters. Ahhh it was so fun to see Uli and Laura and even Jeffrey. I remember him being a real dick while dealing with Angela’s mom, but today I really listened–she was actually rather whiny. She was very closed to any different colors or styles–and told both Tim Gunn and Jeffrey that she didn’t like the colors he was using–blue–while she wearing blue! It was interesting to see once again.

      • Stubenville

Hey Bee – let me buy you that champagne.

        • Call me Bee

          Thanks so much, Stuben. Prosit!

      • Munchkn

Damn! I missed that! Was the marathon on this afternoon? A mini-marathon of Queer Eye was on this morning and then it was those Miami chicks so I changed the channel.

      • http://viridianpostcard.blogspot.com/ viridian61

Missed it! Have to work for a living. I’ll be watching here in the Midwest, drinking the newly christened middle aged mom’s kiss ( boxed white, Chardonnay in my case).

    • Karen Clark

I was rooting for Bradon all season, but after seeing his collection on your site–meh. Will love Dom to win.

    • Stubenville

Watching the rerun from last week. I missed that Helen based her collection on “clairvoyance.” Hmmm… she should have known that she’d get aufed.

      • Eric Stott

Her stuff wasn’t the worst I’ve seen but overall it had no impact – the only memorable piece was the red dress- and just because it was RED

        • Sarah

It was also worlds better without that lame clear belt on, and it was so weird that she constructed a dress with that shape and then tried to obscure it. She hath no sense.

          • Call me Bee

I suspected it last week, but now I know. I love you, Sarah!

            • Sarah

Thanks! I esteem you as well, Bee!

      • Pennymac

Was it my imagination, or was Dom’s “Oh, No!” edited out?

        • PastryGoddess

          it was…

    • Cele Deemer

Watching last week’s rerun also. I am reminded how much I dislike Alexandria. She gives me the heebie jeebies.

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

But, but, but… what about the children? Actually, Camp Couture is a fabulous idea…

    • BelleBook

I would agree that Bradon is the first one to get da boot. His collection was the most disappointing for me. Besides, Heidi will defend Alexandria over him any day.

Alexandria was lucky Heidi fought for her because she’d be doing a decoy collection otherwise. But not even Heidi will be able to help her beat Dom or Justin.

Now this is the tough part. I personally think Dom should win. She was better than Justin over much of the season and I think the judges will take this into account. However, Justin had a great final collection and he’s deaf, which makes for a great narrative. Unfortunately, he was also the one who was eliminated but spared due to Tim Gunn using his save.

I’m guessing … Dom but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Justin.

      • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

I guess I’m in the minority here. I still see Bradon as the best designer. Maybe I should take another look at his collection. When I look at the whole season, both Bradon and Dom had their shit together. I think each one of them was still pinning their models together before a show but they never took their frustrations out on others, and usually, they seemed to know what they were doing. I was happy to see Helen eliminated because she didn’t mind draining the others and she was too immature to win. I think Justin was lucky he wasn’t eliminated the second time. He has talent though. He is perhaps more methodical than the others and his process takes longer. I think Alexandria has a strong point of view but two or three of her looks during the season should have gotten her eliminated. Instead, the judges skated her right through to Limbo, the holding room between best and worst, so no one got a good look at what she did. This makes me think she could win because someone seemed to be looking out for her (Heidi).

    • Stubenville

Tough call on the winner. I’ll go out on a limb and say it won’t be Justin or Bradon. I think it will be Dom or Alexandria. Not that I think Alexandria deserves it, but I’m pretty confident she’s Heidi’s favorite.

      • Eric Stott

Bradon has a lot of uncertainty in his work, and I can’t think of much in his work that’s particularly individual- no Signature Piece.

        • Call me Bee

And I feel the same about Justin’s. In recollecting his season, I just remember a lot of black clothing, questionable fitting and some shabby execution.

          • Eric Stott

Some interesting ideas, poorly executed. That flowing embroidered signature was attractive – but hardly anything original.

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Wait! There’s a fashion blogger hawking Tampex? When do TLo get their promo spot??!?!

    • sunsetwalker

I only care about Dom and the Gin and Henny i will be gulping to get through this shit show

    • Stubenville

Just saw the commercial for Milion Dollar Shoppers – gotta watch it. I caught an episode and it’s a complete train wreck, especially when they get to the clients trying stuff on. Did I mention the cross dressing shopper with two days of stubble wearing vintage Chanel?

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

AH! That show sucked me in last week before I had a chance to put my shields up. It was crazyballsamazing. In the worst/best possible way.

      • Call me Bee

Yes! Saw it last week–grimacing the whole time.

        • Lisa_Co

I found them all so utterly unlikable. No way I am watching them again.

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Saw last week and also got sucked in. Looking forward to watching America’s Most Passive-Aggressive Millionairess (that’s the name I’ve given her and I have no idea who she is) in full-flung mode. I totally heart Barbet (it takes two packs a day plus a bourbon neat at night to get that voice) and want her to be my new best friend. I want to love Gregg Asher but she was working my gay nerve. Will revisit and judge afresh tonight…

    • GillianHolroyd

Waving a small flag for Alexandria.

Not because she’s Heidi favorite, I mean, she is but I don’t think that will be the deciding factor. She had the most cohesive collection overall. Okay, maybe a little too cohesive, I wish she’d ventured a long dress at least.

Justin, he certainly benefited from being away from the reality show deadline drama but I didn’t like the fabric he used which made all his garments look stiff and boxy. I didn’t think the 3D jewellery complemented his designs, mostly it fought with the necklines.

Dom, I expected more from her. Disliked her own prints which looked very faded in the photos. I like the dress she’s wearing above more than anything in her collection.

Braden, I thought he would win it all but I think the shiny prints he chose were too old-fashioned, as was his own tulip print. I loved that first gown but the last gown would’ve gotten him auf’d.

      So I’m back to Alexandria.

    • BuffaloBarbara

Nina sang for you? Love it.

I hope it’s Dom for the win (and in a show of support, I believe I will pop open a bottle of pretend Dom).

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

      I predict Dom.

    • Eric Stott

Will we get 20 minutes of recap?

    • Lisa_Co

BTW, for those looking for a new (and hopefully more real) TV fashion fix, the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund competition will be broadcast on the Ovation channel beginning in November. It’s title is “The Fashion Fund” and DVF and Wintour, herself, will be judges. There will supposedly be 6 episodes.

      • MilaXX

Thanks for the info. Just set a reminder to check this out.

      • Winter_White

Back around 2005 I happened to catch the documentary Seamless (which followed the designers in that competition) on TV, and LOVED it. Which made me think maybe I should look in on that new reality TV series I’d heard about…”Project Runway.” :) Don’t even know if we get the Ovation channel, but I’ll definitely look for it! Thanks so much for mentioning this, Lisa Co.

        • Lisa_Co

Your welcome Winter. I’m just sad that despite protests, Time Warner Cable dropped Ovation last December.

      • Stubenville

    • Eric Stott

I’ll be looking to see how completely Ken is edited out of the finale

      • MilaXX

Easy peasy since they already pretend the decoys don’t exist.

      • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

Maybe Ken won’t show up. I wonder if we’ll see some eye-rolling from him. Now, there is one handsome, even pretty man, when his face is relaxed and he hasn’t left “Good Ken” in the restroom.

    • Qitkat

I really hope Dom is the winner, but I won’t be too pained if it is Justin, with Dom second. But nothing surprises me anymore, and since I can only virtually drink, I can’t dull the pain. It’s the most fun just to hang out with y’all.

    • GillianHolroyd

Oh, wait, reunion show? Helen promised fireworks. When is that?

      • Eric Stott

They’ve been skipping the traditional reunion shows, last I recall was a very tightly scripted “Behind the Seams”

      • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

Plus I love her Blade Runner retro-futurism inspiration.

      I’VE GOT HONEY WHISKEY!

That does sound interesting, Is it similar to mead? Mr. C has some of that in the fridge from a wine festival we went to this summer.

Mine is Wild Turkey brand (though I prefer Jack Daniel’s take on Honey Whiskey) – I’ve never had mead but it’s very honey flavored. It’s smooth, which is nice.

        I’ve got whiskey, hunny!

      • MilaXX

The flip side of that is people thinking Justin got a pity win because of his hearing impairment.

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Yeah that’s probably/hopefully why he won’t win. He’ll get the stiff-upper-lipped runnerup “I did my best and I got this far and there’s no shame in that.” Which is fine, even if his designs are boring.

lol Those were my thoughts exactly.

      • Pennymac

        Jinx (again)

    • Pennymac

      Tim said Janky! Ha!

    • PastryGoddess

      Tim said janky!

      • Pennymac

        Jinx!

        • PastryGoddess

          triple jinx

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

On a sidenote, I’m so happy to be here in time for TLounge. I missed my fellow PUFs!

    • Stubenville

      “Janky” Tim?

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Sigh. Justin made “Department Store Clothes” with funky jewelry. I do like the 3D printed jewelry though.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Also LOL of course Alexandria doesn’t know what the judges want; they praise in Justin what they critique in her.

    • Cheryl

Hey, what’s the deal with the “librarian”? We can be sexy, too.

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

is this show harboring an anti-librarianite bias?

        • Cheryl

Yes, you’re either a librarian or a sexy secretary.

          • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

I believe that’s covered under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Let me call this sexy reference desk guy I know and I’ll get back to you…

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

But Tim said “no offense” so…..

        • Angela_the_Librarian

I think Tim’s Mother was a librarian, so he probably felt compelled to add the “no offense”

      • Aidan B

Right?! I was pretty stylish in my years as a librarian! All two of them…

      • Targettaste

Well at least you’re not one of those ever frumpy teachers.

    • blondie65

      JANKY!! New favorite word.

    • PastryGoddess

      Sew and cry…sew and cry

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

YOU CAN CRY, BUT YOU BETTER CRY AND CUT
        I miss Shatangi.

      • Eric Stott

Being picky here, but it was “You can cry, but you’re gonna cry and cut!”

        • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

          Saucy and picky!

        • PastryGoddess

not picky at all. she wasn’t cutting and crying so I picked a different verb that’s all

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

oh gosh! I’m always misplacing my bag of zippers too…

    • MilaXX

Is Tm hinting at how the judges screwed Mondo by choosing Gretchen?

      • blondie65

        Yep. God Bless Tim.

      • otterbird

        Yes. NEVER FORGET.

    • Cheryl

Did Nina really say, “dumb t-shirt”? I know she said tank top – did she make that comment off-camera? What a dumb thing for her to say.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Oh now that we are in commercials – I know some of the other Bitter Kittens were super sympathetic when I was super stressed, so I should finally announced that I PASSED THE FLORIDA BAR! Next stop: NY Bar. Oof.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        CONGRATS!!!!

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

          THANKS!!

      • Call me Bee

Excellent! We had no doubts. :)

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

          Thankyou!

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

        WOo hoo!

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

          Thanks!

      • Pennymac

Wow! How awesome are you? Congrats!
(I’ve never passed a bar in my life)

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

          Thanks!
(It’s a bar exam because you drink heavily afterward, haha!)

      • Cheryl

Yesss! New York has the best bars. (Kidding. Mazel tov.)

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

          Truth! Teehee.

      • broke&fashionable

Ahhhh so exciting! I’m waiting for NY too and after being in denial for so long can’t believe that it’s coming soon.

      • Munchkn

Congratulations, Gaby!! We BKs can all celebrate that tonight regardless of who wins PR.

      • formerlyAnon

        YAAAAY!
What’s with multiple states? Job shopping or planning for a job requiring multi-state operations and eventual world domination?

      • EveEve

Good on ya! Didn’t realize they announced so early. Go get ‘em in NY!

    • Call me Bee

I love the de-constructed sweater that Alexandria is wearing…

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

How far is the nth degree from here?

    • Courtney

That skirt looks like it’s about to fall right off the model.

    • Eric Stott

Alexandra’s statement Piece is another napkin dress.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I’m glad Bradon can at least tell it’s a “thing” because my first thought was “OH GOD WHAT IS THAT THING”

      • Pennymac

I just heard that as a quote from the Princess Bride. Although I think it was “DEAR GOD, WHAT IS THAT THING?”

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

      Justin’s making a diaper?

    • otterbird

I never tire of that Tide commercial because it enabled me to win an argument with my husband- I insisted that Men Without Hats were not a one hit wonder because I remembered “Pop Goes the World” being a hit. Minor hit compared to the inescapability that was “The Safety Dance,” but a hit nonetheless. He insisted it didn’t count. Then when it showed up in the Tide commercial, he conceded. Why its use in a detergent commercial would elevate it in his mind, I do not know, but one takes marital victories where one gets them.

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

I had no idea that was Men Without Hats…

        • otterbird

Well, the Tide version is a cover (it doesn’t quite attain the magnificent 80′s cheese that was the original), but yeah, it was a single for Men Without Hats.

          • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

oh yes… I played the heck out of the single I had of Safety Dance. That came out the summer before senior year of high school and I thought it was the most ironic and stylish and absolutely perfect song I’d ever heard.

            • otterbird

I remember taking a road trip with my cousin the summer The Safety Dance was big and him saying that at any given moment, we could find a radio station on the dial that was playing it. And he was right.

            • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

LOL! I had no idea about that… Seriously! I lived in Lubbock, TX, and only the Texas Tech campus station (which was actually quite amazing) was playing it. There were so many big hits of the early 80s that never got playtime on commercial so-called Top 40 radio in Lubbock.

            • otterbird

In the mid-Atlantic, you could not escape the song. I loved it, but you really could not get away from it.

            • formerlyAnon

It was SO danceable that it was practically a command to dance. Which was enough to justify its popularity with me.

      • formerlyAnon

Your ability to notice & follow up when you heard the Tide commercial is awesome. I never catch those opportunities.

        • otterbird

In all fairness, it was my husband who mentioned it. I give him big props for that.

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Has anyone noticed that Billy B (sp?) has nasty ugly hands that look dirty. I’m sure he’s actually a lovely person, but I wouldn’t want those hands in or on my face. Other places yes, but not my face.

      • PastryGoddess

Can you wear gloves while holding a crack pipe?

        • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

if one can, one should. everyone knows this!

          • PastryGoddess

I think I need to look into a patent

      • BrooklynBomber

Maybe they’re covered with make up??

        • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

That’s what I thought at first but the closer I looked, the less it appeared that way… Could be…

          • BrooklynBomber

I didn’t see. But let’s hope that’s all it is.

      • Eric Stott

He always looks as if 15 minutes before he got out of someone’s bed and threw on what ever was on the floor.

        • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

It is a hot look, just more for a different genre of show, shall we say…

          • Eric Stott

He doesn’t look hot, he looks skeevey

            • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

              You say tomato…

    • CitizenLame

uh oh Alexandria has Ya as a model..

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        She brings the Magic.

    • MilaXX

I worry that Alexandria is taking the spit up approach to her collection. She just keeps churning out pieces in hopes that she can find something that sparks the judges hearts. It feel a bit unfocused to me.

      • Stubenville

Surely the judges will like something.

        • MilaXX

          Exactly.

      • Qitkat

Back to your earlier question, another damning point.

        • MilaXX

and Top Chef survives after having a physical assault occur on camera and having a challenge where the chefs had to ski cross country, and chop their ingredients out of blocks of ice.

      • guest2visits

Yes, she has a million pieces; but I feel they are just that – pieces, more like accessories.
She can only show so many looks, though.

    • Eric Stott

I am impressed thal Alexandria is such a quick sewer

    • Jacquelyn

      No. No gather ’round.

      • Courtney

I feel like the Sad Chimes of Doom from Amazing Race should be playing.

    • Jacquelyn

      You’re showing at Lincoln Center!

(so is everyone else. But FAKE IT GUYS)

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I’ve noticed that more often they say “Competing at Lincoln Center!”

Also I work next to Bryant Park now so it makes me sad it’s not there anymore.

      • MilaXX

Reminds me of when my cousin graduated and my aunt didn’t like the picture of him walking up to get his diploma so after the ceremony she made him fake walk up again so she could get a better picture. We laugh every time we look at the photo.

        • wontons

I’ve known of wedding pictures like that. “Here’s where Joan pretended to say ‘I do’ to Chumley,” etc. Ugggh.

    • PastryGoddess

I’m getting sick and tired of Alexandrias waterlogged voice. Suck. It. Up

    • Joe J

I feel like Justin could have taken the 3D pieces and made them a little more crazy and editorial. They’re very nice, but they don’t make me as excited about the technology as I think I could be. My reaction is “that’s kinda cool” and I want to be “*gasp* HOLY SHIT”

    • Eric Stott

      This p[age is SLOOOOOW

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I think we push Disqus to its limited limits.

        • Cheryl

          I think Disqus is drunq.

          • Eric Stott

            I refreshed and it helped

            • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

              :-)

          • Courtney

As we are so should Disqus be.

        • Qitkat

Do you think there is this kind of live commenting on any other show?

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I dunno. I know on fb the previously on sons of anarchy page is rapid fire postings as it airs. But not sure about other blogged about shows.

    • Courtney

The Simpsons on PR All Stars? Really?

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

        Jinx!

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Marge Simpson on PR All Stars?!?!?!

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

UGH is anyone else dreading All Stars?

      • Eric Stott

        I’ll watch it for Korto

        • Courtney

Much though I love Korto, part of me is a little sad that she’s back again.

          • PastryGoddess

This is her 3rd time on PR and she’s been on AOTL.

She’s had so much feedback and opportunity. I wonder what’s going on in her head

            • Courtney

Same. At some point maybe it’s time to grapple with the idea that fashion stardom through PR may not be your path?

            • PastryGoddess

And that maybe you have to do something different. clearly what she’s doing is not working.

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Is she back?! I didn’t notice her. I hope she finally wins – she was robbed last time.

      • Joe J

Mizrahi + “What makes you so GOOD?” = my eyelid twitching.

Not really marking my calendar for that.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Yes. I think of it as PR: Also Rans now, as they seem desperate enough to drag in anyone who has ever appeared on the show. Granted, we have Korto, Seth Alan and Jeff Sebelia back this goround, but the idea of spending Thursdays with Miz. MIzrahi is not enticing…then again, I do get to spend that time with my fellow PUF’s and BK’s!

    • MilaXX

OMG are the All Stars going to design for cartoons?

      • Eric Stott

        They designed for Miss Piggy…

        • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

And she survived. So will Marge.

        • Courtney

In a strange way that almost made sense. Not in the making clothes for a puppet sense, but in the sense that Miss Piggy is a character with a defined style and a love of clothes. The Simpsons have worn the same outfits for 25 years.

      • PastryGoddess

They’ve already designed for muppets so why not cartoons

      • Angela_the_Librarian

I was planning on skipping All Stars, but I just may need to watch a Simpsons themed episode!

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        As one does.

      • blondie65

        Is nothing sacred???

      • alula_auburn

Hey, what Marge did with that Chanel suit and her sewing machine was pretty impressive. . .

        • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

          She made it work!

    • PastryGoddess

      Gabby for the win

    • Qitkat

All Stars next week! I don’t know if I can do it.

      • Pennymac

You know how you feel when you gorge on your kids Halloween candy? Yeah, that. Over. It.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

is there a lounge? that’s the only way i’d consider. i love my Thurs nights.

    • BrooklynBomber

I’m not going to be watching the All Stars. Haven’t watched any yet, but the vibe just looks all wrong.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

One of the Million Dollar Shoppers looks like a rich bitch version of Tina Fey, amiright?

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        those bitches are scary looking

      • PastryGoddess

I was thinking an overly leathered version of Tina Fey.

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Well that too but I didn’t want to be too mean ;)

        • Stubenville

          But it’s Gucci leather.

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Her name is Barbet and I am in love with her!! I want to find out how many packs she has to smoke a day to get that voice. And I want her to be my new best friend.

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

She does seem to have a touch of Tina’s wit too. Lucky rich bitch.

          • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Oh, I suspect Tina is vastly wealthier than Babet. I imagine she has a shoebox of an apartment on the upper west side that is rent controlled and that she keeps most of her garments in a storage unit on the West Side Highway.

    • Angela_the_Librarian

      I love Dom’s D pin!

    • Eric Stott

      Bradon’s Jinx is in

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        who the fuk feeds models???

        • PastryGoddess

you have to dissolve your adderal in something

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

            cheers.

    • Stubenville

      I detest the phonebook dress.

      • PastryGoddess

the more I look at it the angrier I get. I’m not sure why since it didn’t DO anything to me

      • Call me Bee

It’s not aesthetic pleasing, but it did have a wow factor.

        • wontons

As in “Wow, I can’t believe an adult would send that down a runway!”?

Seriously, though, I like the shape and length of the skirt. I guess I wish it wasn’t so obviously made of cheap paper.

    • Jacquelyn

      TIDE to the rescue????

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

        Oh yes! THIS!!

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

        OH GOD

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        sweet jeesus.

      • Pennymac

        OMG you’re right.

      • alula_auburn

It all comes together! If only it had been a Yoplait.

      • Angela_the_Librarian

They should have supplied each designer with a Tide pen!

        • BuffaloBarbara

How could Tide have missed this opportunity? (Unless, of course, the product would have wrecked the fashion, which would make it an extremely bad commercial!)

          • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

TIDE hits the runway — The commercial that must never be seen!

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

      Coffee spillage!!!!!

    • dschubba

Hi BKs! I’m back for the finale.

      • PastryGoddess

        HI!

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

WHY ARE THE MODELS EATING ON THE FLOOR RIGHT THERE? Were they bribed by the producers? I’ve NEVER seen that on the show before (NEVER BEFORE IN THE HISTORY OF… You get it.)

      • Eric Stott

They haven’t eaten all week so they need some caffein to keep moving

        • artjournallife

Can’t they find a source of CLEAR caffiene?

      • Stubenville

A cigarette burn is the more likely scenario.

      • Cheryl

I want to meet the model who made this (spill).

        • MilaXX

          comments are made of win!

      • Pennymac

So they can sell more Tide?

        • CitizenLame

          yes

    • Qitkat

No rules about no coffee backstage? Stupid!

      • pippitypup

Instead of coffee, they should just let her have her usual breakfast of cocaine lite (she’s gotta stay slim, doncha know).

    • PastryGoddess

    • artgirl9

      Wait. Models EAT?

      • Pennymac

Biting my tongue to keep from saying what I’m thinking.

    • NDC_IPCentral

How unprofessional of the models to bring beverages into the fitting/dressing area, such close quarters! I do feel for Bradon.

And I postponed the sauerkraut and sausage effort to tomorrow….

      • Cheryl

        I blame Ken.

        • NDC_IPCentral

          Made me laugh, Cheryl!

    • guest2visits

I feel for Bradon’s coffee stain dilemma. I noticed a lot of spots on the still pics for ALL the designer’s work this season.

      • CitizenLame

        Tide to the rescue..

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

do you need that much purple makeup on to eat chips?

      • PastryGoddess

        I’m an Utz girl

        Lays are meh

        • bitchybitchybitchy

Another Utz gal here….although, Heer’s crab chips are to die for.

      • Stubenville

        Yes and reptilian contact lenses.

    • Jacquelyn

Is it possibly for Zac to ever look older than 12?

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Oh yes. The portrait is in an upstairs closet.

        • PastryGoddess

          I love you

      Spot T Lo!

      • PastryGoddess

        jinx

    • Eric Stott

Who’s the makeup queen behind Justin’s dad?

    • PastryGoddess

was that TLo in the audience

    • Courtney

First three looks are very similar, no?

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Everything has already blurred together in Justin’s collection.

    • Stubenville

      PornStache sighting!

    • CitizenLame

      hello Mr Jay

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Her dress is, um, flowing. Like needles flowing down a river of silk.

    • OrigamiRose

Is it my imagination or is more than half the audience at the runway show now made up of former PR contestants?

      • Eric Stott

        and fame whores

        • OrigamiRose

          There’s a difference? :)

One is a subset of the other. You can be a fame whore without being a former dresstesstant.

            • OrigamiRose

              Ah, touche ;)

            • Eric Stott

I suspect there are a lot of nobodies who get in because they look fabulous.

            • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Kind of like who got in to clubs in Manhattan in the 80s

            • formerlyAnon

Or because there’s not exactly hot demand in the fashion industry for seats at the PR Finalists Plus Mobs of Decoys! Show.

      Somehow it’s sort of hospital-y.

    • alula_auburn

I didn’t care enough to look at the collections before and I was out of the country the past two weeks, yet I don’t feel I missed much. Except whatever the hair is about.

    • Stubenville

Justin – not bad but not stellar.

    • CitizenLame

      i think she wins

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

        agree

    • MilaXX

Not feeling Justin’s ratty boots. It’s the designers equivalent to when the male celebs dress like they came from Home Depot on the RC.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

That purple pattern really does remind me of Vincent though.

      • Pril Wood

agreed. Thought that when I saw the stills.

    • Joe J

I was afraid the last model in Justin’s unconventional dress was going to faceplant.

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

I was afraid the dress was going to create a visible static discharge

      • MilaXX

I think because she was walking so very straight. Her walk actually took away from the dress, but I’m not sure if she could do it any different.

        • Courtney

He did say before that he wanted a very straight walk with minimal hip action.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

      Great styling on Dom’s!

    • BrooklynBomber

      Dom is so cute.

    • Joe J

      UGH. Bad peplum.

      • Eric Stott

Lots of overworked pieces…and Dom’s dress looks like Helen designed it

    • Call me Bee

Nope. Justin’s collection is a bit boring. No color and ill-fitting. Sorry. No likey. (I’ve not seen it before…)

    • Stubenville

Wow – loving Dom’s. The clear plastic is very Fifth Element.

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

        very JPG

        • Stubenville

          Exaaaaactly,

      • MilaXX

Spot on since Bladerunner was her inspiration.

    • alula_auburn

LOL, with the color I feel like that moment in the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy opens the door to munchkinland. COLORS EXIST!

    • Courtney

I’m enjoying Zac’s intensity as he leans forward. He’s verging on crazy eyes, there.

    • CitizenLame

dom’s looks like been washed 50x

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I’d wear Dom’s Tide Look to work.

    • PastryGoddess

take off that neckline from the tide look and you have a winner

    • Call me Bee

God who are those wackos int he second row. Ail white mohawks and pheasant feathers.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I LOVE IT I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU THINK YOU’RE NOT MY MOM (I do actually love it, I’m just tipsy and dramatic)

        • PastryGoddess

you should totally go to court tipsy and dramatic. I’d watch that :)

          • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

            HA!

    • dschubba

Heidi nodding at that exposed ass is killing me.

    • Call me Bee

      OK. Dom for the WIN!

    • In_Stitches

I really disliked Dom’s in stills, but it came alive on the runway.

    • OrigamiRose

Loved Zac nudging Heidi at the bare-butt dress. “That’s so you!”

      • Stubenville

        ^1,000

          don’t you mean, x 10000000?

    • Angela_the_Librarian

Wow, it’s going to be hard to beat Dom!

      • OrigamiRose

I’ve been pulling for Justin but I don’t see a way they can’t give it to Dom. It was stunning.

        • Angela_the_Librarian

If it goes to Justin or Dom I’ll be happy

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

I envy Bradon for having a wonderful first career, and he’s an extremely confident person. I think he’s leaps and bounds ahead of the others. However, Dom is only 24. I hope she can continue her design career. She has kept her composure. Actually, these last four are decent, nice people. I love the above photo (video still) of Alexandria because she has seemed a little cold at times and she is tearing up. I think it will be Bradon, then Dom, Alexandria and Justin. There is no way that Justin should win. Alexandria has the strongest point of view, which I only like some of the time.

I’m looking forward to the show.

    • BrooklynBomber

Eek my browser and Disqus are not getting along tonight.
Anyway, I feel like I never want to buy any Tide products ever again. (Except Tide to Go, which is a necessity.)

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Someone I know via my Austin music connections says that there will be a lot of cray-cray on Chasing Nashville.

    • NDC_IPCentral

Justin is a very gracious man. Whatever the result, I do wish him much success.

Rats, my fluky TV turned off at the beginning of Dom’s showing. I got some Anya vibes. Not as innovative as Justin’s collection.

    • Cheryl

From TLo’s Twitter: “That wasn’t the music played during the show.”

      • wontons

Did the show have “real” music to which PR couldn’t get broadcast rights?

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

“OF COURSE” Somebody had to say it.

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

      OK — that’s a Yoplait commercial I can enjoy.

    • PastryGoddess

Why does Lifetime suck sooooooo hard?

    • BuffaloBarbara

Not nuts about the clear plastic on Dom’s, but still great.

I actually really enjoyed Justin’s collection — very beautiful, and easy to wear except for the pipette dress. And now that I’ve seen the vest on his Tide look, I have the final piece for my paper doll Mindy-Kaling-at-the-storytelling-conference look. Pop that baby over a peasant blouse, and it’s perfection.

      • martha

There should totally be a paper doll Mindy Kaling!

    • Wellworn

Love Dom’s collection! It reminds me of growing up in Los Angeles in the 70s, and what the cool people wore. I was not one of the cool people unfortunately.

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

        I really like that description.

        • Wellworn

          Thanks!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I think I’m going to sit this one out. I’d love to see Dom win, but I don”t trust the judges or the Bunim/Murray gremlins

    • PastryGoddess

      Alexandria is a potato

      • OrigamiRose

Don’t give the producers any idea for future season tie-ins. I can hear it now: “Designers, this season we have partnered with the Idaho Potato Commission, the finest purveyor of information about potatoes in the world. This week’s challenge requires you to peel a thousand potatoes, and incorporate the skin into a garment to be worn on the red carpet…. You have one day to complete this challenge.”

        • PastryGoddess

          God that would be horrible

          • OrigamiRose

And yet not outside the realm of possibility anymore…

        • In_Stitches

With purple potatoes and sweet potatoes, they’d have quite the pallet, but surely the idaho potato lobby would shut down anything outside their typical brown.

          • artjournallife

Yes, they would be constrained to brown, and the judges would complain about the lack of color…

            • Eric Stott

One of the designers will sneak in some red potatoes & there will be a SCANDAL

        • artjournallife

Well, we already did a potato sack dress challenge…

    • SouthernGirlRena

After 12 seasons of Project Runway, I’ve finally discovered the secret to really enjoying the finale. I thought it was alcohol but it is really Ben and Jerry’s Coffee Heath Bar Crunch. It is impossible to be anything but happy while shoveling it in with a large spoon.

      • MilaXX

        mmmm, ice cream.

        • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

          my precise thought!

      • Pril Wood

I’m enjoying fried chicken and pumpkin pie, but pie ala mode would be good too…

      • Courtney

I do have some brownies in the kitchen that are demanding attention. Maybe a bit of ice cream is not out of order with them…

      • EveEve

I’m sticking with straight up chocolates.

      • artjournallife

If we lobby to get Ben and Jerry’s as a sponsor, can we get free ice cream? AND maybe I could deal with meeting the cow that made THAT!

    • MilaXX

I like the idea of the phone book dress, but it looks so heavy and clunky going down the runway.

    • Courtney

I refuse to believe that some of that washable look is washable.

      • Stubenville

Yes, but only in unicorn tears.

        • Courtney

          Only sustainable ones.

    • Stubenville

Alexandria’s clothes look like the Nieman Marcus punk collection… in depressing neutrals.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

        I see that.

      • Eric Stott

Cracktastic hats…but crazy hair and headpieces seem to be on all the runways so maybe she’s spot on.

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

        “Neiman Marcus” == “Depressing neutrals”

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I like the hand on the hip detail.

    • dschubba

God, I hate those booties. Why does everyone keep using them?

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

        BELK

    • MilaXX

goodness she got weepy towards the end.

    • PastryGoddess

      was that a wig?

    • alula_auburn

      Nina looks bored.

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

“OH God! Oh God! Nina looks bored!! Someone do something!!!!”

      • OrigamiRose

Esquire re-ran Season Three today and I just loved when Tim admonished the final four, “DON’T BORE NINA!”

    • Stubenville

“I have to win” – edit of doom. She won’t.

    • CitizenLame

      have not seen that LBD

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      so much oatmeal.

    • Call me Bee

IDK now. Alexandria’s collection is very high fashion and euro-chic. She may win.

      • blondie65

I agree. Seeing her collection move, I would agree with her winning. And she was my last choice for the win of Dom, Braden & Justin.

    • NDC_IPCentral

TYPICAL TERRIBLE CAMERA WORK for the finale!

Lifetime, we want to see the clothes!

      • BrooklynBomber

No, we don’t. We want to see people throwing tantrums and talking trash. Plus as much product placement as possible.

        • NDC_IPCentral

Wishing sure doesn’t make it so, does it, girlfriend?

    • EveEve

Nina really doesn’t like Alexandria -she didn’t even clap at the end of her runway show.

      • Cheryl

I’ll have to re-watch, but don’t forget this is highly edited. In real life the designers were taped at a different time.

    • dschubba

Were they required to have an unconventional look in their final collections?

      • PastryGoddess

        yes

    • Call me Bee

And I can see that Bradon’s is filled with old lady clothes.

      • Eric Stott

        first gown is HIDDY

        • NDC_IPCentral

Truly. A sad Disney princess doll gown.

          • Eric Stott

Looiks as if it could be the Tide challenge – looks the same coming out of the washer as it does going in.

        • Call me Bee

The *only* thing I liked were the floral pants with the border fabric. Those were beautiful.

        • alula_auburn

I might have enjoyed it on my Barbie when I was six. . .although maybe not in that nonentity color.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I like Alexandria’s headpieces, at least. Still Dom FTW.

    • Joe J

      Skirt. Hideous.

    • Eric Stott

      FLORAL HOT PANTS

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

      HATES IT.

    • Courtney

There’s a lot of Impressionist fashion happening in this collection – it gets better the further away you get.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

        You’re saying it’s a bit of a Monet?

        • PastryGoddess

          WIN!

        • Courtney

Something like that, yes. Or maybe Turner.

      • Eric Stott

Yeah- from Albany it looks sensational

    • NDC_IPCentral

Ooooh, Bradon, shiny, shiny. Looks chip, chip.

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Satin floral print last seen in Miami Beach in 1980

      • dschubba

Lies. Blanche Devereaux just wore it on TV last night.

      • PastryGoddess

I saw it in Boca last year

    • In_Stitches

I’m liking Bradon’s a lot more than in stills…that one bold, multi-hued floral print that punctuates his collection is doing most of the work, but it’s a great print. HIs violet print on white however is straight up ugly.

    • BrooklynBomber

Eek. That’s a lot of shiny. I do like the some of the prints, though. But I’m surprised by this collection.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I feel like these all look like dancer costume clothes. I love those floral pants though.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

And that blue dress made from the same material.

    • Call me Bee

      Squeeeeee! Just saw Casenova!

      • In_Stitches

His inspiration is Bradon’s gold hot pants? Or in the audience.

    • Eric Stott

Bradon’s boyfriend doesn’t know what to make of it all

      • Cheryl

Bradon’s boyfriend is a 19th century Russian novelist.

        • Eric Stott

          with consumption?

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

Cross-promotion! There’s Gregg Asher, the hot mess who will be on your TV in 31 minutes!

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Dom’s and Bradon’s had so much heart. Some real highs and lows.
Alexandria’s was a clear design idea.
Justin’s was interesting but essentially boring.

      • ShaoLinKitten

Interesting but boring? I though the crotches on his pants were too bunchy. I didn’t like his collection at all. The white blotches looked accidental, like the model stomped in a puddle of white paint.

    • alula_auburn

Was Alyssa Milan wearing a hi-visibility vest?

Ugh, the reunions. We can’t miss you if you never go away, Project Runway.

      • Stubenville

I thought the same thing – “Why is there a garbage collector in the audience?”

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

“What if no one sees me on TV tonight? I KNOW…”

    • Stubenville

Is Insane in the Ukraine in Allstars?

OH PLEASE YES. I actually did like her work in the end.

        • Aidan B

          Yeah that’s definitely her!

        • ShaoLinKitten

Her decoy finale collection was THE BOMB. I loved it more than I’ve loved anyone’s actual finale collection since… Seth Aaron? Maybe. And I kinda secretly loved her too. I might watch All-Stars if she’s on it.

    • OhSayNow

If I Never hear that Pop Goes the World song again, I’ll be happy.

I like all of them, but want Dom to win so bad! Bradon’s showed really well though.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

        ME TOO

    • notdorothygale

I have struggled to stay interested in this latest manifestation of PR yet this runway show is better than those of the past few years. Dom FTW.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Oh what the hell, they’re praising his subtlety. THEY NEVER PRAISE SUBTLETY.

    • Nancy

Are they giving him the “we liked it but we didn’t love it” speech?

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

        Why yes, yes they are.

      • Eric Stott

        damming with faint praise

      • ShaoLinKitten

Right up there with “it’s not you, it’s me” as a pre-dump convo starter.

    • OrigamiRose

Of course, Heidi liked the shiny material.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        bless

    • Stubenville

Bradon’s is shiny. Of course Heidi likes it.

    • PastryGoddess

      Nina for the Kill

      • Courtney

That would be an awesome name for a band.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Pffft she’s so vanilla right now compared to prior seasons.

        • PastryGoddess

true, but this is this the first time in in a long time we’ve heard her be so forceful with her critques

    • BrooklynBomber

What were Bradon’s unconventional materials? What did he use?

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

That’s what I was wondering. Looks like fabric to me.

        • Pennymac

          Yes^^ Anyone?

      • notdorothygale

        That.

        • BrooklynBomber

I meant what materials did he use?

          • OrigamiRose

            I don’t think anyone’s figured that out…

      • SouthernGirlRena

        Wasn’t it a phone book?

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

          That was Alexandria.

    • Nancy

Anyone else think Dom’s print is total Peter Pilotto?

      • PastryGoddess

She would do well to work with him or Mary Kantranzou

    • Eric Stott

Pre 1960′s?- Judy Jetson IS 1960′s!

      • PastryGoddess

        Bless her heart..she’s only 24

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Yeah, I think she meant more Blade Runner’s retro-futurism, which pulls from the 1940s, but she got a little mixed up.

      • ShaoLinKitten

It was so 1960s. But Dom didn’t do well on the quiz show episode where they asked fashion questions…

    • OrigamiRose

Sounded to me like Bradon got the fourth place critique.

    • martha

      What was Braden’s unconventional material?

      • Qitkat

        I have no idea.

    • Joe J

THAT was Bradon’s unconventional dress?!? ZZZZZZzzzzz…

      • ShaoLinKitten

And his washable dress was sooooo lame. I’m disappointed. I liked him so much during this season.

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

      Punk is oatmeal?

    • OrigamiRose

Over/under on Heidi saying ANYthing negative about Alexandria’s collection?

      • Nancy

There’s one designer every season that Heidi loves to the point of ignoring any flaws. This season, it’s Alexandria.

    • Stubenville

The phonebook dress was the worst thing on the runway.

      • OrigamiRose

        But the children made it!

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

CHILD LABOR I AM SHOCKED LIFETIME

        • PastryGoddess

          THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

        • Stubenville

          It looks it,

    • dschubba

I thought that phonebook dress was supposed to look like money.

    • In_Stitches

      Alexandria’s hats are ridiculous.

    • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

What are they doing with Alexandria? Are we being fooled?

      • PastryGoddess

Heidi was the only one who gushed about the collection. Everyone else told her now cool she was

    • PastryGoddess

Nina said a whole lot without actually saying something good about the collection

      • Courtney

That’s always been one one of Nina’s better skills.

      • http://communionoflight.com/ Frank Butterfield

oh, so that’s what was going on…

    • OrigamiRose

Oh Justin, gut punching for the win.

    • Eric Stott

Alexandria’s collection is cohesive and very effective- Nina is right- very editorial

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      “That’s great.” NO> That’s jacked.

    • alula_auburn

Gawd, I hate this beauty-pageant-answer part.

      • OrigamiRose

Especially since they basically answer this question when they say why they should get to show at Fashion Week in the previous episode.

      • wontons

        I agree. It’s so demea–

        Oh, right. I’m watching a Bunim-Murray production.

        Haha – brilliant!

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Ugh weepy music for Bradon as he gets weepy to outpace Justin. I hope they both lose.

    • Cele Deemer

Oh, just suck it up Braden.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I’m sorry, but Bradon is Cam and Mitchel as one man.

      • Aidan B

This comment is PERFECTION I don’t know how I never thought of that! I did notice last week that Bradon’s voice sounds like Mitchell, though.

      • Eric Stott

Oh yes- I’m certain he’s rehearsed those hand positions in the mirror “And don’t forget- I used to be a dancer!”

    • Cele Deemer

        • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m thinking that they will work in a challenge using the plastic canvas and acrylic yarns that were used to produce tissue box covers and other assorted tchotckes in the 70′s.

          • Eric Stott

            That could almost work

STOP WITH THE TEARS! No way to sell yourself or your products, you dresstestants. SHEESH.

Did the producers tell the dresstestants that they’d get a bonus for every boo-hoo??

AND, and interminable 15 minutes for the judges to be sadists and the commercials to bore us to insensibility.

    • AthenaJ

One thing I will not miss are these DAMN YOGURT COMMERCIALS!!!

      • Cele Deemer

I was just thinking the same damn thing.

        “so o o o o g o o o o o d” Aggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!! No more!!!!!!!!!!

    • Nancy

What are they gonna do with 15 minutes left? A last-minute challenge cause there’s a tie?

      • Cele Deemer

Maybe a few more Tide or Yoplait commercials to fill in the minutes.

        • OrigamiRose

“Go run your Tide Pod garment through a cycle and come back out wearing it.”

That’s the best finale group this show’s ever produced, IMO.

    • Stubenville

Boys lose. Dom should win IMO.

    • Cheryl

TLo’s Twitter: “Alexandria’s collection was the best IN OUR HUMBLE OPINION, mind you.”

“BUT we’re rooting for DOM. She’s very talented and we love her : )”

    • PastryGoddess

WHAT. THE. FUQ. DOES YOGURT HAVE TO DO WITH FASHION!

      aaaaaaarggghh

      • Nancy

        skinny people eat it??

    • BuffaloBarbara

Wow — Alexandria’s making an actual argument. Well, it broke down into “I want it most” at the end, but it started out with actual reasons.

I really hate that. What are they supposed to say? Alexandria had the best argument: I know how to run a business. This will do will for the Project Runway brand, if they can get another driven business person like Siriano. But I didn’t like her collection best, so that’s not relevant. (Still thinking they need to have a business mentor on this show. They would do wonders for their brand if their winners didn’t have time to do All-Stars a few years after their wins.)

Anyway, Bradon’s was not aesthetically pleasing. It looked chip in a chip way. He did not make it work. And the shiny material looked like someone’s mother-in-law’s disco ball. Hella nice guy, but the collection was not good.

Alexandria: For what it was, it was good, but I don’t like her aesthetic. And I hate those misshapen pants she favors.

For me, it’s between Dom and Justin, and they’re so very different that it’s hard to make a call. I’ve been pulling for Dom all season and I want her to win, but I found the plastic parts lackluster, and it detracted. I would not be disappointed with a Justin win.

    • OrigamiRose

Wait, it’s ten-twenty and they’re handling garments but ending with a winner at ten-thirty?

      • Stubenville

Perhaps they’ll have the dresstesstants jump through flaming hoops. Or play ten minutes of Yoplait and Lexus commercials.

        • OrigamiRose

Who would sponsor it though? :)

          • PastryGoddess

    • Joe J

I thought for sure Justin would be top 2, at least.

      Also I love Dom’s dress.

      Yay! Yayayayayayayayayay! Philly girl!

    • PastryGoddess

      I….sincerely…mean…that…

    • EveEve

Oh yeah! They got it so right.

    • Angela_the_Librarian

Wow, can’t remember the last time the person I was rooting for won!

    • BPlease

Hm…I’m not sure that I would’ve given the win to Dom. I thought a lot of Dom’s stuff had a ton of proportion issues. Alexandria did a better overall job. And I would buy all of her stuff, if I could afford everything.

      • nosniveling

agree totally tho’ I loved Dom.

        • BPlease

I loved her too, but thought some of Dom’s work was terribly unflattering on the models. Alexandria’s models were lithe and cool-looking, sexy, modern. I only thought that of a couple of Dom’s outfits.

      • swanpride

Still totally dispassionate about this one. None of the final collections blew me away. I’m disappointed with Bradon, though, because he can do much better.

    • Eric Stott

I’m glad Dom won, but I’m glad Alexandria made it so far- I got to like her better in the last episodes.

      • ShaoLinKitten

I agree. I loved her fashion camp. I think she is probably awesome once you get to know her, but her personality comes off strange on TV. I think she will be successful. I like her stuff a lot.

      • Sarah

Yah I never hated her too much. She’s just not super warm. Not her fault, but she didn’t seem like a jerk or anything. And the camp with little dolls, you gotta love that.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I’d like to see Ms. Washington wear some Dom in the immediate future.

      • EveEve

I’d like to see FLOTUS wear her some Dom!

      • BuffaloBarbara

I want to see ME wear some Dom in the immediate future! :D

Seriously, I think those prints will look great and refreshing on the red carpet and the publicity shots. Very eye-catching.

        • Sarah

I’m SAYIN. I all I could think of was this is what the RC needs, man! Prints and Color and FIT!

    • supri_supri

      Ya did good, Project Runway.

    • AthenaJ

Ok, this comes close to making up for Gretchen’s win. YAY DOM!!

      • EveEve

        And Anya, right?

        • AthenaJ

Oh jeez, I forgot about that one… must have mentally blocked it.

    • notdorothygale

      Kleenex for NINA! Stat!

    • Filing_and_giving_things_names

Huh. I’m not angry at a Project Runway finale. How…odd.

    • Stubenville

Radical – a talented, likable designer wins.

    • Cele Deemer

Well, shit. Now I’M all weepy!

      • BrooklynBomber

I know. They got me, too.

    • Pennymac

YaY! seriously! A well deserve win. And Nina cried! (Was that a first in PR History?)

    • Elizabeth Szubert

I’m not angry at who won, I’m angry at who placed second. Does that make any sense at all?

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        Who did you want?

        • Elizabeth Szubert

I really thought that Justin had a better collection over Alexandria. I didn’t expect him to win – I knew Dom was going to after I saw how her stuff moved – but I thought he should have been second.

          • BuffaloBarbara

I agree. I was shocked that Justin wasn’t second. I thought the order was fairly clear.

    • Michelle Wilson

I preferred Alexandria’s collection but it’s probably best she didn’t win and then have to face the wrath of PR fans. I liked Dom’s as well, just not as much.

      • MaisyMcGregor

Right now, a LOT of people thought she should’ve won. I don’t think there would’ve been a lot of wrath.

        • Michelle Wilson

Dom winning made it safe for people to say they like Alexandria. There was an awful lot of “Anyone but Alexandria” in all the comments I read before the final. It was the same last season with Michelle and her win only pushed them over the edge. I don’t understand people who can’t separate the clothes from the personalities.

          • swanpride

What was a little bit odd was that last season Michelle was actually very popular with the other Designers, but she was edited to look as bitchy as possible. This season they did their very best to hide how unpopular Alexandria was.
Not that I mind either way. I think she deserved the finale…I would have been okay with her winning. This time around the four best showed and I would have been okay with each of them taking the prize.

    • supri_supri

Aaaand love Briana too, so whoo hoooooo

    • bitchybitchybitchy

A very pleasant surprise! I’m happy for Dom.

    • Stubenville

      Exsquiz me?

    • In_Stitches

I hope Dom can find some people who can turn her creativity and gumption into profit; she has a pretty great vision that’s easy to see translated in both sports-wear and ‘fashion’.

      • BuffaloBarbara

Couldn’t you just see some of those great prints in casual tops for work? Just over a little black skirt. Yeah. I can see. And I want.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I always wanted to be a stylist. How do I get this job?
Also, this woman looks like Tacky Morticia Addams.

    • CitizenLame

My 2 cents: Dom’s fucking fabrics were lame, Tide washed out, and faded. Muppet went off the deep end, seriously, cupcakes do not a dress make, Justin should have been gone and Alexandria has a heart of gold.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

You thought Dom’s prints were faded? They looked pretty vibrant to me.

      • PastryGoddess

        Well alrighty then….

      • OrigamiRose

Well maybe Lifetime will launch a new competition called Project Heart of Gold, and Alexandria can win that one.

        • PastryGoddess

sustainicorn might put up a fight though

It’s Barbet. (Sorry, she’s the Tina Fey look-a-like. I realized it might have sounded like I was correcting you when I wasn’t.)

Barbet? To be fair, that was a group comprised of a tacky women and preteens.

        • PastryGoddess

Yeah but you don’t storm out in a rage because you’re confronted with people who wouldn’t know good taste even if it bit them on the ass

          • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I don’t think she was in a rage. She seemed more like, “Well CRAP.”

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Well, she’s a bitch to teach her daughters to talk to people in such a condescending manner. But the fact is she brought absolutely nothing she asked for and worse, brought vintage to a nouveau riche bitch who looks to kardashians for fashion tips.

            True.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Barbet makes me so happy. I love her.
Also, Herve Lege doesn’t make floor length, does it? Skin-tight to the floor doesn’t really work. The 12 year old girls kind of nail in the tacky style. Of course they don’t like it, they’re children who don’t know style from cutoffs.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

It’s not even that she has a rockin bod. It’s that she’s “old” and lives in the suburbs.

What stylist would think she was a 2?
eta – she should know what bs the sizes are now. 10 years ago, yes she would have been a 2, but now? please. Fashion is cruel.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Why would you lie to your stylist?

        • Stubenville

People lie about their size to themselves.

      • EveEve

Well, she’s a 2 on top, and frankly, she shouldn’t go with any kind of a deep decolletage.

I LIVE in NYC and I SEE these women all the time and it fills me with RAGE that they have so much and I have so little for all my drive. Sorry, that’s my little venting.

Oh, I know. It’s bad. And in my neighborhood the little music school that’s been there forever is gone, replaced by a Splendid store, and the greengrocers is about to turn into J Crew. But the kind of people on these shows never live in Brooklyn (one exception – a NY housewife).

plunge the neckline, jack up the slits – fab. For her.

    • Annie Lure

Dom did not deserve to win. While I truly appreciate her print-making, I found her silhouettes utterly basic. There was very little variance within the collection. I DID like the transparent additions. I thought their translucency and sculpture served as counterpoints to the streamlined solids. She’s talented, but there’s no way her collection was better than Justin’s or Alexandria’s. I loved Justin’s collection– the 3D printing and his appropriation of it as shoulder- and neck enhancements and belting, the glitter, the digital prints, and of course the masterful use of pipettes on a mesh foundation to emulate fringe (or fur, as he said). However– and this is purely due to my aesthetic preferences– Alexandria is, to me, the winner. Loved the shapes of the jackets/vests. Loved the color palette: black, white, and mauve & lavender. Her style is feminine yet not affectedly so. There’s a seductiveness to what she does. She delivers her pieces with sensual precision and an awareness of physicality.

      • VictoriaDiNardo

Came in late and just finished watching the DVR. I completely agree with you. I thought Alexandria’s collection was the best and I have never understood the criticism of her reserve. I think she’s professional and yet able to blend her artistic vision with a business model. I hope she does well.

        • BPlease

It was a season full of horrid, horrid brats, and those with stealth brat tendencies (Sustainicorn not wanting his model to have makeup. Kate. Etc.) My favorites, personality-wise, were Justin, Bradon, Alexander and Alexandria — excepting Justin, focused professionals in their late 30s. They were there to work, and Alexandria wasn’t there to ‘make friends’ in the way that phrase is truly meant – she was there to try to win. Because she’s a tall Scandinavian former model with a clipped manner, a lot of absurd assumptions were made about her IMO.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

      • EveEve

I have no idea who she is, but the talent people who found her deserve kudos. She’s was the best part of the show. I wonder how many packs a day she smokes.

    • Stubenville

      Thirty thousand bucks of tacky.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I’m with you – I preferred the silver sequins, at least it had a little class for all the bling.

      • EveEve

        the Chanel bag wasn’t tacky

        • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

But it was paired with everything else.

        • Stubenville

True, but I was thinking of the Sparkle Barbie dress with the “girls” one quick turn away from a wardrobe malfunction.

          • EveEve

I’m guessing she does more bending than turning…but she is one tacky package

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

That final dress is soooooo tacky. If it were my mom, I’d be like, “Really, mom?” Of course my mom is like, AAA cup, so it wouldn’t look so vavavoom, but still.

I’ll catch up with all y’all BK’s in the next PR All-Star season.

      • MilaXX

Truthfully, I bail when Scandal comes on and follow here in the TLounge during the commercials. I turn in to see who gets auf’d/won and then go back to Scandal. I watch the rest during the news.

    • guest2visits

Their stories about their lives, and their passion for the work and the art always makes me wish they all would get some type of prize. Especially this group. Going through all this PR crappola should get them SOMEthing.
As much as Alexandria’s style is not really calling out to me…I have to admit it appears to be the most cohesive and it has it’s appeal. I like the neutrals… I like the overall ease, the materials and construction. The slouchy asymmetrical pants, the glove/pocket detail…those are things that do nothing for me. Much of the design is about little pieces, working together, and the overall look has very unified, trendy flavor that I frankly didn’t see in some of the other collections. Alexandria’s styling for her models was also perfection. She couldn’t have done anything else in spite of what Tim was trying to tell her about making a ‘wow’ statement: Alexandria’s style and her collection is simply not about making a wow-statement, it’s about making a cool, understated chicness. And she gave it that distinct label… Except – the UCMaterials dress; demerits for that; it looked like it didn’t fit and it was just an after thought even though it must have taken a lot of time to weave.
Dom’s was right close in second place, for me. I loved her prints and she made some outstanding dresses with them. I disliked the plastic shower-curtain over the purple jumpsuit, and the blue dress with the plastic peplum; even though they appeared to be made impeccably. It didn’t seem to fit in the collection, I agree with Zac; the bathing suit was also a miss. And I especially think her’s was the worst hair styling of the bunch. It aged the look of the collection, it wasn’t very retro or fun. I don’t really blame Dom; I think that was the idea of the PR styling team, and I haven’t been impressed with the make-up or hair that has been coming out of that salon all season. I mean, unless the models are deliberately messing with their looks before they hit the runway; it’s been inconsistent. Dom’s UCMaterials dress was the best of all 4 though, fantastic work with the hinges and the screen, imo.
I would have to say Justin’s and Bradon’s averaged out about the same to me. Justin had a very space-girl type of theme and the collection carried that kind of peaceful, starry, and futuristic quality evenly throughout. I liked the stardust looking edge on the see-thru skirts and hems. It was more astral than sound-wave to me. And his UNCMaterial dress was beautiful.
Bradon’s collection was a bit less cohesive, but it was a collection that improved seeing it move on the RW – the pieces are more youthful than the still shots reveal. The floral print he chose was gorgeous. And while I liked the bright shiny gold on the shorts, the pants, and the jacket; I despised it on the shoulder of the gown and that strange, giant skirt. The wash and wear blue curtain-swag dress was a complete miss, also. His UNCMaterials dress turned out very nicely and I can’t recall if he made his own pretty crocus-print for it.
I liked all the collections in some way, but none were as compelling as past collections have been. I liked Kate’s decoy at least as much as these, and some of Helen’s too. I am just as happy with a Dom win as Alexandria, and like I said… it feels like all 4 deserve a prize of sorts; they all worked so hard and heartfelt for it.

      • Michelle Wilson

I completely agree with everything you said, especially Bradon’s shiny fabric. It was great as an accent fabric on the more contemporary looks, like the pants and shorts, but looked very dated on the gowns. There were some great moments in his collection but I’m not sure he really had one customer in mind. More like a young girl and her grandmother.

      • swanpride

I agree…though I think they all were more or less on the same level, with each collection having some strong but also some really week pieces…well, Alexandria’s collection was mostly problematic because she didn’t consider that she would need something which draws attention on the runway. I agree with Nina, those clothes are not mine, but they are great for a show room, but on the runway, they don’t pop enough.
But none of the designer this year wowed me the way same past winners and finalists did. On the other hand…there have been season in which I disliked ALL the final collections. So I guess I don’t complain.

    • miatamam

I’m a bit surprised to see Justin ranking so high among the Bitter Kitten voters. He’s a lovely man but his clothing is pretty underwhelming to me. His pipette dress is indeed stunning; but if you remove the 3-D accessories on everything else the clothes look like student work both in design and fit. The pants I owned in 1994 and the judges acted like they’d never seen paint spattering. His soundwave theme was brilliant and maybe the best ever— he just didn’t translate it deeply enough into his actual clothing.

      • MilaXX

I don’t know if Id call Justin’s work student work, but I think he’s just coming into his own as far as his design skills are concerned. He needs to mature a bit more as a designer

      • swanpride

I agree, but I get it. He had a story to tell, and he told it very well. When it comes to presenting his clothes as good as possible, he did an outstanding job. If Alexandria had been as smart as him concerning what draws attention on the runway instead of loosing herself in little details nobody can see from so far away, she would have taken the win for sure. But she lacks the sense of drama to put what she does in the best possible light.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

So. I was off doing in real life things. What did I miss?

      • guest2visits

Dom for the win… crazy new shopping show with crazy peoples… drunk’n Disqus.

    • ItAin’tMe

While we’re avoiding the creation of spoilers, may I bring up All Stars Season 3? I’m amazed that they have 3 past winners among the contestants. If there were only winners contending with other winners, I could see it, because it would be like a play off. But winners against non-winners doesn’t seem fair because the winners have already had their chance to start a line. What do the BK’s think?

      • OrigamiRose

Agree. If they were doing a “Top Chef Masters” and playing for charity, then sure, bring on past winners. But by virtue of having already won, there should be no incentive to bring them back over the next runners-up.

      • MilaXX

I’m not so sure. I often wonder if so-n-so was on X season would they be just as great. This may be an opportunity to see.

Thrilled with the win, Ecstatic that Alexandria came in 2nd. From very early on I think that we all pegged Bradon for the win, but wow…that collection. oof.

    • AutumnInNY

Not thrilled with the win. I would have given my vote to Alexandria. Love the entire vibe of her collection, the fact that you could do separates with them, the unique detailing with the pocket loops, asymmetrical shapes, interesting styling, color shades, etc. I would so wear almost all of those pieces. It’s a cool, hip collection.

    • Kate4queen

      Yay! Dom!

    • BPlease

In the cold light of morning, everyone’s collection other than Alexandria’s reads as ‘student work’ to me. I wish she’d won.

    • SewingSiren

I don’t like it when the make the contestants stand there and beg for the prize. The judges should judge based on the dresses. They NEVER take the stories into account anyway. They shouldn’t. But making them beg based on their back story is gross. Everybody wants it , everybody worked hard. The end.
I thought all the collections were good. I agreed with the outcome.

      • BrooklynBomber

        It’s awful and embarrassing.

        • guest2visits

Yes it’s not just embarrassing – it hurts to watch. I feel bad for trying to juggle in my head who ‘deserves’ it more than the other. I was teary. And there isn’t a right answer – it’s just very meaningful for all of them.

    • Sally3000

Throughout the season, I had a very strong preference for Bradon and Dom. When I saw the photos of the final collections, I was surprised to find preferred Alexandria’s, but seeing the clothes move on the runway really split me between Dom and Alexandria. I was so torn, I hoped they’d give them both the win. I’m happy for Dom and disappointed for Alexandria.

      • BrooklynBomber

Me, too. From what I saw of the season I expected it to come down to Bradon & Dom. When I saw the collections, it was Dom & Alexandria.
