Jesus Christ woman, where is your frock? This looks like a What Katy Did advert.

      • Adriana_Paula

I thought you meant the book!

    • gabbilevy

She never gets it quite right, does she? The hair is the biggest offender here, but I’m not sure that top will ever look anything but tacky.

      • Rhonda Shore

It’s like an athletic bra. The model looks good though, what a difference a shirt makes!!!

        • http://twitter.com/irmaladuce_l8ly IrmaLaDuce

Looks like *my* bra, and I am a fat woman with enormous boobs.

          • Rhonda Shore

then i want one! Who makes it?

            • http://twitter.com/irmaladuce_l8ly IrmaLaDuce

Oh, god I don’t even know. I buy my underwear at a little shop that seems to cater exclusively to fat women and trans women. It is filled with SERIOUS foundation garments from brands I’ve never heard of. When it’s time to buy a new bra, I just let the little old lady who runs the place measure me and tell me what I need.

            • Rhonda Shore

I go to a similar shop, which caters mainly to women of color…

      • ConnieBV

It’s a shame because she is STUNNING but yes, the entire thing is a sadface.

    • tereliz

Just hold on now, Stana Scarlett, you forgot to put your dress back on over your underthings after your nap. Won’t the Wilkes’s be SCANDALIZED!

      • MoHub

Do you mean the Tarleton twins?

        • tereliz

They might like it as is… ;)

    • marlie

I wish she’d worn the jacket that the model is wearing. The hair isn’t doing it for me; especially with all of the visible bobby pins, but her makeup is pretty.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

The bobby pins are killing me. And that first pose with the hand in front of the mouth makes me want to slap her. This is not my Kate Beckett.

        • marlie

I’m spending far too much time trying to figure out if the bobby pins are intentional, or if the hairstylist forgot to pull them out from where they were holding her hair in place before she hit the runway.

          • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Haha – I think Stana’s army have found this post. Everyone saying anything negative is getting downvotes in a way that doesn’t usually happen here!

            • formerlyAnon

Well, apparently all two of Stana’s army. Or perhaps they’re just the vanguard.

            • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Someone’s off sounding the bugle as we speak. Bless.

            • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Well, I for one, am devastated! Despondent!! A broken woman!! A couple of stans have clicked a down arrow!! How will I go on???!!!!???

            • marlie

I want to go cry over my keyboard now.

Seriously though… someone downvotes a comment about bobby pins? Some people are pretty thin-skinned.

      • Not applicable

ITA- it looks like she took the jacket off and just decided to go with the bra… sorta reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Elaine’s co-worker starts wearing her bra as a top and it becomes a ‘thing’ :) (she said totally dating herself…)

    • TrixieConQueso

Thought that fist word up there was “Satan.” And I was like, “Wow. They Went There.” Does have Satanic Overtones.

      • Nice_Shirt

Ditto. I originally read that as Satanic.

    • dorkopolous

This look is horrible! She is kind of pretty but she never gets it right.

    • MoHub

Looks like 1950s underwear waiting for a full-skirted shirtwaist dress to go over top. I think my mom had those underpinnings.

    • Diego!

She should have worn the jacket too. She looks like a porn star on an adult award red carpet event.

    • zuzu

Mischa Barton would like her face back.

      • Blair Sylvester

It really is crazy how similar they look. They should do a movie together and play sisters.

    • Garcia Loca

Sports bra and school play skirt.

    • MrsAtaxxia

      All of this is bad.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

What the what? This is all kinds of not her dress. Starting with this is not the model’s (shown) dress. Deviation fail.

      • penguin momma

“Not the model’s (shown) dress”– crack. me. up. While I usually like it when folks vary from the runway look, this time, its just a NO. The runway look is not great, either– stop with the netting, already. But it’s miles better than this strange “standing in her underwear” look. The bra as top makes the skirt look like an undergarment as well. A definite fail.

      • Carleenml

I love-sighed want-want-want when I saw the runway shot in the initial collection photos. Thought it was crazy fab. This here up above…not so much.

    • MilaXX

Not your look. That dress hair and makeup just feels out of place on her. This is a look for a 20 something or a edgy gal.

    • Blair Sylvester

What is with the posing? It just looks so forced and amateur.

    • decormaven

What’s the look? Sorta 1950s pinup top and full skirt? 1930s hair? Of the minute granite fingernail polish? Hon, go home and figure out what you’re trying to say, style-wise. Distill it into a cohesive form, and get back with us.

    • SugarSnap108

From the waist up, she’s a bad imitation of a 1940s pinup. From the waist down, she’s 1950s mom.

I really like this on the model, though, despite my aversion to sheer panels.

      • marlie

Yes. I sort of love the skirt, but I don’t even see it because I’m distracted by the top and the hair.

        • RebeccaKW

Same. I really like the skirt, but that bra top is unfortunate. The hair is…I don’t even know. Tragic. Mistake. Terrifying.

    • boweryboy

Umm… sweetie, I hate to tell you this, but I think you forgot your blouse.

    • Karen Belgrad

Is she on Dancing With The Stars and doing the Quickstep? Egads!

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

I’m more scandalized by her choice of lip color. Can we ban shades that blend into the skin?

      • marlie

I feel you. This isn’t quite so bad, as the lip color is actually pink, but the lip colors that are the *exact* same shade of the skin actually make me angry.

ETA: I’m talking JLo and Naya Rivera (featured here a few days ago).

        • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

Eva Longoria my main culprit. All beautiful women with gorgeous lips who always go to blend mode.

This isn’t so bad, but the pink makes her look like she’s dehydrated.

    • Kelly

This looks so exactly like those Maidenform bra ads from 1950s/60s magazines that it has to be a deliberate reference. Just google “Maidenform bra ad,” and you can see several examples.

Totally hideous outfit. Painful hair (bobby pins? seriously?) And that “shy little girl” schtick (photo 3) is just embarrassing.

    • Mia Hampton

I wonder how many hours she spent practicing those poses, they are so obviously unnatural.

    • RussellH88

Why not wear the jacket? The jacket is awesome.

I love the look on the model. Love, love, love.

      • tereliz

THE JACKET IS THE BEST PART! Ugh.

    • jen

      Girl, please.

    • Trisha26

So we had (and still have) the granny panties under sheer skirt. Now we’re returning to Madonna’s innerwear as outerwear? Just no.

    • alyce1213

I will attribute this to event appropriateness.

    • thecitysleeps

That hair is horrendous, and she looks like she forgot her shirt. She’s not selling that outfit.

    • teensmom99

I am old enough to remember when DK designed real clothes for real women.

      • Pon

….She is a real woman just like you are real too…

        • teensmom99

Pon, you misunderstood my comment. This was not a comment about Stana Katic’s realness. Instead it is a comment about the design of the outfit which is the concern of this blog. When Donna Karan started out as a designer, her niche was designing clothes that women could wear to work–and they didn’t have to have model-thin bodies for the clothes. This outfit is totally different from the original Donna Karan aesthetic.

    • tb

I dreamed I was a cocktail waitress in my Maidenform Bra.

      • Kelly

        Exactly!

    • HomeOfficeGirl

I see I was not alone in my first thought – “put some clothes on!!” – She’s too conventional to look “edgy” half dressed. The hair is supposed to be retro?? I dunno… turned off by the whole thing.

      • formerlyAnon

I’m not turned off by it, but you’re dead on, she’s too conventionally pretty to work this look as edgy and too old (meaning not a juvenile, rather than meaning “old”) to work it as flirty.

        • HomeOfficeGirl

Wrong choice of words on my part – I don’t mean “turned off” like offended, more like “turned off my her efforts” which fell so flat for me…

    • LJCdoc

I hate when I have to use google to figure out who these people are, only to realize that if I had any life at all, I’d already know. Also, my 4-year-old son would take one look at her and say “why are you naked” (which is what he asks me any time he comes in while I’m half-dressed).

      • formerlyAnon

Oh, c’mon. Not recognizing people you’d probably only recognize if you watched their t.v. shows might be used to argue that you HAVE a life, a *real* one, in which you have more pressing things to do than watch t.v.

Having a busy life sometimes means complete ignorance of pop culture, if pop culture does not overlap with that life much. That’s my excuse for having missed a very large chunk of the ’90s completely.

    • quiltrx

      Shit, what is this mess?
She took all the Dior-ish freshness/flirtiness out of that skirt and made it look like something from the sale rack at Wet Seal. That takes some sort of special evil power right there.

    • ‘Becca’lise Deveaux

What! Who is this person? Stop it. Stop all of it.

    • Barbara Thomas

She’s too old for that outfit. I feel awful saying it, but there comes a time when you’ve got to dress your age. And she’s trying way too hard with the posing. I saw her at a Castle event at the Paley Center and thought she was totally full of herself so maybe I am biased.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I’ve seen a couple of blind items that suggested that she isn’t very nice, so I don’t necessarily think you are biased!

        • Pon

Okay…It’s one thing to comment on the outfit and hair, which I agree with. It isn’t suitable imo on her. Speaking as a Stana Katic fan, I know you’re entitled to your opinions. Everyone is. But saying you thought she was “totally full of herself” and that “suggested that she isn’t very nice” is really immature. You don’t know her and neither do I personally, but if you see her interviews, which I’m not saying you should of shouldn’t you’ll see that she isn’t pretentious or so-called “full of herself” She’s actually very humble and modest (<– yes there's me judging, not in a bad way). Also you can tell that at the Paley Center that she was probably really tired or shy (like she is in many of these audience-filled rooms. You can clearly see her exhibit that at Comic Con). At the very end might I add, she addressed the fans and stated that the show (Castle) wouldn't sustain without the fans, and that she's extremely grateful for them. You can't fake sincerity. Actresses and actors have extremely long hours, and for celebrities in general it's unfortunate that they have to deal with fashion. It's like they get judged so harshly for something they wear or how they style their hair/do their makeup. (not like but rather, do) I get it. That people comment on fashion and style, but to judge someone so harshly and say she isn't very nice is extremely rude. For me it seems like anyone who doesn't know someone and judges them based on an interview or photos has a very poor character/personality….. I honestly think the thumbs down button shouldn't exist. I'm biased so I obviously would defend Stana, but manners is just a general thing that people should take note of and be aware of. This is one reason why I am ashamed of being a part of this society. There's really only a handful of people who restore my faith in humanity. I really wish people would stop being so focused on what celebrities wear/how they look, but that's never going to go away. I guess I'll have to live with it.
On another note, I noticed this was kind of a rant, but I look up to Stana not for how pretty or how great she acts (which is a factor; nevertheless, I'm sticking with her even when she becomes wrinkly and old! It's life. We all grow up, so accept it and live with it.) but because how sophisticated, humble, and how much she contributes to the environment (her ATP project, which is a small but growing environmental initiative) and her care for children. I would never be able to handle the stresses that Stana and other celebrities have to deal with, so I admire her greatly. Not many people can say they've contributed something to better society and the environment along with the amount of hours Stana works.
So I'd like to kindly tell you to think before you post anything online. A cliched saying: If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all.
Gosh….Here ends my rant….I apologize for making such a long post. I just couldn't contain my rage and contempt for a few particular people.
          -A 16-year-old fan girl of Stana's

          • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh HONEY. She’s JUST a celebrity in a bad skirt. She’s not the Messiah. You need to back down from your worship. Or at the very least, you need to recognize not everyone shares your fevered faith.

            • Pon

Yes…..I know she’s just a celebrity….It’s not like i think of her as a goddess or anything. I just look up to her because I think she has a great character. And yes I do recognize it; I don’t think I made my point clear: The point of the post was to bring up the issue of making judgements towards a person, and that people shouldn’t formulate negative opinions of someone if he/she doesn’t actually know that person. I noted that I went off on a tangent at the end of my comment there^^ because I was raging since the person was Stana.

    • Rzldzl122

Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Elaine’s friend wore her bra as a top.

    • sagecreek

Love the skirt! Too bad she forgot her top.

    • Synnae

Granted, she is at the premier of a punk movie of sorts but as her look is anything but punk, she may as well go the other way completely.

I like the skirt on her, as she is shorter than the model, it is looking very New Look and the netting hits her at a better length that the model. No problem with the heels either. However, everything above her mid-riff just needs to go and be replace with a simple tight preferably black short sleeved top and hair that can move…

    • AzSportsGirl

WOW. Are her arches that high naturally or are the shoes doing that to her feet?

    • d4divine

What…she’s not famous enough to warrant the jacket?

    • PastryGoddess

That skirt deserves better than this sad sack of a look

    • nannypoo

Laughable. And are bobby pins a thing now?

    • YoungSally

How does this outfit relate to CBGB again?

    • livesarah

Her hair looks like mine did when I was 15 and my first visit to a real hairdresser resulted in The Worst Haircut of My Life. I wore my hair with lots of bobby pins to flatten the bouffant until it was long enough to tie back. Not exactly red carpet-worthy.

    • formerlyAnon

As has been noted, that is THE most fetching retro bra & petticoat I’ve seen in ages. Doesn’t look like a dress, though, and she’s both too classically pretty and not enough of a juvenile to pull it off as one.

    • MichelleRafter

      She forgot her shirt.

    • lrhoff

      Okay, she forgot the shirt…..

    • majorbedhead

Go home and put a shirt on, Detective Beckett.

    • roche

I like Stana Katic but this styling takes that chic skirt from Dior to Denny’s.

    • pop_top

      No.

    • Tricia

You know what’s wrong with all of you? You don’t see her as Stana you want to see her as Kate Beckett and that’s not gonna serve justice. YES she might be old for this kind of style but dood no one else can pull something like this with the same age as hers. And YES bobby pins are a thing NOW, cuz she made them to. And you might just wanna look at the last two pictures and JUDGE again.

      • demidaemon

To be fair, I would probably dislike this outfit on almost anybody. The hair looks like she is giving herself a self facelift. The posing is AWFUL. It’s Lea Michele level annoying. The make-up only exacerbates the other problems with the look. And, to be honest, and I think most everyone else here would agree, we are perfectly capable of divorcing the character and the role. Calm down, girl. It’s just fashion!

        • Tricia

The lady tweeted about this .. well don’t you think she won’t feel awful looking at this entire comment box with all these harsh comments with her ‘not wearing a shirt on’ .. and honestly I don’t see it the way you see it. But yeah we all have our opinions and so.

          • demidaemon

I thought about not replying to this, but I will say one last thing, just because I cannot help myself. As someone who is in the public eye, Stana Katic should understand that this is the nature of the beast. Also, no one is calling her ugly. We just don’t like her outfit or how she decided to showcase it. Tomorrow, she will probably get up, say F*** YOU Haters, put on something she feels fabulous in, and get on with her life, just like I am going to do.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

You know what’s wrong with you? You’re on the wrong site. Not for you, dear.

        • Pon

It’s funny because Tricia’s entitled to his/her own opinion too, and it’s not like she’s not commenting on her style/choice of clothing which is the purpose of this site. So just let him/her comment; I really have no idea why you have to tell someone that they shouldn’t be here and post what they think. Isn’t that the purpose of the comments section?
I don’t agree with either of your guys’ level of rudeness/hostility because there is nothing wrong with the people’s opinions on what she’s wearing.
          @TomandLorenzo:disqus
Btw in the previous post that I made, I don’t think I made my point clear. I wasn’t pushing for people to have the same view as me and as you said, so call “worship” her but rather dissuade that person from judging a person if he/she had never met/engaged with that person. Normally I wouldn’t comment on a person’s post like that if it were another person, but obviously since i’m a Stana fan, I would try and defend her and maybe change the person’s opinion about her. (That’s why I kind of went off on a tangent) I don’t care if everyone thinks this look is totally horrendous and that she had a poor choice of clothing, but you really shouldn’t comment negatively on ANY person as a whole. That’s simply uncivil and shows that you have poor character as a person. I mean really? Formulate a negative opinion based on how they depict themselves?? That’s ridiculous.
Anyways…people in society will keep on judging others negatively….even when they don’t know that person personally…and sadly there’s nothing that can be done about it.
I know this is totally irrelevant to the topic of the article or wtv this is, but since that person (I forgot who he/she was) commented about Stana as a person, I felt the need to comment and address that issue. And I don’t mean that he/she is wrong about Stana. I may be wrong who knows? except for the people who know Stana.
Again there’s nothing wrong with ANYONE commenting on this since it’s open to the public. Jeez people stop being so mean to one another. People who do that absolutely disgust me.

    • demidaemon

Ick. Also, those poses are terrible and contrived. Everything here is terribly contrived. Is everyone else already tired of black dresses and black shoes? Because I am.

    • demidaemon

Whoa, looks like the Castle fans got POed. Downvotes ahoy!

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I would have never thought they’d be as ruffled as a Lambert stan, but it’s looking that way. I’m cracking up.

        • demidaemon

          I know, right?

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I’m a HUGE Castle fan. But I’m not blind!

    • Lily

I love Stana but this look is pretty bad. A more traditional shirt or something would be better. Nothing against the hair tho, she likes to be trendy and the bobby pins are doing that.

    • Guest

She is dressed in the CGBG spirit… and sorry but I think she is great in this !!!

    • Marie-Elise POLYXEN

She is dressed in the CBGB spirit..she looked stunning… I like it !

    • decormaven

An observation: There’s a single downvote for almost every comment on this thread, which seems a little weird. BKs, for the most part, are making comments about the look that’s shown, and not making a judgment on the person wearing it. Most of the celebrities whose images appear on TLo are professionally styled; our comments are aimed at those who dress stars for a living. It’s an observation regarding a professional effort, not a personal attack, for my part.

      • EveEve

clearly there is a Stana fangirl or two in our midst who is/are trying to make some kind of point.

      • marlie

Agree. Most of the BKs reserve downvotes for comments where there is a violation of the explicit or implicit ToS of this blog; not just because they disagree with the opinion stated.

    • http://www.momforless.com Crystal

      No.

    • Beckymarie

I normally like Stanas outfits but I’m really not sure about this one! Its seems most people disagree with me but I actually kind of like her hair its cute! But I guess it isn’t really a red carpet style

    • adrienne

All these people hating on Stana’s style and dress are jealous of her.
Like, really, who are all of you to criticize her?
Are you a fashion expert? Probably not, just some internet user who has too much time.

      • EveEve

heh guilty… we are all bitter kittens who should stop the criticizing immediately and learn not to be so hateful and jealous.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

        Away with you, fangurl.

        • formerlyAnon

Did that roll high damage points?

(Sorry. Involuntary belly laugh & mental return to younger days.)

        • marlie

I want to say “YES, actually, the bloggers ARE fashion experts,” but I don’t want to feed the trolls.

    • Sara Brams-Miller

I actually really love her skirt. And while I think she can pull it off, I’m not a fan of the top…

      • marlie

I love the skirt too. I just wish she’d worn the jacket that the model had on. I’m just not a fan of bra tops ever (and you better not wear one the next time I see you “just because!”).

    • Samantha Klein

      Noooo.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I just saw the S K of your user name out of the corner of my eye and thought “Stana’s chiming in!”

    • RoseJB

I’m sad that this gorgeous skirt wasn’t done justice.

    • Georgie

Love Stana’s avant garde retro look here. The hair a modern nod to the Gatsby era of the 20′s. She is stunning in the Donna Karan peek a boo skirt and crop top.
Kudos to her for not being a clone on the red carpet.

    • altissima

The top makes the entire outfit look like underwear. Fabulous underwear, but underwear never the less. Oops how embarrassing -she forgot to put on her dress.
