Rooney Mara in Proenza Schouler at the “Her” Premiere
Stand back, everyone. The Audreybot is overloading. She could blow at any second.
Rooney Mara attends the premiere of “Her” during the 2013 New York Film Festival in a Proenza Schouler dress paired with Brian Atwood sandals and Jennifer Meyer jewelry.
Proenza Schouler Spring 2014 Collection
We dubber her Audreybot when she was on her Girl With the Dragon Tattoo poledance/world tour because she has a delicate wide-eyed beauty that she learned to set off (or learned to allow other people to figure out how to set off) through fashion, very much like Audrey Hepburn did. We think it’s a comparison she and her people have actively sought. But because she’s working an Alterna-Girl persona to the hilt (stiff, awkward, fashion-forward), we decided she was a robot version of Audrey rather than a human mimicking her. Not so much “What if Audrey Hepburn wore Proenza Schouler?” as it is, “What if they built a robot version of Audrey Hepburn in the 23rd Century?”
There. That’s “Audreybot” for the newbies.
So: this look. Not so much. The bodice, the skirt and the shoes all need to break up with each other and go seek out new outfits. We like (or in the case of the shoes, don’t actively dislike) all three pieces, but we think they all look awkward together; especially the bodice and the skirt. They really should be separates.
Oh, and the “I’m dying of consumption” eye makeup. Is that back already? Didn’t we just do this?
