Rita Ora in Moschino in London

Attagirl:

Rita Ora heads to the Rimmel London 180 Years of Cool Party in London in head-to-toe Moschino.

Moschino Fall 2013 Collection/Model: Moschino Fall 2013

The fashion rules are always going to be different for pop stars, who inhabit a world where flesh-colored vinyl bikinis are stagewear and walking down the street dressed like a soldier in Liberace’s Christmas Brigade is considered not just normal, but de rigeur. In other words: attention seeking, full speed ahead, damn the dignity and throw the sense of shame overboard.

Attagirl.

GIRL, this is YOUR outfit, and yours alone.

      • carnush

        Exactly. She looks fierce!

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

She is my favorite Brit export of the moment.

    • IRVN

      Gurl NO,u ain’t Gwen Stefani,u look ridiculous x

    • Karen Belgrad

Have she and Alan Cumming been shopping together… again?

    • siriuslover

I once had a black sheath dress with a jacket in exactly that plaid. I LOVED it. But I was also skinny and 24.

      • sagecreek

Inorite? I remember thinking I was fat, then. Ah, youth.

        • formerlyAnon

          Testify.

        • Tracy_Flick

          Mmm hmm.

    • amanda siegelson

in principal i hate those shoes – but i adore them with this outfit! swoon…
and her make up is impeccable.

    • Latin Buddy

Yea, sorry guys. This belongs to Gwen Stefani circa 1998

      • marlie

She is quoted as saying that Stefani is one of her biggest fashion inspirations, so I guess it’s not surprising to me that Rita channels Gwen every once in a while.

      • dschubba

        Wouldn’t that be 2001-ish Gwen?

    • MilaXX

It’s not a black/white look. I’m happy. Besides I think she looks cute in this.

    • RussellH88

I love it. It’s like Harley Quinn and Gwen Stefani had a baby.

    • AndiMarie

      *gasp* COLOR!!!

Oh what the heck, I love this, if nothing else, because it’s not black and white.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Am I wrong for my first impression being “McQueen rip-off”? I know fashion influences fashion and tartan print is certainly nothing new, but this feels a little….icky. Can a BK (or Uncle) with greater knowledge than myself explain it to me?

      • hughman

I would say more Vivienne Westwood but you’re on the right track.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

And see, when I think Westwood, I think complicated draping and all things HBC. I’m still learning so much. (thanks for the reply, btw)

      • xmixiex

Yes, that was my first thought.

      • Qitkat

        Nope, mine too.

    • mjude

I have to say I love it & also love the shoes.

    • NoveltyRocker

Every separate piece in this is pretty rad, and I get that pop stars work on a whole other frequency, but letting up on the gas just a little here and there would really set the whole look off.

    • WendyD

      I would so wear that!

    • Golfkat

I always wondered how Moschino is actually pronounced. Is [moskino] an American thing?

      • xmixiex

Italian. A “ch” combination is almost always an english “k” sound.

    • Constant Reader

I actually like this a lot, even though I’m not crazy about any of the pieces. It’s like fashion magic.

    • xmixiex

she’s giving me so much gwen in the third photo. love it.

    • sagecreek

I still don’t know who she is, but I love this, and she is owning it like it’s her first car.

    • decormaven

Working it! And she’s got the shoes from the runway look. Very nice!

    • AndreaSkates

Props that she knew to leave off the hat, since it makes the outfit look like the only reasonable accessory to consider is a bagpipe.

      • Tracy_Flick

I agree, the runway looks is just a bit too costume-y. With the hat, it looks like one of those pageant national costumes.

    • justineyy

      Her makeup is PERFECTION.

    • BrooklynBomber

Very fun and, frankly, any popstar who’s ass isn’t expose gets major points right now.

    • Eric Stott

      Love

    • Miss B.

First picture of her I’ve seen where she doesn’t look like the definition of skank, so I agree with the attagirl.

    • Danielle

      I am LOVING the bow-tie.

    • AmeliaEve

LOVE! I am always a sucker for menswear looks, but the colorful plaid and the silly gold embroidery put this one right over the top for me. And she is rockin’ it. Dear Mayim Bialek: This woman is completely covered and completely hot. You can learn from this.

    • crash1212

I’m a little disappointed that she didn’t wear the jaunty little hat a la the model. I love a plaid.

    • Imasewsure

I love this gurl and luckily I don’t know anything about her/never heard her sing or talk, etc. Which is probably why I still love her. This is fun and cute

    • formerlyAnon

I always have a fondness for this one, but by GOD. She’s hitting this out of the park and I personally will nominate her for a situational WERQ.

And if/when the day comes that she quits looking (usually) genuinely happy to be where she’s at doing what she’s doing, I will be sad.

P.s. Miley Cyrus: Contemplate. I’d like a 2 page, double spaced, 12-point-type analysis why this works for her. Food for thought.

    • bellafigura1

Nah, too off the menu for me. She needed to do something to make it hers.

    • tereliz

I’m really starting to love this girl.

      She sings music, right? :P

    • Janet B

      Love this on her.

    • rh33

The more I see her, the more I love this gal!

    • Tracy_Flick

I think she looks AWESOME. I can’t imagine living in a world where Liberace’s Christmas Brigade is a bad thing.

    • boweryboy

I hate the shoes, and I hate that she’s gone back to her ratted out hair and too red lips after the fab hair and make-up she had at the VMAs.

      Otherwise, she looks good-ish.

    • Dagney

Love this. I am becoming a fan of Ms Ora. I dig a lady who carves out her style with a hatchet. She has had a few misses in the last couple of months, but she is never boring, and she never looks like she just took whatever was available on the stylist’s rack.

    • kimiakay

Just perfect. The fit, the color, the hair, the shoes: it is definitely hers. Love it! Glad she left off the hat.

    • LaSylphide

Love love love plaid. It’s wild and crazy, and yet coherent. Well done. (I bet Alan Cumming is positively seething with jealousy that Rita got to this outfit first.)

    • Qitkat

I think that’s my high school band tartan. I prefer my old kilt. A little PLAID goes a long way, as we kittens know from PR.

    • cocohall

Is anyone else hungry for shortbread? Walker’s, I believe, may be the brand that has nearly the same plaid on their packaging. That’s all I can see . . .

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

No monochromatic look for her! PS: I want her eyebrows.

    • alyce1213

Hate her hair, love the outfit.

    • kathrineb

I like bold looks but this is not cute at all. The voluminous hair, the gold embroidery. Not attractive. If she hair hair that matched her eyebrows and it was short of slicked back it would improve it a lot.

      SNAPs for days.
