Rebel Wilson in Ralph Lauren at Cosmopolitan’s Super Fun Night Party

Posted on October 03, 2013

We’re sorry to resort to cliche here, we really are; and if we could get away with not saying this at all, we would. But the fact remains, and we’d look silly not acknowledging it:

Rebel Wilson attends Cosmopolitan’s Super Fun Night With Rebel Wilson in New York City in a Ralph Lauren dress paired with Jacob & Co. Jewelry, a JustFab clutch, and Kenneth Cole NY pumps.

Bitch knows how to dress her body. She really does. Or at least, she’s smart enough to listen to other people who do. Great fit, great color, skin showing in all the right places, exactly where she wants it. And she’s clearly loving it and owning every inch of it. The only thing we’re not loving is the brass-knuckle clutch. It just doesn’t feel like it goes with the rest of the look. Everything else? SERVING IT.

Attagirl.

    • PastryGoddess

Some people *coughMelissaMcCarthycough* should be taking notes on this look and dialing up her stylist STAT

      • rage_on_the_page

Thank you! Though both of them need to kneel at the feet of Octavia Spencer’s stylist.

    • JasmineAM

PLEASE SEND YOUR GAYS TO MELISSA MCCARTHY.

      • Karen Belgrad

I believe you’ve covered what 99% of us were going to write :)

      • Jessica Freeman

I think the difference between Melissa and Rebel is that Rebel embraces her curves while Melissa tends to try to hide them.

        • Imasewsure

I don’t think it’s a body image thing… I think it’s just their very different personalities playing out in their fashion. Melissa seems like a quiet “regular” person and she seems to go for more modest (and alas, frumpy) fashion while Rebel is young and brash and just goes for it.

          • PastryGoddess

She’s not that young. I believe she’s in her late 20’s or early 30’s

      • RussellH88

I was going to post the exact same thing.

      • formerlyAnon

Yes. Although she needs clever advisors, not ones who will try to dress Ms. McCarthy like Ms. Wilson. I am no expert but I’m not convinced they share similar proportions, other than being in plus size range.

        • ana170

I previously pooh-poohed the idea that Melissa should seek out Octavia Spencer or Oprah’s stylists because her body type is so different from either of theirs. I think Melissa’s much closer to Rebel in shape. They both have similar large gut issues.

          • formerlyAnon

You are probably right. As quick as I am to spout opinions, I’m not that visual and am crap at judging proportions, dimensions, size and distance.

          • marlie

Even though they’re different shape and body types, Having MM go to Octavia or Oprah’s stylists would be helpful just because those stylists are clearly adept at dressing ladystars who aren’t a model-sized 0 or 2; they don’t have to be the same shape and size, though.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Word. Wilson looks comfortable with her body, and it’s working. I just wish Melissa would display that kind of confidence.

        • xmixiex

I think Melissa is incredibly confident.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

Actually I agree;I would love to see her find a designer or designers and stylist who could help her realize her potential.

      • Isabel

And to Christina Hendricks (for the curvy parts)

    • Jessica Freeman

And relax the shoulders a bit dear…but I love the shit out of this dress on her.

      • Meg0GayGuys6

I was thinking the same… exhale and relax those shoulders!

        • Eric Stott

and maybe just a tiny bit more support under those puppies….but really, she looks smashing.

          • conniemd

Yes, I thought she looked great, but the puppies are sagging a bit and could have been lifted up, but really that was only a quibble.

            • Eric Stott

on second look I don’t think they’re sagging much, but there’s a crossover effect in the bodice that gives the impression- possibly the only detail in the dress working against her.

      • Zaftiguana

I wonder if this is a case of Girdle Shoulders. One of the best styles of slimmer for full figured ladies is the kind that comes all the way up to shoulder straps but under and around the boobs. Keeps it from having to be tugged up all night and eliminates backrolls and elastic impressions. I love mine. BUT, when you’ve worn it a while, it’s a little killer on the shoulders.

      • Spreecord

        Word.

Rebel? One fat girl to another? Drop those shoulders, honey. That pose is making you look neckless.

    • NBG

The color and the fabric are fantastic on her. Want to steal. And bonus points for not going with matchy shoes.

    • leahpapa

Lena Dunham, *this* is what it looks like to know that the body is not an apology and to dress in a way that celebrates it.

    • jw_ny

great color on her. She seems to be enjoying bring attention to her “girls” as of late. ;) Her makeup is quite severe tho, especially her eyebrows, and it’s aging.

      • Constant Reader

I feel like such and old lady because I want to say to Rebel “you’re too young and pretty to need that much makeup.” She’s rocking the hell out of the dress, shoes, and accessories, and her hair is gorgeous.

    • bizarro

      love. she looks hot!

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      Simply, lovely.

    • BuffaloBarbara

I think I’d like it even more with a sweetheart instead of v-neck neckline, but it’s gorgeous, and she looks like she knows it. And, good job Ralph Lauren PR people, I’m inspired to go over to the designer’s site and look at other clothes that might look decent on non-popular sizes.

      • poggi

Do! They are one of my go-to brands. They have nice plus size and misses size options that are very flattering to women of different sizes.

    • FunButNutz

Comparing her face to Lena Dunham’s face a post or two ago. Rebel looks uncomfortable. Lena looked at ease. I guess I need to have my eyes checked.

      • Laura Renee

Her smile looks a little clenched and forced, to me.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Teensiest of quibbles – she really needs a manicure.

    • Donyelle

She is letting the bitches HAVE…IT!

    • mhleta

This could have easily gone Barney the Dinosaur wrong because of the color but it’s fabulous. She’s got the underpinnings all worked out, her skin and hair looks gorgeous and she’s serving up a great smile. Cool girl.

    • MilaXX

I love her. Now this is a dress I wouldn’t mind seeing Lena in. It has some color, it shows some skin and it feels like something a young person would wear. I watched her show last night and I don’t know if I’ll watch again, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.

      • marlie

Yep. If Lena wants to wear bright colors and show off her body, THIS is the way to do it. Christina Hendricks could take a lesson here, as well.

    • Ana the Hated

I don’t know if that’s a dolman sleeve doing this, or the shadow behind her, but it looks like she’s hunching her shoulders way forward. Stand up straight and serve it, girl!

    • Introspective

great shape and fit. and this is one of my favorite colors to wear– it sings on every skin tone. rebel here is no exception… she is doing her thing!!!

      • Rhonda Shore

        the color is soooo rich!!!

      • kimmeister

I just wore basically this exact dress in this color in the Chaps line, only sleeveless, yesterday. The color worked like a dream.

    • RedRaven617

She was on television yesterday morning (Kelley and Michael, I think) and looked wonderful. Had on a beautiful dress as well.

    • bellafigura1

Yay, love the color and the neckline and the shoes. If anything, it could be a little bit better fitted at the shoulder, hoisting it maybe an inch. But damn.

    • Ellen R.

      Her skin is amaze.

    • Danielle

YOU BETTER WERQ *snaps of respect*

    • Erica_Vuitton

Snaps of purple respect girl!! I love this dress on her, she knows what she’s doing. For me the off accessory is the earrings. Something black would’ve brought everything into cohesion. No one can say ABC isn’t promoting the hell outta this show but honestly I’m not sure how long it will last as the plot seems pretty limiting.

    • decormaven

      Love it! She looks fantastic.

    • Tanya Wade

      Fabulous and oh-so-beautiful.

    • girliecue

This shows why I adore Rebel: she is always unabashedly, unapologetically, uncomplicatedly herself. There is no reason why any woman has to feel bad for not looking like Barbie, not being Supermom, not acting like Mother Theresa or any of the impossibly attainable and often ridiculous standards that are set for women. Girl is gonna enjoy herself and look fabulous no matter what. And she gets bonus points for being all “Ima be me” without having to add “and fuck you if you don’t like it”. She completely owns her joy.

Note to hair care product companies: you would be a fool not to snap her up as a spokesperson. She has one of the loveliest, healthiest heads of hair on the planet!

      • decormaven

Ditto on signing her for a hair product promo. She would be great!

    • Rand Ortega

Purple sex on a stick. WERQ. Fence jumper hot.

      • marlie

        ^I love this. :)

    • Aurumgirl

Beautiful colour and design. She looks fantastic with that glorious smile.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

Excellent boob deployment. (Needs a bracelet.)

    • ewes_urn_aim

I still love the KittyFace shirt more.

    • frannyprof

Love love love. Totally WERQ worthy.

    • Cheryl

She looks a little more nervous here, than the street photograph a day or so ago, where she genuinely looked very happy, but her fabulousness trumps everything. I even like the brass knuckle clutch, it keeps her look still Rebelish.

    • carnush

She looks amazing. Love the shoes.

    • gubblebumm

bad posture which would be helped by hoisting up the girls…and I have that dress, a sleeveless jcpennys version, but yeah same dress, cant go wrong with that cut

    • GorgeousThings

There’s something sad about that clutch. Maybe it’s just because it’s so McQueen-wannabe. But other than that, yes, she’s killing it!

      • marlie

I just realized that the clutch is a McQueen ripoff! Her people couldn’t have gotten her the real thing?

    • quiltrx

LOVE the color, and that neckline is really flattering for her. I like the clutch, I think it’s a bit of a wink. You go, girl!

    • Qitkat

Stunning color on her. I’m so glad those are not rings because they are not flattering.

    • LJCdoc

I love this woman. And I really have no idea why she’s famous.

    • nannypoo

I keep coming back to this to see what everyone likes about it. Sorry, I think she looks like a drag queen. A pretty drag queen, but a drag queen nonetheless.

      • LJCdoc

she looks beautiful and happy – what’s not to love?

    • Zaftiguana

Perfect amount of cleavage, and her face looks amazing. Personal best face for her, maybe. Dress is a bit department store but flattering as fuck and occasion appropriate. Shoes are killer.

    • funkydonut

She wore this dress on Jimmy Fallon the other night (or one very like it) and while I agree that she looks fabulous here, she seemed very uncomfortable in the sit-down with Jimmy. She kept tugging the dress down over her knees, and it wasn’t even riding up high! Her tugging at it constantly brought attention to it that made her seem very self-conscious – which is unfortunate, because again, I think she looks fabulous!

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

The State Fair of Texas is in full swing right now. That means
      1) Fried everything
      2) Gawking at giant East Texas Hair all day.

God, how I wish she was my BFF and we’d go spend the day at the Texas State Fair. Could you imagine?

      • JDreesen

ugh. don’t remind me. i went to that thing every year growing up, and to this day if i smell sweat mixed with lamb fur and/or cotton candy vomit (what? some of those midway rides were definitely induce-worthy), my mind instantly takes me right back there.

if i never see another deep-fried Frito Pie in my life it will be too soon, is my point.

ETA: you know what, i’m all talk. if someone suggested we go there tomorrow, i’d be pitching in for fuel charges.

      • formerlyAnon

“bouffants that would give drags queen fits of submissive wetting.”

Please tell me you have a little collection of short stories or slice-of-life essays you’re working on.

        • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Well, since this is Texas, one year at the Dallas Cedar Springs Halloween block party (Cedar Springs = ground zero of Oaklawn, Dallas’ gayborhood), there was this drag queen with a sash that said Miss East Texas and her wig was LITERALLY so high she hit a power line with it. With heels + wig, she was at least 12 – 14 feet tall. I am not making this up nor exaggerating.

          • formerlyAnon

I believe you re: Halloween. I lived in Dallas for a couple-three years in the ’80s, for a year of that just on the western edge of Oak Lawn off of Cedar Springs. Though I confess, never made it to the fair.

I wish I were remotely optimistic about Davis’ chances. It’s gonna take a LOT of Republican women voting for her to get the numbers she needs. I live in the liberal oasis of Austin, and I don’t [yet] hear support for her from the “moderately” conservative folks she’s going to need. Just a lot of “I like her, BUT . . . “

    • Nancy Karpen

A woman clearly comfortable in her body. She looks great

    • lolaleen

Is everyone else missing that you can TOTALLY see her nipples? Otherwise she looks fab. I just can’t get past that.

      • gracedarling

She is totally Nips McGee in this dress. It can’t just be our monitors…

    • Calinda_L

I read the opening line and then pored over the pictures to see what she did wrong, thinking you were going to call her out for something bad (and was getting more and more riled up about it, because she clearly looks fabulous (except maybe her hair)). Phew! I should know better than to doubt TLo.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Don’t love the hair, but she is working the hell out of that dress. Go, Rebel.

    • JaCory Deon

See looks pretty here BUT that hair has got to go. It is pure Miss Texas 1989 and is bringing down what is otherwise a nice look.

    • Sweetvegan

She looks awesome! Love the knuckle clutch – adds a bit of personality. This should’ve been a WERQ!

    • MrsBug

The more I see her, the more I like her.

    • http://howtofaint.tumblr.com/ How to Faint

Oh wow! Rebel two days in a row! TLo, thank you, thank you, thank you.

    • HM3

She looks fantastic, but also incredibly uncomfortable. She’s making the “bare your teeth” smile. Uncomfortable undergarments? Sad.

    • marlie

This is fabulous! I love the color, the fit is *perfection*, and the shoes are a great contrast. I don’t even mind the clutch that much. And her hair and makeup look good, too.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

She looks happy and proud and beautiful and that dress looks fab on her. Also I happened to catch “Super Fun Night” and I rather enjoyed it. It’s not a great work of art or anything, but it had a lot of heart and I would watch it again.

    • neonseattle

She’s always glowing. She must have the best hair and makeup people. Stop scrunching up your shoulders though!

    • Lilithcat

The girls could use a bit more support.

      Otherwise, yes, fabulous.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Kudos to her and her people…she looks marvelous!

    • Heather

Girl looks HAWT. Plus, that’s Ralph Lauren?

    • alyce1213

The color is gorgeous, the fit is right, but the bestest thing is her glorious smile and confidence.

    • understateddiva

      WERQ for me.

    • Chickadeep

I’m feeling validated…I just bought a very similar dress, in Navy. Whoo! (Girlfriend looks good.)

    • Dadasoph

I love her so much and she looks super fantastic here and it is really weird that I have any negative thing to say about her, but I do and I’m just going to say it:

Her smile in photos always looks so unnatural. Just “teeth together-lips apart” with no actual smile to it. When she’s performing and laughing she has a normal, natural smile and it’s gorgeous but her camera smile is more of a grimace and it bugs me.

There, I said a bad thing about Rebel Wilson. I await the Lane Bryant cops arrival to revoke my fat girl club card.

    • AnneElliot

She looks great, and confident. She’s rocking that purple and the metallic shoes. Not loving the death’s head clasps, but whatever. Well done!! I’d love to hang out with her.

    • grapecranberry

She looks like they stuffed her into some Spanx that are 3 sizes too small and she can’t even breathe. Look at her face. I feel so bad for her right now.

    • Lily-Rygh

I think this shape is flattering as hell, although the shiny fabric looks a little cheap to me. Still, BRAVO!

    • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

That’s a lot of sleeve for a broad-shouldered gal. Minor quibble.

    • xmixiex

      love her, LOVE this!
bag seems like a bit of a McQ wannabe… but it’s also pretty cool that she’s wearing great looking, rather affordable clothes.

    • abishagijh

I only wish she had done her nails.
