It’s cute enough, and at least it’s not twee.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

The basic black helps to cut down on the twee, even with the tiny bows. I really, really her make-up and hair.

  • Oh – this is not the Michelle Williams I was expecting. I think the dress would be so much better without the bows, and she needs a bit of jewellery. Love the hair and makeup.

    • sagecreek

Yep. The bows were too much, but otherwise she looks spectacular. And hey, It’s MW. We probably can’t expect a complete lack of twee.

    • Sarah

I was gonna say she is one of the only persons who can probably pull those bows off because she has twee cred. They are not the worst the World of Twee can offer, at least. Yeah on the hair though; really nice.

      • Very true – she wouldn’t know herself without the nod to twee. I just personally hate bows *there*.

        • Sarah

Yah I know what you mean. It makes the cocktail dress look like one of those sundresses you wear when you’re a kid that ties at the shoulder. Not very womanly.

      • SugarSnap108

Yeah, the bows are Twee-Light, and I can accept them on her. She looks pretty – I just want to throw some jewelry at her.

      • ceceliadid

At least she added some edgy to her twee. It’s tweedgy.

  • carnush

I love it. Sleek and sophisticated.

  • It’s perfectly lovey, but I am so ready for a change from her. I get that having a signature style is important, but she refuses to mix it up any and I’m bored shitless.

  • Diego!

I don’t mind the bows, she looks gorgeous! I love her hair!

  • BrooklynBomber

Fabulous. And, surprisingly, the length works.

  • Tatiana Luján

Very pretty. The only things I dislike are the shoes, platform peep toes are ugly.

  • Tricia

She looks great, even though it’s a little bland. I want her hair.

  • Jessica Freeman

It would have only been slightly better without the bows.

  • Suzanne Moore

Does this remind anyone else of Roman shades?

  • mjude

    I really like it

  • Nancer

Why no jewelry? Would a little bit of sparkle hurt her? Come on now!

  • nannypoo

The dress is too long, but otherwise she looks good. I like her hair longer and edgier like this. I was really sick of that damn pixie.

  • I love the bows. They are ninja like but get the delicate tweeness she loves without hitting you over the head with it’s obvious. (Also, we are Sisters of the Blond Pixie. We stick together.)

  • Bexxx

I thought this was Renee Zellweger from the thumbnail. You have such a nice face, Michelle, you should move it sometimes.

    • marlie

In the second-to-last picture, I see a hint of Charlize in her face.

  • MilaXX

    pretty, but typical Michelle.
    Wheres’s the sausage uncles?

  • cleva1

I’m not a huge fan of her usual style choices but this I like. Twee elegance? And, I’m kinda digging the hair.

  • Clueless_Jock

    Needs pearls.

  • PastryGoddess

The bows took it right over the edge into Tweeville for me

Agreed, I’m not getting my daily dose of protein. Has all of our shameless objectifying of men scared them away?

  • marlie

I’m not sold on the dress (the tiers aren’t doing her any favors), but her hair and makeup are PERFECT!

  • Kelly

There oughta be a law: no wearing of bows after puberty.

  • TAGinMO

    Twee-est. Funeral. Ever.

  • Is this navy in the middle and on the bottom? Or is it just the light?

  • formerlyAnon

LOVE the hair and I’d love the makeup in real life when the camera flash wasn’t giving her a metallic glow. I like the dress very much, it’d be better without the bows, but either her shoes or her stance prevent this, somehow, from being the triumph of a Little Black Dress which it ought to be.

    • ampg

Yes, the overuse of shimmer makes her look a little like a robot.

    • fursa_saida

I can’t stop thinking I’d like this way more if it were a halter instead of tank-style straps. As it is the overall shape is almost exactly straight up and down.

  • bertkeeter

Wow…It’s actually chic! Don’t see that too much anymore! Good job!

  • RoseJB

Minus the bows, maybe. I so love the hair, lately.

  • Imasewsure

Change the shoes to something more interesting and add a cuff or something and this would be perfect. I can deal with twee from a twee-fessional so the bows don’t bug

  • ShaoLinKitten

The sexy widow trend can end any time.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

I like this…even the bows (they make it hers).

  • PeaceBang

    The make-up is absolutely stunning.

  • Taylor Bigler

She looks smokin’, but hasn’t she worn this EXACT same outfit before?

  • NYCGlamourpuss

A very nice LARGE step away from Twee and towards sophisticated! Love it!

  • Sunraya

Face looks gorgeous!! Not loving the dress. Boring.

  • crash1212

My first reaction was…BLAH. But the more I look at this, the more I really like it. Not one smidge of jewelry and I don’t miss it at all. The dress, the hair and that face is doing all the talking. Sophisticated with bows. Totally her look.

  • E. D.

    Needs a bracelet.

  • Trickytrisha

Not sure why, but for me, she looks a whole lot better than usual. Maybe it’s the makeup, which is awesome. The dress is a take it or leave it kinda dress for me, the shoes a bit clunky, but wow, she sure looks great.

  • flamingoNW

  • Groovy hair; love it

  • StephanieLovesTLo

    WERQ it! She looks gorgeous.

  • quiltrx

I vote that armpit bows are (and can only be) twee.
That said, I really like her hair, and her makeup looks good too.

  • Dara Fargotstein

In this whole look an certain angles she looks like a miniature Nicole Kidman

  • Gatto Nero

Normally I hate bows on principle, but these add a little welcome punctuation to the dress.
Just beautiful and sophisticated all around. Nicely done.
