Project Runway Unconventional Challenge: Candy Dots, Licorice Strings, and L’Oreal!
Recycled/reimagined 70s polyester outfits….the ones in the not so great colors.
Wow. I’m usually not a fan of ‘prints so busy they cause seizures’ but most of this collection is quite feminine, delicate and pretty. I’m in love with the lipstick sweaters and hope Katie Perry wears all of them!
My husband is calling this the “trippy lampshade from a 70s drug den” collection – but I’m kind of into that lipstick sweater!
I like colorful clothes, a lot. But thats whats going on here: a lot. Sometimes to much. I’d wear some of the pieces, just not in such an over the top styling.
Only *meh*: I mistook the 5 lipsticks on one of the tops for severed fingers… oops
Me too! Or a menorah. A defective menorah
I posted that the lipsticks reminded me of something else, related to having male dogs!
This is why I love the TLo website…you feature designers and people from all over. Thank you!
-one of your loyal South Indian (but raised in the US) readers :o)
This is what happens when you mix EDM with the Gilded Age. At least he skipped the furry raver boots.
It struck me as a 20′s Flapper/Native American mashup.
With some old school Peter Max thrown in!
I like all the colors! (Says lady who wears only black, navy, and dark green.) Nice.
I love this collection. It looks like spring. There are several outfits I would gladly wear. And look no sheer or exposed nipples. This collection made me smile and feel joyful.
I like the silohuettes, but some of these are so overly embellished that it veers into TackyTown.
I was thinking Peter Pilotto goes to Candyland.
Yeah, or Trapper Keeper unicorn folder version of Mary Katrantzou. It looks cheap and juvenile to me.
Now, I’m gonna be obsessing over beaded fringe skirts and dresses!
“dubbed Josephine Baker goes raving.” fun. Love the shoes.
Neat! It’s a lot of look, but it’s fun. My only criticism is the skirts wrapped so that they are essentially arrows pointing to the model’s crotch. Unflattering, and we don’t need to give Miley any more ideas.
I think this would be improvement for Miley. St least she would be saying something with her clothes. Though I do agree about the skirts. They are very, very strange in a totally distracting way.
Some of these are amazing, some of these are cat toys.
some are amazing cat toys!
Wow this stuff is fun! Especially love the sleeveless dresses since they are wild (but there is less of them). Really cute line.
So many unflattering looks here.
I feel like I get it, but I don’t necessarily like it.
I’m the opposite. I (mostly) like it but feel like I don’t really “get” it. [back to lurkdom]
Some interesting pieces in there, but you gotta look really hard with an editing eye to spot them. Remove the hair/shoes and arm things and they;are quite pretty. I really like the nude dress with the silver embellishments and then further down the white look with the orange/yellow/pink patterns.
Gorgeous colours and I they work even better against a black and white base. I’m usually not easily overwhelmed by flashy prints and pretty colours but this is bloody fantastic! (except for the fringed Amazon look, wtf?)
I even like the Final Fantasy meets Calimero hair.
I can’t remember the last time a collection inspired such strong LOVE/HATE reactions in me! I think that’s a good thing, but I can’t be sure.
Am I picky for saying that he sent down the same dress in like 15 different prints? I like the collection, but once I got past the prints, there weren’t too many silhouettes to choose from
“There’s Something About Mary” Quant hair.
Looks like a bunch of 27-piece wigs to me lol.
definitely getting a 20s vibe from this collection. Can’t place the other references, but overall a great collection of original looks
My first impression was Erté, my favorite ’20′s designer. And I think this is why my initial reaction to this collection was delight.
Women have waists!!
There was a branch of Mayans who worshipped lipstick?
I really love the color palette. Some of the prints are terrific. I feel like there needed to be some editing, particularly with the embellishments. It may work well for the collection that a lot of the pieces are separates–some of them will look great paired with simpler pieces, I think.
I completely agree. The color palette is just perfect to me. I would wear that lipstick sweater with a pair of jeans in a hot minute.
send me the shoes, please
I like a lot of the color and pattern — some visual editing required of course.
But those wigs are pure “Kids in the Hall” Chicken Lady, and I had to scroll through several times before they stopped pulling focus.
These are these clothes to wear when you want to make sure you don’t blend in the woodwork! I have a quirky outfit I sometimes wear when I know I want to have fun and feel up to being a live wire. I look at these and think, I’d have a great time in this dress, but I’d need a week of down time to recover.
Where’s the request form to be fit, tall, and rich?? I’ve lost it on my desk somewhere.
Ode to Granny’s vanity.
Dresses designed by Light Bright!
I love the prints, but only like some of the shapes.
Great clothes for Comic Con.
Very beautiful collection, except the Lipstick coat/blouse makes the model look like she’s got an erected penis. The last few looks are really gorgeous.
Pretty interesting, overall. Some of the patterns remind me of work by a Japanese painter I studied in college. A lot of this seems workable as funky separates…except that “Married to the Mob” lipstick sweater. No one can wear that but Amy Sedaris.
I want every thing but I’d wear quite a bit of it with a waist defining belt.
This is…interesting? I guess? Some of the tops are nice, but all those bottoms (especially the weird wrap skirts) have way too much stuff hanging around the crotchal area. And sometimes the styling works–when it’s just the hair and makeup–but when the glasses get added in, it goes straight to whackadoodle land.
and NOW for something COMPLETELY different…homage to monty python’s flying circus.
i think whoever designed this has been on a peyote inspired vision quest. i love it. i wonder if anyone will wear it.
Well, it’s definitely a fresh voice which I appreciate. I like his take on glamor with all of the ‘seriousness’ sucked out of it. Fun and glamor aren’t words usually paired together and while the results are mixed, I applaud the effort and in many cases, the result.
This was exactly what I needed to see on this rainy, gray, chilly day.
Love, love all of it.
This season has been chock full with depressing prints; that assessment can’t be applied here! I really love most of this collection (though, having had several male dogs, the lipstick print unfortunately reminds me of something else entirely!).
Wow, is this ever fun! All these clothes are belonging to me.
I love the bold colors in this collection. There are a few of these that I could wear with my coin belt and belly dance in. And I want those colorful arm cuffs/bracelets for my next costume.
Jesus Christ, that’s cool! I mean, I can’t even elaborate on how much I love this! Just consider me a ginormous fan of everything in this collection. I’d never wear any of it myself, but I could look at this all day.
The collection looks like Palm Beach threw up, and these fashions are the result.
I am surprised by how much I like these pieces! Totally out of my wheel well but there’s something so zingy and fresh about them.
There is some serious cuteness here. I couldn’t wear any of it, but I like it.
I was hoping I wasn’t the only one, who mostly loved this collection. Colors! It looks springy and summery. I could only love it more if it was more jewel colors on black.
Now THAT would have been a fun runway to watch. I can only hope the finale included all the models dancing wildly together and fringe flying everywhere.
This is one of the first collections I’ve really enjoyed this season. I’ve love to wear many of the pieces. Colors are great. Some of the fabrics look heavy, it’s hard to tell. I’m not sure about the fringe, but most of the shapes seem like they would fit many body types. Great collection.
I like so much about the textures, patterns, colors, …but a lot of the silhouettes appear bulky; either from the material or the way the print is used. I love the pale peachy sheer & silver dress, and the last 9 frames.
The colors are giving me LIFE.
And the hair. I neeeeeed those hairs.
