• Blair Sylvester

cute dress, terrible shoes, don’t care for the hair

  • RussellH88

I love Malin “Baby Girl” Akerman, but I don’t really like this on her.

    • Rhonda Shore

It’s not a good neckline for her, something about the proportions of the dress just don’t flatter her.

      • RussellH88

Yeah, I didn’t want to say it, but it makes her look thick.

        • Inês Martins

          Exactly what I thought!

        • Danielle

Yes! I can’t put my finger on exactly why, but it makes her top half look much larger than normal.

    • Me Again

      Totally appreciate the “Comeback” reference!

  • Diego!

Honey… no! That IS NOT your dress at all! Please send it back to Cristian with a “thank you, but no” note. On the other hand KILLER shoes!!! I love them! Fire your hairdresser too.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I think she would have looked better in the all white dress.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Its all too tight, from the hair to the smile to the dress. And those shoes? She doesn’t have the moxie for ‘em.

  • NMMagpie

Yes on the dress, no to the shoes, and rethink the hair. That is all.

  • Sobaika

Makes her look neckless. Tyra wouldn’t approve.

  • Karen Belgrad

I can picture Venus or Serena Williams rocking this look. On Malin, it just looks… thick.

    • Imasewsure

I actually hated the dress until you mentioned it on a Williams sister. It really would work for Serena in particular. Good pull!

  • Rand Ortega

What the hell are the “Environmental Media Awards”? Not to disparage environmental awareness, but what’s next? The “Can’t Swing A Dead Cat Without Hitting An Awards Show Because There’s So Many Awards Awards”?

    • demidaemon

      They already have that one.

    • decormaven

“I’d like to thank the Academy, and dear departed Fluffy…”

  • Mudskipper

The neckline is chocking her. Actually, more like strangling. And makes her neck look terribly short.

  • ewes_urn_aim

The earrings seem nice… other than that: hmmmm no.

    • marlie

      LURVE the earrings.

  • Tatiana Luján

The dress would look cool if she went up 2 sizes.

  • MilaXX

So very wrong. Wrong hair, wrong shoes. Wrong dress size. This dress deserves better.

  • MissFern

    not. cute.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Cute girl, summer dress, hiddy shoes, wrong hair. Tight dress, loose hair. Loose dress, tight hair.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Eh. It’s too sporty. I get what she was going for, but it still looks like she could change shoes and hit the tennis courts.

Is anyone watching Trophy Wife? I’ve caught it On Demand this weekend, while I was down with the funk. I have pretty low standards for sitcoms, and this one certainly isn’t stick in your side, kind of funny, but it does have a fairly true voice to how families communicate and what life as blended family can be like. If you’re home sick and looking to kill some time between naps, give it a shot.

    • marlie

      Feel better soon!

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Thanks lady. October is typically a flare up month for me and crappy lungs. Sure enough, a simple head cold from last week, has migrated and I’m drowning on dry land. I got the good meds today (steroids and codeine laced cough syrup) so I’ll be feeling much improved my this time tomorrow.

        • Rand Ortega

Feel better, Gorgeous! Your snark is desperately needed!

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Thank you Puddin’. I am certainly off my game.

          • Rand Ortega

Virtual hugs, a cashmere throw & homemade Jamaican chicken soup from LA. Speedy recovs.

  • SugarSnap108

Is it weird that the Environmental Media Awards is being sponsored by CARS? I think someone else could rock this dress. I’ll stop there.

  • Lori

Both the dress and the hair are way too tight.

  • titaness25

She looks oddly square from the front, and I’m fairly sure she isn’t at all. I love those shoes though.

  • Stella Zawistowski

Something is off on the proportions. Maybe it’s because she has a chest and the model doesn’t, so it ends up looking oddly short-waisted on her.

  • Nariya

Lady’s got a killer figure, but this is giving her weirdly broad and round shoulders, a straight waist and no hips. That hem’s kind of making her legs shorter, too. She doesn’t look awful, but it’s kind of amazing how many disservices an innocuous little white dress is managing to do her. The pulled-back-sweaty-hair also sucks. I hope no one paid for that. Mail this to someone with a more… i dunno, delicate? build, like Zoe, Halle or even Gwyneth Paltrow.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

    “Look at me. I’m edgy!”

  • Glam Dixie

Adorable dress, but it’s not HER dress. On another note, my daughters create that exact hair do on a daily basis, only better, with an elastic that they pull off of their wrist. Also, hate the booties with it.

  • nannypoo

It’s way too tight and she’s way too curvy. And I hate her hair.

  • GillianHolroyd

Y’know, if it’s too small, just say no. Don’t put on a sports bra in an effort to squeeze into it.

  • Sunraya

It looks like a tennis dress – I don’t like it. The shoes Siriano had with it were cute – these are horrendous!!!

  • sarah jacobs

it makes her look like a square. A bad look for her. It’s not that good a dress to begin with, There is too much going on with no discernible reason.

  • Synnae

The neckline and top half is making her look broader than she is, because she has boobs and the whole thing fits really tight. She also runs relatively straight (hips/waist) and needs more than a black waist band to create the illusion of shape.

No criticism on her body type btw, mine is quite similar, it just means you stay away from certain designs if you wish to look your best.

Other that that, while I like the idea of the asymmetric skirt, this dress would be more flattering on various body types if it were to come down to the knee and the black waist band was below the boobs.

As for the shoes – this dress did not need booties, especially not ones that made her feet look like hooves.

  • AlisonS

I understand wanting to be photographed in the latest and greatest, but I can’t sit here in tights, a corduroy skirt, and a long sleeve shirt and sign off on this totally out of season look, let alone pick it apart like a good Bitter Kitten.

  • poggi

She never seems to get is right. She’s pretty and has a great figure and nice smile, but she never seems to just really nail it on the carpet. This is yet another not enough, too much, not quite right look in a long line of them.

  • kipper

Wow .. epic fail – I think she must have lost some sort of bet.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1180174329 Elizabeth Phillips

    No.

  • marlie

GAWD I hate those shoes. They need to be set on fire. The dress is fine (but YAY, Christian Siriano!), but I really dislike how she usually goes for such severe hair; I don’t think it’s flattering on her at all. Plus, her makeup never seems to do right by her features.

    • charlotte

The shoes look like they belong to the wife of Dracula.

  • MaggieMae

    Tennis! But not! Hooves! Awful!

  • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

    Mess

  • Maluca

I like it though. She looks like a rich bitch.

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

Too tight. The shoes are hiddy!

  • alyce1213

I seriously dislike the dress, and it doesn’t fit at all. Unfierce.

  • BuffaloBarbara

Not one of Siriano’s best dresses, and definitely not the best dress for this girl. Not sure who she should pack it up for. Daisy Buchanan, maybe? The severe hair combined with the severe dress… just not doing any favors.

  • gsk241

No. Especially not with those clodhoppers.

  • boweryboy

All around ugly. Plus wrong shoes.

  • crash1212

Honey, that is NOT your dress and even if it was, it wouldn’t go with those shoes. Nothing here is working.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

“Come here and let me SPANK you with my tennis racket!”

  • conniemd

Nothing says fall event like a sleeveless mostly white dress from a resort collection.

  • demidaemon

This dress is weird and totally not what I think of when I think “Christian Siriano.” The shoes are awful, which is par for the course these days, unfortunately.

  • sienna elm

It’s a tennis dress with an interesting hemline – not good enough for a red (green) carpet! The shoes rock though…what a cool heel!!

  • LaSylphide

Not very flattering. Shoes are interesting, but how do you walk in them?

  • Trickytrisha

Just because you can design a shoe to be “different” doesn’t mean you should.

  • Lily-Rygh

I think I hate every single thing about this look. Well, her makeup is fine. But I hate the hair, the dress, and those HORRIBLE shoes. Ugh.

  • jw_ny

cute dress. wrong season. wrong shoes. wrong hair.

  • Aurumgirl

She would have looked so much better in the other white dress. Oh well.

  • Sarah Caponigro

    So much no.

  • quiltrx

I know nothing about her other than what I see here…but she always looks so tightly-wound. I don’t think I’d like her at a party.

  • Joanie

that would have worked with anything other than the booties. and with softer hair

  • kathrineb

Hate the shoes. I don’t know if a dark lip is that flattering on her.

  • http://missbethg.wordpress.com Beth Ann

It’s too weird seeing a summer dress on the carpet as we’re getting into the colder part of fall.
