I want to love this – because I like Liv so much – but it’s… problematic.
A. MORE Black on the runway.
B. The skirt reads as really, really dressy, and the top/sweater reads as really casual, and they don’t seem to work together.
C. Her hair is a little TOO casual, “I just ran out of the house.”
I her makeup, though.
It’s like you read my mind and organized by thoughts in a list format. Thank you.
Glad I could help.
Two great tastes that taste terrible together. I like the top and I lurve the skirt (although it’s hitting her at an awkward point) but put them together and I has a sad. Oh well, at least she’s always got that hair.
Typo: You wrote “Live” Tyler in the title.
I really love the skirt.
Why would you even think a Carmen Miranda-in-mourning skirt and an Empire Records top go together? I respect the fact that it hugs her stealth booty very nicely (heeeeeyyyy Liv- I see you girl, and I ain’t mad), but this looks like she was in a changing room and they thrust her in front of a logo wall while she was putting on another outfit.
Trying on the skirt in the store, while still wearing her own top? Yep.
I agree- the top is too casual for the skirt. I’m sad- she’s such a striking woman, and this look doesn’t do her justice.
LOVE that movie!
It’s certianly ass-tastic, that’s for sure and she knows it.
lol, I actually said “ass-tacular” outloud when scrolling thru the pictures.
That’s my favorite part of the whole look. It wasn’t very steep competition, though.
Liv, you are gorgeous, but this is not your skirt.
The length might have worked with different shoes and another top…the top doesn’t go w/the skirt. Her butt does look superb in it though…
Did anyone else just get up out of their chair and start doing squats? Thank jeebus me and my flat ass work from home.
The length is awkward, but the ass is glorious.
Looks like that skirt’s side seam got mangled during alterations.
Or else the skirt is a little too tight.
Quite. Wonder how easy to walk in?
I shudder to think what that plain black shirt must have cost. Love the skirt but think it could have used a more fitted, less “office-appropriate” top.
That is just a weird-ass skirt.
Love the skirt but the sweater is bringing it down. I wonder how a sweater that picks up the blue in the skirt but less heavy would have looked.
Liv Tyler has figured out her face and it always looks gorgeous.
I really miss the luminous Arwen skin. To me her make-up gives her an oily look.
This is the famous-person version of “I’m running late for work and will just throw on whatever’s nearest.”
I wish she would have dressed this look up a bit more. I can live with the top and hair, but I feel the skirt needs some more dramatic lift with some killer high heels, and a pair of dangly earrings.
edit: I think believe the heels would help improve the proportions issue with the skirt, too.
Casual top and dust ruffle do not a celebrity outfit make. Liv, use your powers for good!
Is this fashion free Thursday? No one seems to begetting it quite right today. I like this skirt, but it doesn’t go with that top at all.
Because nothing quite says sexy like a giant striped a–.
I am just glad to see her, its been awhile
My sister!!!!! We were born on the same day in the same hospital! That being said, adorable skirt, functional top, but they don’t go together at all. It really does look like she just pulled some pieces from her closet, picked a pair of black pumps and a clutch and was all “I’m ready!”
She’s beautiful but she’s never been able to dress well.
I’m kind of loving this in a “mere mortals, don’t try this at home” kind of way.
It seems like she’s fighting herself here: she wants to show off the booty, but is also feeling self-conscious so she throws on a baggy shirt. Should have went a size up on the skirt and wore a better fitted shirt and this could have been a great look!
The color combo and fabric sheen of the skirt is something that I usually associate with those HGTV home makeover shows – it looks like it was stitched together from throw pillows or a window treatment or something.
That beige stripe is placed at exactly the wrong place.
I know. I had a moment of horror that it was bare skin.
The top and skirt don’t mesh well together. But her ass looks fantastic.
From the neck up – absolutely gorgeous. I love the skirt, but not with that top…it’s too casual. Don’t hate the shoes with this skirt. LOVE the purse.
The skirt makes her butt look great, but all in all, this is not a successful outfit for me. The top and the skirt are in conflict, the top makes her look hulky and short of neck and the skirt is venturing into hobble territory. It’s a big NO for me.
Dear LORD is that an ugly skirt!!! Did she fire Rachel Zoe? Because she would NOT have signed off on this look.
Bad. The skirt is way too tight and the tan stripe makes her butt look huge.
For some reason this outfit reminds me of trying to get dressed with a hellacious hangover – head hurts too much to find the right black top so just throw on something comfortable and hope no one notices.
Oh dear, these two items really do not belong together. They both look fabulous on her, but I’m guessing she picked the relaxed sweater because she wasn’t thrilled with whatever the skirt was doing to her tummy area. Which is not something any starlet wants people guessing.
I seriously hate that skirt, but DAMN! it shows her assets off nicely.
Still, looks like a goth teen covering up a froofy dress that her mom bought with a dour black sweater.
You know, I love this kind of look, casual + dressy.
Like a Chanel jacket worn with jeans or a t-shirt worn with a ball gown skirt. It’s easy and looks expensive. I’d throw this on in a heartbeat if I had the chance and wear it out to dinner.
She looks gorgeous.
Not feeling the sweater but her ass looks amazing in that skirt.
Oh, dear. If an outfit makes the lovely Liv look hippy, it’s certainly not for me.
There’s a lot of skirt talk here, but did you see the BAG?? Sigh.
I must say, it’s a comfort to know that beautiful Ladystars have big butts too.
I think she just needs a necklace.
That skirt is everything. Why would you pair it with a 1. disproportionately baggy 2. casual 3. black sweater?
Speaking of “bitch don’t age”!
I really love that skirt–and it’s not something I would have expected to love. But the top just really doesn’t go with it. She’s still beautiful though!
I know, right? I’m beginning to think she actually is an elf. She just does not age.
Maybe if it had been a pencil skirt…
I would think that the tan stripe around the hips should be parallel to the ground, instead of slanted downward. Whatever direction it goes, it looks kinda nasty because the stitching is problematic. These lines on the stripe need to meet perfectly because they jump out.
The shapes of these two things together make her look disproportionately long waisted. Which is a shame, because the skirt is gorgeous & so is the woman.
oh girl. this looks like something I would wear when I’m home visiting my family and we’re going to church and I have to borrow a skirt from my sister. (It’s, unfortunately, not a complement.)
IT looks like she has either gained a little weight and is hiding it, or dare I say, hiding a baby bump!!
This is not the first time I’ve seen her throw something from her “off days” drawer over or under a glam outfit. Clearly she works out in that top.
