Kerry Washington in Vince Camuto at the 2013 Variety Power of Women Event

Posted on October 07, 2013

Miss Kerry takes time in her busy poledancing schedule to send a message, which reads as follows:

“Scandal” star Kerry Washington attends Variety’s 5th Annual Power of Women Luncheon Presented by Lifetime in a Vince Camuto dress accessorized with Christian Louboutin shoes, a Nancy Gonzalez clutch, a Movado watch, and Bettina Javaheri, Dana Rebecca Designs, Ocnarf Sairutsa, Soffer Ari, and Joan Hornig jewelry.

Vince Camuto Dotted Peplum Sheath Dress

“Hold up on the pregnancy rumors, bitches.”

Not that she can’t be pregnant and wear a dress with a defined waist (especially a high waist and full skirt, which can be pretty deceptive); just that it’s a delicious way to keep people guessing, if you’re the kind of devious gal who knows how to send messages in her clothes. If her next few outfits look suspiciously loose or bumpy around the midsection, we’ll know she’s playing us all like a fiddle.

And even if she’s not, this is all really cute. Loving those shoes (even if we’re not sure they go).

I like the shoes with this. Not expected but not focus pulling (and not overly matchy). She is a goddess.

    • charlotte

I want that dress. Too bad it’s sold out.

      • Sara Brams-Miller

Ditto. This is totally work-appropriate with the right jacket or sweater. LOVE

    • Random Compliments

I think she’s definitely pregnant, not because of her body, but because her face has changed. It could be bad Botox/filler though.

ETA – Yea, that picture where she’s smiling gives it away for me. My face did that weird stretchy thing too when I was pregnant with my twins.

      • alyce1213

I know they start young, but she’s really too young for Botox. She’s preggers.

      • MilaXX

Agree, she’s got the preggo face spread going on.

      • Rand Ortega

        HAHAHAHA!
        You guys are awesome!

      • Coleen

        TOTAL preggo face.

    • kimmeister

Pssst, Nicole Kidman – this is who can wear a black dress with gold circles.

I’m loving the dress, don’t think the shoes go, and think she looks better with some sort of bang (preferably sideswept).

    • Lily-Rygh

Her hair looks really weird here…strangely flattened on top of her head. But the dress is gorgeous on her!

      • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

Yes. She needs some volume up on top.

      • Not applicable

That’s what’s been bugging me! the pulled back bangs. No likey!

    • hughman

The print looks like an air-conditioner filter. But the dress shape is cute!

    • marlie

The shoes definitely DON’T go, but I like them. And she looks great in this dress.

    • Lori

Where’s the peplum on this “dotted peplum sheath dress”? Wherever it is she looks really good in this, even though the shoes definitely don’t go.

      • kimmeister

Ha! Maybe there’s actually a short pencil skirt hidden beneath the full skirt, so that the whole outer skirt is the peplum.

        • Lori

LOL. I now totally want that to be true.

          • alyce1213

I just went to the link for the dress and there’s no mention of anything underneath, just “a pleated skirt for extra volume and a cinched waistband.” So the copywriter who came up with “sheath” and “peplum” is quite confused.

Kerry Washington, actress, and graduate from the Jennifer Aniston school of pregnancy speculations PR.

      • demidaemon

Oh, I think she is a professor there because she is clearly doing a better job than a graduate (and Jennifer Aniston, as well, I would say).

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Well, that remains to be seen. After all, this is only round one (that I know of) for Ms. Washington. Sure, she is excelling, but can she work it effectively every time she has something to promote?

    • Imasewsure

Hate the hair but love everything else. The length of the dress is even better on her than the tall lanky model for once too!

    • Glam Dixie

Adorable dress, do not like her hair like that, at all.

    • NoveltyRocker

Ms. Kerry’s natural waist doesn’t ever seem to be where a dress’s waist hits. Why oh why does she (or anyone) favor these toddlerish silhouettes?? Really love the print and interesting shoes though.

    • Mismarker

She is pregnant. No doubt about it. I’ve been binge viewing Scandal over the last several days and her face is so very different here. She is gorgeous but, really, Olivia Pope could wear a white Stetson all damned day and her hair would never look this bad.

    • Cubana Loca

The shoes don’t go but I LOVE THEM. The dress looks weird across the bust. I vote yes on the preggo.

    • Trickytrisha

She’s tending to dresses that are short waisted lately. I do like the silhouette on her a lot, and this dress is pretty darned spiffy, as are the shoes. What isn’t so great is the hair pulled back like that, giving her a long face because of the very tall forehead. Whatev… she’s earning her spot as fashion royalty now.

      • Monabel

What’s wrong with a long face? Not everyone is oval.

    • bertkeeter

Her hair style need a little fluf uptop. Seriously!

    • Jacquelyn

      That dress is adorable.

    • nannypoo

I do not like this high-waisted thing that everyone seems to be doing. It just looks like the dress is too short in the bodice.

    • e jerry powell

No, the shoes don’t go, and they’re still FREAKING FABULOUS.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

The wings of hair next to a very flat and high forehead read Klingon to me. Which is unfortunate because I LOVE her and I think she looks fantastic aside from that hair.

    • Diego!

I like it very much, tough she could be still hiding a pregnancy with that type of dress (?)

    • boweryboy

She looks fabulous. I love how she’s rocking a dress not only real women can wear but also can afford.

    • miscorrections

I’d like to use her to wrap several presents.

    • Krysta

I wish this trend of dresses with visible waist seaming and no belt would go away. SEND HOLLYWOOD BELTS, THEIR NEED IS DESPERATE!

Also, I really hate that hair.

    • Aidan B

After looking at these pictures, I’m now counting down the years until she plays Michelle Obama in a biopic.

    • AzSportsGirl

My eye is twitching at the bad pattern mattching on the waist seam. A belt would help cover it up.

      • AzSportsGirl

ANd the hem — I feel like I’m leaning downhill

    • Garcia Loca

If I were a dude, I’d be all, “Miss Kerry — is this dress in Braille?” :)

    • Qitkat

Somewhat cute, but how odd to be inspired by a furnace filter.

    • Alloy Jane

Love the dress and makeup, hate the hair. Not really registering the shoes, no positive or negative feelings but they make me think of Tauren for some reason…

    • Meredith_P

Tummy starts below the waist, boys. She could totally be pregnant in that dress, which is quite cute BTW.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

“Not that she can’t be pregnant and wear a dress with a defined waist (especially a high waist and full skirt, which can be pretty deceptive)”

        • Meredith_P

Sorry, take off points for skimming. :-) Love that dress!

    • Cindy Bartlett Zigler

Dress is cute, but the pattern’s not matching! Grrr… Also, does no one else see that her foundation is too pale for her skin tone? Looking a bit ashy/washed out. Agree on the shoes – they don’t go with the dress, but they are nice.

    • EEKstl

Love the shoe choice. Different and unexpected in a good way. LOVE the dress.

    • Rick Aiello

Love the dress, hate the hair. Hate. The. Hair.
