Katy Perry in Fausto Puglisi at L’Avenue in Paris

Posted on October 02, 2013

Serious Katy is Serious.

Katy Perry has lunch at the L’Avenue restaurant in Paris in a Fausto Puglisi dress paired with a Chanel bag.

Fausto Puglisi Resort 2014 Collection/Model: Laura Kampman

We’re really digging Fashion Bitch Katy. Don’t get us wrong. We’ll always have a soft spot in our hearts for the more cartoon-y version of her, but she’s really giving us the very best fuck-you-I’m-chic lately.

We think we probably would have loved it with the coat, but clearly, that just wasn’t serious enough for Serious Katy. Besides, it would have looked too coordinated. As it is, it’s right on the line.

I love the shoes. I’m also impressed that the blouse fits her so well. If you *have* to wear thousands of £ worth of clothes out to lunch, this is a good way to do it. Sceptical on the topknot though.

The hair makes her look like the world’s chic-est administrative assistant.

    • Laurie Landry

Not digging the mirrored glasses but everything else looks great!

      • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

I’ll take them off her no problem :)

    • Tracy_Flick

I feel like the skirt might be a half-inch too tight. Otherwise, she looks great.

      • Monabel

        At least.

      • MGMcD

And the blouse is an inch too loose. Not my favorite Katy.

    • decormaven

This needs the coat and the belt shown in the designer’s look. As shown, it’s sort of 70’s shirtwaist.

    • MilaXX

      love it!

    • Garcia Loca

I would give this one a WERQ over yesterday’s Chanel getup.

    • Jacquelyn

She’s working the naked shoes better than other places where she’s worn similar types. For me, the print is an eyesore and both pieces together look way tooooo much. The mirror shades make her very “chic bitch” which I think is what she’s going for.

    • aeb1986

I love the overall chicness of the look but the sunglasses don’t go, they look like $4 sunglasses you buy at a rest stop

    • hughman

      “Miss Perry, please take a memo… “

      • Imasewsure

Don Draper’s next wife… ummm I mean secretary?

    • Imasewsure

Love this (sans the glasses and the tight tight bun). Wish it was in my budget and wheelhouse!

    • Miss WKS

      skirt’s too tight. can’t breathe.

    • mhleta

She looks really put together here. Chic and not at all cartoony. I’d have chosen different sunglasses, but I’m sort of fanatically loyal to Ray Bans as a personal preference. Very limited, I know, but I can’t help it.

Meh. Not feeling it. Not sure she is either.

With the glasses and light pink printed dress, it could veer into “hipster funtimes (if funtimes weren’t so ironic)”, but it looks so modern, clean, and stylish…kudos, Katsy.

    • quiltrx

I REALLY wish she had worn the coat!

    • bellafigura1

Love this, hate the hair … again.

    • sunflower

I don’t think the silhouette on this is very flattering for her. Also, I’m not loving how severe the hair is. Maybe a ponytail or a messier bun would be better? Or maybe I’m just traumatized from my many years of having to wear a high bun for ballet classes

    • DesertDweller79

Don’t love the print. Actually, the coat is my favorite piece of the ensemble in the original photo. Wish she would have worn that with something else. But, she does look very polished.

    • GillianHolroyd

The print has been clipped from a Dover book on ornaments and borders, the skirt is too tight but that coat would’ve mercifully covered it all and the result would’ve been tres chic.

      • imakeart

Thought Dover when I saw it, too!

    • alyce1213

Must be a business lunch. This is no-nonsense Katy.
Do they all eat at the same restaurant?

    • UsedtobeEP

What did she do, have a birthday with a zero on it and decide to start dressing like a grown-up? I like it, but I kinda miss the Smurf dress.

    • RoseJB

      Needs the coat.

    • bertkeeter

Sorry bit if this was just an earthling walking down The street there’s nothing that would make one take a second look!

    • largishbearishAtlish

to quote Patrick Stewarts character in Jeffery “Oh get her….”

    • marlie

I love this – I think she looks great here. And I think I NEED those shoes.

    • LaSylphide

Love the dress, but adore the coat. Too bad she left it out.

    • ankali

I think the clothes are really unflattering and almost dowdy on her. I also don’t think her hairstyle is doing her face justice.

    • demidaemon

Oh, Katy, I love you both as cartoon Katy and serious Katy, but we really need to have a talk about your taste in men. It’s horrid. I think you need your palate checked.

    • judybrowni

Dress looks like The Limited circa 1990, which doesn’t fit on top, but, hey, it was on sale, and she needed something to wear to the office.

Glasses: I hafta agree with someone below: $4 gas station lenses.

      Shoes pretty.

    • SorayaS

Desperately needs the coat- no fab or even chic in this look without it. The fine black pattern dulls the pink to a cheap-looking salmon and it just looks dowdy.
Who’s the mega hottie getting out of the car after her?

    • Samuel Joesph Donovan

This just looks cheap to me. She looks like she’s wearing something from a H&M sale bin.

Katy, there are just some arenas you can’t beat Gaga (actually, you’re pretty much only ahead on the Hot 100) and fashion bitch is pretty much only second to vocal prowess in said arenas.

    • kathrineb

I think this is a more flattering version of what I saw on her in the last TLO post. Compliments her feminine figure in a much better way.

    • http://trooperschaf.blogspot.de/ TrooperSchaf

I love her when she’s channelling her inner mean teacher with her styling, but I am no fan of the fabric and the color…

    • MannahattaMamma

I dunno but the security guy behind her bending down, on the right? A)Jake Gyllenhall; B) quite the hottish security detail. Goes beautifully with her dress.

    • Jessica Freeman

I love and hate this…the dress is great, but that pattern is not.

    • Eric Stott

It looks as if the secretary got out of the limo first

    • Erica_Vuitton

RATS I loved those glasses yesterday but now I hate them due to the reflective lenses. I actually really like the outfit but like I’ve said in the previous Katy posts… I miss candy coated Katy which was so much more original than what she’s been showing us lately. Even VMA’s leopard & grill wearing Katy seemed more authentic than this Selma Hayek drag she’s been sportin in Paris.

    • H2olovngrl

I have been loving her whole fashion evolution! She really has this game down pat.

    • Danielle

I could bow down and kiss that Chanel.

    • Rhonda Shore

Is it even possible for Katy to not look fabulous?

    • kimmeister

It might be the angle of the camera shot, but those shoes make it look like her feet are switched to the wrong legs.

    • stubbornthoughts

Love this on her more than the WERQ outfit post.

    • Mary Featherstone

Love the outfit but the sock bun needs to leave now.

    • JaCory Deon

She looks a bit frumpy to me actually here…she’s a tad too thick limbed for such a constricting ensemble. Or perhaps it’s the Paris context which makes her look a bit off? I don’t know.

    • E2_Remote

I do the up-down and think yep, pretty good. But wait, those shoes. D’oh! Ankle straps. Why? What is wrong with a perfectly good pair of pumps these days? Like what the model is wearing? Those damned straps make her beautiful legs look like stumps.

    • Jaime

Love the shape, loathe the print.

    • Crystal

Oh dear god. I love this.

    • webslice33

this is what i love about katy..she is like a chameleon..

    • livesarah

I know she’s old enough for it, but this screams schoolgirl *trying* to work a rich-bitch look
