Julianna Margulies in Narciso Rodriguez at “The Counselor” Screening

Posted on October 10, 2013

We… think? We like this?

“The Good Wife” star Julianna Margulies attends “The Counselor” screening in New York City in Narciso Rodriguez.

Narciso Rodriguez Resort 2014 Collection/Model: Charon Cooijmans

It does sort of look like a fitted track suit, but it also calls to mind a hundred different ’70s science fiction costumes, from Logan’s Run to Space: 1999, which means we’re inclined to think fondly of it.

But really, it’s sharp and tailored and we like the way it feels bold but practical for her at the same time. The bottom half is so hard to see it’s impossible to judge but that top is really sharp and suits her perfectly.

It looks like workout clothes, but they’re AMAZING looking workout clothes.

      • Sobaika

The ponytail makes it really look like a gym outfit. That’s my only quibble.

        • Lori

This is my thought. I think the hair is the issue, not the outfit.

        • Tracy_Flick

I was just about to say that some big hair might be nice here. At least, bigger than a sleek pony.

          • H2olovngrl

Yes! That is some seriously severe hair, when her natural waves and curls would’ve really softened this up a bit.

        • tereliz

Yes. Take down the ponytail. Then it would seem less like gym clothes. It could be styled more moto with funkier hair/jewelry/makeup.

    • Blair Sylvester

I wish it didn’t have the seaming on the bust but overall i really like the look

    • boweryboy

Love the jacket, and love the Space: 1999 reference.

      • DaringMiss

I *loved* Space 1999. So nice to know that I am not alone!

    • Jaeda Laurez

I love it- it’s clean, flattering, and totally Federation standard.

      • H2olovngrl

        Nerd! ;-)

    • http://www.soundsessential.com/ Malice Grant

me can have jacket? no, seriously, pretty please? My Moonbase Alpha closet demands it get inside it NOW!

      • BrooklynBomber

        No, ME want!!!

    • RussellH88

Am I the only one that thinks that she looks insanely European? She looks like she should be smoking a cigarette and speaking French.

      • marlie

And that’s a bad thing (except for the cigarette part)?

        • RussellH88

No, I never said it was a bad thing.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

All clothes look better on Julianna Margulies. It’s a fact.

      • RussellH88

She is a gorgeous woman and she can seemingly work a number of looks, like the sleek modern look in these pictures, to red carpet gowns, to the everyday office wear that she wears on The Good Wife.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Oh yeah, I like it. She’s got kind of a Rich Bitch things happening. But the nice kind of rich bitch. The one who gives a lot of her time and money to worthy causes. While looking fabulous and effortlessly well put together and leaving her big diamonds at home.

      • H2olovngrl

Only without bragging about how she gives so much of her time and money to worthy causes!

    • NYCGlamourpuss

Is it a pants suit or a longer fitted skirt? I can’t tell, but it almost doesn’t matter – I really love it on her!

      • mlle

Looks like pants to me, but it’s very hard to tell.

    • mommyca

She looks wonderful! and Logan’s run? Loved it!!!!

    • filmcricket

Not wild about the pants, they look like kind of bog standard black jeans that are a different black from the boots and the top. I wish she’d let her hair a bit looser and curlier, and maybe a shade more red in the lippy? J’ADORE the top, though.

    • GillianHolroyd

LOVE the jacket. All this needs is a bit more color on her face and slightly less severe hair. That jacket looks insanely good on her.

      • TrixieConQueso

A little blush would go a long way.

    • decormaven

Love the intergalatic reference- the jacket is outstanding. But for the love of Mike, don’t the PR people let stylists know the color scheme for these step and repeats? If they don’t, somebody needs to get busy. This is a great look, but we’re missing its full impact due to the dark background. Details, people!

      • demidaemon

I ask that question all the time. I truly wonder if there is a good answer.

    • another_laura

I really like this but wish I could see it against something other than a black backdrop.

    • hughman

The thing about this jacket to me is that it’s INSANELY complicated while looking deceptively simple. From the zipper to the seaming and pieced construction. Wow. It brings to mind Geoffrey Beene in that way. Love.

      • alyce1213

It molds and flatters the body so beautifully, a structural wonder.

    • teensmom99

You are totally right but it also looked like a 1950s suit. Lots of echos and looks chic.

    • Carleenml

      Oh, that jacket is killer.

    • amanda siegelson

the boots are flamingly hot… the jacket is fantastic. i love the entire look – head to toe. brava!

    • mjude

      very logan’s run

    • anotherkate

I like it, I love it, I want some more of it. Seriously, I want the hell out of that jacket!

    • NoveltyRocker

Yes! Sharp and tailored and suits her perfectly, totally agree. And I think it’s cool if more clothes start looking all science fiction because aren’t we well into the future those films foresaw by now?

    • sagecreek

My only quibble is the overlong sleeves.

      • marlie

I love sleeves that length. And as a girl with freakishly long arms, they’re incredibly difficult to come by.

        • sagecreek

Hee! As a short woman, that’s how everything hits me. You can’t believe how much time/money I spend on tailoring.

          Different strokes :)

    • MoHub

If only this had turned up on the runway for the PR Heidi Klum/New Balance challenge!

    • poggi

I think the lighter colored pants of the model make it less track-suit like. But I still like it to since it’s such a great, fitted, sharp little jacket.

    • Eclectic Mayhem

Much love for the Space:1999 reference, that’s exactly what I was getting from it too! If I had the figure and the $$$ I’d wear this like a shot.

    • In_Stitches

I wish the taupe and black were reversed. As is, it kind of screams ” big blocks of torso and wrist”; I think having the stronger color on the shoulder would be a more flattering silhouette for most women.

    • Judy_S

It looks so good on her, so perfectly fitted. Better than on the model, just because there’s more to fit.

    • Frank_821

I actually think it gives off a modern Alan Hughs era Emma Peel vibe. You could envision a young Diana Rigg rocking this with sophisticated ease

    • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

I love it and I love the fact that, even though she doesn’t wear pants on the RC very often, it’s so very her.

    • mmebam

I prefer the white pants on the model.

    • Lizzyisi

She looks like the attorneys I sit in meetings with all the time. The ones who are trying to blind one another with their engagement rings across the conference table. Which is to say I need that suit.

    • appliquer

She looks great in this type of outfit – clean, sharp lines.

    • Lilithcat

See, I don’t see workout clothes there. Of course, that may be because I don’t wear workout clothes!

What I do see is a chic, professional jacket, one that I would have been happy to wear to court in my pre-retirement lawyering days.

    • YoungSally

She is tiny in person — but there is just something about the horizontal seaming placement (and it’s not wrong by any means) that makes me want to push her boobs up or down slightly — they are peaking in the wrong spot.

    • Ginny Ellsworth

It reminds me of Michelle’s runway looks from last season. I really like it and she looks sharp!

    • Nazzzy

Needs stronger makeup, but I like it as it is well enough.

    • lobsterlen

Get out of my head before I read a word of the post I was thinking, “interesting reminds me of Logan’s Run.”

    • http://smalltownbigwardrobe.com/ Catherine

I don’t get how Penelope was slammed for looking like she was going to a board meeting, and this is permissible. Seems like total business (cute business, but still business) to me.

    • jilly_d

Out of the way, bitches. Mama wants that jacket.

    • BrooklynBomber

Love it! At least the top, which is so sharp, and fits her beautifully. I might love it even more if she wasn’t standing in front of a black background and I could see the pants.

    • MilaXX

I like. Surprised to see a lady celeb wearing jeans at a movie screening, but this looks works.

      • marlie

I thought about that too at first, especially since the guystars usually get slammed for doing it, but the difference is that she’s wearing jeans as part of a really “put together” outfit.

The guystars usually look like they just rolled out of bed.

    • Tatiana Luján

      I want that jacket.

    • marlie

I’d cut a bitch for that jacket. LOVE. IT. I think I like the rest of the look, but I hate that you can barely see it.

    • crash1212

Julianne very rarely gets it wrong. This is perfection to my eye. Totally chic.

    • amian3

Scroll down fug. I loved it until I got to the boots.

They might work with the pants outside of the boots or knee high boots with pants tucked in.

The jacket and simple trousers are fantastic.

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Man, I LOVE her outfit. The sleeves being just a tiny bit long really makes it.

    • alyce1213

Love it. Sleek, chic and tastefully sexy.

    • ThaliaMenninger

      Love it. Casual chic.

    • SugarSnap108

I love it. Sure, it’s a little sporty, but she looks great — partly because the clothes actually fit.

    • elemspbee

Sharp indeed. the jacket is slimming and elongating, flattering, not flattening. we like!

    • Nonmercisansfacon

This is one outfit I am actually willing to copy from head to fabulously fierce boots. Now, how to I get that jacket without having to sell an organ on the black market?

    • joything

      I like it, too! Gimme!

    • RoseJB

I don’t like her hair pulled back. Why won’t she just wear it like Alicia Florick?

    • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

This is so Olivia Pope.. :)

    • demidaemon

This looks awfully heavy to me. Was she really really cold that day or what?

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

I like everything except the split color of the sleeves–that’s just too weird looking for me. Maybe if just the cuffs had been beige it would have been less jarring.

    • Lily-Rygh

I pretty much love this look for her. She looks comfortable and confident, and while the pictures are too dark for me to know if I’m totally sold on the footwear, it seems to be a spot-on deployment of ladypants.

    • bhl_1123

This is yet another case of needing to know the backdrop colors prior to the event. The main problem I see with the outfit is that she blends right into the background–its like celebuflage.

    • ThesisMonkey

I usually agree with the BKs, but this is a big yawn to me. I can’t get over the gym/REI aesthetic.

    • VioletFem

It actually, kind of looks like something Alicia Florrick would wear.

    • dschubba

Don’t love the boots, but I’m here for everything else.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

my first thought was stewardess on a starship. and while i am so bored with all the neutral collections recently, i for some reason enjoy this odd combination. the beautiful and unusual seaming in the portion which appears to be natural unbleached linen is intriguing.
