Jessica Paré at the Chloé Los Angeles Fashion Show & Dinner

Posted on October 30, 2013

Good lord, girl. Did you melt a crayon in the microwave and then smear it on your lips? Did you just eat a jar of raspberry preserves with your hands tied behind your back? Or a whole box of popsicles? We’re asking.

“Mad Men” star Jessica Paré attends Chloé Fashion Show & Dinner in Los Angeles, California.

Chloé Resort 2014 Collection

Those lips looks scary.

The dress, on the other hand is cute. Digging the purse; not really loving the shoes.  Kinda love the jewelry too. But it all fades away because of those crusty-looking lips.

    Mirandasings realness.

  • Jessica Freeman

All the colors here were the wrong choice. The earrings, certainly that lipstick. Everything seems entirely too severe with that dress.

    • nowlo

Yeah, I really like the accessories, but not with this dress.

I think she’s trying to go for Goth Bride.

    • Diego!

hahahahahahaaa comment of the day! BRAVO! *gives a standing ovation*

  • bellafigura1

The dress is too big and it’s kind of casual but fancy, so confuses me. And the lips are horrendous, I’m so glad I’m not up close to them.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Ironically, this is how I feel like I look whenever I wear any kind of color on my lips. I’ve seen lots of this 90s feeling burgundy lip around and it’s a harsh mistress to command. What I find most odd, is that this is weirdly giving me a Jessica Pare gives her best January Jones impression.

    • Sobaika

Try a glossy stain to combat the 90s throwback vibe. I don’t know your coloring but YSL has a dark fuchsia one that’s been my fall go-to.

      • ChaCha_70

Addicted to both the YSL rouge volupte shine and volupte sheer candy. Beautiful colors and feel great on the lips.

    • 3boysful

The close-up to me is Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        I can see that.

    • Rhonda Shore

those 90s “vamp” colors need to be matte and done w/a careful lip liner.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

        And very well-exfoliated lips!

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

If you are ever suckered and/or forced to attend a Mary Kaye party, your easy way out is their Satin Lips kit. A gentle, creamy exfoliate, and soothing after balm. Divinity!

          • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I don’t think we have Mary Kaye in England! But I like the Body Shop lip exfoliator.

Clinique’s Black Honey is a cult fave for a good reason– it’s beautiful on everyone I’ve seen wear it! Give it a try- it’s a sheer, very pretty blackberry color.

  • Donyelle

Tim Burton has a cosmetics line. huh…

    • epenthesis

Dang, you beat me to that one.

      • Donyelle

i felt it in the snark universe ;)

  • Sobaika

    HONEY NO

  • Paula Pertile

I wish she had those fake wax fang teeth when she smiled.

  • Diego!

Those lips must go. NOW! On the other hand, those shoes are very “resort” so they would go perfectly with some pants kinda palazzo sort of way. That bag… mmmhh so so but I do love the earrings. The dress is fine. I’m scared those lips are producing a zombie effect on her!

  • kipper

Late October – Late October….for gauzy white and a faux spectator… I just don’t get it. Now, you kids get off my lawn….

    • Kayceed

The whole thing is a mess. The shoes are daytime, the frock spring/summer, the makeup garish. Yeesh.

  • Kimbolina

I don’t understand the lipstick. Never mind the color, what is up with the texture??

    • muzan-e

My uneducated guess: Nars’ matte Volga, and to hell with exfoliating first. At the last possible moment, someone realises and dashes at her with a clear gloss, but with a nonchalant lick of the lips she declares All Is Well.

(Seriously though, I have this lipstick and love the colour, but my god is it punishing on unmoisturised lips.)

      • marlie

No one thought to tell her to amp up with the chapstick/lip balm/something BEFORE the lip color went on? It wouldn’t have been a perfect fix, but it would have been an improvement.

  • gabbilevy

She always has makeup issues. Someone find her a better gay.

  • mommyca

    I WANT those shoes!!!!

    • pattyw

You’ll have to steal them from me.

  • Shawn EH

    Lene Lovich, 1980 realness!

  • Karen Belgrad

Raspberry Tootsie Roll Pops staining your lips are not a red carpet substitute for lipstick.

  • alyce1213

I don’t like the appliqués on net. Looking at the sleeves, I wish there were more sweater in this dress, in a color (so much black and white), and fabulous accessories. The shoes are interesting — an exaggerated wedge with a slice cut out. Hmmm.
She desperately needs lip conditioning product and better hair styling.

  • ovarB

A gentle lip exfoliator and a moisturizing lip balm before the smear of oxblood will help avoid the clumpies.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Please, get some soothing balm for your lips, my dear. And a good stylist for the rest of you.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I love the shoes. The lip color OTOH scares me a little.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

Man, that boysenberry pie she ate before she left the house must have been delicious…

  • filmcricket

Oh Jessica. Stop doing your hair that way, get better lipstick, throw out the dress, burn those shoes in a fire. You can keep the jewelry and the clutch.

    • Garcia Loca

The mental image of Jessica showing up at an event in just the jewelry and the clutch. (“What? My dress got thrown away and my shoes caught on fire.”)

  • Tatiana Luján

the hair is terrible and while I don’t dislike the shoes, they have nothing to do with that dress.

  • sagecreek

She gets beat up so much for her mouth and teeth, I’m not really comfortable piling on. The dress is adorable on her. The shoes aren’t great, but I’ve seen so much worse of late.

    • MilaXX

It’s not about her mouth or teeth, it’s about poorly applied lipstick. There’s and art to wearing dark colors and reds. I do the whole exfoliate, moisturize lip prep whenever I wear them.

    • Trickytrisha

I wasn’t aware she was taking flak for her mouth and teeth, but for me they’ve been a focus puller that detracts from her beauty, and kind of takes her into Cruella deVil territory. Her lipstick always seems to be just plain wrong.

  • MoHub

Another victim of the Clown setting on the Homer Simpson makeup gun.

  • Danielle

Lip scrub! Lip scrub is your friend!

  • JauntyJohn

    Christmas party dress.

  • JR Labrador

I don’t understand. Is she really trying to look like Gloria Vanderbilt?

  • Tracy_Flick

I don’t like the shoes or bag with that dress. The shades of beige and black look BLAH with the white.

    • mlle

I don’t mind the colour pairing as much as I think the shoes and bag are too linear and modern for a lacy dress with a hem like this.

      • MilaXX

Yes its two different conflicting styles. The bag might work with a different shoe, but the shoes, while fab are not working with the dress at all.

  • StephanieLovesTLo

Love all of it except the lip color, and maybe the dress could be fitted a bit more snugly. Love the shoes and earrings.

  • ashtangajunkie

I can’t with that lipstick situation. I can with those earrings and that clutch though. She/her people are not good at this celebrity-red carpet-photographers thing yet.

  • MannahattaMamma

    anyone else seeing Frida Kahlo?

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Good Lord, Paz De La Huerta ditched acting to become a makeup artist.

  • mlle

The shoes and clutch really don’t go with the dress at all (though I like them). Her makeup looks like it was done by a 12 year old – the lips are the worst offender, but it’s all awful.

  • marlie

The dress is pretty, and I like her accessories – especially the earrings. And… I’m going to leave it at that.

  • MilaXX

Did she do her makeup herself? Dark lipsticks require that you exfoliate your lips before applying. Otherwise you look like Jessica. Was her MUA tired that day? I like the dress jewelry/bag/shoes, but I don’t think the shoes go well with the dress.

  • jen

I love all the elements she’s got on, just not together.

  • lunchcoma

The shoes are darling and the dress isn’t bad, but why are they together? It’s like her feet want to go to the office, her body wants to lounge around at home in a pretty nightie, and her makeup is stumbling home from an all nighter and hoping her hands weren’t shaking too much to apply it correctly.

  • KinoEye

The lips almost look like she was hitting the red wine the night before, rolled out of bed shortly before the fashion show, and was trying to cover up the stains with dark lipstick… I know I’ve been there. But then again, I don’t have an army of professionals to make me really, really ridiculously good looking. It’s a shame, because I think her lips and teeth are beautiful. As many others have said, lady needs some new gays. She can be better than this.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

    Not feeling the hair, either.

  • twocee

The lack of alignment on that heel is seriously setting off my OCD.

  • Sally Spannagle

Her lips always look like that in Mad Men too… all chapped up!!!

  • NOLA_gal

The lips, the hair, the makeup… ouch.

  • Kelly

I like the front of the shoe, but not the heel. It’s too heavy for the more delicate toe/strap.

And yet another shiny face *sigh* (plus just generally bad makeup all around — eyes too dark, underneath-the-eye too white, lips like a vampire moments who just took her first bite.)

I agree that the dress is cute, though.

  • lobsterlen

    Lady Gaga’s lips from yesterday?

  • NYCGlamourpuss

Hi, Jessica. 1995 called – it wants it’s really super dark, matte MAC lipstick back.

  • lalahartma

    Nice shoes. :)

  • jjjoy

    gimme those Chloe shoes!

  • quiltrx

Wow those are BAD lips. Combined with the hair, it looks like something Marcel Marceau tried that didn’t work out.
And save your amaryllis dress for Christmas, honey. Then we’ll give you a pass on some too-bright red lips. But not this.

  • amber.

She just aged herself by like 25 years with that lipstick.

  • joything

    Paloma Picasso wannabe?

  • E. D.

I like the shoes, but not with that dress. I can’t even with that lip color.

  • SophieCollier

Ooo! Ooo! I know what happened! I know what happened! She was wearing some of that “long lasting” lipstick that is supposed to wear through dinner and kissing but it NEVER DOES. It gets peel-y and flakey, and it looks like this was an after-dinner photo. She probably had some gloss to put over it, but the crusty lipstick actually has to be removed with petroleum jelly or just scratched off with your fingernails.

    • demidaemon

That sounds like an awful experience I would not wish on my worst enemy.

  • http://piblet.tumblr.com/ Anastasia

    Honey, FIRE your makeup artist.

  • sunflower

I love all of the pieces but, I don’t love them together. The hair and makeup is dreadful

  • teensmom99

I can see why the dress seemed like a good idea but not loving it. Maybe it’s a fit issue. The shoes are the kind of shoes that I shoe addict like me loves but then doesn’t really know what to do with them. They seem better in theory than in reality.

  • Mazenderan

Hair is too harsh, make-up is woeful, dress is too big, shoes look all twisted. JP is stunning – but this looks dreadful.

  • http://www.wordydoodles.com WordyDoodles

I feel like Sephora and other big cosmetics retailers are pushing this as the go-to color for winter. I’ve seen variations of it everywhere, especially intensely with MakeUpForever, Urban Decay, Givenchy.

  • calbear97

Super late to this party but those shoes are so weird. That ankle strap is like a dog leash for the shoe.
