Is it just me or does that shade of white look a little off?

    • boweryboy

      My thoughts as well.

      • RussellH88

It looks slightly greyish, but in a dirty way.

    • oekmama

Or she could just be one of those folks who look better in cream or ivory rather than this white.

  • I think she looks great. Polished and professional. I hope that’s what she was going for. Minor quibbles: I feel I can see some visible foundation garments, and haven’t we seen her in this before? Or something similar?

    • kimmeister

When you’re underwire is visible from outside of your clothes, your top is too tight.

      • allisankelly

Agreed. I feel like everything she wears is one size too small. She has a banging bod, for sure. But her transformation won’t be lost on me if she goes up one size.

        • MoHub

It’s a common mistake among people who’ve lost a lot of weight. I remember seeing it decades ago, when opera singer Renata Scotto dropped a lot of weight and began wearing dresses so tight you could practically tell what brand of girdle she was wearing.

    • conniemd

That was my only problem with the outfit. Otherwise she looked really great.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

It’d be such a sleeker look if the peplum was gone.

    • Pennymac

Most peplums are of the devil. IMHO

      • eowyn_of_rohan

Yeah, I’m so done with peplum. It just looks tacked-on and unoriginal every time I see it at this point.

        • boweryboy

But I have to say this is the least egregious example of a peplum I’ve seen in a long time. It at least has a modern feel to it instead of looking like a limp dust ruffle.

          • demidaemon

I do like the shape of this peplum. It’s more interesting–and less done–than others. And isn’t it interesting that spell-check always marks “peplum” as misspelled? Is it a sign?

    • terpsichory

I actually don’t mind it since this is as sleek as a peplum can go compared to the ruffeled and/or layered monstrosities we’ve had to put up with lately.

      • alyce1213

I agree. As peplums go, this one’s very effective — sleek, minimal and suitable to the line of the dress.

    • marlie

This is the rare instance where the peplum adds some visual interest without adding unnecessary bulk. Usually I hate them, but this one is ok.

  • Sara Brams-Miller

Yigal Azrouel is by far my favorite. He may not have crazy unique designs, but holy shit are they ever flattering. She looks amaze-balls.

  • PastryGoddess

That is some bad makeup. She needs to go and have a conversation with them…preferably with wire hangars in hand

    • Glam Dixie

It’s like Latrice Royale got ahold of her except instead of using yellow, she used orange.

      • demidaemon

So you mean Coco Montrese got a hold of her?

  • LaSylphide

Love it. That dress needs someone with a bosom to give the whole thing shape and to counter balance the peplum, so Jennifer is perfect for it. She looks, great. Love the shoes.

    • bellafigura1

Oh, I think she’s got the bosom for it, but she’s binding them down.

  • Glam Dixie

It’s a tiny bit tight, but crazy flattering. Love those shoes, hair looks great, minimal jewelry, it’s all lovely.

    • mshesterp

I feel like it’s one of her best looks in ages–this really highlights her body in a positive way.

      • Lanus

I think that between her curves and her skin tone, she looks better than the model does.

We shall not speak of the makeup, for it offends.

  • Lori

I’m not a stickler for the old rule about not wearing white after Labor Day, but when did October become plain white dress month?

  • In_Stitches

Get it in red and She’s Lt. Uhura, to a T.

  • JasmineAM

    Horribly greasy hair/wig.

  • JulieK

What is that on her wrist? Is that one of those phone-watch things? Or just a big watch?

    • kimmeister

Looks like a big watch, and I kind of love it!

    • imspinningaround

It’s the silly new Samsung watch communicator thing.

      • MilaXX

oh yeah the Samsung gear smart

        • I’m a gadget addict. I was just praising myself for not itching to upgrade my phone in over a year. But damnit, I want that watch thingy.

          • MilaXX

I do too but I’m going to wait a bit. Neither Wired nor Cnet gave it great reviews. Rumour has several varieties of this coming from different players so I’ll wait until a better version comes along.

          • Patience is not among my virtues, but I’m waiting for a better version too.

      • alyce1213

I love the way it looks with this dress, very unexpected.

      • JulieK

Ah, gracias. I am not sure I like it but it is different and modern looking with this dress, I suppose.

    • MilaXX

That looks like a variation of the Nooka watch Harry Shum had on the last time he was featured on the blog. Hers looks like the ARF Zub Zot, but I only see it in black on the site.

  • I have quibbles. But it’s probably just the petty, jealous bitch in me bringing them up, because if my fairy godmother said that I could look exactly like this without fixing a thing, I’d say hell yeah.

  • hughman

    House of Wax.

  • filmcricket

That is how you do a peplum, if you have to do one. This just looks like she’s wearing a long top with a funky hem over a skirt, rather than like something attacked her waist.

  • MilaXX

A personal best. She usually pairs these types of looks with overly complicated shoes that ruin the look.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Funny, I was just thinking – she probably could have rocked the pair the model is wearing to add some more Jennifer to the look. Overall – pretty great.
She goes way heavy on the make up tho… That would not work more than 30 seconds with me in a white dress.

  • vitaminC

She looks better than the model. Quibbles aside, bravo!

  • zenobar

Lord, a bodycon dress like this in WHITE? Ms. Jennifer looks UH-MAZING.

(As someone who lost a lot a weight at the same time she did, and a few years later is reeeeally struggling to keep the majority of it off, I’m so inspired by this lady. Because celebrity trainers/chefs/assistants aside, at the end of the day, it’s up to your-own-damn-self to keep fighting the good fight.)

    • As someone who keeps losing and gaining the same 50lbs +/- (yes, I know) over and over again over the last few years, I commend your success.

      • zenobar

Aw, thanks! It’s a real grind some days (weeks, months, years) ain’t it? :

(Having said what I said earlier – at the end of the day, it would be mind-blowingly awesome to have someone tenderly prepare my sensible, portion-controlled, yet somehow delicious dinner every night.)

        • NYCGlamourpuss

Congrats to you! I just recently lost 47 lbs. too, and I’m still in the “I’m too excited to even think about gaining this back” mode – I only just hit goal in May.

          • zenobar

Hang onto that feeling for as long as you possibly can! It will serve you well. 🙂

        • demidaemon

That would make everyone’s lives easier, wouldn’t it? On top of having perfectly prepared delicious and nutritious fat fighting meals (isn’t that a string of adjectives?), you wouldn’t have to cook for yourself.

Oh, the glory of being a celebrity.

  • kimmeister

Awesome shoes and clutch. Dress is too tight. I always think she looks better in knee length.

  • nannypoo

Very pretty on her. But when you can see the underwire of her bra you know the dress is too tight or the bra doesn’t fit.

  • Today, J.Hud and I are Broach Buddies.

  • DuBey2

Personal best. She’s amazing. And I always give her extra points for the many accomplishments and dignity in the face of personal tragedy. Beauty inside, you know.

  • Carole Scofield

I think this looks great! Beautiful!

  • julnyes

I would love the dress on her if she went up a size. The hair is not working, but I like the accessories.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

It’s just the teensiest bit tight, but aside from that, she looks marvelous.

And believe me, I totally get that – I just lost 47 lbs. myself, and I have to fight the urge daily to not say, “No, I can wear something TIGHTER because I’m not fat anymore!” It’s like, when you finally have the body for it, you have to wrestle with yourself every day to not go overly tight.

    • zenobar

You go on with your 47-lbs-lighter self!

      • NYCGlamourpuss

        Thank you, buddy!

    • I think she’s greatly improved on this front. Not that any of us didn’t understand why she was working that new bod for all it was worth, but it’s been great to watch her settle into herself and find what looks best as well as what is the smallest she can get away with.

Kudos to your achievement! I’m sure you’ll do a fabulous job at striking the balance.

      • demidaemon

It’s true that she has improved. She does still have a tendency for going the teensiest bit tight, though, as evidenced by her visible bra line here.

  • alyce1213

I love this but I feel it should be a bit longer, to the top of the knee — it would be better-proportioned to the peplum and much more elegant and chic. Love the little brooch, so lady-like. It seems that she defaults to white quite often, but she looks great in it.

  • sunflower

Think it’s the best she’s looked in a while. She should stick to these more minimal looks

  • Diego!

She looks gorgeous!!! I love her shoes too!

  • bertkeeter

    Pretty darn perfect!

  • marlie

Jen looks soooo much better when she goes for simpler looks and accessories. I like this, except the dress is too tight if you can see the underwire from her bra. Otherwise, hair, makeup and accessories are all spot on!

  • Wow! She’s rocking that dress; the poor model looks deflated.

  • I like the peplum; it’s so minimal, and makes the dress more interesting and accentuates her waist

  • Nicole Little

  • NMMagpie

I just looked at the first picture and said DANG. 🙂

  • crash1212

Only quibble with this fabulous look is that it’s a skosh too tight. I love her hair and make-up and girl can rock a white dress. There seems to be a lot of white on celebs these days.

  • boweryboy

The dress is too tight which is too bad because designers, take note, this is how you do a peplum and make it look fresh and modern.

  • ThaliaMenninger

    That lip color is HERS.

  • Miranda

    ugh….who did her makeup….way bad

  • TAGinMO

    Better than the model.

  • macwell

The lighting has given me such a headache, it detracts from her from her garment…. 🙁

  • demidaemon

I think my only problem with this is that you can spot the outline of her bra through the bodice. Otherwise, she looks pretty fabulous.

  • Jai Piper

Suddenly (or maybe it’s just these photos) she has an extreme overbite and her teeth look too big for her mouth. Especially in the side view photos.

And I wish I could get over my Jennifer Hudson/Lawrence confusion. I see “Hudson” and think it’s the Hunger Games Girl, I see “Lawrence” and think of the singer. It’s always a surprise when I realize I’ve crossed up their last names.

  • kathrineb

    I think she looks amazing!
