Jenna Dewan-Tatum on “Live! with Kelly and Michael”

Posted on October 25, 2013

Since we’re on such a kick about seasonally inappropriate celebrity style lately, we suppose we should say that the white skirt is a really odd choice for October.

“Witches of East End” star Jenna Dewan-Tatum makes an appearance on “Live! with Kelly and Michael” in New York City.

Except it pretty much works. The blouse is really cute, the black panel in the skirt keeps it from reading too “July,” and the shoes take the whole look somewhere ’80s and secretarial, which we kind of love for her.  Seriously, that blouse is cute. Wish she’d gone for a darker shade on her lip, though.

Now, Witches of East End. Who’s caught it? Again, we plan on doing a writeup on it at some point (we know we keep saying this lately but trust us, we’ve had a bear of a month on a lot of fronts), but we’ll say this: It’s worth your time if you want some rather light fantasy in your life at the moment. It makes a nice counterpoint to the deliciously fucked up world of American Horror Story: Coven. These witches are more in the lines of that old Kidman/Bullock joint, Practical Magic, with a little bit of the kind of campy silliness you’d see on Charmed or even Buffy. We don’t want to overstate it, though. No one’s winning any Emmys in this crowd, but it’s an energetic and entertaining cast, for the most part, and we’re always impressed by how well the writing unfolds an ongoing story each week, keeping you slightly sucked in, even if some of the subplots scream “bad romance novel.”  It is Lifetime, after all. But it’s fun. Maybe not appointment TV, but we’ve found it a good way to close out a Sunday night after watching people being eaten alive on The Walking Dead.

I love Witches of East End. Madchen Amick is awesome, and the whole thing reminds me of Charmed (which I loved). Yeah, it’s silly. Yeah, Ms Dewan-Tatum is dating a guy named DASH, whose brother is named KILLIAN (blergh), but it’s a lot of fun despite that. I like living in a world where both this and AHS: Coven exists and that I can like them both!!

      • marlie

Madchen is probably my favorite member of the cast too. She hasn’t aged at all since Twin Peaks.

Madchen is one of those actresses who always does a good job but never quite gets a break.

      • ecallaw1977

You had me at Charmed. Adding it to my DVR.

Ms Dewan-Tatum probably doesn’t notice the names of the men in her storyline since she’s married to a guy named Channing; lol. I like them as a pair after seeing them dance together in Step Up. I could only dream to dance that well (I love to dance) and to have a partner who dances just as well . That is a true Cinderella story.

Back to the show. The brother of her fiance is pretty handsome. I guess that the fiance is, too.

Isn’t Madchen Amick the most beautiful female?

    • marlie

Neck up: bombshell. It’s her typical look, and it works for her, but I’d love to see her do something different at some point. I like the top, but it’s pulling across the bust. I’m not thrilled with the skirt, but the texture makes it seem a little more seasonally appropriate, and I like the shoes.

Witches of East End: Like TLo said… no one is going to win any awards, but it’s fun TV. A little bit campy, but fun!

Love the top, hate the skirt. I don’t think the two pieces go together, and the skirt reads Forever 21 to me

    • Stella Zawistowski

I wish there were a black panel in front of the skirt as well as in back. In front it’s looking really bridal to me (even though the top half of her isn’t). But the back isn’t bad at all.

      • Darren Nesbitt

Yep the front is giving me “Project Runway after thought piece” but the back works great.

You don’t see a lot of ladies rocking the separates these days, so even if though I don’t love it in any way, I love the personal style it shows. And those shoes are pure sex.

I haven’t given her show a try, I’m glad to hear it may have a bit of success to it. I want good things for her. I want her and the Charming Potato to live happily ever after, making adorable babies and dancing together in their living room. She seems like a cool chic.

“Witches of Eastwood” (as my husband refers to it) is the Cool Whip of witch shows. Light, tasty, harmless. I’ve only seen the pilot episode and there’s a few things that bug 1) “I can’t get pregnant…hey, wouldn’t it be fun if you pretended you were a witch and you could do a fertility spell?” storyline 2) Jenna Dewan’s “soul mate” is kind of a box of rocks but no one has told him 3) Julia Ormond’s voice is kind of bugging me, but I guess I can’t expect her to still be Sabrina Fairchild.

      • Ms_Flyover

I just referred to it as Sorbet – there must be a light dessert theme going on today.

      • tereliz

Now I’m going to go have to home and watch Sabrina! Oh, Linus!

        • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

“We were up to our elbows in your underwear drawer.”

          • tereliz

“It was like touching the Shroud of Turin.”

Dana Ivey’s delivery of that line is too cute!

            • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

I’ll say it. I like the remake better than the original.

            • tereliz

*hushed voice* me too. *looks around all paranoid*

            • Ms_Flyover

              Me too. So kill me.

    • stellamaris73

Are those price tags on the bottom of her shoes? They look almost like Nordstrom Rack stickers.

      • marlie

I can’t tell, but if they were, I think I might like her even more. “Stars: they’re just like us!”

      • MilaXX

Maybe they’re hers and that’s why they actually fit.

      • 3boysful

I wish, because I kinda really like them.

    • Jessica Freeman

She’s too young to look this old….I don’t know if it’s the print on the blouse or the white lace skirt…which also looks cheap…neck up, rocking, neck down is booooring.

    • Janet B

      Nope.

    • Ms_Flyover

Witches of East End is my antidote for AHS:Coven (which I’m also watching). It’s pure Lifetime evening soap fluff, Madchen Amick is terrific in it, and I get to revive my girl crush on Julia Ormond. After Minotaur sex, incest and baby gravy, it’s a nice little palette cleanser (sort of the sorbet of TV witch shows).

    • Synnae

The heels are fab (except for the price tag- well we’ve all been there). Hair and face no complaints either but the mix of that blouse with a white textured skirt. No. With a leather skirt I may have signed off on it but not now. It looks so mix-matched and not in a good way. And does that blouse have shoulder pads? Her whole silhouette looks a bit off.

I blame this outift on her having a rare off-day because girl normally looks good. And I blame TLo for not coming down on her hard because they know she loves them as much as we do ;-)

    • MilaXX

She looks cute though I would have preferred dark hose or even tights here. Haven’t watched the show because it’s really not my cuppa. No particular reason just not interesting me.

    • tereliz

THOSE SHOES! Want so hard. Love that blouse with them.

    • formerlyAnon

Tutorial for celebrities: if you PAID someone to give you hair tumbling/billowing/falling around your shoulders, THIS* is the effect you should be getting (* your degree of curl may vary). Not something that looks uncombed and rolled upon, not something flat on one side, not something where half the volume is flyaways.

    • Tracy_Flick

I think I had that skirt in 1991. And she’s so gorgeous, WHY do they put her in 15 pounds of makeup? I guess the look is OK, but just OK.

    • crash1212

Love this look. Love the show…as you say, nobody is going to win an Emmy here, but it’s fun and I can’t get enough of Julia Ormond or Madchen Amick. We don’t see nearly enough of those two and together in one show? Perfection.

    • mom2ab

Darlings you need rest and a tonic- this is just no.

      • ShaoLinKitten

I agree. It’s just ugly, which is too bad because she’s super cute.

    • Ann VerWiebe

When did she have her baby? Man – I wish my abs would bounce back like that!

    • lunchcoma

I was willing to allow that the black floral top and white skirt look might just be advanced fashion that I didn’t understand.

Then I saw that huge, exposed zipper. That’s Forever 21 grade. Not okay.

    • quiltrx

      She looks like a waitress.
And I see the skirt as “hey look at my flat belly after the baby.” meh.

    • Alloy Jane

Too cute! I just wish the black panel was on the front end as well. I miss Playboy Club. Oh Janie, I really wanted to know what kind of felon you were married to.

    • unbornfawn

Don’t like the skirt at all. Makes the outfit look dowdy. The hair and make-up are beautiful. Kinda love the iron man red shoes.

    • Bernadette

Totally agree on Witches of East End as a counter to AHS: Coven, loving both shows on totally different ends of the entertainment spectrum.

    • Shawn EH

I don’t know if I can with other witches right now after Coven. I’ve already committed to one set of pyschotic drag queens. I did watch the Good Witch marathon this weekend though, shamefully.
