Gabrielle Union at the Miu Miu Spring 2014 Show in Paris

Posted on October 03, 2013

Oh, if only she’d zipped up the Cookie Monster jacket.

Gabrielle Union attends the Miu Miu Spring 2014 show at the Palais d’Iéna in Paris.

Or is that more of a Grover-blue? It’s hard to tell. At any rate, we really hate the bodice on the dress, with its unflattering wide lace panel. No one’s gonna look good in that. But the shade of blue looks gorgeous on her and the jacket’s actually a lot of fun, even if the weather’s probably too hot for it.  The shoes are kind of tragic and that bag totally looks free-with-$50-purchase.

And despite all that? She’s gorgeous.

It looks like the anti-slip carpet in a bathroom.

I’m a sucker for navy blue. And I actually kind of like the pink purse, but it does look like something I can pick up at the mall. The clodhoppper shoes are the only misstep here for me.

      • mlle

I like the pop of pink against the navy more than I like the purse itself.

She looks like a Kardashian. That is never a good thing.
Also, the lace is putting the wrong emPHAsis on her breast.

Right? I had to do a double take to make sure that it wasn’t torn in one place. Really weird.

Miu Miu is renown for their fabulous accessories. Miu Miu for Walmart? Not so much.

    • NMMagpie

      Epic blue furry lacy fail.

    • 1tsplove

I cannot deal with the bodice! It looks like someone ripped open the actual shirt and we are seeing her slip.

By the power of Gabrielle Union and her imposing beauty, I like everything, except the clutch (which looks more like a bag to carry makeup). I wish she’r worn a navy lace bra.

    • Denise Plank

      Boobs and a bathmat.

      • Adriana_Paula

        …two bits!

    • AlisonS

If Aaron Paul wrote this entry the last line would have read:
“And despite all that? She’s gorgeous.

      Bitch.”

    • mmebam

I mean, if one cannot compare high-fashion with muppets, then what, exactly, is there to live for?

    • HM3

The parts of her that are SHOWING (ugly lace excluded) are gorgeous. The actual clothing is a disaster.

    • Adrianna Grężak

The only positive is the color. Everything is problematic. That jacket looks perfect for a cat bed

    • decormaven

Oh for Pete’s sake, if there’s a lace see-through top, wear a coordinating bra or camisole, or just put it out there for the world to partially see. Please make these lace tops go away, fashion gods, because no one’s getting the memo on how to correctly deploy them.
Rant over- she’s very pretty. This look is doing her no favors.

    • crash1212

She’s gorgeous. The outfit is less so.

    • willworktomorrow

She so clearly feels pretty here that her gorgeous smile and flirty poses make up for the shoes. Ugh. The shoes.

    • rkdgal

That jacket looks like the rug-hook kit I had in 6th grade (minus the ugly sunset through branches pattern, natch). Maybe I could whip one up this weekend…

    • kimmeister

What a stupid dress. Actually it would be pretty awesome without the lace part (filled in with another fabric, not just empty either).

    • MilaXX

I don’t like the bag or the jacket. Lace panel is too wide.

    • YoungSally

No Muppets were shaved to create that coat….thank God….I think it’s a leftover swiffer pad from the navy blue yarn store.

I don’t understand the pink bag. So unnecessary. It really brings down the look here. Besides the wide lace panel thingy, of course.

    • sagecreek

Oh, no. I can’t tell if she isn’t wearing a bra, or if that’s the lining. And the fact that I cannot tell is a PROBLEM.

    • JauntyJohn

I’ve always thought she was one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood — killer smile and expressive eyes. I keep hoping she gets a big break-out role.

With that said, with the jacket on I have a bigger problem with what reads as the conflicting, competing patterns of the “fur” of the jacket and the lace of the panel.
Without the jacket, I can only echo what’s been said: Terribly unflattering — there seems to be problems with the fit as well? Yes?

    • Trickytrisha

I wonder if she likes this outfit for her… to me she looks a bit sheepish in the pics, hiding behind the peekaboo hair. That sheer panel is sad, but so’s the the lack of hair styling. Too bad, ’cause she’s fricking adorable.

    • Introspective

hate all of it, but that face sells the dreck she’s wearing like no one else’s could. she’s gorgeous…

    • conniemd

What a strange outfit. At first I thought she took off the Sesame Street jacket and put on a new one in the later shots. But it appears that the whole thing is actually a dress with a lace insert and the jacket sew to the skirt.

    • demidaemon

Even with the boobage, this is somehow aging on her. Whoever put this on her should be beaten for making a beautiful woman look dowdy.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

it’s hard for me to get used to the high waisted look, esp. with a short skirt. having always been tall, i avoid anything that leans towards gangly. or looks like you’ve grown out of it.

the pink clutch may look cheap, but it does keep the whole thing from going funereal.

    • Shawn EH

Gorgeous, maybe needed solid corset underneath.

    • TerryMH

I LOVE the cookie monster jacket. Can’t wait for H & M to knock it off.

    • EdithP

Has she had work done on her face? Why does she look so different?

    • Erica_Vuitton

The part I hate most is the belt. The way it stiffly sticks out is driving me irrationally insane. I like the color of it, but gift with purchase is spot on for the purse.
