Freema Agyeman in Moschino at The Carrie Diaries Season 2 Premiere

Posted on October 01, 2013

It’s so fun to see the former Martha Jones on the red carpet.

Freema Agyeman at the The Season 2 Premiere Party for “The Carrie Diaries” at Gansevoort Hotel Rooftop in New York City in a Moschino dress paired with a Jill Haber bag.

But girl, we are not feeling this one. First, we’re not loving the color on her. Second, it’s kind of big and shapeless on her. Old fashioned, too. Like a vintage dress without any of the charm of vintage clothing. The shoes don’t do anything for the look and the little pocketbook takes it that much further away from any sort of modernity. And it pains us to say it, but the hair and makeup look distinctly DIY.  Not camera-ready in the least.

This makes us sad. She’s a knockout, but you’d never know from this getup.

She is a knock-out, and yeah, this is way too Barbie. Maybe she thought it was appropriate, given the occasion? Too bad.

    • marlie

Take away the shoes and the purse, and you *might* have something to work with.

Nevermind… the more I look at this, the more that color hurts my eyes.

      • Jaeda Laurez

The color plus the sucky background is awful, but the pink itself is not bad. The shape of the dress tho…it looks like her waist is swimming in all that fabric.

        • nowlo

Agreed. It maybe could be salvaged with a belt (I’m thinking wide, black patent) and/or some tailoring, plus some a bold cat eye or something stronger on her face. But those shoes and bag are not right.

    • hughman

      “Effie, we all got pain.”

    • Nariya

I’m kind of a fan of the makeup. But I agree that the rest is a sad.

      • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

I thought the makeup was pretty too, although on closer inspection it does look like her eyelashes are a little wonky. If we’re going to be hypercritical — which, being as how this is the internet, we are.

    • MilaXX

Yeah, none of this is working for me. I t looks kike they lost her luggage and she’s wearing head to to borrowed clothing from the hotel’s good will bin,

    • Janet B

Few can rock Barbie Pink, and Freema’s not one of them.

    • TropiCarla

Agreed on all counts. She is majorly gorgeous but this getup is not worthy.

What genius designed this dress and said, “Of course! Pockets ON the hip!”?

      • marlie

That’s not even on the hip. those pockets are on the… stomach? Whatever – they’re just wrong.

    • HM3

From top to toe, she looks like a giant piece of bubble gum. In a bad way. :

    • Jessica Freeman

Let’s be honest here, the dress looks a little DIY as well.

      • Kimberly Wilcox

I was actually thinking that. It sort of looks like its a size too big, and something you make in sewing class in highschool :-/

    • decormaven

Really cute gal in a less than cute look. She could so rock some of the 80s inspired styles that were shown at NYFW.

    • Rand Ortega

      Very disappointing.

    • majorbedhead

Yeah, that’s not a flattering look on her at all. It makes her look thick-waisted.

    • Bethany Roullett

This looks like something a crafty highschooler could make. Not to dig on highschool sewing, I promise, but when I think ‘red carpet’, I don’t think “and you can get the pattern at Joann Fabrics!”

    • Rachael

She is NOT Rose Tyler and she should not steal Rose’s wardrobe!

    • HVM

This looks like a bridesmaids dress forced on her by a bride who secretly doesn’t like her.

    • kimmeister

Well, at least her arms are looking mega toned and fantastic.

    • nancymae

      I rebuke this look.

    • luluransom

      Dreadful.

    • steeg of their own

Martha would sniff at this. I feel like that’s a standard that Freema should hold all of her dresses to in the future: “What Would Martha Do?” If Martha would be somewhat skeptical, don’t wear the dress.

      • fursa_saida

WWMD is a good standard for most choices in life, I think.

    • Trisha26

Everything you said, TLo. Plus putty shoes.

    • CT14

She looks great, but th clothes are BAD.

Puckering at the seams and machine the backdrop. She’s gorgeous: couldn’t someone loan her something pretty?

    • Lattis

I hate that fabric – but Martha is looking good!

Girl This Is Not The Pepto Bismol Awards.

    • MoHub

      Love Freema; hate the outfit.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

She is stunningly beautiful and this look does her a big disservice.

    • Jacquelyn

I love bubble gum pink dresses but this isn’t working at all. Sorry Martha. I still love you.

    • Tom Shea

I think she looks adorable. Loved her on L&O: UK.

    • kathrineb

Noooooo not those shoes again. The dress could use some fitting!

    • Erica_Vuitton

Oy that is the dress for a Sweet Sixteen party, not for a 34 year old kick ass woman! Poor fit overall, the color, the fabric… it’s just not flattering.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1180174329 Elizabeth Phillips

Don’t like. Don’t know how much of the dislike is from still being upset at her for leaving L&O: UK, though…

    • julnyes

Freema, you are better than this so get it together.

    • oohsparkley!

      That dress looks huuuge.

    • ellisd123

Sup, favorite companion?! That is all.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

now, those are some tragic shoes.
