Fergie in Los Angeles

Posted on October 31, 2013

Gotta give this new mommy props for bouncing back quickly on the style front.

Fergie heads to an office building in Los Angeles carrying a Saint Laurent bag.

Saint Laurent Reversible Leather/Suede East-West Tote Bag

Not that we can sign off on this one all the way, but at least it’s put together and has a lot of personality to it. You can’t claim she’s not trying.

To be fair, we really think it’s only the bag and the hat that are making us wrinkle our noses in distaste. It’s an outfit with too many focal points as it is. She didn’t need the accessories fighting with everything else. The other pieces are all pretty great. We think we love the idea of a coat-length flannel shirt.

The camera angle, hair, and facial expression in the first picture really makes her look like Kirstie Alley.

The outfit is at least something, Smooth Criminal by way of 90′s Seattle.

    • Adrianna Grężak

Totally thought she looked like Kristie Alley too

    • elemspbee

omg, i was about to write the same thing. Uncanny how much these photos make Fergie look like Kirstie Alley!

      • NYCGlamourpuss

        Me too!

As for the outfit, it’s all just way too much. I know she’s trying, but she needs to try again!

I think it’s the sunglasses – their shape, plus the angle, frames her forehead and the shape of her eyebrows in such a way that she’s unmistakeable for KA!

  • Anathema_Device

Yes, the bag and hat take this to “walking yard sale” territory. But what I can say? My oldest is in college and I’m still in sweats.

    • Rhonda Shore

Mine is 16 and I’m still working on that baby weight! lol

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

    I really hate that sweater.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

    Is she trick or treating?

  • Adrianna Grężak

    I want those pants.

  • kittenwithaquip

I kinda loved grunge when it came out. I was doing display in a small town department store and had so much fun pissing off the moms of the girls in the Juniors’ Dept. by pairing cute floral dresses with clunky boots and/or flannel. *sigh* I still wear denim jackets over pretty dresses to piss *my* mom off…

So I think I’m saying I like it, mostly for nostalgia, and also because she’s a new mom who’s still trying to look good. She may have a team helping her, but it doesn’t seem like it to me. I get the feeling she makes her own style choices.

  • Jessica Freeman

It’s all just a bit too much.

  • mjude

is the bag really reversible? I could never reverse a bag with all the crap the lingers & sticks in the bottom of my purses!

    • NOLA_gal

Gack. The gum wrappers stuck to the bottom, the green sticky things that evolved from something I must have put in my purse on purpose, the ink stains, the lipstick smears, etc, etc. Besides, who has stuff in their bag so organised that they can (easily) take all their stuff out, reverse the purse and (easily) put it all back in? The concept is mind boggling. Rich people aren’t like us.

You know, she really surprised me.
She was fairly low key while pregnant – as opposed to umpteen “I’m the first woman in the world ever to be pregnant” type interviews and puff pieces many celebrities at her level give in order to up their fame quotient. Even her style of dress was usually cute, very her, but not LOOK AT MY BUMP! MY LOVELY LADY BUMP!
I think she and her hubby released a facebook new baby pic, instead of playing the media game there. Nor is she schlepping the kid all over LA, “avoiding” the paps. Even this outfit is decidedly body hiding, as if she doesn’t even want to get into the how quickly can she lose the weight game.
I think this woman, may have decided to have a child because she wanted an actual human person to raise and not the accessory of choice for the last decade or so.

If she lost the hat here, I’d be fully on board and saying Cute!!

    • Imasewsure

Nicely said… refreshing not to have to read all of those student interviews about the miracle of motherhood (hey I love my kids too but they ain’t miracles!). The hat isn’t my thing either but she seems to love them. I’m on board with her as well! Low key Momalicious!

    • housefulofboys

      Yes, everything you said!

Fergie is like a cocktail that’s not easy to drink but will eff with your head effectively.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Is that a good thing? A bad thing? I don’t know, but I love the way it sounds.

  • giddypony

    Love the coat,

  • melanie0866

What’s wrong with the bag? It’s very simple.

I don’t know, I wouldn’t wear it, but I think she looks like a rock star.

    • Laura Renee

I think just the size of it makes it too competitive with the rest of the outfit.

  • schadenfreudelicious

Where in the world is Fergie Sandiego?

  • Glam Dixie

She’s on my irrational hate list and her pattern mixing is no better than Blake Lively’s from yesterday. The patterns are competing too much.

    • AmeliaEve

I disagree. She has a good distinction of scale and line and a unity of color, with solid pieces to break it up. I think it’s very harmonious.

      • Glam Dixie

I readily admit that her status on my IHL my skew my perception of her and her clothing choices.

  • jjjoy

i really like that tote, but not with this outfit. it would be a great staple item.

  • Laura Renee

Personally, I love the hat, but I’m always a sucker for a good hat.

  • MilaXX

The only thing I dislike here is the hat. I really like the outfit and I’m just gonna ignore the bag pimping.

  • Margaret Nikoleit

The hat is my favorite part! Just received a black leather fedora last month, and would love if it had a brim this big.

  • Sonja Brisson

I always think she overdoes everything. Oh, and I was at the drugstore yesterday, and she is now spokes model for Wet and Wild cosmetics, the nadir/downmarket of all cosmetics lines. Which tells you something about where the quality factor lives. I’m not saying her clothes, etc., are cheap, its that they look cheap. Again, I rail against female celebrities who are richer than Croesus and yet look like all their stuff comes from Forever 21.

  • jw_ny

The large hat, bag and her wild hair are just overwhelming her. I quite like the rest, although the top and coat really don’t compliment each other.

  • Tamara Hogan

I think a basic black t-shirt would improve this look immeasurably.

  • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

The shirt is a travesty (LOL). It’s too loud.

Not everyone can wear a hat like that; it doesn’t look good to me.

  • ovarB

The thumbnail pic had me thinking this was about Rachel Zoe.

  • marlie

I hate the print of the shirt and the plaid of the jacket together. If she’d gotten rid of one of them, I’d be ok with this look.

  • CeeQ

Hilda the Fashionista Witch on her way to drinks and canapes with the coven.

  • ThaliaMenninger

I kind of like this. Slap me, please. Clearly I need to wake up.

  • cocohall

Maybe she is nursing and she is afraid to do color treatments to her hair and the hat is covering up some really-scary-but-not-for-Halloween-but-for-real roots? I am always always always going to give the benefit of the doubt to the new mom. Specially when the new mom is not the youngest new mom. Because I had my kids on the “more mature” side and it can take a minute to get your world even remotely back to normal. Like SHOWERING feels like a spa treatment.

  • Trickytrisha

The face and neck in that first picture are just plain scary… I thought it was a witchy Halloween costume in the thumbnail, although I suspect it’s the arched eyebrows above the sunglasses that cause the effect. Bag’s too big, but nice combination in the outfit otherwise. Do no like Hat – too sinister.

  • wontons

Love the coat and the overall monochromatic energy of the outfit. The hat’s a bit much.

  • SophieB210

Of all the possible fashion regurgitation combinations, I think grunge flannel and press on nails is the most tragic.

  • guest2visits

It’s pretty busy, alright. But the only thing that really bothers me is are the heels she’s tottering on. Seems like some type of boot would have been a more compatible and comfortable choice.

  • MannahattaMamma

when did she become goldie hawn?

  • Danielle

Yes, hi. Where can I sell my kidney for that bag?

  • snarkykitten

since I have no one to talk to about this: Her Elvira costume was pretty bad

    • Qitkat

So you didn’t have to remain a lonely bitter kitten, I decided to do the google search. That was some party. I think Josh’s costume disturbed me more. Seemed like a pretty accurate depiction of Elvira to me. Although Fergie’s hair was as big as a Queen’s Guard bearskin hat. I think I preferred the earlier Day of the Dead costumes.
