      Beautiful dress, plague make-up.

    • Diego!

Honey dear… since your awful make up is aging you like 20 years your age, this dress looks like a joke on you. It´s gorgeous and fits you like a glove, but your hair and make up are so bad, so awful, that they are ruinning everything here. Fire the ones who “took care” of them. NOW!

    • Emily Giovanni

Supercute dress! Not a fan of the matchy lips and shoes, though.

    • Coleen

She needs to fire her makeup person. “Consumptive” is not aesthetic for which one should strive.

      • Nicholas

I believe she does all styling herself.

        • PastryGoddess

          Well bless her heart…

        • Golfkat

You’re right. Styling and make-up isn’t the same thing though. The make-up was professionally done.

      • Aaminah Khan

She’s been doing it for ages, too! She used to consistently nail the fresh-faced look on the RC, but for some reason, she switched to this awful “I’m dying of TB” look a couple of months ago, and boy howdy, does it not suit her. Such a shame, because she’s gorgeous when made up properly.

    • Krysta

      It’s a great dress, but matching nails/lip/shoes is . . . a bit much.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Well??? I have to know, did she land the quadruple axle?

      • Random Compliments

        Can’t. Unsee.

      • Mismarker

She did! Sadly, she was robbed of the gold by the Russian judge.

      • hmariec19

DAMMIT you beat me to it.

      • alyce1213

Do you remember who wore the blue “Happy Chanukah” skating dress? (I remember your line, but not the wearer.)
        “Merry Christmas!”

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I believe it was Lizzy Caplan. I hate when the holidays get all up in our faces before Halloween has even passed.

      • tereliz

LOL, your skating jib was much more hilarious than mine.

      • Rhonda Shore

it’s way too long for a skating dress…i think she looks adorable!

      • SouthernGirlRena

My mind immediately went there too. “Next up in the ladies free style, Emmy Rossum from the US. She needs an 8.5 to stay in this competition.” All she is missing are those weird flesh toned tights.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

Took the words right out of my big mouth. That bodice has skating costume written all over it.
I do wish she’d chosen a different lip color-that red against her porcelain skin and the orange/red dress is clashing.

      • mshesterp

Annabelle–you are a TLo treasure and one of my favorite reasons to come to the site. Love.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I am speechless. And blushing profusely. Thank you!

      • Noah

        Read my mind.

      • marlie

Of course I see this after I posted my comment. ;)

      • Lily-Rygh

Exactly — this should have been the winning entry in Project Runway’s figure skater dress contest.

    • SewingSiren

      Inspiration: Lydia Deetz.

    • Ginger

I’m usually a HUGE Elie Saab fan, but this dress just isn’t working for me. Maybe it’s the ice skater silhouette? It’s a beautiful color on her though!

    • Lesley

everythings too matchy matchy, too much red i feel like my eyes are bleeding looking at this

    • Karen Belgrad

She looks like a baby-Victoria Grayson!

    • Laura Renee

That dress looks superb on her,and I don’t mind the make-up. Can overlook nails and shoes.

    • kipper

      The Full Ice Dancing…

    • Akmall Razlan

My eyes go straight to her make-up and say, no no no… the make up was too serious for this amazing and graceful dress. And the hair? Please, you are no Aeon Flux to be such ANTM look. It she buns the hair and go for smooth make-up, it would change the perspective of her appearance, but now, NO!

    • Jessica Freeman

The make up and hair are too harsh for this look. Also, all the matchy is a no. We all survived the 80′s…let’s leave it there.

    • AnneElliot

Pretty dress, but I think the long version would have been a real stunner. Too much makeup, sadly.

      • LipstickForPigs

The neckline is much prettier on the long version.

    • Chris

The dress and the hair look beautiful but why is she paying someone to make her eyes look like mine BEFORE I put my concealer on in the morning? That’s not a great look.

    • Katesymae

Eh. It’s not revolutionary, but she looks hot. The End.

    • tereliz

Hate to reuse such an old gag, but it looks like she’s ready for her short-program. Her skin is the exact color of illusion netting.

    • MilaXX

Matchy as all get out, but I Ike it.

    • Janet B

      I rarely like her makeup.

    • PastryGoddess

      Ice Dancing with the Stars

    • veriance

the first picture all I can see is Johnny Weir. ~done~

      • Imasewsure

Johnny would rock the crap out of this!! :)

    • willworktomorrow

I love the winter Olympics! Those ice dancers are so pretty.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Skating is the main reason I watch the Winter Olympics-and Johnny Weir will be doing color commentary for the Sochi games.

        • demidaemon

Same here. I wonder how many jabs he will make at the Russians.

    • Kent Roby

Oh, Honey, the trowel you use to apply your makeup is not your friend!

    • Imasewsure

It’s her Halloween costume: Ariana Grande Junior Prom Zombie… very clever!!

    • Jacqueline Wessel

I love it, matchy shoes and all.

    • decormaven

I can’t get past the eye makeup to adequately address the outfit.

    • BKagainwiththesweatpants

Hiddy makeup, but, thinking about it, actually just about right for this ice skating outfit.

    • Crystal

      hate that hair. HATE.

    • boweryboy

      Nope. Cute shoes, though.

    • AzSportsGirl

Irrational Hate List. Always has been.

    • Mary229

It’s a really cute dress but it reminds me of something I wore to a winter formal when I was 14.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

It was sweet of her to let her 6 year old neighbor do her make-up.

    • KayEmWhy

      Luv it!

Yeah, hon, if you’re going with smokey eyes, you need a nude lip. If you’re going with red lips, you need lighter eyes. Either way, your foundation is MUCH too dark, especially on your forehead, and the contouring photographs like a dirty face. In other words, you look like a consumptive hooker.

    • formerlyAnon

That is a damn cute dress on her and it fits like a dream. She shouldn’t have gone so monochromatic with nails, lip & shoes, though.

    • GillianHolroyd

That dress just reads skimpy to me. The fabric is too lightweight for all that embellishment.

    • another_laura

Even though I’m giggling with the ‘skating costume’ remarks, I have to say that I didn’t think that until I saw the comment. Until then, I thought this was a really lovely dress and that she looks great.

    • crash1212

All skate. She sure is pretty though and she rocks the red.

    • Trickytrisha

Wowser, our BK’s seem to have missed their morning coffee today. I’m on the Loving It side of the fence here. It’s a beautiful dress on a beautiful woman.

This whole “ice skater dress” thing has me puzzled. I’m assuming it’s the short flared skirt that some of us find offensive? I’ve followed figure skating for decades, have witnessed some lovely costumes and some hideous ones, but in general they have to be a certain length, facilitate ease of movement, and not impede the skater. Lots of them are sequined nightmares, but other than that (and some pretty egregious of illusion fabric) they tend to follow what’s in fashion. Vera Wang designed skating dresses for Michelle Kwan and Nancy Kerrigan. Frankly am a tad distraught that a lovely dress like this is dissed because of its supposed resemblance to some cliche.

      • J. Preposterice

I think the thing is, this is a dress that can look like an ice skating costume, or it can not, depending on the styling. The matchy shoes & lipstick, the heavy, stage-y makeup, and the pulled back hair — these all emphasize its resemblance to a skating costume. Compare the model’s styling; no one would say she looks like she’s heading into her short program, because she’s got subtle eye makeup, a nude lip, and her hair is down.

    • AlisonS

She looks like an ice stater. Is she starring in a Nancy Kerrigan bio-pic no one told us about?!

    • E. D.

Quit it with that eye makeup. Is this a half-assed attempt at that brown “smoky eye”?

    • marlie

The dres is a little bit ice-skater-ish. Her makeup is fine, but her hair and shoes are boring.

    • rondele

Emmy Rossum, red is one of your colors. I love this dress on her. I think she wears it better than the model. This is a WERQ for me. Hair, makeup, dress, shoes, I can find no fault here. Oh, and jewelry is great, too.

    • Pterodactyl111

Different make-up, and I would like it.

    • quiltrx

I love the dress, and her. Makeup’s a bit heavy, and the ponytail is part of what I think is driving many to the ice-skater comments.

    • MannahattaMamma

      what’s next? a triple-toe loop followed by a double axel? #icerink

    • Olga Frayman
