Emma Roberts in Cushnie et Ochs at the America Horror Story: Coven Premiere

Posted on October 07, 2013

Honestly? We love this look, head to toe. Well. Neck to toe.

Emma Roberts attends the premiere of FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven” in West Hollywood, California in a Cushnie et Ochs dress paired with Christian Louboutin pumps.

Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2013 Collection/Model: Grace Mahary

Yeah, we’re a little surprised by that too. Especially since we’ve been railing against the bridal white pointy-toed pumps a lot lately. And we rarely like whites on pale gals. And we tend to think belly skin on the red carpet is something that should be avoided 999 times out of a thousand. But this is so sharp and head-turning a look that we can’t work up the hate. It’s true that we don’t actually like the hair that much, but it’s not actively working against it. Still, a tight Hitchcock blonde up ‘do would’ve really brought this someplace.

Nepotism Roberts clearly didn’t get the same hair genes Aunt Julia did.

    • Maybe not, but she’s got “The Best of the Best” genes…

    • willworktomorrow

      “Nepotism Roberts” made me snort.

  • manina

The ornament on her chest looks dangerous, I hope she does not fall.

    • kimmeister

Or bend forward. I’m gagging just looking at it.

    • YoungSally

Kinda has a post zombie apocalypse wonder woman thing going on.

    • anonylind

They should have polished it before they sent her out the door. It’s all smudged.

  • E2_Remote

Sorry Uncles, but I could only get behind this if she had a little rainbow on one side of her solar plexus and gone full on “Dark Side of the Moon” album cover. Think of it, she could have displayed her love of classic rock AND support for LGBT rights simultaneously. Sigh…opportunity lost.

  • Glam Dixie

Whoa that is a metric shit ton of eye makeup, and the dress looks a lot better on the model to my eye. But overall it’s chic and against my better judgement, I kinda like it.

  • The more I see her, the more easily I find it to believe the gossip about her.
I don’t like anything that is happening here. She is far too wet behind the ears to pull off that dress. Though, since I really hate the dress, maybe it doesn’t matter.

    • ashtangajunkie

I know nothing about her, but you’ve piqued my interest with your first statement.

      • Tracy_Flick

Mine too! At least a link?

        • There’s been whispers of drugs, copious amounts of booze, some domestic disturbances. Don’t look now, but the offspring of a C List celebrity might just be a hot mess. Shocking, I know.

          • marlie

Well, the abuse stuff isn’t just whispers. She was arrested for abusing her boyfriend (Evan Peters, also on AHS) during the summer. As for the drugs and booze, that’s the first I’m hearing about it, but those things so often go hand-in-hand with abuse.

ETA: Her arrest didn’t go any further because he declined to press charges.

      • Fanny_Trollope

Domestic assault on her boyfriend and a horrible temper. Allegedly. Who knows.

  • mshesterp

Ooh…no, kind sirs. Not a fan here, for all the reasons you mentioned. I think the color washes her out, the shoes aren’t the same shade of white, her eye makeup is terrible, I don’t want to see that much of her belly (and that tight of a frock enhancing said belly), and it’s doing weird things to her bust. And white nail polish. Just…no thank you. It might catch my eye, but I’d rather it be caught by something more pleasing (like Charlize in that white Stella.)

    • Blair Sylvester

Stella should send Cushnie et Ochs flowers, This may be one of the few times that one of her designs was liked more than a similar design by a different designer.

      • Glam Dixie

Oh, I don’t know, put Charlize in this dress and opinions could swing wildly in the other direction.

        • Blair Sylvester

haha very true, I hadn’t thought about that.

    • Little_Olive

Yeah, this is an OUT if I ever saw one. Thanks for typing. I’m tired.

  • amaranth16

I think the hem is a smidgen too low – it makes her legs look stumpy. But otherwise I like this look a lot… apart from that trailer-park dye job.

  • alyce1213

I’ll be happy to hate this for you, uncles. It’s cheap-looking and the bodice is uniquely unflattering. The metal weapon on her chest is a clunky, awkward and dangerous-looking design feature. Don’t like the white shoes. But most of all, I hate the over processed, sloppy mermaid hair.

    • GillianHolroyd

ah yes, *cheap-looking* was the adjective I was searching for.

Sorry fellas, this is trailer park territory.

      • RebeccaKW

If the caption was “dress from The Body Shop,” I would believe it.

  • bellafigura1

Oh no no. She doesn’t have the skin tone, the body or the life experience for this dress.

    • mshesterp

Ha–I love the thought of having to have enough “life experience” for a dress!

    • MilaXX

yup, just one look at the model working the dress like it’s supposed to be worn tells you why this is wrong for her.

  • Kent Roby

She is wearing white to go against her role (since she plays a witch), but has that triangle to reference the illuminati symbol, just to mess with us. Well played.

  • Blair Sylvester

Dont love the strip of stomach and really really hate that big metal triangle it reminds me both of a bathing suit fastener and the plastic loops my mom used to run her turtlenecks through when she wore them with leggings. Ahh memories

    Sartorial ouija board?

  • MilaXX

Nope, I don’t like her makeup, still hating the white pump and I don’t like this dress with her skintone. Not working for me at all.

  • marlie

FIERCE dress, and ok makeup (more color on the lips, please). The shoes are fine. But I can’t get past the sloppy hair. This look called for something more sleek than this.

  • E. D.

It’s nice, but that hair needs a bucket of deep conditioner.

  • Imasewsure

Dress is better than its wearer here I think. I do love the dress… still hate the shoes though!!

  • save_the_hobbit

She always looks like she’s been on a crack binge and for some reason I am so, so attracted to her. LET ME LOVE YOU EMMA ROBERTS. I DISAGREE WITH TLO YOUR DRESS IS UGLY BUT STILL I WILL GO OUT WITH YOU.

I’m sorry. My lesbian force is strong today, I saw a really hot picture of Raven Symone earlier.

  • decormaven

You need four inches of bod and a great birthday.

  • nannypoo

Wow. I hate everything about this look. I don’t even like her wite-out manicure.

    • alyce1213

I didn’t even notice the manicure at first. More reason to hate the whole look.

  • I love the chest ornament for disciplining young ladies with poor posture. Every slumper and sloucher in Hollywood should have one.

    • alyce1213

Lena Dunham needs one of them, stat.

  • Her hair looks greenish in a lot of the pictures. She should reconsider this color, because it’s doing nothing for her. I suppose she goes blond because Aunt Julia so owns brunette and redheaded looks, but I bet an ash blond would work better than this yellow-yellow.

    • Fanny_Trollope

Yes on the green. I see I too. And no on the overall look. I’m with the Cheap ‘n’ Trashy party.

  • Garcia Loca

It is an interesting dress, but I’m worried about Miss Emma cutting up her sternum with that pointy-triangle thingie-thing.

  • RebeccaKW

I don’t know that I really like this dress, or that I like it on her. I do think part of why what is basically a bikini top and a skirt doesn’t read quite as vulgar on her as it could, is b/c she is tiny. No body snark. I mean, she has a very small chest so no side or under boob and her body is basically a straight line, so no va-va-voom hips or booty.

She seriously needs some good hair and makeup gays. I’m not sure she’s employing anyone.

  • She pulls it off better than I would have guessed, but I can’t with the cutouts.

  • KateShouldBeWorking

She’s serving Adult Video Awards realness.

  • boweryboy

  • DTLAFamilies

    This is Lindsay Lohan’s dress.

  • WittyCism

I love it when we “less endowed” girls go for broke with the plunging neckline. The lack of cleavage takes it away from slutty. I even like the midi-length skirt. But child, you’re too young to look this tired. Get thee to a spa.

  • BrooklynBomber

    Good lord.

  • sunflower

The gaping at the bust really bugs. Plus all I can see is Dark Side of the Moon

  • VicD

    Irrational hate list.

  • crash1212

Do no like. Any of it. My theory is if you can see the veins through your skin, perhaps you should avoid belly baring garments. Don’t like the dress, don’t like it on her.

  • Lori

Those shoes are not good. They’re not the same white as the dress, plus they’re shiny. No.

  • SugarSnap108

Nope. This belongs on a mannequin at Strawberry’s.

  • abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxqyz

    drug addict.

  • Trickytrisha

Assuming that the mottling is a product of the photograph, I don’t mind the bit of belly skin and the dress looks goodish from the back, but frankly that’s about as enthusiastic as I can get about this look on her. When your exposed tummy extends out further than your chest, then maybe it’s time to rethink your outfit, especially one that apparently can impale you if you aren’t careful. Those shoes are way too, well.. white? And shiny? Not even gonna address the hair and makeup thing.

So, this is one time I’m afraid our dear uncles might need to take a cleaning cloth to their undoubtedly fashionable eyewear.

  • Lilak

One of these days she’ll get the hair color right …. ?
Not holding my breath, since she tends not to understand her skin tone w/r/t clothing either.

  • Rockin’ it girl.

  • I think a gal with a tan might have been able to rock this look; this is far too pasty for me, fellas.

  • hmatz

My initial response to this was “Oy, vey.”

  • Diego!

    Very nice! Well played Emma!

  • HobbitGirl

This just reads “Fancy Chestburster” to me. Not a fan.

  • tereliz

I don’t think it fits properly in the bust or skirt. And her hair is making me hate the entire look.

  • Lucas

She looks a mess from head to toe. Bad hair, ugly dress (not even cleaned properly!), and poor color choice. She is a pretty enough girl, but this whole look is completely unflattering on her.

  • Trisha26

This is just plain hideous and cheap from head to toe – for me. And is it my eyes or are we seeing veins across her stomach? Just no.

  • anotherkate

I don’t think that shade of blonde is doing her any favors. It looks positively yellow in some lights. Plus, The Roots are a band, not a good look.

As for the dress…I guess I’m not feeling it. She looks put together enough, but I just don’t love the attempt at “edgy” here. I don’t believe she is even a little bit edgy in real life, so it feels kind of put-upon to me.

  • Kate Andrews

I was gonna say, are they really endorsing mermaid hair? Of course not! I should have more faith in TLo than that.
