Elle Fanning at LAX

Posted on October 04, 2013

If you didn’t tell us who this was, it might have taken us a while to figure it out.

Elle Fanning arrives at LAX.

We’re so not used to seeing her in so much color. And to be honest, we’re not all that used to her wearing something that isn’t a little stiff or awkward on her. This all looks pretty fantastic to us. Maybe it’s all a bit random, but when a gal’s strolling past the airport paps trailing her Hello Kitty play luggage set behind her (all the LOVES in the world), we suppose a little style leniency is in order.

She looks really cute, in a haphazard kinda way.

Do you think she wore that leather skirt on the flight? Doubtful. Because I would need to take a China Syndrome bath sitting in that for a cross-oceanic/continental flight. Love the jacket, though.

    • bellafigura1

Nah, she squirmed out of her sweats under the blankie, and in to her leathuh. Can’t say I haven’t done the same!

      • yep, except that you either change in the plane bathroom before you land or in the airport before you leave. That way you feel fresh and not a grubby mess from being on a plane for hours, freshen your makeup, hair etc. . been there done that many times.

but she surely flies on First Class, right? I think it’s comfortable there…

      • boweryboy

… and probably in a private jet.

  • I see a chic, world traveling, cooler than I could ever be, but surprisingly sweet girl who can jet set like a boss. Mean Girl law dictates that I should hate her, but I totally don’t. Play on up and coming Playa.

Call me wrong for this but it all feels crafted to look haphazard. Those clothes are look a bit much for traveling and the luggage feels like someone trying to mind us that she’s still a kid.

    • SugarSnap108

The luggage makes me feel that way. It seems like either a reminder that she’s a kid, or an “Aren’t I quirky?” move. I think her outfit’s really cute, though — minus the shoes.

ROTFL, because I am dying thinking of all the couture goodies she’s hauling back from Paris in a damn Hello Kitty wheelie.

There’s a huge nostalgia factor to Hello Kitty for people my age and younger- many things that were popular when we were in elementary school aren’t anymore, but Hello Kitty has major staying power among little girls, so there’s still a lot of products. My best friend and I just went “Squee!” when we saw the pictures, and we both kind of wish we had this luggage. We’re seniors in college.

      • fursa_saida

I wasn’t into it, but one of my best friends in school (from elementary all the way through high school) was, and so it still gives me warm fuzzy memory feelings anyway. (We graduated college three years ago.)

      • Great point. I still unironically love (original, 80’s) Strawberry Shortcake and buy merchandise when I come across it.

    • Sunraya

Yeah, she is quite old for Hello Kitty luggage. She isn’t 11, is she?? That is when that stuff stops being appropriate, and is silly, trying to make a statement.

        • Sunraya

She’s 13??? Well, hell, then my question about what she is doing at Paris Fashion Week instead of studying with a tutor is even more relevant!! Just because you can go to Fashion Week doesn’t mean you should. I don’t understand any of these people. Yes, I am a teacher.

      • Anita Karenin

        Tarina Tarantino says otherwise.

  • mmebam

The jacketses, Gives it to me, precioussss…

    • kimmeister

It is easily the chicest thing she’s ever been photographed in.

  • Erica_Vuitton

    Ohhhhhhhh I looove that skirt!

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I hear you. I wanted a skirt like that back when she was being conceived. *Feeling 1,000 years old for saying that*

      • Erica_Vuitton

I once owned a similar color knee length leather skirt from the GAP. It sat in my closet unworn for about a year and in a fit of Spring closet cleaning I got rid of it. Its probably my biggest fashion regret. Every single September when Fall rolls in I kick myself for the stupidity of that action.

  • boweryboy

Weird. This is most stylish I’ve ever seen her. Not completely sold on the Hello Kitty luggage, though.

  • sagecreek

But yet, the ubiquitous stank booties. Et tu, Elle?

    • quiltrx

She does appear to have socks on, though (white peeking out first and last pic). Maybe not so stank after all.

      • Bridget Smith

Everyone’s first reaction is always “STANK BOOTIES!!!!” which, frankly, doesn’t make a ton of sense. A) She’s probably wearing little socks, and B) LAX in October is not the Southern California desert in April, a la Coachella.

Of course, you might hate them on appearance alone, and I will not fight you over that. 😉

  • I would recognize Cher Horowitz anywhere.

    • fursa_saida

      Needs more thigh-highs.

  • Angela_the_Librarian

Love the Hello Kitty luggage (though at the moment I’m seriously coveting a Game Boy carry-on from think geek). I have to give props to anyone who travels in anything other than sweat/pajama/yoga pants.

  • Jumpingjacks

I doubt her luggage ever gets stolen

  • HM3

Love this! The only thing *really* clashing is the Hello Kitty carry-on, which I separately love as a statement piece. I’m sure, if Ms. Fanning chose, she would have a security team carrying all her adorable luggage for her, but this one seemed deliberately dragged.

I’ll bet there are some Hello Kitty airplane-pajamas in that one…

  • BrooklynBomber

    A great look .

  • quiltrx

LOVE the little jacket and the HK suitcase!

  • tired_mommy

She looks like she got into mom’s closet and is playing dress up.

  • I’m surprised at all the color and pattern. Cute!

  • Danielle

The swamp ass from sitting in a plane seat in a leather skirt must be epic.

  • marlie

Not crazy about the outfit, but I’m SO amused by the luggage.

  • Trickytrisha

Kinda like she closed her eyes and picked stuff at random from her closet. And it all works, in a haphazard kind of way.

  • kathrineb

The jacket is cool, I don’t know how well it works with the skirt, but good on her for having fun with it!

  • Sunraya

Why isn’t her face shiny when she is out and about? It would seem that it would be shinier in every day life? Are make-up artists her enemy??
