Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera at “The Family” Premiere

Posted on October 16, 2013

We’re not impressed by the hair, but the dress is sheer perfection.

Dianna Agron attends the premiere of “The Family” at Kino in der Kulturbrauerei in Berlin in a Carolina Herrera black and white printed gown paired with a Jimmy Choo clutch.

Carolina Herrera Resort 2014 Collection

A beautiful dress on its own, it also happens to fulfill her requirement to be covered up, for the most part. She likes the demure look and that’s tough to pull off in 2013. You can’t do any better than turning to someone like Carolina Herrera for help. It should be her go-to brand.

We’re digging the makeup, but the hair’s so limp and plain-looking to our eyes. Also: that clutch doesn’t really go all that well.

Still, it’s an “Attagirl” if ever we saw one. More of this, please.

I want to see her hair up with this dress.

      • Anna Vasquez

Or even just… y’know… styled at all? A side part? A little finger wave? Something?

      • decormaven

Really! Just the simplest twist of hair up and this would have been truly WERQ-worthy.

    • TrixieConQueso

Super sweet and reflects her ultra feminine style. Just love it. Might look like a Moo-Moo on others, but she wears it well.

Actually, the reason the dress is perfection is because it’s NOT sheer! ;o)

    • Karen Belgrad

It took me a minute, but then it came to me… It’s Maureen McCormick’s hairstyle from a few years ago. (Don’t ask why I know this)

      That’s not a compliment.

    • ovarB

I think if the studs on the clutch were not in that gold/brass tone, it would go with the dress. The scale of the studs on the clutch work well with the scale of the floral print.

    • norseofcourse

The shape (and the hair) have a retro, late-70′s prom feel. And I say that as a compliment.

      • ballerinawithagun

I was just thinking that I wore that dress to prom! My hair was the same also. I love it!

    • Emily Giovanni

Gorgeous. Only quibble is that the dress really calls for an updo.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I need that dress in my life.
      She looks lovely.

    • Jessica Freeman

She should have pulled her hair back. I covet that dress.

    • Janet B

Pretty and the perfect dress for Dianna.

    • In_Stitches

She looks like a young Kate Winslet. Minor quibbles-the shoulders are a bit strong and the clutch doesn’t go, but the overall effect is fabulous.

    • ashtangajunkie

Perfect, perfect dress. I don’t know where I would wear it, but I bet I could figure it out pretty quickly if it magically showed up in my closet.

    • crash1212

I like the soft hair. I think it ‘youthens’ up the look. Love the dress. Not the right clutch. Quibbles though – she looks great.

    • teensmom99

Even before I saw your commentary, I thought “of course, Agron and Herrara–now THAT works.”

    • PlethoraofBooks

Adore the dress. I’ll take it in my closet please :)

    • Watts

I’m just thrilled to see a female celeb with shoulder-length or just-past-shoulder-length hair. I’m sick to death of the mid-torso length that’s dominated for at least a decade or more now.

    • Little_Olive

I think this is the first time I think she looks very very well.

On a side note, she is coincidentally looking a lot like a blond Carolina Herrera de Baez (CH jr.) there.

    • Tatiana Luján

I think that shade of blonde cheapens her looks. She looks very pretty, otherwise.

      • RebeccaKW

I really dislike that tone for her. I’m sure she spent my rent payment or more at the salon, but it looks like she did this dye job herself with a box of color off the clearance row at Family Dollar.

        • demidaemon

They have hair color at Family Dollar that isn’t hairspray?!

    • SewingSiren

I wish she had styled her hair in more of a 1940′s victory roll . Other than that I approve.

    • boweryboy

      Those shoulders….

    • bellafigura1

She makes the dress, honestly, it falls flat on the Herrera model.

    • SusannaGA

I do love this dress, but the sleeves and shoulders are giving a bit of an Imelda Marcos vibe.

    • marlie

This is the best she’s looked in a really, really long time. I **LOVE** this dress on her. It’s perfect. The clutch is fine, and her makeup is pretty. I don’t even mind the hair that much. Attagirl, indeed.

    • LipstickForPigs

So often I see her on the red carpet and it’s hard to remember that this is the same girl who is almost painfully lovely on Glee…this is the first time that I’ve seen her featured and have not been disappointed.

    • tereliz

If you’re going to do black and white, at least do it with an interesting pattern. And this one manages not to overwhelm her petite frame. Attagirl, Diana. I want this dress now.

    • DesertDweller79

I love this dress. I’m with Diana, and prefer a more covered up look. If I were rich, I’d probably look to Herrera as well. This dress looks beautiful on her.

      • housefulofboys

I commented on the Herrera bridal post that – given the funds – I would dress in mostly her clothes as well. We’ve got great taste!

    • fringebenefit

Except for the black roots, I think she looks utterly divine. I don’t mind the hairstyle at all (except for the black roots). A belt. A wonderful belt! All terrific except for…did I mention?…the black roots.

    • quiltrx

Love the dress! But the early-80s hair is not serving it well.

One bobby pin could have changed everything.

    • sagecreek

Anyone else having trouble with Disqus this morning?

    • jilly_d

Personal Best. I never realized how much she looks like Julia from Parenthood.

    • tixilyttik

It’s refreshing to see a lovely young woman covered up for a change.

    • bertkeeter

Love the fact that she is somewhat covered….tired of just T n A on red carpet!

    • http://piblet.tumblr.com/ Anastasia

      She looks radiant!

    • H2olovngrl

Her makeup is giving her an exotic, somewhat hispanic look that I’ve never really noticed on her before. Interesting, and way more versatile than I thought she was capable of.

    • Tracy_Flick

I actually like the hair, I think it goes with the slightly 70s vibe of the dress. If I could change anything, it would be those puffy sleeves.

    • Danielle

This dress is perfection on her. Wish her hair had been up.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

“Sweet” That’s what this look says to me. I love that dress.

    • colleenjanel

Is it just me, or does she look sad? Or at least unhappy. She usually has a much brighter expression.

    • MilaXX

Not bad except the hair and the bag don’t go.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i think she looks abso beautiful. a total seventies lady of the canyon moment. she and carolina should start going steady.

    • oohsparkley!

I love it all. Hair included. It’s clean, shiny and wavy.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

That should be her go-to. She looks lovely. I want that dress. She can’t wear it again right? I’m going to send her my address.

    • Alloy Jane

Some fashion victim stylist thought a maxi dress was in need of pretend Farrah hair. I hate the makeup too. It gives her mannequin face. Great dress and clutch though.

    • pop_top

That’s a lovely dress. I wish I could afford that.

    • Candigirl1968

The hair is very 70s, but the dress is wonderful. If Dianna (or her stylist) can snag more CR for the red carpet, I think it would really work for her.
