“Hey guys- what if I made a dress out of ribbon candy?”
Well, now we know. And I’m good.
He looks like he showered, so there’s that.

      • NinaBoo

        “Ribbon candy”

        Nailed it.

      • Lucía Gavello

I don’t hate the dress but it would take a PHD wearer to pull it off, and I’m talking Iman level. He always looks like an aging 90’s boyband member to me.

        • Snailstsichr

Bless her heart – this dress is just about a grade above her pay grade in clothes wearing. Close, but not enough fierce diva.

      • alyce1213

“what if I made a dress out of ribbon candy?”
        Is that a bad thing?

      • NYCGlamourpuss

Which soap and water would be a first for him. Bleeeccch. He makes James Franco look like a germaphobe.

      • Brian G. Cox

My first thought was a Rothko canvas.

        • Sarah

A very SHINY Rothko. One that also makes its wearer look like a huge rectangle, not unlike a Rothko canvas.

    • SouthernGirlRena

I am pretty sure I could make that dress out of duct tape and her shoes made me giggle. He looks alternately terrified, angry and confused. So it was a win for me but not so much from their point of view.

      • Calista14

When I first looked at the dress I automatically thought duct tape else!

        • 3boysful

I did, too, and cringed when I saw it was Dior.

          • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I know, right? DIOR?!!! THIS IS DIOR?!!!

        • Rhonda Shore

          I thought oil cloth!

    • Jennifer

He looks like someone just woke him from a very deep sleep screaming “Smile, you’re on the red carpet!”

    • MilaXX

Wow I like. I almost wish this was a pairs division.
Him – I am pleasantly surprised at how clean and well put together he looks. I’m even gonna ignore the double hoops. 7.75/10
Her – I absolutely LOVE the unusual dress/shoes & bracelet. Love the hair and the neural but not dead makeup. For being so daring I’mm give it a 8/10

    • crash1212

Some thoughts: I wonder how long it takes to learn to walk in those shoes? I kind of like them. I don’t understand the fabric of her dress…is it plastic? I love that gigantic cuff. He looks pretty snappy, although I could do without the double pierced hoops and the slickered back hair.

    • Imasewsure

You gotta wear the crazy necklace (and be a model with classic bitch face) to make that dress work. Not working here. Also Colin Farrell just shouldn’t do red carpet events. He looks shell shocked (and a bit like Guy Fieri)

      • MikeW_Vegas

It’s never a good sign when you’re being compared to Guy Fieri.

      • 3boysful

You’re so right–that dress needs the punctuation of the necklace. And it needs a weightier/stronger but less tacky shoe.

CF’s little hoops just scream “douche” to me. But I like his coat, and pant hems are good.

    • Kelly

“I’m just a gigolo, and everywhere I go / People know the part I’m playin’. . .” David Lee did it better.

As for Ruth, the dress is way too shiny, and the shape is unflattering; it flattens her chest and rounds her stomach. Plus, it looks like a kid’s bad watercolor. And is that a stain on the fabric?

    • Aidan B

I love Ruth for her work on Luther, so it’s hard for me to say anything really mean about her. That said, I do actually like this (and she looks like she does, too), although I wonder how the hell she walks in those shoes.

      • anyalama

Cantilever heel shoes make my legs hurt, just to look at. Aside from that, I actually like the look, too.

      • nowlo

I would have loved this look if the dress weren’t so plasticky-looking. The colors and edgy accessories seem right for her.

      • Judy_S

I love her in Luther, too. Just watched Small Island, mostly to see her. So my eyes are dazzled and to me she looks just the right combination of edgy and yummy.
        I find him really uninteresting.

      • DTLAFamilies

She’s wonderful and completely different as Jane Eyre opposite Toby Stephens. Worth checking out if you only know her as a femme fatale.

        • Eclectic Mayhem

Hell Yeah! I think it was her first gig out of drama school too – she’s astounding.

And as for Toby Stephens? *faints*

        • Aidan B

I’ve been meaning to watch that! It keeps popping up on my Netflix homepage.

        • Adriana_Paula

I think she is my favorite Jane Eyre ever. Mia who?

          • DTLAFamilies

Totally agree! The Mia/Fassbinder Jane Eyre was so boring. Ruth Wilson was wonderful, breaking your heart one minute and getting you rooting for her the next. And I love me some Toby Stephens even though his interpretation of Rochester was kind of off.

            • bitchybitchybitchy

As much as I like Fassbender and Mia, their Jane Eyre was meh. I much preferred Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens-great chemistry!

      • littlemac8

Thank You! I couldn’t place her. She was fabulous on Luther! Quite delicious, she is!

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

He looks pretty damn good. I’ve missed him. He’s a favorite bad boy of mine.
She should be applauded for all the effort. And excused for the dress issues of wonky fit.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Colin has cleaned up nicely;I grant you, I have had a soft spot for him ever since I saw him in “In Bruges”.

        • TrixieConQueso

Colin. LeSigh. Have him scrubbed and brought to my tent.

    • hughman

Who doesn’t love a dress you can Windex and Wear?

      • demidaemon

        Exactly my thoughts. Sadly.

    • Lori

I give her full props for trying this, but I don’t think it’s quite working for her. It’s tough to pull off a dress that looks like you clean it by wiping it down with a damp sponge.

As usual he looks like he has no idea why he’s on the red carpet. I can understand that since seems like it would be a really weird experience, but at this point he either needs to learn to act like a guy who feels reasonably comfortable on the RC or figure out a way to get out of doing them, because it’s getting sort of ridiculous. Also, I don’t think the earrings are working for him any more (if they ever really did). And ditto to whoever said he’s looking a little Guy Fieri, which I assume was not the goal.

      • 1964edithgrove

Those earrings take an air of confidence. Appearing in them while scared just makes you look like a boob. Which surely he can’t be.

        • formerlyAnon

          Nailed it.

    • Miss WKS

wtf Christian Dior. That outfit triggered a migraine…..

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Do you think that Monsieur Dior is rolliing elegantly in his grave?

        • manina

          I am sure he is.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

And those of us who love him are quietly weeping into our tissues and sipping a glass of fine wine in his memory

    • jw_ny

He looks like he doesn’t stink for a change, so kudos for that, and I won’t criticize the funeral outfit…however (!), geesh…she’s standing there bare shouldered and he has on an overcoat!? #$&*@!

She tho…I almost like the dress…fabric that can be sponged of tho…um, no. The shoes …what an awful heel. And that cuff…idk…on one hand that dress needs something bold to compliment it, otoh, gawd that’s one big bold cuff, and it really doesn’t compliment the look.

    • schadenfreudelicious

      Alice!

    • Diego!

HE: NO! That jacket is too big and those earrings must go, NOW!
SHE: NO! Honey you look as if you want to be pregnant and are inflating your belly on purpose. That is so NOT your dress, nor make up, nor hair… And don’t make me mention those hideous shoes…

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I like the dress the more I look at it but that doesn’t make it any less a Frankendress. The Bracelet is the best part of the whole look. The shoes? Hee.

    • lesmaha

are those shoes she’s wearing actually comfortable?
Or is that the wrong question to ask?

    • claudemtl777

He is a vampire king, no doubt…but of all the Male Celebrities, I am quite sure he is THE BEST FUCKING SEX EVER!!! And yeah, that coat/jacket is too big… and her? I saw the bracelet first, nuff said…

      • Heather

Agreed. It would be dirty, but good.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

He does nothing for me. That dress is amazing.

      • marlie

        Ditto, and ditto.

    • GillianHolroyd

Yeaaahhh, no. One does not sport mermaid hair with Dior Couture.

    • alyce1213

I imagine that dress is so much more beautiful in person and suffers from the harsh light and flashes. I think it’s magnificent, just exquisite fabric. I love the bracelet, too. I see that Christian Dior shoes has officially ripped off United Nude.
He looks startled, but he’s clean, well-shaven and gorgeous.

    • Debbie

Just when I thought women’s shoes couldn’t get any uglier…

    • ‘Becca’lise Deveaux

NO to absolutely all of it.

    • Tweety

      Her shoes look broken.

    • Trickytrisha

He looks really great. His pants aren’t too long and love the coat.

She, on the other hand, is hilarious. She doesn’t have the presence to pull off something like this dress, and the shoes make me giggle like a little kid. The dress does look somewhat better on the model, but she looks like she eats babies for snacks.

This is a score for the male side and a -10 for the females.

    • Julie

      iridescent duct tape dress.

    • Feathers McGraw

She looks like the southernmost very shiny lady of the continental USA.

    • JauntyJohn

I think Mr. Farrell looks like a better version of his usual style, and that I think makes it work.

Ms. Wilson, once she realizes that the dress is wearing her much more than she is wearing the dress, can use the portable teleportation device on her wrist to ‘port out and switch it up.

      • stellamaris73

I was just thinking she could beam herself up with that thing.

        At least Colin looks clean.

    • littlemac8

WHAT is Colin wearing. A suit with a topcoat or some kind of morning jacket?? What gives. And that poor girl, Ruth, she can’t carry off her candy ass dress!!!

    • demidaemon

This is the skeevisest set of pics I have ever seen. He looks like a pimp and she looks like the girl he hires out. And she even has an easy clean vinyl dress!

    • River

Why is she wearing a dress made of duct tape?

    • shirab

With that mullet-y bit at his neck and his confused expression, I’m getting a late-80s Andre Agassi vibe.

    • marlie

I kind of love this dress, but I hate the shoes. She’s rocking the dress though. He looks great, as well, BUT either he’s sweating his balls off under that coat, or she’s freezing her ass off without one.

    • Darva Sutra

Dress, that is NOT your girl!

    • Nancer

      Love love love the dress!

    • Meredith

I’m so happy we all like this dress.

      • Meredith

Oh but the shoes…whoa. Like Dali.

    • http://weirdinedgewise.blogspot.com ONEWEIRDWORD

Groovy colourful dress & cuff bracelet. Love it. Such refreshing change from widows weeds, yes?

    • Sarah Caponigro

      Duct tape dress.

    • SewingSiren

      This is fun fashion.

    • Trisha26

I was having a problem with the dress…and then SHOES! Yikes! (Colin could wear anything, even this 30s gangster/banker attire, and I’d still love him.) But the SHOES you guys, the SHOES!

    • quiltrx

Colin looks like he finally got that much-needed Full Silkwood. I’ve never found him hot, but he has a certain twinkle in that first close-up. I think it’s because he’s serving up Anthony LaPaglia realness.
And she…wtf, did she beam in from 1987 or so? That fabric reminds me of something specific, but I’ll be darned if I can think of what.
Those shoes look both DREADFUL and DANGEROUS.

      • sandradee

The fabric reminds you of a Rothko painting.

    • RussellH88

      She’s wearing fruit roll ups.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

He looks like a gangster and she looks like his next victim, wrapped up in the carpet she’s going to be buried in.

    • Terri Terri

      Ridiculous City!
      Population: 2

    • bertkeeter

Shoe heel is just plain NOT sexy! For DIOR …dress not bad!

    • H2olovngrl

Wow, those are some ugly shoes.

    • sandradee

She really looks like she’s been wrapped in a Rothko painting, and covered it with cling wrap.

      • http://www.dogsdotcom.blogspot.com/ Plink

Poor Rothko is turning in his grave at such a thought.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

The bouncer at Sotheby’s on Bond St dresses like that.

    • Nicole Little

I like the dress until the too large red block.

    • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

She looks kick-ass in that wrapping paper. Bracelet is fantastic.

    • Nicoclaws

      He looks douche-y.
      She looks rideau de douche-y.

    • MannahattaMamma

they are proof that just because you CAN do something does not mean that you SHOULD do something.

    • Tatiana Luján

Ruth Wilson is extremely talented and I wish her all kinds of success, and a new stylist.

    • Heather

      Are these two a thing?

    • NYCGlamourpuss

You!!! Both of you! Go the fuck home and try again! And don’t come back till you get it right – now shoo!

    • NOLA_gal

A dress made of oversized curling ribbon stapled together at the edges? Who wouldn’t love that? *cough*

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Talk about a “scroll down fug”…..that dress gets worse and worse as it descends. And the shoes are making me hear the “stabbing” music from “Psycho”.

    • http://thishotoldbroad.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

Ooh, shiny! What was she thinking, dressing as a giant plastic tube? Colin Farrell looks stunned, like he had no idea he was supposed to be there and with her in that, that thing.

    • Kristobel

She looks like she stole a Mondrian painting and wrapped it around herself. Like she was wandering an art museum and her people called and were like “You have to be on the red carpet NOW!” and she panicked and ripped the first thing off the wall and ran. You are not Scarlett O’hara, girl.

    • formerlyAnon

Oh Mr. Farrell. I adore your top coat. It leads me to believe many positive things about the suit underneath. (But please, add an ear cuff or choose less generic little earrings, please?) A-.

Ms. Wilson, I hate the heels on your shoes. Your dress is somehow Not Quite. Still, a solid B. Not sure if that’s down to it, or to the ensemble. Maybe a necklace?

    • http://trooperschaf.blogspot.de/ TrooperSchaf

if I had to pick one thing to bitch about (although there are many): her shoes are fugly.

    • rissa42210

      That’s wearing her.

    • Presumptuous Insect

      Alice! Mwah!

    • Danielle

I’m not sure how I feel about her shoes. Part of me is wild about them, and part of me wants to burn them.

    • webslice33

love her in luther! an doh, i really dislike earrings on dudes

    • Pterodactyl111

I think I would like the dress if it wasn’t so shiny. Like if it was just matte.

    • GinaGeo

Colin! Hockey hair is a no-no unless you’re a high school boy in 1992 in the upper midwest. Even then it’s not good.

    • julnyes

He is just going to keep wearing those earrings, isn’t he?
