Chris Hemsworth for Details Magazine

Posted on October 18, 2013

Darlings, here is your Pretty of the Day. It’s also our Lazy Last Post of the Week because really, what else do we have to do but slap up some pictures and get out of the way.

Chris Hemsworth covers the November 2013 issue of Details magazine photographed by Mark Seliger.

On working hard in Hollywood: “(Jokingly) I paid my way in. My family’s in the Mafia. A couple of threats and bunch of cash goes a long way. Maybe I’m asking myself the same question you’re asking…I’ve worked my ass off over the years, but I can’t help but see that, relatively speaking, it all has been rather quick.”

On his career: “There’s a brief payout, and then the bar shifts again. I think that’s human nature. It keeps you moving forward, but it needs to be tempered a bit, too. I’ve been working solidly for a couple of years now, to the point where I have to slow down and spend some time with my family…You spend so long having your hand up, saying, ‘C’mon, c’mon—pick me!,’ there’s a fear of saying no to things. It’s bred into you. I get shit sent to me and I think, ‘I should probably just take this.’ But now I try to say, ‘Hold on—do you even like it?’ I do have a little control now. That’s the transition—I’m not at the mercy of someone else so much.”

Peace out, Girl Scouts.

  • Gayer Than Thou

He sure is working his Veronica Lake hair, isn’t he?

    • boweryboy

      Bring on the girls.

  • lundibleu

He’s very pretty, but I think I prefer little brother Liam. And bless him, he’s trying, but I don’t find that unbuttoned dress shirt and undone bow tie look hot on anyone.

I quite like his attitude though. It reads as normal rather than someone saying ‘oh, I got lucky’

    • Linda LaPaz

Disagree. I think Chris is the greater Hemsworth.

      • NYCGlamourpuss

Yup, I think that Chris is the Hemmier of the Hemsworths.

      • carlaaxtman

Chris is the Hemsworth that you eat with a spoon.

    • formerlyAnon

      Chris, hands down.

      • Nikko Viquiera

Chris, hands down, legs up. What?

    • sleepycat

Funny I would go for the brunette over the blond, but Liam is so much cuter. With Chris it is just like SCANDINAVIAN WARRIOR and his brother is more like the game hunter from that one book where, the lady of the house, who is married to a bitter and paralyzed man, falls in love with and in the end she basically waits with her sister until the game hunter can whisk her away to somewhere new so they can get married, despite not getting a divorce. GOD WHAT IS THAT BOOK?! Lady Chatterly’s Lover!

Anyway, Liam just has charm in his eyes, like there is a softness there.

      • Celandine1

But I am a big sucker for the Scandinavian Warrior look.

  • Aidan B

Where did he get Nick Carter’s 1998 hair?

    • Kristin McNamara

God, my love for Nick Carter in 1998 knew no bounds. Him and Brian. Holy tween crushes, Batman. Sends me back.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I think his lovely face and slamming bod get in the way of the truth…he is a damned fine actor. Hope he gets a non-hunky role so he can prove it.

    • Eclectic Mayhem

      He was great in Rush.

    • Kristin McNamara

I think any role he looks like himself in wouldn’t be able to be classified as a “non-hunky” role. Ergo, he’d probably have to take a role where he got uglied up like Charlize in Monster, just to prove he’s got the real ish.

    • TAGinMO

There are no non-hunky roles, only non-hunky actors.

  • Sara Leigh Merrey

    HATE the hair.

  • random_poster

Pretty boys those Hemsworths. Nice way to end a week, for sure.

  • ShaoLinKitten

I like it. I like it very much. Yes, even the hair.

  • tarqueeny

Basic and boring to look at. Very little acting talent. And his face seems to be sucking in his eyes.

    • DTLAFamilies

Agree. The Hemsworth boys do nothing for me.

    • Kimmu

Have you SEEN Rush? He was amazing in it and it was not an easy role.

      • tarqueeny

I felt he was trying to channel early Heath Ledger. I’m not impressed by him at all.

  • International Model

I want him to be my brother, and not in a Flowers in the Attic sort of way. I realize that I am in the vast minority here.

    • Domo_Konnichiwa

The sudden uptick in “friends” who want to hang out with your new family would get rather annoying.

  • annabelle archer

Do you think the hubby will notice if I keep my eyes shut tight and maybe, accidentally, call him Chris, next time we are amorous?

    • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

My husband objected strenuously. Just a warning.

      • NYCGlamourpuss

        Best post ever!

        • demidaemon

Jeez, does no one have a sense of humor around here? What is up with these downvotes?!

  • ashtangajunkie

Bless your hearts. A Hemsworth is good for the soul.

  • hughman

    That’s not hair, that’s a career.

  • Mismarker

The bigger story here is just what Corey Feldman has to say about former child stars. I gots ta know.

    • Bridget Smith

“Should you be exercising less?” Please go on.

  • Janet B

    Very Pretty.

  • DesertDweller79

Gorgeous! Love his quote about the fear of saying no. I’m a singer and my early teachers stressed that when you start you need to audition for everything and say YES to everything. Boy, I would love to get to a point where I could feel comfortable saying no.

He looks really good. Wish he would do a serious movie which I actually have an interest in seeing.

  • MilaXX

    Oh hey boo!. HEY!

    • Jaeda Laurez

      Exactly my sentiment.

  • amber.

“It has been relatively quick.” Not to negate any of your work as an actor, but you’re a hot, young, white male (seen here) with an accent. You weren’t going to be waiting around long.

    • formerlyAnon

That buys him a step or ten on some, but I bet it wouldn’t be hard to find plenty of hot, young, white males with accents still waiting. I like that he acknowledges he’s been fortunate.

  • macwell

    F**king delicious.. 😉

  • Isana Leshchinskaya

he’s got a peter o’toole thing going. also, i know we’re not supposed to comment on bodies and stuff, but did he get way dreamier once he lost all that meathead muscle weight he had for the superhero roles? maybe that’s just me. i much preferred henry cavill before the buffing up.

    • Jaeda Laurez

Peter had those piercing blue eyes when he was young too.

    • formerlyAnon

Personal taste (preferring less muscle), but one I agree with whole-heartedly.

  • TropiCarla

    Finest. White guy. Alive.

I admit a clear bias towards darker men, but Thor here is deity after all. #cannotsayno

  • suzinrva

For some reason all I can see is Ellen Pompeo’s / Meredith Grey’s face.

    • Kristin McNamara

OMG hahahahaha I never thought about that before, but I can *kinda* see what you mean in that close-up (pic #3).

  • Jaeda Laurez

Thank you. My Sausage Friday is made. He’s just…I don’t know where they make that, but I could use some.

  • putacorkinit

Meh. There’s no intelligence in the eyes or character in the posture and movement. He’s Tab Hunter of the 2010s.

  • ccinnc

    Holy guacamole. Very nice.

  • quiltrx

That delicious bang-flop gets me all weak in the knees…

  • frannyprof

He has amazing hands. I want them all over me, right now.

  • Trisha26

    I mean…gorgeous!

  • formerlyAnon

Lovely genes in that family. I prefer this vintage.

  • carpediva

Hate the tendril, but he is such a fine specimen of man.

  • Cameron Turner

  • Kimmu

The one where he’s biting his thumb makes me want to punch him in the teeth and then lick any resulting blood off his face. It’s like he was created by the Devil himself to be my downfall.

I keep hoping the hair means he’s growing it back out because I still mourn the death of his man bun.

    • Tamara Hogan

YES! I love the man-bun. Utterly, utterly hot.

      • Kimmu

I mean I find him frustratingly gorgeous any time, but with the long hair he becomes even more so like you just want to grab handfuls of it and pull…. ahem *coughs*

He’s got Avengers 2 to prep for and Thor’s hair has become truly the most beautiful hair in all the Nine Realms at this point so I cross my fingers it’s going to get long again.

  • procrastinatrice

I love Sausage Friday and enjoy some eye candy. But with most of the guys, I am just thinking, “Well, he is handsome, good for him–and whoever is bedding him.” This guy…well, he is just my type, on a physical level –I obviously don’t know him at all–and I just lose my nonchalance and go into fantasy mode. He reminds me of Josh Holloway a bit (but with a cleaner, less mischievous look) who also drove me a little crazy…

  • foodycatAlicia

    Very Pierce Brosnan.

    • EEKstl

YES! I was just scrolling down and stopped on the 2nd to last shot and thought: He looks like a blond Pierce Brosnan. And trust me, that is a good thing.

  • stephbellard

I wanna skin him and wear him.

  • Laura Renee

They could have tried for a LITTLE variety with his hair.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

“Peace out, Girl Scouts” – hee! I love you, you silly Uncles!

Thank you for wrapping up our week with extreme pretty.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

Mr. and Mrs. Hemsworth, once again I thank you for producing totally yummy progeny.

  • korilian

    Yep. Definitely the best Hemsworth.

  • Jaeda Laurez

    Yes Fawtha GAWD.

  • Tatiana Luján

I didn’t know he was funny. Nice.

  • marshmallowjane

When I saw “Snow White and the Huntsman,” I thought, WHO IS THIS? It’s so much fun to discover someone on your own before someone points him out, and before he becomes full of himself. Now, I see there’s a whole family of Hemsworth boys. Chris is the “Alec” of the family. BTW, I thought that was an awful movie with Kristine pouting like she did in all the Twilight movies and Charlize Theron looking mean throughout the movie. No acting per se, but there was a treat for me in discovering Chris Hemsworth. Seriously, how can someone be that gorgeous. He must be boring or shallow or something. We shall see.

He looks good in black, but he needs some de-greaser.

  • stubbornthoughts

    AJSKDLF;JASKLDFP – and that’s about it.

I’m usually more into darker haired gentlemen, like his brother Liam, but Chris makes me want to weep over his gorgeousness. Either way, that is one good-looking family. Even their nobody other brother is hot. It’s not fucking fair.

  • AllForUSophia

He’s bulging in all the right places!

  • Best Online Fashion Jewellery

hes body looks very Awesome. I’ll manage my body same..
