Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill on the Set of “The Man from U.N.C.L.E”

Posted on October 04, 2013

Did you hear the joke about Superman and the Lone Ranger getting on a bike together?

Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill on the set of “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” in Rome, Italy.

Did we say “joke?” We meant “spank bank material.” Sorry about the confusion.

We feel a little tingly right now, you guys. Fanning ourselves like Miss Celie in church.

To borrow a line from “Steel Magnolias”, they look like they were carved from cream cheese.

  • AndiMarie

Now THAT’S the way start to Sausage Friday. Thank you TLo. *fans self*

    • HomeOfficeGirl

      Sausage Friday is ON!!

  • NBG

OK, that is much better. Sausage Friday has begun! And Henry Cavill looks delicious in all black!

  • hillmad

So they’re Napoleon Solo (Henry) and Illya Kuryakin (Armie)? Good choices! Illya was always my favorite when I was a kid, but I might have to give Napoleon another chance!

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Mine, too! They look molto yummy here!

    • mjude

I think we all had a crush on Illya, my best friend was a member of U.N.C.L.E. LOL

    • Fanny_Trollope

      Ilya soooo sexy *swoon*

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I had such a crush on David McCallum-and thus Ilya Kuryakin when Man from U.N.C.L.E was on TV. I think I can plan on seeing this one. Armie looks adorable, and Henry looks so much happier than he did in Man of Steel.

    • Judy_S

I hate to say it but if you have a pair of dummies, excuse me, heroically handsome actors, and the only way to guess which is which is by hair color, they are not Solo and Kuryakin. I think I will just take my fandom back to NCIS where I can get a fix of the original Ilya…

      • MoHub

McCallum is still sexier at 80 than any current wannabes.

        • formerlyAnon

Attested to by the fact that my brain simply refuses to grok that he’s 80. No matter how often I hear/read it.

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

        So with you!

  • Where’s the pic of Armie with his arms wrapped around Henry? In my mind, you say? In all of our minds, I say.

    • muelonil

Speaking of Armie’s arms…where are his hands in that last picture?

      • Possibly pinching Henry’s ass?

        • demidaemon

One can only hope. I would hope for a full-on ass grab, though. That would certainly make my Friday.

  • MilaXX

Yum! Please don’t mess this up.

  • GorgeousThings

    “spank bank material.”

    Hahahahahahahahaha! Snort!!

    • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Yeah, I’ll be waiting for an opportunity to trot that out.

  • NMMagpie

OMG!!! Is Armie Hammer playing Illya Kuryakin??? BEST FRIDAY EVER!!!

  • rkdgal

More like The Men from O.G.L.E. 🙂 I’ll be in my bunk…

    • Imasewsure

I think we have to refer to it that way from now on… very clever BK!

  • acevedob

“Fanning ourselves like Miss Celie in church”…LMAO, LOVE IT! Shouldn’t they be sitting the other way around though?

  • par3182

That pic caused me to withdraw far too much from my spank account…

  • Fordzo

    God Bless Sausage Friday.

  • Jessica Freeman

    Oh hay. How YOU doing?

  • Armie Hammer is not MY Ilya Kuriakin!

    • formerlyAnon

  • norseofcourse

    Sally Draper would approve.

  • Qitkat

I suppose every generation deserves a shot at Illya and Napoleon to squeal over, but no thanks; my hippocampus is fiercely holding onto charming memories of David McCallum and Robert Vaughn.

    • formerlyAnon

My remembered infant lust for David McCallum is so strong I won’t watch the reruns lest I be disillusioned.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

When I first saw the movie “The Great Escape”, I was totally crushed when McCallum’s character was killed-and being in the throes of adolescence, I totally blamed Richard Attenborough-go figure

      • Qitkat

Isn’t that the truth. DMcC is a large part of my love for NCIS. I has a sad for Ziva, but if Ducky…I won’t jinx it! My mind wandered to “Time in a Bottle” with this thread.

  • formerlyAnon

NOBODY in this cast can hold a candle to David McCallum’s Illya Kuryakin for sexy. My first t.v. crush. I had the lunchbox, people.

Time to go watch some NCIS reruns.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I know where you’re coming from-my parents were both Depression children, and the first words out of Mom’s mouth whenever we went shopping for school clothes were: “We’re going to look at the sale and clearance racks”-first, last, and always.

      • formerlyAnon

One of my proudest parenting achievements is that my kids always check the sale & clearance racks. They may buy the full price item if it’s specifically what they want/need, but they consider it a minor defeat if they have to pay full price.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

I fondly remember going shopping with my sister and her daughters and hearing her kindly but firmly steer them toward the sale racks-Mom trained her well!

    • Judy_S

Oops, I just said the same thing before scrolling down. You say it very well.

  • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

Henry Cavill looks like a clone of Matt Bomer in the 3rd picture. It almost got me confused, but I’m still fanning myself.

    • foxysquirrel

He needs to play Neil’s brother in White Collar. Yum!

  • Oh, Sausage Friday, this makes my week! I did have the vapors for Ilya Kuriakin back in the day when he was portrayed by David McCallum…..glad they’ve kept his character as a blonde.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

I do hope when TLO’s book comes out, that they will have contests giving away copies to BKs who come up with slash based upon pictures similar to the ones here.

    • formerlyAnon

I am firmly convinced that there are some prolific fanfic – and almost certainly slash – writers among the BK. I often think that if we could map everybody’s online activity (like the NSA probably already does, right?) it’d be a testament to how multi-layered and interesting people are.

      • demidaemon

I am not a slash writer, but I do partake of it. Write on, hidden slash writer BKs!

  • bertkeeter

Either one can ride my Vespa any day of the week!

  • The hoyay in these pictures is off the charts. Meow.

  • decormaven

The waiter got the order right! Mmm, this is Sausage Friday, and then some. Thanks, TLo!

  • MsMajestyk

I want Armie’s jacket. Speaking of which, I’m guessing the guy standing in the sidelines with the identical jacket is his stunt double and he is delicious.

Someone needs to photoshop that third picture of Cavill with sparkles because that’s the sound I hear in that photo. Yes, sparkles make noise, I just can’t type it. Suggestions welcome.

  • random_poster

I remember hearing about that TV show, but I have no memories of it whatsoever. As such, these two guys will set the bar, and I am perfectly okay with that. YUM!

  • quiltrx

    Mmm…double delicious Sausage!!
(it took me a while to notice either had on clothes of any description, but I love Henry’s jacket.)

  • CT14

But Armie is so All-American. I see no Russian in him at all.

Except for hair color, it might work better the other way.

    But for Friday…it’s working!

    • alyce1213

I know he has Russian heritage, so from Wiki:

“Hammer’s paternal great-grandfather was oil tycoon and philanthropist Armand Hammer whose parents were Russian Jewish immigrants, and Armand Hammer’s father, Julius Hammer, who was from Odessa, founded the Communist Party in New York. Armie’s paternal great-grandmother was Russian-born actress and singer Olga Vadina (Von Root), the daughter of a czarist general.”

  • Froggae

    The Men From U.G.N.N.N.F.F.F.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

I’m roughly the same age as Sally Draper (give or take a year)…so yeah, Man From U.N.C.L.E. AND Illya, he was the man for me at the time.

  • JasmineAM

Henry Cavill is perfect. He always seems so nice to fans.

  • Not applicable

and you know what’s delish on your sausage link is just a bit of syrup… sticky, salty, sweet… yep, could definitely dip these two in some maple syrup! 😉

  • jen

That’s a lot of hunk for one scooter!

  • MoHub

This project is something that should never be happening. I mourn for my lost preadolescence and feel the need to watch an NCIS marathon to get an overdose of David McCallum

  • Kate4queen

I had a crush on the original Illya so I’m not sure about this at all.

    • formerlyAnon

I am TOTALLY sure. These guys are too beefcake to ever compete in my mind, even if the movie is fantastic and they are delectable.

  • Lattis

Cute guys. But – Hollywood – NOT ANOTHER REMAKE. Not one more.

    • alyce1213

I loathe remakes with a passion, but at least this is from another medium — from serial TV to feature film — so I can tolerate its existence. Still, I probably won’t see it.

  • mollymalone

Oh my goooooooodness… Cavill AND Hammer? And Cavill is looking hot again, not overly beefed up like he did when he was Supez. MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED.

  • *blinks*

    Thank you.

  • kimmeister

Armie is a good looking guy for sure, but anyone standing next to Henry just looks like a blob in comparison with his chiseledness.

  • demidaemon

I’m with you guys. Although that bike is HILARIOUS.

  • stephbellard

Wow I’ll need a box of Kleenex during this movie. It may not be a tear-jerker, but it’s definitely going to be a jerker.

    • Nikko Viquiera

  • sunflower

    They look like Ken dolls

  • CeeQ

Good heavens. Henry on a scooter. I swoon.

  • amber.

you know, just bless that third photo. he truly is an angel i just want to dominate me.

  • ShaoLinKitten

    The Ambiguously Gay Duo…

  • Pennymac

  • write_light

Can we talk about that JACKET he has? I want it NOW.

  • Kristin McNamara

I find it interesting that you specifically dubbed this “spank bank material” at the end there, as I vividly remember an exchange on a not-too-distant-past comment thread wherein one commenter expressed their disappointment about the age or attractiveness level of whoever the post’s subject was, as well as something about how he or she had come to “expect more” from your now weekly Sausage Fridays. And you two (slightly less than politely, IMHO) commented back by saying something along the lines of “Sausage Fridays are a day we dedicate to posting about males more than females. Nowhere did we outline that SFs are all about the young and beautiful. So if you came here to gather material for your spank bank, you’ve got the wrong idea.” Loyal reader here, and frequent commenter. Just noticed a misalignment between your posts and your oft-defensive commenting that I felt I would be remiss not to point out. So I tried to do it as abrasivelessly (if that’s a word) as possible. Honestly, love the blog. You guys are hysterical, and I love what you do. I just wince a little sometimes when I see some of the things you guys comment back to BKs (SOME comments, not all). Feel free to do with this post what you’d like. Delete or not, it doesn’t much matter. The intent is for you to read it, I guess, and internalize it, as I’ve spoken with several other BKs over the years, and I’m not the only one who’s noticed this. (And hopefully respectfully reply, if you choose to, as I tried to keep this respectful on my end as well.) It’s kind of just been hibernating in my fingertips for a while, waiting to come out, and I felt that the above line made a good segway for bringing it up.

  • Trickytrisha

Hmm, my tongue is getting tired from hanging out for so long. (no Molly Cyrus reference intended, thank you very much). These two would make a real spiffy sandwich.

  • LambeeBaby

I’d like to squeeze between them like a piece of dental floss.
