24 year olds should not be dressing like they are 40.

You can do park avenue princess without dressing like your grandmother

    • lexilexi

I like this – and she got it before Angelina Jolie.

      • sagecreek

I like the way you think!

    • Nicholas

My only explanation for this constant styling is that she wants to secretly tell the world that she’s a member of the Kennedy clan.

It looks like something Sydney would wear on Alias, before she proceeded to rip up her dress and kick the shit out of a Russian spy.

      • mlle

Her ring is a device that will copy some guy’s fingerprint so she can break into his safe!

        • Nicholas

          Girl needs her Rambaldi artifact.

          • mlle

And also an airport switcheroo, so she can ensure the real thing ends up with the CIA instead of SD6.

      • mshesterp

Damnation, you’re making miss Alias. Long live J. Garner.

    • littledamnhero

Watching Allison Williams is like eating a bowl of plain oatmeal.

      • marlie

Really good oatmeal, but still plain oatmeal.

    • slizzy

I like it. It’s subtle but it’s showing some skin in areas that I (as a 40-something) wouldn’t show, at least if I didn’t want to look desperate. Maybe not quite what I’d put on a 24 year old up-and-comer, but I still like it.

      • kirkyo

I kind of love the close up back shot.

    • hughman

Valedictorian at “Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies”.

    • decormaven

Nice ring, hon. But go find some fun, flirty outfits- and ditch this garb. You’ve got a lot of years to wear elegant formalwear, but not so many to wear kicky fashion (at least wear it well.)

    • Sarah

I love this dress and she is at an AIDS gala, so I think she may be erring on the side of being respectful. But she regularly dresses more like a socialite than an actress. She is lacking the drama and desperately needs some gays to give it to her. You can be classy and dramatic. She does classy and boring as fuck.

    • http://vispreeve.tumblr.com/ Den Milano

      Of course.

    • Michelle Wilson

      YAWN.

    • vitaminC

It’s like that scene in Death Becomes Her when Goldie Hawn smooshes Meryl Streep’s head into her torso with a shovel. WHERE IS THE NECK?!

    • MilaXX

It’s still black but I like this on her. I like the hair, the back detail on the dress, LOVE the eggplant nails and the cocktail ring.

    • neonseattle

This is a pretty cool dress actually. Wish it was on someone more interesting.

    • sagecreek

I know we’re officially tired of black, but I think she is stunning here. Even with the ponytail.

      • 3boysful

I think it probably IS too old a look for her, but I’m with you–this is classy and elegant.

    • Imasewsure

She didn’t get the memo about how much we hate black on the RC right now…. and it’s boring

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

Future Trophy Wife and I are nail twinsies!

    • mlle

I dislike the fancy gym hair and think she’d look less staid if her dress were sapphire.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Oh she’s fine. It’s okay to be boring. Everything here is done well. Given the venue, being sophisticated and subdued is not unheard of. Even for a twenty-something year old.

    • amanda lynn

      better than i thought!

    • crash1212

Total WERQ to my eye. I know…it’s black…funeral…blah, blah, blah – but that is one stunning dress and I think the style choices she made – hair, make-up, accessories – are making it sing. Girl…this is totally YOUR dress.

    • Trickytrisha

Good choice for a dressy charity event. For a 40 year old.

    • bertkeeter

Never like a back that depends on an ugly strap to keep it from falling off shoulders… That is really amateurish …. Would not expect that from DIOR… But again this is not DIOR…. Just someone designing under that iconic name!

    • boweryboy

It’s a striking dress, but she’s about 20 years too young to pull it off.

    • Jean Genetic

I think she makes that black dress sing. I know, I know, TLO has declared black boring, but this dress doesn’t make her look old, it makes her look sexy!

    • Jeanettesca

Maybe I’ve just been watching too many reruns of the Tudors, but that neckline makes her look like a disembodied floating head.

    • marlie

      More. Black.

Very nice dress, but ferchrissake, could she wear something with a slightly younger vibe, just once?

Her makeup looks great, and I like the ‘do, though I’m not sure if it’s quite right for this look.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

This really would have been the time to unleash a full back hentai tattoo and totally blow people’s minds. As it is, I am now utterly confirmed in believing she is the dullest 20-something woman in Christendom.

    • HM3

Everything she wears is always so. Darn. Plain.

Don’t get me wrong–there is always the go-to, “Simple-Yet-Deadly” outfit, but she overdoes it. You’re young! Let your hair down, girl!

    • formerlyAnon

I admit she’s an actress, working a public appearance, not a civilian. As a nod to that she could wear a little more dramatic jewelry and still keep the vibe she apparently likes. Otherwise, she looks good and there’s nothing wrong with having a restrained, elegant personal taste.

Somebody has to be at the other end of the spectrum from the ones who choose to look like expensive pop tarts, even when they’re aging out of “show ALL the skin” territory.

    • putacorkinit

Who wears a ring on their forefinger?

      • alyce1213

That’s not unusual at all. I do and I see it all the time, lots of times on this blog.

        • putacorkinit

          I must look harder then.

          • alyce1213

See the Dianna Agron post today, for example.

        • J. Preposterice

especially big rings — I tend to wear cocktail rings on my forefinger or middle finger, rather than ring finger, to make them stand out even more.

    • Kristobel

You know, this is not so zzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

    • http://weirdinedgewise.blogspot.com ONEWEIRDWORD

      Nice makeup

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i guess given the occasion, funeral jokes are out. but damn, i’m tired of all this black.

    • Danielle West

SNOOZE. You are rich and have a gorgeous body–wear something fun for god’s sake!

    • oohsparkley!

I think this is a young person’s dress and she looks stunning. I say it’s a young person’s dress because it looks quite difficult to wear a bra with.
