Zimmermann Spring 2014 Collection

2030 flapper. Thoroughly Modem Millie.
And a terrific demonstration on a) why 1920s dropped waists look horrific on 99% of the female population and b) why fabric choice is absolutely essential in terms of … 1920s dropped waists which look horrific on 99% of the female population. What is that silver stuff – vinyl auto upholstery?
Dislike most of this. There are a few in the middle, I could see lady celebs wearing on the RC (#9, 10 & 11) and then further down the beige number with the cut outs might work on say Zoe Saldana & I could see the burgundy floral pants suit working if the right person would be found. Overall though, most of this is a fail for me.
Yes, I could see Zoe in a few of these.
I kinda think it is post- PR Season 6 final collection on steroids and really really overworked. Although I do agree with hughman that this is 2030 flapper
‘Sokay, I guess. I can’t tear my eyes away from the ace bandages on their ankles. what the heck?
instantly i said, why are the models wearing ankle braces?
Exactly! So distracting it’s hard to notice the clothes.
That’s where my eyes kept going. Nothing like flesh colored elastic to sexify things.
Same. If they gave the stick figure models cankles, you know it’s a ridiculous shoe.
I really like the B&W sheer barber-pole dress, and kind of like the Vegas beatnik black top/rose-gold lame skirt combo. Most of the rest, though, are well-crafted, aggressively hideous garments. And the underwire bathing suits look excruciatingly painful.
Aggressively hideous says it all…
I got to that one bathing suit and thought, “When did incredibly saggy breasts become a runway ideal, and a look to mimic?” Who decided it was a good idea to make it look like someone’s DD implants suddenly deflated? I eventually realized it was wired to go up like that, but it took me a bit of pondering.
Yes, that black bathing suit top looks like the most awkward swimsuit top ever created.
Wow. This is all awful.
Do not want.
The proportions are so crazy on some of them, none could be called remotely flattering.
Hate. The proportions are way off, and not flattering at all. Are the silver numbers made out of auto dashboard keep-cool shades?
Beautifully made, but poorly designed crap.
There are a few that aren’t as bad as the rest but man a lot of these outfits are an eye-sore. And the proportions here make size 0 models looks a lot larger.
Beautiful patterns and materials, but terrible execution and wonky portions.
I’d say the execution is immaculate. It’s the design that’s killing it for most of this stuff… or should I say, the OVER-design!
Exactly! There were at least four design elements too many on the nicer pieces, and dozens of extras on the others.
Exaaactly. That coppery colored mess towards the bottom has so many pieces, it’s too distracting.
I can’t say much of this is anything I’d consider real world wearable, but it’s fun to look at. The entire collections reminds me of The Midnight Circus come to life.
You are definitely looking on the brighter side/half glass full view. I applaud you for being able to do so.
Nothing to add to the critique of the clothing. Not a fan and those shoes are hiddy.
Seriously dislike the makeup and styling, especially the hair. Almost all of the models look jaundiced.
Looks a bit amateurish. Some nice ideas poorly executed.
The ace bandage shoes are hurting my feelings. And the clothes are just uniformly awful.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this was 99% awful. Way too many titscrepancy tops. Way too many “WTF IS that?” moments. And what is up with the shoes? And the seriously ugly pants. The waists of those look like the frilly things you put on a crown roast.
This really seems all over the place. The first few looks I thought were light and airy and then you get into these overly complicated covered up heavy pieces and then cut outs and sheer. A few are nice but I mostly wasn’t impressed.
Titscrepancies and tit-torturing all over the place!
Logo has been replaying past seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race and the skirt on picture 13 gave me a flashback to the look that had Alexis Mateo lip syncing for her life.
I really like all the fabrics, and some of the pieces seem to move nicely–but I don’t think most of these shapes (though interesting) will be flattering for many women at all.
COVET the black/white spiral dress, though!
My favorite part was at the end. You know, where the pictures of ugly clothes ran out and the bitter kitten comments began.
Very lovely fabric and some cool shapes, but much of this comes off as awkward on professional models. Not sure how retail is going to tame that stiff, stand-out rufflery – combined with many dropped waists! – for mere mortals to wear.
No thank you. I’m good.
So black and white are still “in.” They’re probably my favorite parts of the whole collection.
I like two plain (plaid and check) skirts and lord love me I like two of the shorter cut out dresses but the rest is hiddy to me.
I like the last dress. I know — it’s like the tablecloth got stuck in her waistband, but it’s beautiful. The fabrics are very pretty, the designs awkward.
Okay, the black bikini with the half underwiring? My favourite thing. I hope that’s black velvet I’m looking at there, too.
What the heck with those shoes???
The head styling done here doesn’t do any favors for these beautiful clothes. Either too severe or too underdone for most of the pieces.
The few looks in this collection that I don’t find hiddy are still bad because of ace-bandage shoes.
Very focused on how fabric moves, but not capturing the point. I see the theory behind it, but it got lost in translation.
A few interesting pieces but mostly questionable taste. For example, the second piece with the sheer beige print top did not go with a flouncing metallic skirt. It needed a pencil skirt or cigarette pants. I wanted to tweak a bunch of the pieces, because there was potential but they added design elements that messed the piece up or just mismatched pieces.
Yikes. Proportion Puh-roblems gave way to Piecing Problems. I feel like I should find some of this pretty, I just don’t. The fabrics are nice, I guess. You know it’s not a great collection when you scroll faster and faster and have to force yourself not to skip the last looks.
What the hell is with the belts tied around the shoes? Does nothing for the dresses, which are too busy and strange to begin with,
Those shoes looked like ace bandages wound around the ankles. Absolutely terrible. Some of the clothing would have been lovely if not for those atrocious shoes
Clothes are cray, shoes are fug. That is all.
Well, and for some reason I keep thinking of Chloe Sevigny…
That could perhaps be the only good thing to come of this collection–more Chloe alters.
Well, this went from Crazyville to Hideous City pretty fast, with an occasional stop in Tolerable Town. In other words, yuck, ugh, make it stop.
