Das Stue, Berlin

After last week’s Old World style, we’re looking for something cool and Euro-modern in our lounge.  This’ll do nicely, although the seats don’t look like they’re conducive to tv-watching jaunts; especially ones where one is expected to leap out of one’s chair angrily on a regular basis. As one tends to do.

Guest judge Peter Som, Nina Garcia, Zac Posen and Heidi Klum

Heidi, WHAT are you wearing?

Whatevs.

How’s your week going, kittens?

I feel sick, my house is beyond a mess, I am broke, and my bf is out of town. On the bright side, I found the cough syrup!

    • Munchkn

I hope you feel better soon, Denise!

    • sleepycat

      1) Feel better!!
      2) My studio is so messy that it makes your house looks spick and span.
      3) You probably make more then I do (I’m a student with lots of loans), so you aren’t broker then me and you have more at least five times the space I have, so you are richer then you think.
      4) You have someone to miss.

Now let me give you a NyDrop, Lemon vodka with a rich cherry cough syrup, garnished with a sprig of spearmint to clear you out and a box of 1000 thread count, Louis Vution tissues. Oh and here is your free chicken soup!

      Get some rest!

      • catlover2x

        Aw, you’re sweet!

      • Denise Plank

Oh, you are very sweet! Well, I will be loads of fun, as I have no alcohol tolerance and and Nyquil makes me quire high. I’m told it is dreadfully entertaining.

    • Call me Bee

      Oh hon. Sorry.
In reality, we is all broke and living in messes because we are BKs doing VIT (Very Interesting/Important Things) and have no time to clean.

      • Denise Plank

Yes, I am going with that!

      • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i always tell my students that making art has to be your first priority. if you have a clean house, you won’t be an artist.

    • Emily Smith

Our cat may be trying to die. So that’s been fun.

      • Denise Plank

        Don’t die, kitty!

      • DebbieLovesShoes

I’m sorry, but this made me laugh out loud. I really needed that after this week I had! TY.

    • DebbieLovesShoes

Made me laugh…… And feel better about my life at the same time! TY Denise, wherever you are.

  • Sarah

Going better now that ya’ll are back. I was literally worried that something happened to the Uncles. (As if you couldn’t just take some downtime.) All is right with the world, now.

  • bxbourgie

Yes, the lounge! I just spent my afternoon putting children’s bicycles together for the 9/11 Tribute Fund to give to the children of military families, so I’m beat. I did my good deed for the day, I need a drink and some mindless tv.

    • Stubenville

You’ve come to the right place for mindless TV!

  • alyce1213

    “Heidi, WHAT are you wearing?”
    A kite?

    • Sarah

HA! It is so mullety, and she’s dressed way down, to boot. What is that about? Is it because Peter Som is a casual designer? I don’t get it.

    • Pennymac

I believe I saw an ad in this months Allure with Ms. Klum in her Walmart jeggings by Jordache (?) (Not sure). These look suspiciously like them…..

      • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

WALMART??? how the mighty have fallen…

    • MilaXX

It’s odd, because I hate mullet dresses. Mullet tops on the other hand don’t bother me if they are in the right proportion.

      • susu

I know, I’m kind of embarrassed to say I like her look here. Please don’t crucify me.

        • MilaXX

          I don’t mind it.

        • wontons

I would wear that. (“I would wear that”–can I be a judge now?)

      • quiltrx

It sort of looks like something that *should* be from the late 80s, but isn’t. I oddly don’t mind it, except that it’s so not Heidi.

    • Stubenville

      “Eddie, what are you wearing?”
      “It’s LaCroix.”
      “It’s fabulous.”

  • Jacquelyn

Heaven above Heidi. What is that??
Also between Zac’s hair, his body language (especially his feet) and his “precious” outfit, he’s look very 10 yr old at church

    • Call me Bee

I know, right? Since he already looks like a little boy, he might want to dress a little less Little Lord Fauntleroy.

      • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

and his hair looks like a little girl (with a new home perm).

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

This Kitten is already staring down a long, hard Friday with a glorious weekend waiting on the other side of it. Mummy would rather burn one than drink one, but the universe is conspiring against me. I don’t want to wine like After School Special up there so let’s just say this week could be better, but it could always be worse.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

move to california. there’s practically a dispensary on every corner. anyways, just think, things could be worse, you could BE after school special.

    • formerlyAnon

Hope you are feeling better, anyway. And yes, it could always be worse, though sometimes “worse” really doesn’t bear thinking of.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I am, thank you. We’ll leave “worse” for another day.

  • SinisterKid

Le Mullet Dress has evolved (‘scuse me, Kansas…been re-created…) into le Mullet Top-gasp!

  • Funkykatt

I freeze lemon Yoplait and then microwave it for about thirty seconds and it’s almost as good as ice cream. Not the expensive ice cream but good enough. I found the commercial really the most interesting thing but this video

  • http://www.GiftedCollector.com/ The Gifted Collector

I used to look forward to Project Runway with great anticipation. Now, the only way I know it’s Thursday is that it’s trash day and it’s time for the TLounge.

  • AlexisPayne

Today I realized our CEO (who’s office is next to mine) is a terrible combo of Michael Scott and Bill Lumbergh.
Get me a Manhattan and keep them coming.

    • SinisterKid

If someone could bring her a Manhattan…that’d be grrrreeeat….

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Bless your heart. What a special Hell that must be for you.

    • sleepycat

*give you an online version of my famous bear hugs and hands you a Manhattan*

    • Call me Bee

So sorry. I had one of those back in the 70s. Next drink is on me.

  • MilaXX

I’m gonna try hard to climb out of the Breaking Bad K-hole I’ve climbed in and snark on this tonight.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

As SoA draws to a close, these last two seasons will have the fans wondering why we ever rooted for these bad guys. I could never bring myself to start Breaking Bad, because I just couldn’t bring myself to go that dark again. I know I am missing out on brilliance.

      • MilaXX

I had to skip a few eps. The junkies with the kid (Peekaboo) & the one where Jane OD’s(ADQ). I’ll probably also skip the ep where Jessie turns his house into a flop house because he can’t stand being alone (Open House).
I never got into SoA for some reason. The last show I was this invested in was The Wire. I’m pretty sure Sunday’s finale will kill me.

  • Pennymac

The best thing about this week is that tomorrow is Friday and the weather in the mountains is grand this time of year! 8 more hours of work and then off to the A.T. to relax and unwind! Hoping for no bat-shittery tonite!

  • majipoor

Sorry if this has been asked before but are T&L reviewing the fashion week collections this season?

    • OrigamiRose

If memory serves, they add their comments to the fashion week posts after the finale airs and the winner is declared. (BKs, feel free to correct me if I’m off!)

      • harlowish

Right, but they usually do the decoys the week after they’re eliminated. I always love reading their thoughts on the decoy collections, so I hope they haven’t stopped!

        • OrigamiRose

Ohhh thank you – I’m going to go back and read the eliminated ones now! :)

    • Eric Stott

I’d hope so, but during the last couple of seasons they’ve pared down their coverage – dropping the ‘ology posts and mostly ditching Judging the Judges. I know how they feel – there’s so much less Joy in the show now.

  • Eric Stott

Greetings! I have been completely purged of any Ken Sympathy

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Right. I thought of breaking out my Ken avatar, because damn it, I crack myself up, but then we are all so happy to have him gone, it may ruin our lounging experience.

      • Eric Stott

The interview with his model cinched it. Not only did he lie, the producers were in on the manipulation.

        • OrigamiRose

          Wait, what interview?

Edit – Never mind, I saw her website. Brain spaz ;)

          • Eric Stott

I found it linked to someone’s comment. What’s his model’s name?

          • OrigamiRose

Suzi – her site was… shoot, I can’t remember the name. I think it had “crafty” in the middle. Argh :/

          • Swiftlytiltingplanet

            justcraftyenough

          • OrigamiRose

THANK YOU!!! *pours virtual cocktail in gratitude*

          • Swiftlytiltingplanet

            I’m here for you, baby,

          • Eric Stott

I can’t find it (damm) but it seems that THE FABRIC WAS HIS CHOICE FROM THE BEGINNING!!!

          • Stubenville

I am simply shocked that Ken would throw his model under the double decker bus.

            /sarcasm

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I am SHOCKED that the producers were also privy to such shenanigans!

            /yeah, sarcasm.

          • Eric Stott

Her remarks about that aren’t on her site, gawdammit…but I did read them.

            OK- DEEP CLEANSING BREATH

          • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i wouldn’t be surprised if he actually did throw her under a bus. that guy is crazy scary.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

          Sacrebleu!! What is zis?

        • MilaXX

really? I missed this. what’s his model’s name?

      • Sarah

You cracked me up, too. Thanks! YBGS is my fave new acronym.

      • OrigamiRose

I’m just sad that no one has yet done a gif of him flipping out in The Phantom of the Mommie Dearest mask.

        • Stubenville

It’s always about the wire hangers, isn’t it?

          • OrigamiRose

            Truly ;)

        • MilaXX

I think I saw one on tumblr

          • OrigamiRose

Thank you! I will go in search of it. For some reason, keywords “Ken Laurence gif” and time period of the last week did land me a gif of Tom Brady’s head superimposed on Miley Cyrus’ body in “Wrecking Ball.” Still trying to figure that one out, ha ha.

          • RebeccaKW

Have you seen the gif of Nic Cage’s head on her Miley’s body in Wrecking Ball? The stuff of nightmares.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Thank god. I was worried for you.

      • Eric Stott

        plaid

        • Swiftlytiltingplanet

          Yes. I know.

          • Eric Stott

            hugs

  • Stubenville

Hi everybody! Does anyone know why Heidi is apparently wearing a maternity top?

    • Eric Stott

      besides questionable taste?

      • Stubenville

        That’s already a given.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

hi, kids! it is hailing and thundering and possibly snowing like a motherfucker here chez sleah in the sierras. in other news, guess what i get to do tomorrow? have one of those horrible diagnostic procedures where you go on a two day liquid diet and then drink that horrible stuff and poop your life out. have to do that in an hour, oh joy. also, i have a quilt due on deadline so i have to spend my time at the sewing machine. it’s a fun piece, though, it’s the colors of the italian flag and all made of food fabrics. it’s titled abondanza! oops, the thunder is shaking the house, and my little puppy Alice is scared.

    • Stubenville

Yikes! That makes my frantic day pale in comparison.

BTW, had a colonoscopy a couple of months ago and the stuff they gave me for the clean out, Movi Prep, was absolutely vile. I hope your stuff is better tasting.

      • Eric Stott

I didn’t like it, but it was better than the bane of my childhood- Glucose Tolerance Tests. Drink a quart of something so thick and sweet you want to vomit- worse than straight honey.

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

This is why I don’t go to the doctor.

        • Munchkn

I read somewhere years ago that doctors ought to have to go through the procedures they prescribe sometime during their residencies to see just what patients go through.

      • SRQkitten

Movie prep was the worst. Ever.

      • MoHub

I projectile-vomited a lot of my prep. I think they need to alter the dosage based on the size of the patient. My husband is almost three times my size, yet his prep was the same quantity as mine.

        • Stubenville

The same thing happened to me on the last glass. But given what was already going on down below, I didn’t think it would matter. Oh well, I don’t have to repeat that experience again until 2023.

          • MoHub

Yep. What I managed to hold down did the trick, so lack of a complete dose didn’t seem to hurt anything.

    • Lori

Good luck with both the weather and the test. I hope you get good news on both fronts.

    • MilaXX

oh yuck! Hope all things work out okay.

    • NDC_IPCentral

What a delightful project, SLeah, I bet that quilt will turn out magnificently. The storm will pass, I hope soon.

And alot else will pass, too. I had a colonoscopy as a diagnostic procedure last year in February two weeks before I got my ovarian cancer Dx, and boy, the prep was not fun. But having to drink the CT scan imaging goop ten days later triggered a reaction that made the colonoscopy prep child’s play by comparison.

Yes, yes, I know you’re thanking me for sharing. Just stay close to the loo, girlfriend! Best wishes for a good diagnosis.

      • SRQkitten

Yes, NDC, perspective helps. Just posted a minute ago about the movie prep stuff as worst ever – but yr experience is reminder of that others are getting thru harder stuff so I need to be grateful for what isn’t wrong and how much is right.

        • NDC_IPCentral

Well, I am seeming to enjoy a benign haze of forgetfulness about some of the worst of last year, so that I’m reveling in being my doctors’ success story. I have another law school friend, alas, who was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer three months ago, so I’m sort of coaching, encouraging her from afar (she’s in the Cleveland area), and man, I had an easier time than she is currently experiencing.

          It’s all relative.

          • formerlyAnon

Man, however good it may be to be able to help, coaching someone through an ordeal that you navigated so recently must be . . . emotional. Ah well, it IS all relative.

          • NDC_IPCentral

I really feel that I need to beat the drum about ovarian cancer – September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month (think teal). Offering advice, guidance, encouragement to a friend who’s going through what I did (and the same treatment plan – chemo/surgery/chemo) is a privilege, but I’m worried for her. I was doing better than she was at the same point, but she had a higher CA-125 number at initial Dx than I did, so she has a steeper route to climb.

          • SRQkitten

Being your doc’s success story with ovarian cancer – definitely priceless! Congrats!

    • Call me Bee

Oh my. Had one last year. Not pretty. But–here’s hoping for a good outcome. I know you can’t have a drink, but have a raincheck and I’ll catch ya next week.
Really–anyone who has one of those is my hero–my mom died of colon CA, so I put up with it when I need to.

    • UsedtobeEP

Well, you win the fun night award. Goodness.

  • alula_auburn

yea, kittens! Tomorrow I fly to the Netherlands for the glamorous life of being interim nanny for my niece for two weeks. My cats are already sulking. They know.

    • Denise Plank

      They always know.

    • GorgeousThings

My dog knows the minute I pull out a suitcase.

      • alyce1213

My dog sits in the suitcase.

        • Swiftlytiltingplanet

My cats take turns. While looking at me accusingly.

      • Munchkn

My in-laws old dog used to get so depressed when he saw the suitcases out. Jason knew that he was about to go to “camp”.

    • UsedtobeEP

Yay! Land of windmills, tulips, and legal drugs. Except you are a nanny, so none of that for you.

      • UsedtobeEP

The drugs part. Tulips are still fine.

        • Swiftlytiltingplanet

          Nannys can’t windmill?

          • UsedtobeEP

            Oops. Sure they can.

    • Call me Bee

      Excellent. Have a great time!

  • GillianHolroyd

ooh, in the preview, Heidi said “one or more of you will be out”. There are three episodes left. Someone do the math for me please?

    • Stubenville

Double elimination tonight or next week for sure. Maybe both.

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

        Both. Please.

  • Stubenville

So probably double elimination tonight, kids. I’m thinking Justin and someone else. Maybe Alexandria of the “pleasure me pants” fame or Drag Brows. Any predictions?

    • Eric Stott

The dreaded “And you get to go too!!!” episode?

      • Stubenville

Yes. And their little dog, too.

        • Eric Stott

I assumed Zac would be there anyhow

        • Munchkn

Nice reference to The Wizard of Oz! I went with my daughter and granddaughter to see it this afternoon. Granddaughter is only 4 and parts of it were pretty scary for her. The 3D adds just enough to make the 3D viewing worthwhile. Toto is my favorite character, btw.

          • Ginny Ellsworth

I had a friend who owned a “Surrender Dorothy!” t-shirt. I always loved that shirt. And people’s faces while they were reading it.

  • NDC_IPCentral

Couldn’t see your site updates at work – but at home – yay! So Productivity was Improved at IP Central because the TLO temptation has been, for the time being, removed.

Am happily driving to Our Nation’s Capital tomorrow to have lunch with a law school chum (and old boyfriend) and his wife and daughter. Good reun’ing after not having seen them for many, many years. Then to spend the weekend in Bethesda with an undergraduate school very close friend (who watches Project Runway, too) of 45 years. She’s walked the entire Appalachian Trail, the entire Pacific Coast Trail and has section-hiked through NM and much of Colorado on the Continental Divide Trail – a journey still to conclude. Not much high style on those paths except HEIGHT with mountains and passes and dicey footing. She’s intrepid, and I’m looking forward to her trail taies and pix.

As to PR – whatevs, indeed. Haven’t read my sister ‘n’ brudder BK comments yet since I wanted to get on the Board, so to speak. Will remedy that info dearth right now.

    • Call me Bee

Wow–that’s a lot of walking! Tell her, “Well done!” Have fun with your reunions!

      • NDC_IPCentral

No kidding; she’s done, I think, 670 miles this year alone. She’s the embodiment of ‘intrepid.’ And she’s very smart, too. Enjoyable company – we will have one heck of a yak-fest.

    • formerlyAnon

Sounds like an awesome long weekend. Enjoy!

  • alula_auburn

oh, hey, Heidi on Parks and Recreation!

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Oh! I remember what I wanted to ask y’all. . .Has anyone else noticed the frequent appearance of the “racerback inspired” bodices, a la Sustainicorn? They are really a thing. Were there always tops and dresses with that style and and we just didn’t notice before Timothy?

    • Eric Stott

They used them a lot (too much) in the last few seasons – along with butt zippers.

      • Call me Bee

Ugh visible zippers. One good thing though–they are showing up on the racks at TJ Maxx, which means they will be gone in moments.

  • Lena Abu-Ali

Well, after years of lurking, I decided to officially join my fellow BKs in the TLounge. Hello everybody!
I wish I had a TV in my dorm room, but I’ll be looking forward to catching up online tomorrow before class.

    • Eric Stott

      mud will be flung tonight!

    • NDC_IPCentral

*in my stern Auntie voice* You be sure to get your homework done now, Lena!

But we’re delighted to have you with us to hurl bon mots off with aplomb.

      • Lena Abu-Ali

doing it at the moment! i’ll try my best to be witty.

        • NDC_IPCentral

Don’t fash yoursel’, hon – we’re a friendly bunch that just have our virtual pitchforks and torches at the ready to wave at the shenanigans that the producers foist on us. We get old foofy about the Good Old Days of Project Runway, but we don’t turn it off now, either!

    • Stubenville

Hey Lena! Welcome to the Bitter Kitten clubhouse!

      • Lena Abu-Ali

thank you for the kind welcome! i’m proud to be a member!

    • Munchkn

      Welcome to the Lounge, Lena!

    • Call me Bee

Welcome! OK–do your homework—then come back and sit with your crazy aunties….

    • UsedtobeEP

      Hello and welcome!

    • formerlyAnon

Welcome! TLounge is a lovely place, sadly, the actual show has become less important.

  • Stubenville

Has anyone seen the Chris March wigs at Target? He did a series of crazy oversize foam wigs for Halloween.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I just saw a story today about a sweet, little angel named Maddie who recently lost her battle with cancer. There is a pic of her and daddy in the store, wearing the wigs.

    • formerlyAnon

Just seen pictures so far. I am thinking one or two might be an investment purchase.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

I must go immediately! Or maybe tomorrow after work.

    • Ginny Ellsworth

Thank You! I’ll be there at lunchtime hunting one or two down. Warning:These items might not be used just for Halloween!!!

  • GorgeousThings

I’ve had a great week so far! I got to spend time amongst REAL fashion in Paris. Back yesterday, totally jet lagged today, so we’ll see if I make it through PR. I’m going to put my jammies, slippers and bathrobe on. Wake me up if I nod off and anything interesting happens, please?

    • Call me Bee

      You got it.

    • Stubenville

Super jealous here. Did you get to eat at any famous restaurants or was it all work, work, work?

      • GorgeousThings

No place famous, just amazing food everywhere! We had oysters at the Brasserie in the Hotel Lutetia, which you may recall from the Haute Couture episode in Season 3 (Laura Bennett, Uli Hertzner, Nutty Vincent and the guy who ended up winning the season)

        • Meredith_P

Ah, my favorite season. Those were the days. Now I watch so that I can read TLo.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      Welcome home!

  • Call me Bee

My week has been pretty good. Made plans to take the DDs (darling daughters) and their SOs to Tallinn next summer for the big Folk Fest, which happens every four years. Also finished up one quilt and am almost done with another, and the concrete guys started the foundation for our new garage. And–my back is not sore. A time for celebration!
I have a Strawberry Blonde, please and thank you.

  • BuffaloBarbara

My God, I don’t even have anything to say about the upcoming festivities. I literally cannot think of one thing.

No fancy drinks tonight. I’m having a beer. It will go with that always-cheap looking self-designed prints they do.

    • Munchkn

I’m having a beer, too. I just discovered I’ve got a ton (well, 11) of Weight Watchers points to use and beer is a good way to do it.

    • NDC_IPCentral

      Beer here, as well. Slainte!

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      Oddly, I’m having Grand Marnier.

  • Inspector_Gidget

Won’t be able to watch in real time, but have fun! I’m sure the recap will be better anyway.

  • oyeyemi808

Evening everyone! Barkeep I’ll have a Gibson martini please.

  • BeccaGo

My lease is up Oct. 1 and I haven’t closed on my new place yet so I’m temporarily moving back home this weekend and I’ve just barely begun cleaning and packing but eff that nonsense – it’s DRAMA™ TIME!

    • Stubenville

      Enjoy the little break.

    • alyce1213

      Moving really sucks.

      • BeccaGo

Preach. This is my first time buying a place, too, and the process is just freakin’ ENDLESS. I want to decorate, damn it! Let’s get a move on!

  • Eric Stott

Each season in the print challenge someone has a design that reflects their life – my bet is on Justin.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

If only Gay Daddy were still here. It would be even more meaningful than his love letter, I’m sure.

      • PastryGoddess

Sustainicorn could write another letter to his model

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

no, SHE wrote HIM. Because he’s so SPECIAL.

  • Stubenville

    Okay, new epi starting.

  • Stubenville

    Tim’s jacket is heinous.

    • Call me Bee

The Hubs called him the crazy uncle from Li’l Abner.

    • NDC_IPCentral

I think a lot of Tim’s ensembles this season have been mish-mashes.

  • Cheryl

Has Kate been second place each week?

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      in her mind

  • NDC_IPCentral

“Between Helen and ME; between Braden and ME” – Kate – basic grammar, girl. The object of a preposition is not in the nominative case.

    • alyce1213

      Don’t get me started.

    • blondie65

Again, if I could like this 1000 times more, I would.

    • rainwood1

Whenever I hear someone say that, I make the correction silently to myself. EVERY DAMN TIME.

  • OrigamiRose

Good thing “HP” wasn’t tonight’s drinking game cue.

  • UsedtobeEP

Whoa! Just made it. Have been surrounded by screaming children by approximately 12 hours today. Don’t you all wish you were me??

    • Stubenville

      No.

    • PastryGoddess

did you want the nice answer or the real answer?

      • UsedtobeEP

Um, will the real one burn up my screen?

        • PastryGoddess

          yeeeeeees

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      we need drinks here!!!!

      • UsedtobeEP

        Big ones…

    • Cheryl

Only 7 hours, but I would have been happy to go for another 5! I love my Head Start kids.

      • UsedtobeEP

Aww, you are awesome. My own kids at the end were what made the day long. Bless their hearts. I must not have beat them enough today. ; )

  • Eric Stott

    HP threw us a curve

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      What fuckery is this?

      • Eric Stott

So- if a woman helps crippled children, does the print reflect that?

        • Swiftlytiltingplanet

          Wheelchairs and crutches?

          • Stubenville

            Broken lines.

          • UsedtobeEP

I’m so confused already, and it’s sooooo early. I must really need drinks. More than I thought.

          • Ginny Ellsworth

My son is disabled, not broken.

    • alula_auburn

This isn’t forced or awkward at all.

      • Stubenville

Compared to being inspired by how yogurt tastes?

  • alyce1213

A twist — takes it away from personal prints.

    • Eric Stott

I’ll bet that everyone was planning their patterns already – this would put them off their plans

  • Call me Bee

Oooh Miss USA wear a crown from Diamond Nexus–a tiny Milwaukee company that makes lab-created diamonds and for whom my daughter works!

    • UsedtobeEP

What does she do? I would love to say I make diamonds for a living. It’s Godlike.

      • Call me Bee

She manages the retail store. It was in a mall, but they are moving a very cool area near downtown in a loft-like space.

        • UsedtobeEP

I bet she has lots of funny stories to tell. I have a good friend who works in a very posh jewelry store and she tells funny stories about people who spend loads of cash on sparkly things.

  • OrigamiRose

How I would love if someone just made a textile that was nothing other than the HP and Intel logos.

  • alyce1213

    Is that Miss USA’s DAYWEAR?

  • Eric Stott

Empowering…..one of those buzzwords I hate.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Tonight is clearly let’s all want to punch Kate in the face night.

    • Cheryl

      WTPKITFN!

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

With Ken gone, now I kind of want Kate to shut up…

    I’m never happy.

    • Angela_the_Librarian

      You can still use SUK!

      • PastryGoddess

        Or it’s alternative option SFUK

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

          YBGS!!!!!!!!!!!

          • Swiftlytiltingplanet

I envision that accompanied by waving hands.

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

            neck/head rolls

    • Stubenville

      I want Kate AUF!

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

        +1,000

  • alyce1213

Uh oh. Are we gonna get a brick dress?

    • Stubenville

      Accessorized with clunky Belk accessories?

    • VictoriaDiNardo

Gaultier was already there a few decades ago…

  • Eric Stott

Everything will look like a UNICEF christmas card from the 1960′s

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      I love you so much.

      Plaid.

      • Eric Stott

plaid drawn by a third world child with sad beautiful eyes

        • Swiftlytiltingplanet

with a stick burned in the fire cooking watery soup…

          • Eric Stott

“the plaid catholic school dress you sent me is the only color in my village”

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

            you. are. killing. me.

  • sunsetwalker

    woohoo I m back bitches!!
Are they finally creating real fashion now

    • PastryGoddess

      Yeah…NO

      • sunsetwalker

disappointing I had so much hope for this season

        • PastryGoddess

You’ll need to get over that…have something to drink. It’ll help ease the sting

  • alula_auburn

Is it wrong I kinda want a Cakewrecks inspired challenged?

    • Stubenville

      +1,000. Love that site!

    • Eric Stott

I think those two guys just want to close the shop and lick icing off each other

  • Angela_the_Librarian

Wow, this is so weird. Some are working with charities, others with just interesting people. How do you compare the two?

    • Stubenville

Perfect for the judges – they can pick on any reason to reward or disparage a dresstesstant.

  • Bexxx

THAT’S NOT MY STYLE TO DO CAKE-LIKE THINGS.

  • sunsetwalker

umm cake hmm light fluffy pastel colors how is that hard to be inspired by?!!

  • sunsetwalker

Helen is still in the competition !!!?

    • PastryGoddess

      She’s kind of a front runner. I can’t believe I typed that

    • OrigamiRose

She’s won four challenges, I think (and somewhere I read she tried to claim credit for another, with Dom’s “Belk” dress win too).

    • sunsetwalker

well guess i did not miss much smdh

  • ChristinaRi

Mr. Eyebrows was barely listening when the cake maker was talking. He was just repeating “can’t can’t can’t” in his head I mean it could be confection or oozing molten chocolate — so much. A bunch easier than what some of the others got.

    • UsedtobeEP

Dress = confection seems pretty fun to me. Literal, maybe, but fun.

  • Stubenville

Dear Lord – another Allstars on October 24th? I don;t think I can stand any more of this dreck.

    • sunsetwalker

I am so ready for the dramatics from Aylssa Milano

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

“We get to be inspired…” She’s such an ass kisser.

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

I have unreasonable hatred for adults who refer to ‘puters. Even you, Dom!

    • formerlyAnon

      Oh no. Quite reasonable

  • ChristinaRi

TIMMY! Me no like this outfit. Halloween!

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

It hurt my eyes a little bit.

  • alula_auburn

I keep hearing Kate say “binary binary binary binary” but the Doctor never comes to wipe her brain. :(

  • Stubenville

Okay, who called the personal message from Justin. Eric, was it you?

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      I think it was.

    • Eric Stott

It seemed fortold that he’d somehow work deafness into it

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Does anyone believe that Kate has any clue about binary code?!

    • alula_auburn

It’s what apps are made of!

    • Stubenville

      Bwa ha ha hah.
      No.

  • ChristinaRi

    Alexandra is making stripes??

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

From the woman who brought you drop crotch work out gear. She’s a forward thinking genius!

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

        Stripes is the new plaid.

        • VictoriaDiNardo

          Clavicle is the new cleavage.

  • MilaXX

I hate the textile challenges. Most of the designers almost always get the scale wrong. This added twist pretty much ensures wacky clothing.

    • VictoriaDiNardo

I can never understand how they don’t seem to take the repeat of the print into consideration.

      • Eric Stott

The test sheets can be deceptive

      • MilaXX

me neither, but they never do

  • Angela_the_Librarian

Unless he really messes up I think Justin has this one in the bag. His has has the best story behind it.

    • OrigamiRose

And Drag Brows seems to be heading for the loser edit.

    • Eric Stott

yeah- but he’d better make a decent dress

  • sunsetwalker

so we are getting a brick dress, way to be inspired

    • alula_auburn

I’d be kind of insulted if I was supposed to be someone’s muse and the did a design based on my brick walls, I think.

  • ChristinaRi

    Love Helen’s boob gestures.

  • PastryGoddess

Why doesn’t any one do a large format print. enough with those little tiles

  • Cheryl

Yes, Kate, this young lady will be empowered by your pretty little dress.

    • ChristinaRi

Empowered. One of my least favorite words

      • Cheryl

        TEXTILE. Textile. Textile. Textile.

        My very least favorite word.

        • Stubenville

Modern. Beaten to death in fashion journalism.

          • Swiftlytiltingplanet

            Editorial.

          • Eric Stott

            Forward

        • RidgewayGirl

          Moist. Moist, moist, moist.

  • PastryGoddess

Does anyone else live in Kate’s world. Or is she the only one living there

    • Cheryl

      The producers.

  • Abigail

When Tim is encouraging people to break the budget all I can think of is there hasn’t been enough money drama. Not that PR would manipulate anything like that…

    • PastryGoddess

      NO NEVER!

  • Stubenville

    Did Bradon get Dom’s fabric?

  • Eric Stott

Helen’s looks like a project by a very careful child

  • ChristinaRi

Why does Helen annoy me? I feel like it’s not fair how much I don’t like her.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      It’s totally fair.

      • Eric Stott

Alexander just said it for you- it’s so constant.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      It’s okay. Have a drink.

      • PastryGoddess

        or 5. We’re givers here

      • ChristinaRi

Clearly, that’s what is missing. Why didn’t I think of it.

        • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Sometimes it’s easy to miss the obvious.

  • Eric Stott

Braden’s looks like something you could buy at the store

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      Which store?

      • OrigamiRose

        In six months, Belk.

        • Eric Stott

It looks like an attractive paper tablecloth that you wad up and toss after one use

    • Cheryl

      The Ugly Store.

  • blondie65

Tim doesn’t have adequate words….ok, we are in crazy plaid land.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      We’ve been here for WEEKS!

      • Eric Stott

        and reveling in the sensation

  • sunsetwalker

Tim join the club I have been perplexed all season

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

I like Bradon bouncing around holding his fabric up to himself. It’s cute.

    • Eric Stott

He’s more interesting than anything he’s designed yet.

  • Stubenville

Don ‘t know what to do? THEN GO HOME.

  • BuffaloBarbara

Braden — shorts. Do shorts. With the jacket, and a slouchy blue hat. Yeah. Just like that. It would be cute. :D

I love Dom’s. No one else’s is really speaking to me.

Raise your hand if you think Justin decided on his print before he was cast, and spent most of his time figuring out how to apply the idea he was already planning to use to the situation at hand?

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      Pick me!

    • Cheryl

      Yes, it’s his dessert.

    • PastryGoddess

I can’t hold onto my drink if I raise both hands

    • Eric Stott

      Who was his inspiration again?

      • BuffaloBarbara

Miss America and her charity that helps with education.

        • Swiftlytiltingplanet

How do you remember these things? I am in awe.

        • Eric Stott

that is such a vague inspiration that it could lead to anything

        • Call me Bee

Actually Miss USA. Donald Trump’s Miss USA.

          • BuffaloBarbara

I always forget that they’re different things.

          • alyce1213

            Hence the plunging neckline.

        • MoHub

Actually, she’s Miss U.S.A., which is a preliminary to the Miss Universe pageant and totally different from Miss America. Most people—including Justin—don’t get that they’re unrelated.

      • PastryGoddess

Tits Merriweather..who happens to be from my state of Maryland.

        • Eric Stott

          You are a true Goddess

    • ChristinaRi

Love the idea of shorts with that fabric — excuse me — textile.

  • alyce1213

How does Helen sew with those very long nails?

    • ChristinaRi

      She’s very special.

  • Peeve

She’s got tats all over her damn body, but she doesn’t do prints???? Grow up or go home.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

You don’t understaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand! Tats are edgy. Prints are not.

      • Eric Stott

I think her edginess is purely superficial- as if she got the tats hoping they’d give her a personality.

        • BeccaGo

          Spot on.

        • Peeve

Totally agree. (I know SO many people who’ve done that.)

        • Swiftlytiltingplanet

I wonder if I should get a tat of plaid?

          • Peeve

            Love!

        • Pril Wood

Tats like hers are like armor for the bland and whiny.

    • alyce1213

Her print looks like it could be tats on her body.

    • ChristinaRi

      omg. I snorted!

      • Peeve

        Gotta love the snort!

    • PastryGoddess

      That’s totally different….somehow

    • Targettaste

Prints might clash with her tats. If Helen can’t wear prints, no one wears prints.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

” I keep taking the test over and over again, but I’m all, “This is hard!”

    • mom2ajs5

I thought the same thing! Her body is a print.

    • Guest

      it’s different

  • blondie65

If tonight’s drinking game was every time someone said “like”, we took a drink, after Helen’s critique, I’d have died from “like” alcohol poisoning.

  • erica

I don’t understand why Helen chose a white background. She is so dark, and a dark background is more forgiving.

  • PastryGoddess

Off topic but Million Dollar Shoppers promo music is the same music Jasmine and Aaron danced to on SYTCD this year.

  • Stubenville

So who gets Ya this week? They’re probably the winner.

  • sunsetwalker

    yikes!

  • PastryGoddess

Tim does not think that is a GOOD THING. but he’s trying to be nice

  • nosniveling

don’t think it’s fair for Tim to give Helen that much help.

    • Eric Stott

She seems like one of those girls who are nice, but end up sucking the will to live out of you.

      • PastryGoddess

        emotional vampire

        • Eric Stott

She’s the girl in the office who everyone goes out to lunch with about every two months – because it takes that long to recover.

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Funny. That’s how I see Kate.

        • Eric Stott

Kate’s more calculating about it. I think Helen is a little clueless as to how she comes off.

          • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Fair point. But I never saw Helen as nice, just a drama suck. Whereas Kate seemed like she might be okay, if snarky (and I love me some snarky) in her original season. I can’t actually remember how she started this season for it seems as if this season has been going on since time began. (Or is that just me.)

          • Eric Stott

Kate started this season pretty well, but I think she’s hung on only because there were worse to be weeded out before her.

  • Angela_the_Librarian

Do they give Helen a super straight back chair, or does she just have perfect posture? Her confessional interviews look so strange!

  • OrigamiRose

    Chocolate tie-dye?

    • Stubenville

      Yum!

  • PastryGoddess

hey Drag Brows. Someone shit all over your outfit

    • OrigamiRose

Okay, I seriously just spewed ice cream on my laptop, nicely done! :)

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        hells yeah ice cream

  • alula_auburn

The white is futuristic? I haz a perplexity.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      As do we all.

    • Stubenville

      Very Space 1999.

      • Call me Bee

        Oh God yes!

  • sunsetwalker

    nobody understands what your doing

  • PastryGoddess

    Diety help us. SFUH

  • PastryGoddess

but you seem to like PLAID Bradon McDonald…I’m just sayin

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      preach

  • NDC_IPCentral

Helen wants Tim to do her work for her.

Were the dresstestants in The Good Old Days of Project Runway this indecisive, needy and weepy? Sheesh.

Oh, and HELEN, if you are so anti-print, what’s with all your tattoos??

    • Frank_821

      Recall Sweet Pea

    • OrigamiRose

Only when you drew Groucho mustaches on pictures of their children :)

  • Stubenville

    Justin is so gleeful.

  • PastryGoddess

Dom wanted to smack the shit out of her

  • sunsetwalker

You cannot enter a fashion competition by only being able to do one thing

    • OrigamiRose

      Counterpoint: Anya.

      • sunsetwalker

at least she did not cry about it

      • BPlease

She’d never sewn silks bafoah! She’d never created pants bafoah! Blink blink, smize, smize.

At minimum, every one of the remaining designers here has more to say and has worked more at their craft than Anya.

    • PastryGoddess

      crying?

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Oh Alexandria. You nailed it with Helen’s crying. It almost made me like you a little bit. Stop that.

  • VictoriaDiNardo

I suddenly think Green Mountain coffee is a sponsor – or would that be HP Green Mountain Coffee?

    • OrigamiRose

Ohhhhh new tie-in idea: The HP “coffee inspired” Yoplait flavor challenge.

      • Eric Stott

I can see VATS being used for Ombre dyeing

    • BuffaloBarbara

You know, I think coffee of any sort would be a perfect sponsor for this show. For the all nighter challenge!

  • blondie65

Damn Alexandria…I am now officially rooting for you. Where has that girl been all season???

    • PastryGoddess

She hasn’t been hiding her bitch this season. It’s just been eclipsed by other crazier bitches

    • erica

For real! She was so meek and pathetic when Ken belittled her.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Meek or smart enough not to engage a rageaholic?

        • erica

Completely not assertive is not acceptable. Especially in a gendered dynamic.

      • nosniveling

she needed to pick on somebody her own size :)

  • Eric Stott

Get ready for a lot of dresses that don’t drape well

  • housefulofboys

I may have to stop watching, between Helen getting on my nerves, and the DAMN Yoplait commercial and that damn cow that made it. Gah!!

  • Cheryl

From TLo’s Twitter: “I want to meet the ad exec that made this. AND POOP ON HIM.”

  • guest2visits

I’ll admit I may have sketched my own HP design if you do. Once.

  • GeorgiaMaude

Alexandria = Sonya Cross (maybe this has been said before?) No filter. No emotion.

Even though she’s totally right about the tears.

    • BPlease

She’s a remorseless running machine. I want to know more about the 50 marathons!

  • Call me Bee

Arrrrgh! You’d think with what a big company Yoplait is part of (General Mills,) you’d think they could film another damn commercial about the frozen yogurt!! SO….sickofit!

    • housefulofboys

You read my mind, I have to mute it now, the damn commercial is raising my blood pressure…

  • ChristinaRi

i left to make a drink. did i miss any thing?

    • Stubenville

      Nope.

  • PastryGoddess

    House of Versace look AMAZING!

    /sarcasm

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Like Roadhouse. THAT kind of amazing. I cannot wait!!!!

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

I once met someone who had never seen Roadhouse. I did not think that was even possible.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

          Poor lost lamb.

        • Call me Bee

OK–don’t hurl things at me, but I’ve never seen it.

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Oh Bee. It’s so, so, so bad. I love every single second of it.

          • Call me Bee

OK, ok. I’ve seen the error of my ways. Will watch it at next opportunity.

          • Swiftlytiltingplanet

            Hooray! Another lost soul saved!

          • formerlyAnon

            Don’t do it sober/unaltered.

          • PastryGoddess

would you mind some slightly withering shade thrown your way? I just can’t help myself

          • Swiftlytiltingplanet

I am so sad for you. You must Netflix!

          • formerlyAnon

No, Bee, really, you need not see it. Unless you were not planning on doing anything remotely useful, productive or joyful with that time anyway. In which case, I recommend a mildly altered state and a very sarcastic viewing companion.

ETA: totally lost where this should be in the non-nesting comments. Not that important.

          • Call me Bee

It’s ok. I can just take some of my Angry Birds playing time. And I have live-in sarcastic viewing companion–The Hubs. We’re good.

          • Meredith_P

It’s so bad (and rewatchable), my DH has the DVD. Tragically bad, actually.

          • Call me Bee

Any movie with Swayze, Kelly Lynch (worst actress of the 80s by far) and Ben Gazerra has to be bad!

          • blondie65

Oh….do yourself a favor….next sick day or Saturday night when plans got cancelled, open a bottle of wine and spend 90 minutes just enjoying…

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

            “I brought JC Penny’s here!”
            “Pain don’t hurt.”
“I fucked guys like you in prison.”

            So many gems!

      • PastryGoddess

I bet it will be amazing if you watch it drunk and/or high

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

          of course.

        • formerlyAnon

          It certainly helps. Helped.

  • Bexxx

Y’all I CANNOT wait to watch House of Versayce.

  • PastryGoddess

STFUH. Her navel gazing is getting on my nerves

  • Stubenville

I bet Drag Brows gets the “it looks dirty” comment.

    • OrigamiRose

I can just hear Nina’s voice: “It looks like a cake… on the wrong end of the digestive process. It is not aesthetically pleasing.”

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Oh! I really, really, really want to hear Nina say “Poop!”

        • Stubenville

          But is poop editorial?

          • formerlyAnon

Much has been deemed to be editorial in the past.

          • NDC_IPCentral

In the Journal of Gastroenterology? We have been having a colonoscopy discussion here tonight….

        • OrigamiRose

I think you’re going to get your wish :)

  • Stubenville

Dear God, WTF has Kate made?

    • OrigamiRose

      The Ultimate Frankendress.

    • Call me Bee

If she’s not on the bottom and OUT this week, I’m done.

  • PastryGoddess

Kate it’s difficult because you made a shitty dress

  • nosniveling

    Tim’s purple tie rocks

  • Eric Stott

Looks like Justin is using a minimal amount of the print

  • Bexxx

OH WOW that is bad. Wow. DragBrows’ face says it all.

  • housefulofboys

Oh, NOW Helen feels better. I’m so relieved.

    • nosniveling

coz she sees how bd everyone else’s stuff is

  • Stubenville

    A giant tampon? ROTFLMAO

    • Eric Stott

Could be worse- what’s a tapering cylinder covered with something semi transparent and clingy…..

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

        A shrink-wrapped rocket?

        • Eric Stott

I think some guys might call it that…

  • ChristinaRi

Make-up guy totally hitting on Braden. eek

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Kate’s is awful. I’m so happy.

  • PastryGoddess

Did Alexandria just make up a word

  • Angela_the_Librarian

    WTF did Kate make?

    • PastryGoddess

Whatever it is, she thinks its AH-MAY-ZING. and in the top

    • Cheryl

I don’t know how she got there. Her inspiration was a girl who made a unique app. Wasn’t she going to do something with binary code?

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

A design that would look to be one thing but really be something else.

    • Eric Stott

      a “Pooping Fabric” dress?

  • DeTrop

It isn’t difficult enough to design a textile so they have to pick a muse for inspiration. A muse who’s interests are surely not the designers. This is just plain ridiculous. If Justin can come up with something ‘fashionable’ he’ll win this challenge. He certainly has the story to go with his design.

What is with Bradon? That print should only be used for – for – struggling here. Oh, maybe lining a wicker basket.

I see Dom is making her usual sheath dress. Boring!

  • nosniveling

    HAHAHA giant tampon!!!

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

    “Honor the challenge”? Huh?

    • nosniveling

it would be a first in the history of Project Runway!!

  • Bexxx

we all know who’s getting “looks like a cult leader”

  • Eric Stott

Helen’s dress is…..less awful than the others

    • PastryGoddess

      the meh of the worst

  • Eric Stott

Even Dom’s model can’t pull off that print- it’s too much.

  • Frank_821

Actually Braden’s jacket looks cool. thank god he made a jacket with that fabric. it would made a great coat as well

    • Eric Stott

it isn’t awful- but it’s hardly inspired.

    • otterbird

Ya makes everything look good. Ya is magic.

  • OrigamiRose

Is it too much to hope for the Pope Poop Dress and Futurama to get a dual-auf?

  • ChristinaRi

Old people are not all dotty.

  • BPlease

The cheese stands alone. I like Alexander’s from what I’ve seen. I’m not afraid of the scorn of Nina Garcia. If Saint Laurent sold that dress (no print – white cross, black garment), she’d have put it in Elle. (Not Marie Claire, because the editorials are mostly sexing up work clothes for after hours).

  • PastryGoddess

Project runway..brought you you by poop, and toilets…and stuff

    • OrigamiRose

Coming next season: A design inspired by the talking toilet paper bears.

      • Stubenville

        So soft!

        [snicker]

        • OrigamiRose

You KNOW you want to hear Nina say that!

      • MilaXX

I hate those bears. They’re gross!

        • OrigamiRose

I agree. Totally revolting campaign. That’s something I can’t believe made it out of a creative meeting.

          • Swiftlytiltingplanet

I can never quite believe I’m seeing it when it appears.

          • In_Stitches

It’s stopped me from eating dinner with the tv on. The last thing I want to see while eating food is a commercial for toilet paper.

          • AthenaJ

The day I’m out walking in the woods and see a real bear wiping its ass with toilet paper is the day I will finally buy their product.

          • OrigamiRose

Holy shit, I am laughing so hard at your comment. Comment of the Day :)

    • NDC_IPCentral

The c[l]rass goes on and on…..

  • Stubenville

Kate royally deserves the auf. She’s put crap on the runway two weeks in a row. But the producers are trying to Make Kate Happen, so she’ll be safe, and any comment from the judges will be utterly delusional.

  • Bexxx

Are you guys watching the drama on twitter right now?

    • Cheryl

      Yes, Helen the Lush!

  • sunsetwalker

    boring

  • Stubenville

Bradon should win – Ya sold it.

    • blondie65

As she always does….really, at this point, she should just win this season and the rest of them can go home.

    • DeTrop

He turned that around very nicely. I was scared for him when I saw that print in the workroom.

  • PastryGoddess

    Oh Kate. No…whhhhhhyyyyyyyy

  • sk888888

    Alexamder = FUGLY

  • OrigamiRose

I can buy Alexander’s dress as inspired by a cake made for a baptism.

    • DeTrop

I think you got it. He’s capable of much more than this. How disappointing.

    • MoHub

I was thinking 21st Century Crusader.

  • Bexxx

    Oooooh Dom’;s

  • Stubenville

Dom – the boobs have angry eyes! Yikes!

      First thing I saw.

  • PastryGoddess

Alexandria: I do not think that means what you think it means

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Im sorry did she just say well made???

  • ChristinaRi

Seriously, you think the garment is well made?????

  • Stubenville

    Alexandra – a schmatta.

  • Stubenville

    Afterschool Special – a snooze.

  • sunsetwalker

    Helen cried over nothing

  • PastryGoddess

All that navel gazing and that’s all helen made?

    • Eric Stott

Take away the pattern (which isn’t much) and you have a nicely made very basic gown

    • UsedtobeEP

You know, the thing with Helen is that she has an “extroverted creative process.” She needs a lot of sounding boards, even though deep down she’s got good instincts and vision. I think that’s why she ended up working so well on a team. Without feedback, she feels like she’s in a vacuum and hasn’t tested her ideas properly. (And yes, I recognize this because I do it too. I try not to whine, but I do want to know what you think. I would have liked the teams season.)

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

    Alexandria’s is well made?!

    • MoHub

I guess it is if you like bad wrapping and raw edges.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

    BULLSHIT

  • ChristinaRi

the bare midriff is “on trend” just can’t wait for that comment.

    wtf? Alexandra is safe?

    • MoHub

I would definitely have traded Alexandria out for Justin.

  • Peeve

Jesus! Why the hell is Alexandria’s not on the bottom? Awful.

    • Stubenville

      Didn’t fit the script.

    • Meredith_P

Is Alexandria the new Gretchen? That sure brings back bad memories.

  • BPlease

Helen has been pretty astute at being dead-on in terms of certain trends. Net-a-Porter sent out an email with Rooney Mara’s crop-top/skirt look in the last couple of weeks. It looked better than I thought it might.

  • sk888888

Alexandria’s top looked like something my dog chewed on! WTH

    • alyce1213

      Utter garbage.

    • DeTrop

Hasn’t she made that jacket back before? Also, she has some problem with women’s crotches. There’s always something going on in that area.

  • Bexxx

How are y’all ahead of me

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      Me, too!

  • PastryGoddess

    Michael B. Jordan…That is all

  • BuffaloBarbara

The hell? How is that mess of Alexandria’s safe? I was embarrassed for her “inspiration” (who I think was the only one not to make an encouraging comment).

Helen’s was pretty. Justin’s was pretty. Braden’s was cool (though I still like my idea of shorts better). I like the idea of Dom’s, but something in the execution didn’t quite work.

    • alula_auburn

It was safe the way her tablecloth dress was safe. In backwardsville.

  • guest2visits

Kate that is both bland and busy.. .a square block of mess.

  • BPlease

Justin had by far the worst execution, it seemed and the dress itself was just insipid.

    • Eric Stott

      It’s pretty….just pretty

  • NDC_IPCentral

Alexandria safe for that kilt on krack? That was a design that wasn’t realized well…..

Dom for the win – that is a striking dress that really uses a clever fabric design. She aced it.

Helen pulled it out, after all her boo-hooing.

Kate deserves a full-on AUF. A monstrosity. If she’s praised, the fix will smell like week-old fish.

DragBrow’s (don’t remember his real name!) dress’s white accents are lousy.

Justin – more of the same, which should bore Nina.
I cannot recollect Braden’s look for the life of me…..

    • Eric Stott

Braden – nice cropped jacket, but not memorable

      • NDC_IPCentral

Thanks, Eric. Braden’s dress really is smart, and the jacket is a sharp contrast, so he’ll be in the top group.

  • erica

I still cannot believe that Alexandria is safe. Her innovator literally made an expression of shock and horror when the model walked out.

    • Gretchen

Simpering princess Kate made a dance costume. I thought she and Alexandria would fight for last.

    • MoHub

And her inspiration: the brick wall. Really? That’s all she could come up with?

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Could Dom finally get the win?

    • Eric Stott

I don’t like the print or the dress, but at least she used COLOR

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

I really want a challenge that bans black and white.

    • alula_auburn

I feel like the proportions are maybe a tad off, but it’s better conceived than a lot of what’s up there.

  • Stubenville

Oh Zac, you’d wear it anyway.

  • Eric Stott

Is “Depressed Dress” the new “Sad”?

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

The judges are pretty spot-on with Justin. But I don’t want him Auf’d if Kate gets to stay.

  • Eric Stott

Justin’s being rightfully called out on lack of inspiration

    • MoHub

Just the same, I’d have put Justin in the safe middle and Alexandria in the bottom.

  • PastryGoddess

Zac you can’t stumble on the words the producers are feeding you. You’ve got to spit it out confidently

  • sk888888

    world recognized? in what universe?

  • OrigamiRose

Bottom two should be Kate and the Poop Dress. That buttercream cross is just the limit.

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

    Serious over-praising of Braden.

  • Stubenville

The judges are wetting themselves over Bradon’s. So he’ll be second. [eyeroll]

  • otterbird

    YA IS MAGIC.

  • housefulofboys

Wow, Helen just gave Bradon such an evil side-eye

  • alula_auburn

OMG, Alexander’s novel looks like she’s going to puke from stress.

  • Eric Stott

“Your best work all season”……that’s not saying much

  • PastryGoddess

So basically they could care less about the print. but they love the dress

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

THE DRESS? He bought a tube of stretchy material. IT MADE ITSELF!

    • PastryGoddess

      THANK YOU!!!

  • sunsetwalker

wow he did nothing tat all with that fabric

  • sk888888

My retinas!!! Ewww cake dress. Mess.

  • alula_auburn

Cake pope? Pope cake? Poop cake? Caca by Pope?

eta: I think that dress gave me Tourette’s.

    • OrigamiRose

      Pope Poop I.

      • AthenaJ

I cannot stop giggling over this!

  • PastryGoddess

    did he just snort?

  • otterbird

Now, Zac, cult leaders like to look nice too, you know.

  • sunsetwalker

    really Nina really?

  • Eric Stott

Zac…you just stepped a little to far over the line, and that queen is going to snap you

  • housefulofboys

I need a translation for what Helen just said. i suspect she said nothing.

    • PastryGoddess

My muse was amazing and I’m afraid of prints

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

    Prints are scarey?

  • Stubenville

So Justin and Drag Brows are auf.

    • OrigamiRose

I’m holding out for Kate in place of Justin but I realize it’s hopeless.

      • Stubenville

She deserves it, but will probably skate by.

  • PastryGoddess

next week on Afterschool special: Prints are Scawy!

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

    Oh for fucks sake!

  • Angela_the_Librarian

    Star spangled hipster?? Egads!

  • Stubenville

    “Star spangled hipster” [snort]

  • alula_auburn

Helen’s print makes me think of My Little Pony markings or ass stamps or whatever they’re called. Also that girl who got stars tattooed all over her face and claimed she fell asleep and the tattoo guy did it without her asking.

  • Bexxx

    star spangled hipster…

  • Eric Stott

Guest judge is giving me an Alfred E Newman vibe

  • otterbird

This is so mean of me, because Kate is probably a very good egg in real life, but I’m so tired of Lifetime telling me who I am supposed to root for that I have been looking forward to her being in the bottom all critique. I kind of hate myself a bit right now.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Oh, don’t hate yourself. Have a drink, instead.

      • otterbird

Much better idea! I’ll do it.

        • Swiftlytiltingplanet

          Always glad to help!

  • Munchkn

Helen’s dress has a V of stars that point right towards the model’s cooch. How is that not called out?

    • erica

And Dom’s dress has angry eye boobs!

      • Meredith_P

They’re not really angry…just pink. :-) Maybe they were crying for Kate.

  • sk888888

    I need a Kate Translator.

  • PastryGoddess

    Kate’s is so bad it’s…bad

  • BPlease

    I love Braden’s look.

  • Angela_the_Librarian

    Hoping Dom wins this one!

  • PastryGoddess

    And there are the tears!

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Kate’s is seriously one of the worst things I’ve seen in the history of Project Runway.

  • blondie65

Oh what sweet hell is this that Helen’s look is cool?? Sophisticated? Looks vintage but modern? What? It’s a too tight white dress with some stars. Really…have I had that much wine? Whatthefuckever.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

There is not enough wine in the world to make that make sense.

    • alula_auburn

Seriously, the white and the tight and the stars over her crotch. . .”sophisticated” not so much. If I heard it described I would think it sounded trashy as hell, instead of just weird.

      • demidaemon

It’s a matter of “it was better than everything else (the safe person and the bottom 3) put out so it’s automatically in the top.”

  • BPlease

I would bid on Braden’s dress if PR still sold the samples made during challenges!

    • OrigamiRose

They do! Project Runway dot com.

      • BPlease

        no way?! awesome!

okay, where do I go to bid to get his model’s crazy figure?

        • PastryGoddess

          I recommend tapeworms

        • Guest

You’re probably gonna need about four ribs removed…on each side.

        • OrigamiRose

          That I can’t help you with :)

I’m not sure how quickly the dresses get added for auction, so keep your eyes out. I think the auctions last until the following Tuesday…

  • ChristinaRi

Yes, give Dom the win just because she’s happy and non-annoying.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

    Helen is the new Kate.

  • alula_auburn

Okay, they just lovingly panned over the cooch-stars.

    Also, 1930s pin-up? WAT.

    • otterbird

All the talk about Depressed Dresses made them mix up their decades.

    • Cheryl

And the way she mixed ivory with white. Whaaaa???

  • MilaXX

I think Dom should win this challenge. It may be Justin’s second auf’ing even though Kate’s is horrible. Maybe they both go.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

They have spent the entire season giving Kate rim jobs in judging. She’s safe.

    • Stubenville

      I think we get a two-fer tonight.

    • OrigamiRose

True but Kate does have one elimination to her name, last season. For what it’s worth. (I’m clinging to the hope she’s a goner.)

      • MilaXX

        color me surprised.

        • OrigamiRose

I wish I could insert a gif. The Boba Fett dance is what I’m feeling right now.

  • alula_auburn

hahaha at Tim’s quiet “Believe me, more print would only have made things worse.”

Kate’s is full on fug; Justin’s is only half fug, I guess.

    • Cheryl

So they should send him half-way home.

  • Alloy Jane

Heidi is wearing some kind of mullet poncho over skinny jeans. I’m not even watching this season, but for a second I was worried there’d be no lounge. I <3 the TLounge.

  • In_Stitches

Am I the only one that thinks Braden’s looks like a cheap windbreaker you’d get by sending in 4 wheaties box tops and S&H?

    • Randa

I wad definitely thinking something along the lines of cheap mall clothes.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

And, AND, his dress was halfway constructed when he bought it. He literally pulled it on over the dress form and boom was done.

    • blondie65

No.. I thought the jacket was disappointing …and, was done better in the 80′s. Say what you will about fashion in that decade, the jackets were good! Anyway, what really irked me was how they loved his jersey dress which had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with creating your own pattern challenge. Made me miss Mondo.

  • SRQkitten

Has anyone been counting the number of times they’re showing that yogurt commercial each episode? It feels like its on at every commercial break.

    • ChristinaRi

      shhhh I’m trying to disassociate.

    • Stubenville

That and the white zombie fashion victims driving the Lexus…

  • sunsetwalker

let me have a shot before this ridiculous decision. If Helen wins Im out for the night.

  • BeccaGo

Is it bothering anyone else that the stupid Yoplait boardwalk challenge commercial specifically features THE LOSING DRESS?

    • OrigamiRose

      Viva Sustainicorn!

    • Cheryl

Nope, I don’t watch the commercials (I mute the sound). I never knew there was a featured dress in the ad.

    • PastryGoddess

and that tells you all you need to know about Yoplait

  • BuffaloBarbara

Okay, on closer look — don’t look closer at Justin’s.

Helen deserved to be in the top three, but doesn’t deserve to win.

Braden’s jacket is great. I kind of want it, but made for winter, so I could wear it every day in the upcoming cold.

I think what throws Dom’s off is that high black neckline. Something about that was awkward. The sleeves also felt a skosh too long. But she did the best at using the print she created, and the print was striking. So I’d give it to her.

Kate’s… oh, dear. No. Just, no. Everything was wrong with that outfit. Nothing at all worked in it.

    Alexander. There are no words.

    Three-fer?

  • Eric Stott

    good for Dom

  • PastryGoddess

    yay Dom!!!

  • OrigamiRose

FINALLY Dom wins a challenge straight-up.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

    Very good.

  • Stubenville

    Yay Philly girl!

    • AthenaJ

      Represent!!

  • NDC_IPCentral

    Hurrah for Dom!

    Now….

Get ready to scream at the screen….

    • OrigamiRose

*crosses fingers and lights candles to hear Kate’s name*

  • sunsetwalker

    Woohooo

  • Bexxx

    you are all out

  • BPlease

    That sucks. Alexander’s out.

  • Tigerfly

    There’s one…

  • OrigamiRose

    Bye Drag Brows!

    • Eric Stott

His decoy collection made quite a splash though

      • OrigamiRose

I think he is talented but the second he went for tie-dye brown and a masking tape crucifix…. Ugh. Bad.

        • Stubenville

          A fondant faux pas?

          • OrigamiRose

You are the Crown Jewel of the Bon Mots Throne.

  • UsedtobeEP

    That was a surprise.

  • GTrain

if Kate were anyone else she would have been out first

  • BPlease

    Justin’s in? WTF??

    • Eric Stott

      coughpoliticalcorrectnesscough

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

So cynical and yet so bitter.

    • BuffaloBarbara

They still had episodes to fill, and Alexander’s and Kate’s were worse?

    • Ginny Ellsworth

Because they liked half of his dress and none of Kate’s.And I’d like to think it was delayed payback for that monstrosity she created last week.

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

    Please, please…

  • NDC_IPCentral

WHOOHOO! The Anointed falls from her perch.

  • UsedtobeEP

    Whoa!!!

  • Bexxx

    PLEASE

  • OrigamiRose

YES YES YES YES BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT EVER!

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      today?

      • OrigamiRose

Technically, Saturday, but all that talk about cake put me firmly in a celebratory mood from the get-go.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Well, maybe I’ll get to be the fist to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope can celebrate all weekend long.

          • OrigamiRose

Awwww, thank you! It’s going to be just me, vodka and the “Sex and the City” pink box (I’m sorry, I still love that show). Here’s hoping I survive and the cat doesn’t end up eating my face ;)

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

If you want to get drunk and snarky, drop me a line. We’ll find something to hate watch. My email is in my bio. Cheers! And remember, feed the kitty first, it will buy you a couple of extra days for someone else to find your body.

          • OrigamiRose

Awww how sweet, thank you! I just may take you up on that :))

          • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I just want you to know, I’m doing my part. I’ve got a buzz and Killers is on. I hope you’re having a good birthday.

          • OrigamiRose

Just shot ya an email ;)

          • AthenaJ

We could be besties, vodka and SATC sounds like a fun night to me!

          • OrigamiRose

            And cake! :)

          • Call me Bee

Have a Happy Birthday, and here’s hoping you’ll survive to show up here next week….

          • OrigamiRose

Thank you very much! Although I don’t know who is left to root for being auf’d next week. I guess Alexandra by default? Justin has just been too much of a model dresstesstant to want to see leave, which is a bad reason to root for someone… but since they shove bad behavior down our throats as reasons for staying, why not root for him for being a good guy?

  • Tigerfly

    And there’s two…

  • Bexxx

    yessssssYUSSSSS

  • BPlease

Justin is a lovely human being but that dress is dreck.

I feel sorry for Kate, g-d help me.

AND THE GODS SMILE ON US

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      PLAID!

  • Stubenville

    So Kate Doesn’t Happen.

    • MoHub

Best surprise of my life. Happy to be wrong about her predetermined win and won’t miss her one bit.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

    HUZZAH!!

  • sk888888

    close but no cigar, Kate

  • blondie65

    Well…Dom won….that’s something anyway.

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

I just screamed yes at “Kate, You’re OUT!” and woke up two cats. It was worth it.

    • Stubenville

You do realize that the cats are going to kill you while you sleep? It’s been nice knowing you.

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

It’s a risk I take every night. I like living on the edge.

  • PastryGoddess

    yay Kate is gone.

  • GTrain

That was her own fault. That outfit was garbage

    • Stubenville

And last week was just as bad.

      • MoHub

Kate’s had several misses, but until now, she’d always been in the middle at worst. Nice to know her first time in the bottom sent her out the door.

    • conniemd

Her outfit was one of the worst I’ve ever seen on PR and I’ve watched every year. It was ugly, stupid looking, print invisible and I can’t believe that any designer in her right mind could ever think it wasn’t anything other than a total embarrassment.

  • OrigamiRose

Oh, quit yer crying, you shouldn’t have even made it this far.

  • ThaliaMenninger

Oh my goodness. Did not expect that to happen with Teacher’s Pet. But her “dress” deserved the auf.

    • Ginny Ellsworth

I think they replaced our regular teacher’s pet with After School Special and cleared the runway for her second auf.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

“I knew they would take this opportunity to eliminate me again.” Bitch please. They have been blowing you all season.

  • otterbird

I’ve been so annoyed with her all season, but now I feel terrible for her. Just, Lifetime, STOP TRYING TO MAKE SOMEONE HAPPEN. When a contestant who can carry a show comes along, you’ll know.

  • alula_auburn

What is Kate talking about? The double-elimination was an “opportunity” for them to auf her? how bizarre.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

      She’s just that special.

    • OrigamiRose

She’s a special snowflake. It’s always all about her!

    • Sally3000

It sounded to me like she was trying to highlight the fact that she wasn’t the worst that day, she was the second worst, and it just happened to be her bad luck to be second worst on a double elimination day.

  • SRQkitten

Shocked by this outcome? Mr. Gunnn, please!

    • GTrain

shocked because he thought the fix was in

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        THIS

  • BeccaGo

WHAT DOES LIFETIME HAVE AGAINST REDHEADS??!?

  • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Oh, Tim, it wasn’t hard at all for some of us.

  • otterbird

And Braden realizes he’s the last ginger standing.

  • alula_auburn

Well, I’m ending up with more respect for Alexander, if nothing else, for behaving well.

    • BPlease

He’s got a great personality. I really just like him. I would totally watch a reality show of him creating costumes for people – cool people, not the Sonja Morgan nightmares on Chris March’s show. (And I love Chris.)

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Except for last week’s blip, he’s always behaved well.

      • alula_auburn

Yeah, I just came in half way through, so except for Ken I didn’t have real strong opinions about most people. But he was very sweet to Kate there.

    • BuffaloBarbara

It’s almost like they have a grown-up on the show.

  • Stubenville

Funny, they’re weren’t all this emotional when Ken left…

    /sarcasm

    • Ginny Ellsworth

I bet they were. They waited until the Tiny Tyrant was moved to the safe house and then the party started!

  • UsedtobeEP

Finding it odd they did a double elimination. It didn’t really seem necessary at this point.

    • PastryGoddess

They had to do it at some point, since this was the penultimate challenge. Tim’s save brought back Justin, so they have had an extra designer since then.

  • NDC_IPCentral

Next week – Weepy Runway. Is that a re-run? Or an endless loop?

  • ChristinaRi

    The two red heads out.

I tell you what. Let’s have Kate back EVERY season! I don’t think anyone could ever get tired of her.

    • ThaliaMenninger

I was just trying to decide how long before they bring her back for an All-Star season. Or back during the first episode of EVERY season as their special comeback kid. “You’ll never guess who we invited back!” Pan across shocked designers’ faces. Cue van door sliding open/airplane stairs coming down/elevator doors open/manhole cover pops up and there’s KATE, ONE MORE TIME! She’s gonna keep coming back till she wins, damn it.

      • LJCdoc

Maybe she’ll pop out of a giant box.

        • MoHub

          Or a cake.

          • Ginny Ellsworth

            That Alexander designed….

          • MoHub

Only if Kerry Vincent can pass judgment.

          • Ginny Ellsworth

Mwahhhahaahahaaaa! Thanks for brightening my morning. That doesn’t include cake. But really should.

    • NDC_IPCentral

      Kate – Project Run-Ground-Hog-Way.

  • Tigerfly

They probably did a double elimination now and will send everyone that’s left to fashion week.

  • BuffaloBarbara

Oh, good. Next week we can look forward to everyone being forced to say “Why I deserve to go to fashion week,” which boils down to, “I really, really want to!”

    • OrigamiRose

“No one has worked harder than me!”

      • BuffaloBarbara

“And it’s always been my DREAM!”

        • OrigamiRose

“It would be a first for Project Runway to have me in its final!”

          • Elizabeth Szubert

Justin could be the only one to say that and not get laughed off the runway. Thankfully, he has more class than that.

    • Jacquelyn

“And I’m only saying this to keep up the pretense that I’m not already going in order to fool the TV audience into thinking that PR really only sends 3 designers! So send me! Send MEEEEEE”

      • BuffaloBarbara

Is there anyone left who’s still fooled? (Of course, only three or four of them are actually sent to compete at fashion week, so they can get away with the wording, I guess.)

        • MoHub

I snorted when Kate said, “I really wanted to show at Fashion Week” after her slimination.

    • mhleta

      It’s my DREEEEM.

    • SewingSiren

“I really, really believe for the Iraq and the south Asian countries. And for the children.”

  • Eric Stott

Could next week be the dreaded “Pick an Auf’d designer to help you”

    • conniemd

Yep. Picture it. They bring back the last 5 aufed designers. Dom gets to pick first and then the dreaded fake button bag gets used and Alexandra gets stuck with Ken.

  • PastryGoddess

Ok it’s either House Hunting internationally or Impossible Hotels

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      what/where is impossible hotels?

      • PastryGoddess

Travel Channel. Hotel Impossible. Anthony and Blanche.

They were in Ocean City, MD this week.

    • Bexxx

Did you turn on House Hunters are hear that lady say “derelictish”?

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Hey now, I make up words all the time. The English language can’t keep up with my creative flow. ; )

      • AthenaJ

I think she was distracted by the shower that includes a possibility of being electrocuted.

        • Bexxx

I actually lived in Costa Rica for a while and everyone has the electric hot water. You get used to it.

      • PastryGoddess

        say what?

  • UsedtobeEP

Goodnight BKs. Have enjoyed spending my evening with you all. XO

  • manina

What is Heidi wearing? One of those crazy things she wears sometimes. This one seems like a regular outfit a regular mom would wear. But she always looks good.

    • BuffaloBarbara

I got that, too. My impression was that her alarm clock malfunctioned and she woke up and said, “Whoa! I have to dash to the studio!” So she grabbed what she had on the day before to take the kids to soccer. My bigger question was why the L’Oreal people couldn’t spot her a hairbrush.

      • queenceleste

I think that’s what you call “beachy waves” or “that tousled, just-out-of-bed” look, and she probably used a special L’Oreal product to achieve it.

    • MilaXX

She’s a spokesperson for Jordache jeans so I bet those are who she’s wearing.

  • SewingSiren

Kate’s was the worst and Dom’s was the best.
Alexander got was the one that got screwed and Helen was definitely gifted into the top.

    • ThaliaMenninger

I am kind of offended that Helen had this amazing stuff to work with from the artist who was supposed to be her inspiration and did THAT and didn’t get called on it. She had so much to work with in his work. And she did something that has no connection to his work and instead, looked like a lame costume for Star Spangled Girl in 1966.

      • mhleta

Star Spangled SATAN Girl. Those were Satanic stars. Whatever.

  • SewingSiren

    Also don’t understand: Helen”*cry* I don’t do print.”
What the fuck? Don’t do prints? She IS a print!

    • mhleta

      Tell it.

    • Ginny Ellsworth

Maybe they could have covered her in paint and just rolled her across the fabric?

      • SewingSiren

I actually knew a MFA student who made mono prints that way . You had to get naked roll in paint , take a pose and kind of fall on to the canvas.
I just thought it extremely ironic that she was so repelled by the idea of using or making printed fabric when she has chosen to permanently print her body. So in effect she is “wearing” a print every single day.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I’m calling it, Kittens. Always a pleasure!!
    xo

    • OrigamiRose

      Bon soir!

  • Wellworn

Well the good news is, I finally got a job after 2 years of unemployment. Bad news is, some of the classes I teach are at night so Thursday nights I get home in the middle of PR, and my brain is so fried and exhausted that I care even less now about what happens. I guess the judges/Kate lovefest is over suddenly? Dom finally isn’t in the middle and she wins? “Tough” Helen cried and was insecure (doesn’t that happen every week?). Double elimination – did they have too many contestants for the remaining weeks, so will they not eliminate someone next week? I predict that everyone is so good next week that they all will be in the final, hence the double auf tonight. Does that make sense? I need coffee!

    • OrigamiRose

Hey, many congratulations on the job! Woo hoo!

As long as you can still pop into the Lounge, we’ll do our best to entertain you after a long day (without tears, or flying irons, or Mommie Dearest face masks).

      • Wellworn

I will try to make it, with toothpicks propping my eyes open. My love for the entertaining TLo and BKs will suffice to keep me awake.

    • Denise Plank

      Congratulations!

    • MilaXX

      congrats on the new job.

  • kipper

Drats ! I hate when I am running late and don’t get to watch WITH you all!

  • Annie Lure

I’m sorry to see Alexander go. He’s awesome: not ingratiating, not a crier, confident but not cocky, bitchy when the situation called for but mostly with a positive attitude towards the whole experience. And he’s CLEARLY one of the best designers this season. He’s a craftsman. And, rather than present costumes every challenge, he allowed his costume background to inform his garments. As for Kate, it was her time to go. Her aesthetic is not edgy or modern or youthful; it’s precious and saccharine, as evinced by this garment, and that’s not what they’re looking for.

    • MilaXX

I honestly didn’t think he had the worse design up there.

      • Annie Lure

I completely agree. Sure, it was dour, and they were expecting something cheery and fulgent; however, he knew that, as a costume designer, when confronted with something as decorative and festive as cake designs, he ran the peril of making a parade float, how Chris March knew that his impulse was to do just that in the candy store challenge, and resisted it, choosing instead to make something clean and graphic.

        • MilaXX

I liked the print and I liked the dress except for the white piping.

          • mhleta

It was the sort of thing I could see women wearing at my parents’ cocktail parties in the 60′s. Cross and all.

          • MoHub

He actually had one of the more interesting prints, and the silhouette of the dress wasn’t bad. He just needed to listen to Tim and lose the white Crusader cross. I’m surprised that since he was channeling his last name, he didn’t put a mitre on the model.

          • Ginny Ellsworth

            And RED shoes!

          • MoHub

“Everyone, get on your knees; fiddle with your rosaries; send the Pope your respect, and—
            genuflect, genuflect, genuflect!”

          • Ginny Ellsworth

            “Look busy!”

          • MilaXX

I didn’t even mind the stripes on the sleeves, it was the cross down the front that threw things off.

      • MCM

I can’t believe he went home and Alexandria’s mess was safe.

        • MilaXX

YES! That was ugly and unfinished looking

    • guest2visits

Agree about Alexander; a decent, level person, and he has skills! And this wasn’t a bad design, one of the better prints, I thought.

      • Annie Lure

Yes, one of the better prints because it wasn’t literal-minded. He didn’t aim to replicate flowers and squiggles. In challenges in which you’re asked to draw inspiration from a source, be it a photograph, a necklace design, or a hair-style, your assignment is to extract, not to emulate.

  • guest2visits

Certainly can’t disagree with Kate’s auf for that mess. Where the hell was she driving that bus anyway…what was it supposed to be and where did her print go. I do wish she had done well enough to get to final 3. Don’t agree with Alexander’s auf; even though I think the stripes would have been better in some shade of grey or brown for contrast, just not the blinding white. I liked his print. I thought Alexandria’s print was uninspiring. Bland. I know it’s supposed to be edgy and cool but it looked too deconstructed and at the same time dated. I would have put her’s on the bottom as well.
I loved Justin’s as it walked it looked perfect, but up close the construction point where the corset met the skirt was a bit clumsy. I still don’t see why the judges kept ripping it to shreds though. I liked his ghostly print.
I loved Bradon’s print; and I liked the jacket and sweater dress he made. I had his, Dom’s and Helen’s at the top. Dom’s print was a perfect fit with her muse inspiration (the dress reminded me of a certain Mondo column dress that the judges disagreed about) but this was very charming and I loved the print she created. I can’t believe Helen actually managed to turn that difficult and not very attractive print she made into something I liked, damn it. It seems the dress probably showed better in person than on the screen because of it’s ivory/white combination. It looked a bit retro 70s inspired to me.

    • Call me Bee

Yeah–dontcha hate it when the designer you love to hate actually does something interesting and good? So annoying.

      • guest2visits

HA! So right. Yeah she’s not my favorite. Wants to exude bratty goth/punk attitude all over the place – in between frequent weepiness and requests for guidance & help.

        • mhleta

It saddens me to see that her creativity comes from a place of fear and insecurity. She needs to get that under control or she won’t last long in the industry. I can’t much see anyone tolerating that sort of whiny meltdown in the professional world.

  • Jacob Bowen

Justin probably should’ve gone instead of Alexander, as much as that pains me to say (I LOVE Justin). I actually really like Alexander’s dress, the white didn’t read tape to me and I didn’t think it blinded me from the rest of the dress. If I had my way though, Alexandria would’ve gone because her outfit was AWFUL and looked terribly unfinished. I don’t like her and I don’t understand WHY they like her.

  • bertkeeter

    What’s Peter wearing?

    • Stubenville

      Well he’s not wearing socks.

  • Frank_821

Of the 3 on the bottom it came as no surprise who ended up getting auf’d. The double elimination made sense since they had to stick to their shooting schedule.

Kate’s was not only the worst of evening but it was quite possibly the worst thing she ever made on the show. It’s got to be 1 of the grand stinkers of the season. What made it most shocking was the poor construction. Whatever you think of Kate’s POV, the girl does know how to construct a dress

It was kind of a toss up between Alexander and Justin. The construction on Justin was far worse. I was shocked how badly sewn the skirt was. I felt the judges were spot on. while the top half was well made and the print had an interesting concept, it did look like a dull pageant dress

I thought Alexander made poorer design choices though. It seemed like he wanted to do a futuristic look in the vein of Rudi Gernreich a la Space 1999 but the color and placement of those stripes were a nightmare and completely ruined the look. Instead of placing a cross he should have had the dress as a top or a jacket and paired it with white skinny pants. Then you would have gotten the rich crazy sexiness that the came from the inspiration

In fact Justin’s would have benefited too if he had made pants to go with that bodice. His muse struck me as strong and dynamic. he should have made sportswear

    • mhleta

And yet Alexandria’s beyond-bland print, hideous non-design and grade school level construction gets a pass. She does not belong in the top five.

  • In_Stitches

Keeping Justin over Alexander legitimizes “Tim’s Save”, so of course they would. Bummer, because while his print was pretty solid, the construction was so poor it warranted an auf. Alexander’s was odd (some might say ugly and unflattering), but at least it was a fresh idea.

    • mmebam

I’m wondering if Tim wishes he had saved his save for Kate.

    • putacorkinit

I thought Alexander’s white filling and brown spongecake dress was great. I’d have put him in the top three. I just don’t get the judge’s decisions sometimes.

I thought Alexandria’s dress was ultra-Meh! Which is why I suppose she was waved off the stage without even a comment at the beginning of the judging.

      • SewingSiren

My initial thought when the top and bottom were called was that Alexander would be in the top (3rd) and Helen would be in the bottom (5th).

    • jeneria

I thought Alexander’s dress was interesting and spoke to his inspiration.

I really thought Alexandria was going to be in the bottom, along with Helen’s 1990′s 90210 hot mess dress (seriously, it looked like something Donna would wear as “formal” wear).

I am so happy Kate was aufed though. About time. What an affront to her inspiration!

And while Dom’s dress was good, I don’t think it reflected her inspiration at all. But she was due.
Justin’s mediocrity has been rewarded long enough. I get it, he’s a nice guy, but seriously.
Bradon’s outfit was simply spectacular. I really though he captured his inspiring person the best.

      • queenceleste

I got the feeling that Alexander was SO OVER PR. I think he was only barely holding in several major eye rolls toward the end.

  • mmebam

    Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! Damn.

  • ballerinawithagun

    Both women look pregnant!

  • jillwrites

Kate’s outfit did look like a tampon.
