The Blonds Spring 2014 Collection

Posted on September 13, 2013

There is nothing about a The Blonds show we don’t love to death. It’s usually one of the last Fashion Week events we attend and it’s always raucous, loud, eye-popping and irreverent. Or put more succinctly: fun. What can you say about a show taking its inspiration from Marilyn Monroe, Marie Antoinette, Madonna, Jane Fonda, and the “Original Blond,” Tweety Bird?

Tweety Bird!

Bow down to the fabulosity, bitches. Sometimes Fashion Week can get pretty far up its own ass and wind up requiring a good slap every now and then. The Blonds are doing God’s Work here.

Please, Katy Perry needs to wear that googly eye dress!

    • fiddlecub

And the Tweety dress just above it!

    • kipper

I did not mean to UN like this !! just happened .. think its a great idea!

      • ana170

You should be able to remove the unlike by clicking it again.

    • j_am

I was thinking the exact same thing!!

    • Renaton

I desperately need Rihanna to use the third look in a video. Also, that green shiny corset.

      • JosephLamour

        Night Work icon! You win.

    • Danielle

I came here to post the same thing. Great minds!

  • Jacquelyn

Is it ok that I kinda love that Tweety Bird dress?
Every single one of these could have stepped out of an episode of Star Trek: The Original Series. Bless.

    • kimmeister

      Live long and prosper!

    • fursa_saida

      Warp factor Tweety.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

everyone should have a tweety bird dress in their closet. just in case.

      • http://www.epilonicast.net/theydontknow epilonious

“Wait!? WHAT!? Hold on!!” *Runs to closet for some tweetybird*

The problem is I’m sure justification would mean it starts getting used on unshowered grocery store day at my house…

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I want to be of this world.

    • StellaZafella

Butcha ARE dear, YA ARE! We both are, otherwise we couldn’t see it…it would just be a blur beyond our ability to enjoy.

I REEAALLLY wanna wear some of these coats…at my age…with tight white jeans and bitch boots. I could make it a block before falling over, but, what a block to walk!

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        There would be applause!

Since I subscribe to the multiple simultaneous universes theory, you must be right; in one of them, this is my fashion standard.

  • SewingSiren

For some reason The Blondes really irritate me.

  • fiddlecub

Oh Lawd, #14: I do not want the Eye of Sauron gazing at me from any lady’s vag area. “Mount” Doom, indeed.

  • Sweetvegan

I want the tinsel cape! Don’t know where I’d wear it. Maybe a PTO meeting.

    • unbornfawn

      Me too!

    • Coleen

      I’d wear it everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

  • Nancer

Fun, yes, but other than on stage when would anyone ever wear 95% of this?

    • Sobaika

That goes for a great deal of what takes place during Fashion Week.

Besides, Katy Perry would wear this to get her morning coffee.

      • Renaton

Katy Perry would wear this to go bed.

      • Nancer

Love the image of Katy in the tweetie bird outfit doing a Starbucks run….!

        • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

or doing someone in her bed.

      • http://anthagio.com Anthagio

Do you even know Katy Perry? She dresses in sweats and a t shirt when she’s getting coffee. She only dresses up when it’s important to.

    • fursa_saida

So? They’ve never pretended to be doing ready to wear.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

that depends on your usual hangouts. for some lifestyles, this is everyday wear.

      • Nancer

True. (Sigh). It must be fun! Wish I could wear some of this. But I don’t think people at the office would be cool with that.

  • decormaven

Some lucky lady is going to WERQ it in that fifth dress.

  • hughman

And you can tell they’re Southern Women because of the Big Hair. Nailed it!

    • decormaven

      And modern, too – yes?

      • hughman

        Thoroughly. Like Millie.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

from brunch to cotillion, the perfect look.

  • Jenna Chapman

That last blue dress is giving. me. life.

  • Latin Buddy

This stuff would look great as stagewear

    • Garcia Loca

Actually, I thought most of it was quite a bit more wearable than what mainstream designers have put out this time.

  • Meredith

    You forgot “My Little Pony”

  • MzzPants

-exhale- I’ve been waiting for this post all week, and by God, it’s GLORIOUS.

  • lexilexi

I watched the show and really felt for that model (pic 18) who seemed to turn her ankle each time she took a step. The clothes – crazy cool -

  • marlie

Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and even Beyonce can and should wear this collection as stage wear. It’s total batshit crazy, but in a fun, completely over-the-top way. Love!

  • NYCGlamourpuss

I love, love LOVE the very first pic and the very last one – awesome! And really, everything else inbetween works for me too!

  • MarieLD

Alexander, in his real or decoy show, styled his models with his eyebrows and it really irked me. Why does a similar eyebrow treatment not bother me here?

    • Frank_821

Well think about how he did hair and the rest of the makeup. The Blonds gave these girls a futuristic 60s space age ‘do

  • http://twitter.com/aynaborrell Anastasia

I LOVE the dress made to look like Sylvester the Cat!

  • Jessica Freeman

That is some of the best bat shit crazy I’ve seen.

  • miscorrections

Somebody’s been watching Barbarella on repeat. I approve.

  • Madam Von Sassypants

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, JEEBUS, YES!

  • In_Stitches

I find this more tasteful than that double thigh slit dress pretty much every other designer has been trotting out. At least with those, the crotches are definitely covered. Tasteful isn’t really the goal here, that would be fun and sexy and they get 10′s for that.

  • frannyprof

    This made my day!!!!

  • JauntyJohn

Love it all — fun and smart and well executed.

And listen up, lady stars with Big Action Comic Book Movies in the pipeline: There are a couple of pieces here which will be PERFECT for your San Diego ComicCon appearance, so take a couple notes and hand them off to your assistant(s) for future review.

  • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Space queens! I love it! Miley should wear this stuff, a lot of the shapes are similar to what she’s wearing already. The least she can do is be fun while she’s being trashy. I can just see her in that skunk-tailed onesie.

I want a hair-bubble like that for everyday wear.

The Tweety-er stuff is all Katy Perry, though.

  • putacorkinit

    Now *this* is fashion!

Whether it’s good fashion or bad fashion I have no idea.

  • putacorkinit

    Hair eggs! The new thing!

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

In all sincerity, I adore the eyeball dress and the silver tinsel coat.

    • sojourneryouth

I, too, love the eyeball dress. It’s witty and pretty.

  • Lori

The one with the cascade of eyes is creeping me out. Aside from that I just laugh and play along, because I’m pretty sure that’s what you’re supposed to do with The Blonds.

    • Eric Stott

I love that one – but who’d wear it?

      • Lori

Fortunately no one who is likely to end up standing in front of me. “Your outfit is giving me a wiggins” is sort of a conversation killer.

  • Let it out

Janelle Monae, the current Queen of Planet Eleganza (beating out stiff competition from Sharon Needles, Willam, and Latrice Motherfuckin’ Royale) in that electric blue dress FTW!

  • golden_valley

Thank you for posting this! What fun!

  • LaSylphide

Totally awesome. Surprised at #5 though: it’s so – what’s the word – normal? I want that blue top in #7, and if nobody shows up somewhere in either #12, or the silver coat in #19, the world will be a lesser place.

  • GorgeousThings

I get a distinct whiff of Terry Mugler circa 1988 from some of these looks. That first bustier just needs handlebars.
    J’adore the first dress!

  • Ashleigh

I read 90% of your posts, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone wearing anything “The Blonds”. Just curious cuz the last collection was pretty fabulous too, does no “one” wear their clothes?

    • MilaXX

Several celebs wear them as stagewear. IIRC Beyonce’s infamous gold nipple outfit was made by them and the Tweety Bird look is very similar to the outfit Miley performed in at the VMA’s.

  • Ashleigh

PS loved the leotard/crotch eye/fabulous boots ensemble

  • MilaXX

I always imagine a Blonds show as being one big party featuring models with blonde wigs. I’m sure Miley would wear at least half of these.

    • Shawn EH

Her spring wardrobe is now all set!

  • jilly_d

I desperately want to see Elizabeth Banks in the last spiky blue number for the Catching Fire premiere.

  • Tanya Wade

Thank you sooooo much for this. I have been waiting patiently, going back and viewing their horror movie collection with a whiff of nostalgia. Yes, Katy Perry’s name is written over many of these, but I have having flashbacks to Madonna’s boots in Desperately Seeking Susan. I would kill for some of these ensembles!

  • Raymond Dnomyar

Katy Perry and Gaga are gonna love this.

  • YoungSally

Tweety Bird…or the yellow Angry Bird?

  • IMNAngryLiberal

If they made that Tweety Bird outfit in a toddler size (including the fur/feather wrap), my 5 year old niece would never wear anything else.

  • formerlyAnon

This is really fun. And without even trying, I saw three or four items that would sell at any reasonably hip retail outlet, and sell like hotcakes.

  • HVM

Rihanna and Katy Perry can have fun with the clothes in this collection.

  • Coleen

Oh my God, that is so fun. New Life List Item: Attend The Blonds runway show once.

  • Monabel

    Space Vixens!!

  • Eric Stott

A LOT of cray walking down the runway, but in a GOOD way…and I adore the “eyes” dress.

  • Adrianna Grężak

Not really my cup of tea, but this looks like a fun fashion show to attend!

  • Toby Wollin

Well, after Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, sometimes you just need a dress with cartoon eyeballs on it, ya know?

  • susan6

I’d love to see Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Miley Cyrus having a knock-down drag out over these looks.

  • idgiepug

I’m loving many things about this, especially the eyes dress, but am I the only who sees a breast penis in the look directly beneath that one? It shows up again in the all-black look.

  • kimmeister

Remember when they used to say that you had good posture if you could walk balancing a book on your head? These models have excellent posture.

  • crash1212

Those silver boots – beaded and otherwise – are giving me life. If Katy Perry doesn’t wear Tweety Bird to something, I will be sorely disappointed. Actually, if Katy doesn’t wear all of this at some point it will make cry.

  • steeg of their own

Katy Perry just blew half her wardrobe budget for the year, I bet. I’m dying to see someone try to wear that tweety-bird getup.

  • Alloy Jane

This is fabulous. So many dramatic yet fun pieces, and while I DO want the dress with all the eyeballs, I’d rather not wear a bathing suit with one on my clit.

  • Donna Tabor

I need that eyeball dress. And the bathing suit with an eyeball in its crotch. I’d never wear either of them, just keep them on dress forms for the sheer joy of it.

  • Trickytrisha

Bizarre, audacious, beyond quirky, unwearable. In other words, wonderful to the nth degree.

  • Aisa Ginger Jake Psenicnik

omg the last dress :D :D wantwantwantwant!!!

  • guest2visits

The eyeball dress would make a great maillot bathing suit. Love the outfits, love the silver sparkled boots and the spikey booties.

  • demidaemon

Even though this was clearly designed for the cast of RPDR, and I do not love or even like everything here, I can get behind their message: crazy without pretension. Because the rest of the crazy (Hello Thom Browne) is clearly well up their own ass.

  • juliamargaret

SUFFERING SUCCOTASH! I love that tinsel coat!

  • quiltrx

Love the robot-wiring looks! And that hundreds-of-Tweety-eyes dress is just genius. Some of this could actually translate into wearable looks with some tweaking (which can’t, and shouldn’t, always be said about The Blonds).
Were it about two feet longer, I would seriously covet the black/white dress 4th from the bottom.

  • Stubenville

Clothes for circus performers and the spoiled twenty-something daughters of Russian billionaires.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

A few too many show girl outfits masquerading as fashion but…it’s a show. And I love a show.

  • fursa_saida

    Fucking genius, all of it.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

space rodeo riders with intergalactic cheerleaders. alien reptile ballerinas with wings. and tails. bombshells from the milky way.

  • ItsDicey

ADORE the Tweedy Bird dress and the googly eye dress. LOVE!

  • Levedi

Does anyone else get a serious Earth Girls are Easy vibe from some of these? And I mean that in the best possible way. This collection is awesome.

  • Akmall Razlan

OMG!, this is the new Blond. For sure, amazing! love it.

  • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Britney is wearing the blue Muppet-shouldered bodysuit in a promo ad! That was fast.

  • algaechick

In all seriousness, what is the significance of the last model having a different wig? The closer, their favorite dress, she threw a diva fit and got to look different?
    I must know!

  • BrightsideSusan

Nice to see women of multiple ethnicities – something that seems to be missing from fashion week.

  • qisnoq

Anyone else getting a 3CPO vibe from the latter half? He was, I guess, as blond as anything?!

  • KaytJ

Great costumes! Oh wait… Never mind, I just don’t get it

  • Derek_anny

    Vandaleyes?

  • lilyvonschtupp

Has anyone ever seen the Blonds Barbie Dolls? They make Bob Mackie’s look like Holly Hobby!

  • Danielle Alistar

These need to be the costumes in the remake of Barbarella.

  • R. L.

Gaga clothes. I wish I could carry off the alien slut look or even the slut look. Fun to look at.

  • tedsmitts

Baby, are those space pants? No, seriously.

  • ballerinawithagun

Lusting for the first bustier in chartreuse and royal!!!

  • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

If I owned that gold corset, I would wear it every day. I would wear it to the grocery store.

  • jmorino08

What? No cameo from Marvin the Martian? That’s a travesty1

  • Jane

Love it all I want to see Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Beyonce in these clothes stat. I wish I could have been there. That silver coat with that suit underneath amazing!
