Wrong shoes.

Drive-by bitchery.  Sorry, hon. We’ve got a fashion show to attend.

Rather lack-luster hair. The shoes would be better with another outfit.

  • Sobaika

She looks like a blonde Sansa.

    • hmariec19

Yes, thank you! I knew she looked like someone, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.

  • flamingoNW

    Love the dress.

But can someone please explain to me about open toed boots or booties? Do not understand. Do not like. Always ugly. Not that closed toe booties would have worked here, but just sayin’

    • marlie

I have a special kind of hatred for open-toed booties. I’ll never get it.

      • ditto!

      • anotherkate

Open-toed boots are like sleeveless cable-knit sweaters, or woolen bathing suits. The aesthetic is for one season and the wearability is for the complete opposite one. I don’t get it, I don’t like it, and I don’t support it!

        • KateShouldBeWorking

I’m a huge believer in the internal consistency of an outfit – and even more so for an individual garment. Are you hot? Fine, wear sandals. Are you cold? Also fine, wear boots.

        • Sarah

Sleeveless turtlenecks! Overalls with tank top/no shirt! Ugg boots with summer clothing! AARGH!!!

        • conniemd

Someone once gave me the prettiest rose colored sweater with a cable knit down the front and SHORT SLEEVES! It was really pretty, but unwearable for summer or even fall. Sometimes in spring, but it just felt awkward. I so longed it to be long sleeved

    • filmcricket

They’re a sign that the apocalypse has already happened, and don’t let anyone tell you different.

    • quiltrx

And I never can get past the thought of “the bottoms of my feet would be sore, and the shoes would stink.” Never will a pair get anywhere near me!

    • Lower L

I haven’t seen a bootie of any description that I found attractive. They are stumpifying in the extreme, no matter what garment the person is wearing.

      • megohd

I so agree. Well, I like an ankle boot with long jeans that cover the ankle. I know it doesn’t make sense.

  • MilaXX

Was thinking the very same thing cute dress, but the shoe does not go with it at all.

  • Tracy_Flick

The dress is pretty, but the styling is terrible.

  • i actually like this as it is. the colours go really well with her complexion and hair colour. the shape (or print) is not the most flattering, tho… makes even the model look a little wide.

  • 3boysful

Ugh, this dress is giving me flashbacks to 1970s Quiana “picture shirts.”

    • LadyCelia

Glad to know I’m not the only one who thought that.

      • NDC_IPCentral

Moi aussi, my friends of a certain age…..

        • 3boysful

Having come of age in the worst decade for fashion, the 70s, I always feel kinda cheated.

    • ballerinawithagun

EEWW yuck! I hadn’t thought about those for OMG 40 years and I never want to think about them again! Thank you for letting me know why I immediately despised this!

    • Nondescript

Yeah, sometimes Mary Katrantzou is awesome and amazing, and sometimes she just looks like she silk-screened a garish picture on some fabric and called it a day, and this strikes me as one of the latter.

    • Constant Reader

Mine was blue and had kittens printed on it. In my defense, I was in middle school.

    • MoHub

Ooh! Major déjà vu! And I had one or two of those and was happy to see them go.

    • decormaven

      On the money. Good call.

  • marlie

“Interesting dress, wrong shoes” was the first thing that popped into my head, and then I scrolled down and read TLo’s commentary.

  • Linda LaPaz

Something is stumpyfying her….not sure if it’s the shoes (which do not go at all in any way with that dress).

  • Laura F.

It looks like there’s a monorail running across her boobs.

    • filmcricket

What about us brain dead slobs? You’ll be given cushy jobs! Monorail! Monorail! Monorail!

      • Laura F.

  • poggi

You guys are so right and so, SO cool. I wish I could breeze out of meeting or sign off on a brief email that I have to run to attend a fashion show. So much more glamorous than I have to get back for the school bus or the cat is throwing up or the UPS driver is at the door.

  • Synnae

    Amen to that conclusion!

  • kimmeister

She gets points for having on an interesting dress, and for knowing how to use eyeliner and blotting papers (or else she could be a Fanning).

  • GoryDetails

{snerk} – on my browser, that third photo has her glancing at the hunky guy in the American Apparel Briefs ad in the margin!

  • Trickytrisha

Lots of celebs are gravitating to these lacy shoes/booties and I’ve yet to see them work well with clothes.

  • Wrong shoes, wrong hair, but that’s a great dress!

    • conniemd

I’d have said Mary Katrantzou if we played a game of name the designer. Has TLO ever done that? We’ve done name the person who would wear the dress, but it would be fun to guess who designed the dress.

  • Monzerrat Ontiveros

Please girl, give your makeup artist telephone number to the Fannings…

    • Monzerrat Ontiveros

      dress is awfull

  • jen

Yikes, those shoes are atrocious! And the dress is meh. She on the other hand, is stunning. What a face!

  • Imasewsure

Ok with the hair, love the dress and hate them ugly booties! Die already ugly footwear trend!!

  • madscntst

The dress…yeah…looks like something Bob Ross would do in his sleep.

  • Heather

Open toed booties – post pedi in the winter, when it’s too cold for flip flops?

  • quiltrx

I like the dress, pretty controlled for Katrantzou…who I want to like but sometimes it’s all just too much.

  • jilly_d

She is…..extremely beautiful. What dress?? What?? DAT FACE

  • PastryGoddess

    Cute dress: Bad hair
    Cute dress: Bad accessories

But hey, at least you’re pretty..and wearing a cute dress

  • ankali

That tears it. Next time I do something that deserves a reward, I’m rewarding myself with a Mary Katrantzou dress. I love this one.

  • roadkill

Lovely print but it is impossible to belt so hate the shape

  • fursa_saida

Not digging anything about this for her–I think it’s a great dress, but just not on her in terms of shape, and for color, it won’t work unless or until she goes for a darker hair color. It makes me sad to say so, because I love her and think she’s brilliantly talented (if you haven’t seen Hanna: do), but none of this is working, IMO.

  • Erica_Vuitton

Is there a shortage of silver sandals in Hollywood right now or something?

  • MK03

She is so stunning it’s almost infuriating.

  • JDreesen

Those aren’t only “someone else’s shoes”, but i think they may actually be someone else’s shoes. they look last-minute-borrowed and forced to fit (ergo, painful).

but with skin like that, who gives a shit what you’ve got on your feet? positively luminous.

  • A Shiny O’Connor

I don’t care if the shoes hurt her, they hurt those who have to view them.

  • livesarah

I was loving the dress, but the shoes killed it. Horrible.

  • megohd

Great makeup for a fair-haired, fresh faced blonde. I’d think she wasn’t wearing any, but I’ve seen Dakota Fanning and I know what pale-faced blondes look like when they’re truly bare.

Dakota, call her. Or just print out her photo and paste it next to your mirror.

  • kathrineb

She is such a pretty girl. I like the dress but yes the shoes are not good. She looks so much better with this sort of lighter lip colour.
