We have absolutely no problem with a lady rocking her own body in her style choices. Or a man, for that matter. But we tend to think it should be one in a range of looks in someone’s arsenal. When it’s the only look a person knows how to work, then we’re forced to conclude they need some style education. Miss Paula could be the poster child for this.
Usually, she either takes a decent idea and screws it up somehow:
Paula Patton leaves a downtown hotel in New York City in a Robert Rodriguez dress paired with Saint Laurent pumps and David Yurman jewelry.
Or lapses so far into cliche it almost comes off as parody:
Paula Patton leaving the “Today Show” in New York City a Dolce&Gabbana dress paired with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and David Yurman jewelry.
Let’s break this down.
The color looks amazing on her and if there’s a lady out there born to wear a leather minidress and studded platform pumps, we’re thinking she’s it. Style-wise, we think this all works, right down to the bracelets. But she either needed shapewear or needed to have this let out a little, because it’s pulling and wrinkling all over her, to the point of distraction.
This look, on the other hand, is unsalvageable and should immediately be burned. Sure, everyone loves Paula Abdul circa 1991, but that doesn’t mean we want you to dress like her, hon.
