Parker Posey in New York City

Posted on September 19, 2013

We think Parker should have her picture taken every day and posted for the world to see. She seems to love it and we could all use the smile.

Parker Posey walks her dog in New York City.

The dog seems kind of dubious about the whole deal, though. We just love that Parker doesn’t do the whole “pretending not to see the paparazzi” thing. Instead, she waves like she’s in a parade. We can’t expect that from all our celebrities, nor can we fairly expect it from Parker every time, but damn, is it ever refreshing to see.

We love this time of year, because the stars all start their fall layering, which means it gives us so much more to talk about. The summer months are an endless haze of generic sundresses and gym ensembles. Thank God for jackets, sweaters and boots, darlings.

Anyway, even though this is clearly a walking-the-dawg outfit, we kinda dig her jacket and we like the idea of pairing it with a really bright red. That would work with any darker-toned jacket, we think. Dark green with a light green top; dark blue with a light blue top, etc. Kitten thoughts?

Parker Posey, I ask that you guide my thoughts and feelings today. Amen.

      • Ass Kicking Adviser

        amen sister

    • seelebrennt

i cannot with that hair. still love her though.

    • Introspective

this bitch cray. luv huh to death for it too.

    • Diego!

She looks gorgeous! She must be crazy fun! I wish I could meet her!

      • SugarSnap108

She used to sometimes take class at the place where I do yoga. She’d even change in the big communal dressing room with all of us peasants. I never had the nerve to speak to her — partly because it seemed weird to try to strike up a convo while she was changing. One thing I noticed in class: the bitch don’t sweat.

    • Silly Grrl

Super cute outfit. I’m not digging the Farrah hair though.

      • Denise Alden

It’s all very “kinda hip, kinda wow! Charlie!” isn’t it? That being said, I think she looks fabulous.

        • Silly Grrl

She does. I will love her forever.

    • hughman

I’d like to think that jacket was from her costume in “Home For Purim”.

      • Frank Butterfield

        Oh yes, indeed!

    • Liz

You can never have enough hats, gloves, and shoes.

    • Ashleigh

Parker Posey is ” That Girl”!!! She needs a kite though.

      • Ass Kicking Adviser

She IS That Girl! Good call. Get that girl a kite!

    • formerlyAnon

You need a certain insouciance to layer blouse & jacket like that without looking more rumpled than chic. The clean, simple jeans & flats below help with that.

    • annabelle archer

      Autumnal acorn.

    • stellamaris73

That looks suspiciously like a Bichon. My love for PP just grew.

      • Little_Olive

I eas thinking the same here. My aunt has a couple of bichons and she lets their crazy hair grow ot. They go on expeditions and come back carrying all sorts of sh*t in their mane, looking at you through their messy bangs. They’re so cute you’d want to eat them -and I’m not much of a dog-in-the-city person.

    • Angela_the_Librarian

I love Parker Posey and her cute outfit, but I’m not sure I’m down with her walking her dog like that. It seems that you would have less control of your dog, and the dog doesn’t really look comfortable. Did she learn nothing from Best of Show!

      • Patrick Cleary

It’s actually a method used by a number of dog-walkers. If the dog gets pully, you don’t risk the leash being dragged out of your hand, but if the dog is well-behaved, you keep the proper amount of slack on the leash.

        • Rhonda Shore

It’s also good for your back…i have a 50 pound dog and when she pulls, my back can go out of whack, so if the leash is around my hips it supports her better. (I suck at training the dog!) But Parker, love her to bits!!! Also think a dark top/light jacket combo would work! Love the shades…

      • Lisa Hager

I do that when I run/walk with my dog — takes training:-)

        • Angela_the_Librarian

I just know that it wouldn’t work well with mine (a beagle), but that’s great if it works with your dog. In the pictures it just looks like she’s not really paying attention to her dog, but that may have just been for the few moments the paps were taking photographs.

      • YoungSally

I don’t know if it is the same dog as she had in 2008 (I agree probably a Bichon or perhaps a Bichon/Poo mix) but the tabloids noted that the dog had a reputation for being quite the terror. The slack leash may be because the dog is well behaved….or perhaps because she always seems to be busy on the phone and not paying attention to what the dog is doing — bad pet etiquette in NY

    • leftcoastpickle

      love those glasses!!

    • Kiltdntiltd

I love her inordinately. And the gray framed geek girl glasses only make it worse/better.

      • formerlyAnon

        . . . better, better, better, ohh.

[Sorry. I read your comment and immediately got the “Hey Jude” earworm and wanted to share.]

    • Patrick Cleary

She looks super-chic, and she obviously loves playing with the paps. Gotta love her.

    • Jacquelyn

I love this entire look. Very chic. I also love that you included a close up of the dog as if it was an accessory. Bless you, Uncles.

    • alyce1213

I love that her clothing is real, right down to her shoes, not some promotional opportunity.

    • Imasewsure

She looks cute… and she has my dog… Love her and her damn Farrah hair!!

    • Imasewsure

Fall is the time of year where Californians have to start putting away our flip flips and putting on real shoes… luckily I take solace in pumpkin pie and pumpkin/turkey/ornament shaped cookies to tide me over until flip flop season again!

      • venusvelvet

But now we get to wear our boots.

    • Sara Padilla

That is a cute dog. Sosososososo cute.

    • mjude

i love the look & the dog.

    • Tanya Wade

She is starring in her own movie in her mind, and I love it. But this outfit is missing one crucial element: Buzzy Bee!!!

    • sleah_in_norcal

i don’t think i’ll ever get used to the blouse sticking out below the jacket. in my day it was just wrong wrong wrong.

      • conniemd

I know exactly what you mean. I was taught it was a fashion no-no. It tends to grate, but I realize it’s acceptable.

    • decormaven

Anyone know who makes those specs? They suit her so!

    • Ashleigh

      he-he- hello!!!

    • mmebam

I unreservedly love everything about this outfit

    • jw_ny

not much room in them jeans for her hands, huh? ;) I <3 her…she'd be fun to hang with.

    • SewingSiren

Is she carrying the poo bag like a pocket book.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Really cute street chic from an artist who knows what works for her.

    • Little_Olive

I like the outfit in theory more than in practice, but damn, Parker, where were you before??

    • ReadBarbara

The woman behind her in the puffy vest is the poster child for “Leggings Are Not Pants.”

    • Garcia Loca

I love the way she poses for the paps. Love it!

    • MilaXX

Is it wrong that I kinda liked it when she was a walking trainwreck? This outfit is cute.

    • Trickytrisha

Damn, that’s so cute. Parker, on the other hand is looking fine but a bit frazzled. I’m not crazy about matching your clothes to your hombre hair.

    • BridgetK

I dig the jacket. I saw her once on Royal St. in NOLA. My first thought was, “Who is this super loud, overly expressive lady who is waving her arms around so much?” There were no paps anywhere, so I think she might be like that all day, every day.

    • Lilak

Oh Parker, won’t you be my neighbor? :D

    • marlie

I like the idea of layering the colors, but these two particular reds seem a little off together. Despite that, every time she’s featured here, I smile, because I just love her personality.

    • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

      LUH-huv her.

    • Shawn EH

The only part of Parker I dare to question is her shoes, which just don’t look very urban to me. Probably a conscious choice, though. Love the wine on red.

    • largishbearishAtlish

Is she this generations Mary Tyler Moore? (as in ‘….can turn the world on with her smile….’)

the pup needs a longer leash…looks like he (she?) is struggling to keep up from being choked :(

      • BrooklynBomber

Clearly you never watched The Dog Whisperer!

    • Kelly

Sorry, I seriously hate maroon and red-orange together. It’s like the color version of fingernails on a blackboard. Nor does it help that the jacket looks so pulled and ill-fitting. I don’t love the bow-shoes or the hair, either, but it’s the blouse/jacket combo that really sinks this look for me. But the glasses are really fun, and so is Parker.

    • Trisha26

It looks like she went shopping at Goodwill.

    • NOLA_gal

Hate the colors together. Love the dog!

      • conniemd

Me too, looks like she grabbed a random jacket from her closet.

    • Malice Grant

She’s always been an out and about kind of girl and just dows her thing. I ended up sitting quite literally next to her at Veselka one day. She was by herself, just having brunch, and was sweet to the waiter and smiled at everyone pretending they didn’t know who she was. I just wanted to hug her, and then talk shit over soup.

    • crash1212

I love how she has her dog hooked to her pants. Ingenious. Also…I love her.

    • LJCdoc

      my love knows no bounds.

    • Ass Kicking Adviser

Yes, absolutely. I wear my navy-blue velvet blazer over my powder blue, men’s shirt and it makes everything better.
Party Girl, never change. Never change.

    • ellisd123

I love her so much. I want to be bffs, and we can go out for coffee, and veg on the weekends while brushing each others’ hair – classic Slumber Party style.

      • Not applicable

will you please invite me? I can only imagine the stories she could tell!

        • ellisd123

          Consider the invitation open!

          • Not applicable

i’ll be in NYC in a couple of weeks- wanna meet in Soho and do a Parker watch?? ;) jk jk- not a stalker….

    • Erica_Vuitton

This is one of the realest “on the street” outfits we’ve seen. You know each piece came from her own closet, has been worn before, and will be worn again. Wish I was hipster enough to rock the chunky rim glasses they look so cool. And I wouldn’t have thought to put the jacket and the shirt together, but it works.

    • Miranda

boy oh boy…if that little dog could talk..the stories…LOL

    • bellafigura1

that is a tragic outfit, there is no redemption available, even the funny face and the groovy glasses and the ditsy wave can not un-tragic it. or the little white doggie, which in nyc, are the equivalent of pigeons or rats. everywhere, a little scary.

    • mhleta

This is a huge frazzled mess, from the fried ombre hair to the icky fit and fabric of the shirt and jacket to the chewed up toes of her shoes. And I would happily kiss the hem of her washed out, shrunken jeans if she would let me bask in the glow of her fabulousness for just a few moments.

    • melanie0866

I love the look and the shape in general, but I am not a fan of mixing an orangey-red with a burgundy red. Nor am I a fan of ombre hair, which should have been over before it started.

I am, however, a fan of her fluffy little dog.

    • tereliz

Hot pink works well with wine/burgundy, too. Did it yesterday. God, I’m glad it’s nearly fall. Actually cooling down in NOLA this weekend, too! Maybe I’ll be able to wear the sweater I just bought…

    • shayna61

    • allcapsERINN

      Love her!

    • Renaissance_Man_ATL

I don’t like the burgundy jacket with the bright red blouse. I think other dark/bright combos would work (blues, greens, etc) but the reds don’t work for me.

    • RuthGo

The close up of the dog mid-step is killing me.

    • librarygrrl64

She looks great, and that dog is ADORABLE!!!
